It's an okay middle school, but I'm not sure about high. If you want that full high school experience, this might not be it. There isn't a football field, an outdoor campus or clubs. for middle school, there aren't any trips and the only "club" would be the multicultural club. The teachers can be strict but majority aren't overbearing. The staff doesn't put any restrictions against you as long as you aren't outrageous. All-in-all, I do believe this is a good middle school, but I don't think it is for the high school.

I was here in the 2017-2018 school year for 6th grade but they gave us so much hw and projects to do. Some teachers don't even remember your name. I hate this so much because no teacher or student supported me when I got bullied. My fav teacher was Mr. O'Brien and Mrs.Kennedy. The teachers expect you to be perfect but at least not all of them. The only thing i liked about this school was that they made me smart and score both 4's on the state exam. Now I'm in a school where my hobby Studying technology is a major thing. In my new school they actually support me and believe technology is a major subject.

I'm a Junior who attends this school and I have to admit that this is absolutely a great school. The teachers are great, friendly, and respectful, and that it's pretty much a positive environment. The education is great also there's balanced and a reasonable amount of homework given. The only thing that I hate about school is that it lacks extracurriculars, sure it has some sports teams that I'm in but where are all the clubs? If you don't have a problem with the lack of extracurriculars and want a literally good education for your Future then this might be the school for you but then again it has its ups and downs, keep an open mind.

Personally, I would not recommend anyone sending their child to this school. What I thought was going to be a great school for my daughter to attend has turned out to be a nightmare. Most of the teacher she's encountered has been horrible in quality and attitude. Every math teacher she's had has been fired. Her 6th and 7th grade English teacher was let go and he was the worst. It has truly been a less than desirable experience. I could go on, trust me, but I won't. If you have another school you're thinking about sending your child, I highly suggest you choose it. God Bless

When I was accepted to this school a few years ago, I was ecstatic, to say the least. This was a school well known for its academics. However, I came to be highly disappointed. Let me tell you how this school managed to flunk every single one of my expectations. Gateway is a 6-12 school, meaning it encompasses both middle and high school. Extracurriculars are highly regarded in college admissions. You'd think that a middle schooler such as myself would have a wider range of extracurriculars readily available to us. That's where you'd be wrong, because not only does this school favor the high schoolers, but the only club available to middle schoolers is Multicultural. That means putting on a performance near the end of the school year. But the vast majority of most schoolers aren't talented in the arts. The school does have a few small sports clubs, but they are only open to the high schoolers and they barely receive the attention they need to be sustained. Gateway has "Health Sciences" in the name but take it from me and from the many other reviews of Gateway: Gateway doesn't have anything to do with medical studies. Yes, it's situated right next to Queens hospital, but those famed trips to the hospital were stopped a long time ago. The only thing Gateway has related to medical studies are a few classes, such as pharmacy. But, such classes are few and far between. After having made it so far down my rant review, you may be wondering the reason behind the school's lack of extracurriculars and health related studies. Luckily, that's an easy one to figure out, bringing me to my next point... The administration of Gateway is a total mess. For example, students were being switched around classes for months after the beginning of school this school year. Most teachers leave as soon as the dismissal bell rings, which is partly the reason behind the lack of extracurriculars. At the helm of this administration is Judy A. Henry, the Terror. She yells innocent students for even small reasons. She'll take even things that do not involve her as personal attacks. For a recent example, see her promposal ban. Just because a student asked out his date in front of the school with friends, she temporarily removed a student who participated in the promposal from her position. She then proceeded to "ban promposals both on and off campus", which outside of being absolutely ridiculous, was out of her authority as principal. She shouldn't even be a principal. Out of all the candidates for principal, she was ranked as the least qualified, and yet she got the job due to being friends with Carmen Fariña. It was Ms. Henry who caused the hospital trips to be discontinued, and she constantly says that there isn't enough in the budget for extracurriculars and trips. Yes. In addition to the chronic lack of extracurriculars, there is a chronic lack of school trips. Yet, there are a few million dollars in the budget, which you'd think would be enough to cover such expenses. Regular joys of school aren't the only things going unfunded. Teachers have to provide their own supplies for any activities they want to include in the curriculum, which is a shame, as another reviewer has already pointed out. The only positive thing I can say is that this school is safe and the building is relatively well maintained. The building is only a few years old, after all. But that doesn't even come close to offsetting the other disappointments. If I knew what this school was really like, I wouldn't have even applied to it, let alone rank it #1 on my middle school application. Fortunately for me, I'm in the lucky half that's heading to a specialized high school. I just need to ride out the next last two months of the school year and the middle school chapter of my life will close. To those entering the school, I wish you good luck. For me, however, good riddance. TLDR- Lack of extracurriculars and trips, little to do with medical studies, and horrendous administration. But it's safe and has good facilities. Come here if you only care about academics and nothing else.

So this isn’t my real name or anything this is just an alternate account I can use to give my honest opinion on this school. I am currently in the 8th grade, and all I can say is, this school is pretty good. Listen, if you’re a parent and are looking for good schools for your child to go to, this is a good place to look into. There are some teachers like Mr. O’Brein and Mr. Marsh that get you excited about learning and teach clearly in a fun way. At least I think that those classes are fun. It’s not only them. In most classes you can crack a joke and still have a great relationship with the teacher. I would say there is only 1 REALLY bad teacher in the school, but I’m not going to name any names. Disregarding good times, the education system is great. Most of the time teachers give you work and it would be easy. Some days it might have been a lot but the most time I spent doing homework in this school was at maximum 1 and a half hours. I can also say that this school has made me a better student. At the end of 6th grade, my gpa was around 89. Now my GPA is 95. That is a drastic increase and it’s all because of the teachers. Now I know I’m talking the school up so much, but there are some big problems. First of all, the principal is herendous. I don’t hate her, sometimes she is fair. But I have a friend who she favors who is always getting into some kind of trouble. Nothing happens to him since the principal likes him so much. Plus the assistant principals do nothing. One of them walks around collecting phones and the other one pretends he’s evaluating classrooms and teachers. Now onto the students. Most students are nice. They will make fun of you from time to time but that’s just friendly banter. They won’t hit you or expose you unless you do something to them first. For the most part, the kids are great. All in all, the school isn’t that bad. The higher council may need some improval but other than that, everything is good. I took the time out of my free Saturday just to say that this school is a great place to go to. Just don’t go to the high school. The high school sucks. The middle school is good.

I'm currently in the 6th Grade here. The school is very organized and clean. One thing is that the middle schoolers don't have many clubs or afterschool activities (other than an afterschool program, SASF). Also, the students may not be as good as you think. But as long as you keep yourself with the right group of friends. Your school life here will be a blast!

Everyone is practically your family here since you will probably know all your classmates and its really nice to be around with people who actually care about you but some of the teachers are rude. The principle is terrible in my opinion. She shows PLENTY of attitude to practically everyone and favors certain students and teachers over others and clearly shows it. The administration is very rude too. They barely care about the students and honestly i think that they just want to get home rather than do their job. The best teacher is probably Mr. Schaefer because he genuinely cares about his students. I am out of school and in brooklyn tech and he still replies to my emails! There are a couple of teachers like him who you can trust but others are eh. :( Also, there are no extra curricular activities besides SASF and gardening club and like two other things. In all honesty, I suggest you get out of the school asap.

my wife sent my son to this school, i pray that they close this school. It is run like a college, you get tidbits at school and are sent home constantly doing what they say is homework. What you really do is go home and pray your parents or grandparents have time to teach you what the teachers never do. Well i am saving up for catholic school tuition, god willing next year my son will go to a catholic school-where they teach you in school. The thing that hurts the most about this school is that it is all show and no real substance. I refuse to speak to the math teacher she is the most clueless one there. I praise the social studies teacher- one person who knows what it means to teach with love. Unfortunately, one good teacher a school does not make. bookbags must be dragged around all day every day, and with no coordination of reducing weight. There is no time for any deviation during the class day. Even lunch is a challenge. Oh! a big shout out to rachel in charge of the sports and art after school program- if i could draft her and her people i would. They are the sole shinning star of the school- that's right the after school? That tells you everything. listen there is no reason why a 56 year old parent should have to start teaching a devious and stressful sixth grade to his eleven year old son. Queensway middle school is a mailed in and signed out teaching establishment. Stay Out.

I am a student here at Queens Gateway. I will not say what grade I am in, or else these corrupt and absurd administrators would shout at me for doing so. I have a 84 overall average in class (that's painfully average). The teachers here are below average, there are some teachers here that are bit too absurd at the way they teach (given how they "expect the best" and "nothing less" as their unoriginal school motto). They think they are teaching one of the most prestigious students of all time, but then again this is just an ordinary school. Speaking of "ordinary school", may I have a complaint about the head administrator? Her name is Miss Judy Henry. This loud-trash talking menace always screams at random kids everyday. She is the main reason for NO clubs (unless you count the Multicultural Club), NO trips, and NO student & parent interaction. Heck, the school budget is very low because of this damned principal. This principal should've been fired years ago because of her controversies. Teachers and students here look depressed and if a student/teacher tries to speak out, Ms. Henry and her little friends(a.k.a "APs) wouldn't care and will just scream witted comments at you. Half of the teachers don't even know how to teach, Ms. Henry hired them because they are her "colleagues or friends". This school has become ghetto over the years because of Ms. Henry. Parents beware, do not SEND your child to this school, if your child did, you have to transfer your child to another school IMMEDIATELY.

What kind of school has health sciences in their name but has nothing to do with Health or science? Jokes aside, the principle(Mrs. Judy Henry) is one of the nicest and is among one of the most intelligent I have ever met. One day i was starving to death on the streets, Mrs Henry saw me, and donated half the school's budget just so I could afford a big mac.

Another update to my continued ‘school review’ saga. This school is going completely downhill. The middle school is great, but the high school...not so much. There’s some teachers who make you want to do stuff, but then there’s the ones who are boring, irresponsible, and just make you want to flat out leave the school. The staff, as per always, hasn’t changed. However, instead of focusing on the stuff we need, they focus on the dumbest things. No tights allowed in phys ed? No promposals? Lack of trips? There’s nothing really great in this school. They’re getting rid of the good programs, and there’s no hospital program (that we’re aware of). There’s some great people and teachers, but they’re the only reason why I still attend this school. Seriously nothing special, but there’s way better schools out there (with better staff).

Very well organised, clean, friendly school in brand new building with all you need equipment for great studies. We serve this school for over 10 years by now and it's always great experience
