I never learned to read here and I became severely depressed at the age of 6 because I got bullied. I'm 14 now and it has taken me 10 years to fully recover from that place. I hope one day I can forget about what happened but I don't think their is any way to really get closure for how much therapy I went through and how many days I had to read children's books when I was 8. It mentally scared me, and if it's even the slightest way it was in 2009, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Blue School is serious fun for the whole community - at our core we believe that learning should be fun (and we all have fun at school everyday) but the School is very serious in the development and application of its curriculum - examining what's worked in the past (e.g., Reggio and the progressive tradition, where automaticity/practice is appropriate and even necessary, etc. ) and what the latest research shows (e.g., Dan Siegel's neuroscience and Larry Cohen's work in psychology with playful parenting) and using assessment to verify that the approach is working. Our kids are thriving and consistently please us with what they're learning. For example, the school's view on reading goes far beyond simply decoding letters into words and focuses on telling or writing a good story, being the audience (understanding the story / asking questions), and dramatic play (using your body to tell a story) creating a foundation for children who show a love for reading that feels unusual in our digital age. The teachers and staff couldn't be more thoughtful, engaged and dedicated. It's exciting to be part of a school animated by such big ideas but that pays attention to the details. It is a school where asking questions and finding the answers is the core of every day.
