School that is the story of the haves and have nots...First let me say that I went there. I loved it. I moved to Brooklyn in part to send my kids there. It has changed. Now, the school takes itself very seriously and it's numbers are paramount. I thought the purpose of a school was the educate our children. SA does for the students it chooses. Others it kicks out. My son went there through 7th grade. From K to 7th, the school kicked out a significant number of kids - it felt like 1/2 of the boys. All to get to their "perfect profile". And surprise, surprise, that profile is white, rich, "artisy" and typically on drugs (recreational or prescribed to adjust behavior by the school). So as a parent, when you look around at parent get togethers, you see famous actors and hedge fund white people, many of whom look scared as their kids are getting pushed out or otherwise harassed as well. What the schools does after it removes "problem kids" to create diversity is to hand pick superstar minority kids in 9th grade to help their diversity numbers. I am so glad my son left. While we will have years of therapy due to the years of negative reenforcement from the admin (lead by the head of the school and his horrible minions - unbelievable 6th grade dean - you'll see - she is the executioner!)., he is in a much better place in his new school. He is smart, well liked and well adjusted which Is a big improvement after the $45,000 we asked every year on Saint Ann's!
