Greatest school ever!!!!!!!!

Nancy Szabados

My son attended Wake Christian Academy from 7th through 12th grade--graduating in 2010. We moved him from public school to WCA to avoid the constant redistricting and lack of peer continuity. We were in search of a school that could provide a strong education in a stable, loving, Christian environment. From the first day he stepped onto the WCA campus, my son was welcomed and loved. WCA is a very inclusive community where the teachers, staff and administration love ALL of God's children, ALL of the time. My son blossomed in their nurturing environment going from an average public school student to graduating with honors from N.C. State's masters program in Biotechnology. The education at WCA was strong but the greatest gift my son received from WCA were the friendships he forged while in attendance there. My son left WCA with a circle of friends that he will keep for a lifetime--strong friendships--friends that will drive 4 hours to visit for the weekend in between their 80 hour/week residency tours--friends that FaceTime you daily while being stationed out of the country--friends that call and pray for you during times of trouble. Thank you WCA for providing the canvas that helped my son grow into a man that loves the Lord and loves, and respects all people.

I attended Wake Christian throughout Middle & High School. My years spent there were some of the best of my life. I made life long friends and was actively involved in sports, the arts and leadership activities. WCA is a Christ centered school and it is obvious from the teachers to the coaches. They teach a Biblical foundation. I dealt with personal loss while at WCA and the support I had from the school was indescribable. I would recommend WCA to any parent or family.

Wonderful school! The teachers and staff are great. The curriculum is outstanding. Our daughter has been there for 4 years and it's been a great investment.

I started to enroll my adopted African American son at this school. My first impression was that this was a racially insensitive environment. The students and faculty we encountered on our tour were clueless that we had a son who was black and their answers to our questions were sadly telling of the school's white culture. Though we were concerned we were willing to take a risk. Sadly it didn't take long into the registration process to find out that there is a systemic problem in the administration in this school. We received misleading information from the head of finance regarding scholarships. When we emailed with our concern and tried to find a way forward, we received an unkind response from the head of finance. The others admins who were CCed on the emails didn't bother to reply but rather ignored our concerns. The school was reluctant to refund our deposit money. While I have not had a child attend this school, I can't recommend this place to anyone knowing how the administration treats prospective families. In my limited experience I did not see here a school that I would want my son to be a part of.

Our family is extremely disappointed with the quality of teachers and education at the elementary school of WCA. The teaching style is outdated and is a "one package fits all" curriculum - no, or very limited, hands-on teaching/learning and endless worksheets which is extremely mundane to the students. Teachers are overworked, appear stressed and exhibit little patience with their students. As a volunteer, I, along with two other parents, were witness to an elementary teacher yelling at a student only because he posed a question to her about his assignment, and this is only one example. The environment is not nurturing nor caring and the children appear fearful. I have seen less than Christian attitudes and behavior by the staff; so don't let the fact that they identify themselves as a Christian school convince you of anything more than just that!

We love our school. Our children are receiving an solid education centered on a Christian Worldview. In our experience they have had loving, well-qualified teachers who pray with and for our children each day and help them succeed in their academics and support their spiritual life. We have been impressed with the school's ability to adjust to advances in technology and with their extracurricular offerings (sports and clubs) and their arts programs. The class size has also been ideal for learning and teacher turnover is quite low- something I think speaks volumes for the school leadership. Anyone interested in educating their children and allowing them to grow centered on God's Holy Word might consider this school a great fit for their family and should pray about whether God is leading your family here.

My time here was great! If a top notch Christ centered education is important to you, look no further than WCA. From the teachers/staff to the facilities, and everything in between, it was outstanding!

Had a horrible experience. Teachers were very unsupportive.

My kids have been attending since we switched from another local Christian school 8 years ago. What we like most about the experience is that the people there are 'real'. The focus is on the kids and students, not maintaining some private school image/persona. I've attended and researched a number of private schools (Christian and otherwise) and found Wake to be on par with the best ones across the board. I evaluate the school based on my kids' enjoyment level and how well they score on standardized tests. They like their school experience and they enjoy the extracurricular activities they take part in and their scores compared to other kids their age in NC and across the US are stellar. We made a great decision 8 years ago moving to Wake Christian.

Not worth it. Teachers were extremely unhelpful and taught nothing all year. When I moved states, I had to get lots of tutoring to catch up because of how behind I was academically. The teachers also jam theology and views down students throats which leads to lots of controversy. One teacher was a flat earth conspiracist who taught the flat earth, other teachers said I was going to hell for not accepting young earth creationism. In bible classes, students can be taught to discriminate against the LGBTQ community and the idea that men are superior to women. If you plan on sending your child here for athletics, it’s not a good idea. The sports are in a different division full of christian schools where the competition is horrible. If your kid is interested in playing college sports, they will be behind in many areas. There is little to no guidance at the school and they do not address mental illness at all. A kid who went to the school a year before I did, almost committed suicide because he was bullied constantly. He approached guidance and they did not help him at all and made him transfer. Me and another student were planning on kneeling during the anthem to protest injustice, however, word got around to our coaches and they gave a speech to the team and said they would not play anyone who did this. Another coach who has left this school, said he would harm anyone who did this. The only fun experience a student may have at this school is being able to hang out in the gym and miss class because the teachers do not care.

I am researching private schools to send my son to start kindergarten but coming across a school like this is scary. According to the description the school has posted for itself, "Wake Christian Academy is a private Christian school serving grades K-12. The campus is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, off U.S. Route 401. The school was founded in 1966 by white parents who wanted to avoid sending their children to racially integrated public schools." Scares the mess out of me being that this is suppose to be a Christian base school which should be Christ followers but they teach prejudice. This school should be closed down!

By far the best school we could have chosen for my children to attend.

I am a former teacher and student in the Wake County Public School System. In recent years, I have kept a close watch on the turmoil and changes that are constantly occurring within the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). With that being said, my wife and I would have elected to send our child to Wake Christian Academy even without all the turmoil and constant shifting of school assignments within the WCPSS. We have found that the teachers sincerely care about the children and the small class size allows for much more individual attention. The smaller class sizes and the expectations of the teachers have enabled our son to read and do math well above grade level. In our sons class, several of the students’ parents either one or both attended Wake Christian Academy. I think that speaks volumes. Wake Christian Academy does have a dress code and a code of conduct that are not found in most other schools today. Perhaps most importantly, it is a Christian School. They reinforce the Christian teachings and the Biblical world views that our son receives at church and at home. They Pray, and have Bible study while giving our son an outstanding education. These are several of the things that we LOVE about the school.

My children have attended WCA since kindergarten. Our experience has been very positive. The academics are excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. I know that my children are being prayed for every day by their teachers, coaches and administration. In addition to AP Physics, AP Biology and AP English, AP History is being added to the curriculum for the upcoming year. WCA has joined the TISAC for all athletics. Athletic teams include: football, soccer (boys&girls), volleyball, tennis (boys&girls), cross country (boys&girls), basketball (boys&girls), cheerleading (including a competition squad), baseball, softball and golf. Wake Christian Academy is a fine educational institution and I am happy my children will graduate from there.

My little one has been at Wake Christian since K-5. She is now in fourth grade and is absolutely blossoming. We took her to the Wake County public school system to obtain an I.E.P for her and was told that after testing she scored so high they could not possibly recommend and I.E.P unless she was showing academic failure. She came in a shy, finger sucking little girl. She is now happy and delighted to go to school each day. She is thriving academically and each teacher she has had have been her favorite. Mrs. Bowers, Mrs. Gore, Mrs Ramsey, Mrs. Bishop and Mrs. Blalock have each been so wonderful in helping her to grow academically, spiritually and socially. Mrs. Craft continues to gently guide her in the right direction and prepare her for what is coming next. This school cares about its students and are like a real family. If anyone has had difficulty, its because they don't believe in the same values. Thank you WCA we will see her graduate from the 12th grade with a tremendous value system, well adjusted and ready to take on the world!

Love this school! I went to a public school K-5, and this school is so much better! I thank God for helping make this school what it is today.

My children have attended WCA since kindergarten and are currently in both the 6th and 11th grade. We are extremely happy with the schools balance of excellent education, Christian values/teachings, extra curricular activities and community presence! I work in early childhood and love seeing how focused they are with children from ages Kindergarten through 12th grade! The school does a great job with communication and technology advances which is important to me and my family too. We are also very impressed with their efforts on being a safe environment, from carpool to school security. I highly recommend WCA.
