PERSPECTIVE FROM A 10TH GRADER AT WHHS
I get how a bunch of kids on here are just writing memes, but in all seriousness, the quality of the school depends on your teacher. If you have a bad teacher, you'll have a bad time. I was lucky to have mostly great teachers (a french teacher, an enviro sci teacher, a bio teacher,and an english 1 & 2 teacher) but the thing is, the lower you go in class rank (CP, Honors, AP) the more bad the class will be. there are some teachers that will treat you like paperwork and don't care if you fail or succeed, and others that care about you like you are their family. I've gone from below CP math to honors and from that experience i can tell you; the more focused kids (and less noisy classes) are in honors and above (not including languages, as you have to stay in one ranking till the 3rd class).
The atmosphere however is very mixed, there is kids who scream at the top of their lungs in the stairways (which is not fun to hear when there is 75 people trying to walk to their classes in an stairway that echoes) and are obnoxious, but there is other kids who are very study-focused and hard-working.
Also, one of the reviews says that the male teachers are known to be perverts, although i don't think they are known for that, there is some teachers (mostly subs though) that are a little pervy, but couple years ago a coach was suspected to be having relations with 2 female students, but i don't think this defines the schools male teacher population AT ALL. I've had 2 male teachers so far, and both are very kind and hard-working individuals.
For the population, there is a great mix of races and ethnicities! Also, if you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, since there are many kids from the Fine Arts Center that also attend WHHS, there is a decent mix of sexualities, but i still hear idiotic remarks in the hallways calling someone "f*g" or "gay" but overall, depending on the people you mix with, most are accepting. (We do have a straight-gay alliance club for anyone wondering)
The food is not great, so if you're a picky kid about what you eat (or especially if you are allergic to gluten or dairy) then i recommend you pack your lunch... Since congress has passed the law that says pizza is now a veggie, there is a lack of healthy foods (you can still buy fruit though!)
For athletics, i'm not the one to ask, all i know is that our school REALLY loves football...
For grades-wise, its all about you, there is some help after school but no one is going to bottle-feed you.
Saftey-wise, i mean... its a high school, so there ARE fights, but so far i've only known of around 3 big ones this year. The school is really big on ID checks, so if you don't have your ID, you better get a new one or off to ISS you go.
Dresscode-wise... Its idiotic. I've been to a highly strict school before and WHHS is more strict that that, plus it's totally sexist (in my experience) as i've been boys wearing shorts that look like they are swim trunks and will be just fine, but if a girl wears jeans with a rip the size of her pinkie finger nail, she's off to detention (that actually happened to my friend).
If you are looking for a school with;
-relaxed dress-code, healthier food options, personal attention from teachers when it comes to being confused in work, a TOTALLY safe community for transgender/gay students, and more project-based work
I wouldn't recommend WHHS (in fact, i would recommend looking into NEXT high school)
if you ARE looking for a school with;
-strict dress-code, lots of students, many class options, high population diversity, average to unhealthy food choices, a no-one-will-bottle-feed-you perspective on grades, and if you have an ability to ignore class distractions
then yes, i would recommend WHHS
