Class "2000 - 2005" !!!Good old time!!! I still have a good memory moment facing lazy teacher and doesn't even mind all student cheating on final regent exam on History and English. several nice teachers and concern student give a guide to pass the class and able to make up extra point to boost on the grade the rest teacher doesn't even care and making student miserable fail and retake the course again and has no choice to transfer another class subject..... !!!Beware and keep your eyes peel!!!

Racist I wish I would've put a 0.5 Middle schoolers don't come the teachers are the worst I came here because most of my friends came to this school I probably shouldn't have followed I should've gone my own way a lot of the kids here do drugs too the halls always smell like weed its a bad environment. Fort Hamilton High School stands on the site of an old Boating Club that gave the property to the board of education at the time. Fort Hamilton High School while not necessarily academically Elite + have an active Student Life and involvement in sports activities. It is a large Grand educational Institution on Shore Road Bay Ridge

I graduated from this high school in 2012. (Last year under Mrs. Chester). All I can say is that now this isn't the high school that I will be sending my children to. Its been horrible under the new administration. Everyone, since the moment you walk in through the front door, gives you the run-around. Before, its like a million people were there to help you. Now, its like they just throw your child’s guidance counselor at you as the only one who can help you regarding the student. All AP’s are in a “meeting” or they’re “not available”. Mr. Abood was a person that I recall used to help out everyone and now its like its obvious he was given orders to not do so. (Still hasn't replied to my email that I left him several months ago when his phone took me to voicemail). Its become so strict and I feel for the kids. My biggest issue going to college was feeling that I wasn't prepared enough for it. If I felt that then, it’ll only be worse for this new generation because all this school cares about is their reputation and not the students themselves. Now they give seniors a full day’s schedule and with the way the students walk-in in the morning its like a jail. You get a call when your child is 15 minutes late like its the end of the world and they expect you to come in, as if you live around the corner, to speak to a guidance couselor who only vouches for the teachers and makes your child look like a felon in your eyes. How does this prepare a child for college where they won’t care if a student is 15 minutes late or not? Who won’t care if a student is on their phone? Who won’t care if a student has a hat on? Who won’t care about any of that except getting the assignment done!? They’re on top of them in a way that gives a child some serious emotional problems, let alone academic ones. Stay away! If you’re new to this neighborhood, consider any other school except this one. God bless you wherever you are now Mrs. Chester. At least your administration had a “student comes first” mentality.

My son is a high school senior at this high school. Apparently sworn to secrecy by way of profit or by way of threat, my son has demonstrated that there is an extensive drug network at this school. Nestled in a high price neighborhood, this school appears to be a magnet for drug dealers of all types and no child is unaffected. The administration appears to be clueless as their priorities seem to be to maintain confrontation with parents. The impression is one typified by antagonism to parents while promoting themselves as protectors, educators and saviors of our children. In this atmosphere of misinformation, the administration misses the drug dealings that take place on and off school grounds. If I could do it again, I would have kept my youngest child, a son, far away from this place: a school whose culture is confrontational with parents while their children become addicted.

Good old Fort is still standing after many many years of service! I went to this school in 91 and can say that I have some good things to say about it and some bad....I just wish they had the pool when I was there! The rumor is you can swim if you pay a fee and if you graduated there you are in the in!

I would call this high school a last resort. Try to avoid this school if possible. The halls are overcrowded and staff tend to be over the top. If all else fails, then I wish you luck.

My sister is a new comer in school, and I have to say she's had the worst experience there. To clarify, she is American and her english is impeccable, but she just came from a different country where she got nothing but straight A's with a different learning system and came to FH where they were giving her class like a regular student, not to mention the pressure and stress they gave her expecting her to learn everything a senior would know in just 7 months. So what happens? She fails one of her regions... math to be exact. And they won't allow her to graduate. And we had to CALL to figure out a day before the graduation that she couldn't graduate (after she had the illusion that she was going and payed the graduation fees, bought her dress and shoes, etc) You could imagine her reaction when she found out.

Graduating here this year, staff is pretty hit or miss, but for the most part teachers here are good. School is overcrowded and can be annoying sometimes. Good deans though so at least the school is safe. I recommend this school if it’s your zone (come in honors) or if you’ve got meh grades, it’s not worth a commute, but it’s not so bad you should avoid it. Great sports programs though

Was there 08-12 and I must say unless your child is going to play a sport, chose another school. Teachers, deans, & security are all unreliable.
