REVIEWS OF Santa Fe University of Art and Design IN New Mexico

I have not yet attended this college but I am really looking forward to it. However, reading these reviews are making me think twice. What the campus looks like doesn't bother me I will be there to learn. I would have to say though I would like teachers who aren't disrespectful. I only would like to reach my goal as a professional photographer. The website was NO help at all for the information I wanted to consume. Contemplating whether or not I should call to find out; Even though there is a website that should contain ALL information for First Year Students or Students with interest.

The administration will probably ignore calls until you either talk to tbem personally or til they happily call to collect their money. The photography teachers are great and super encouraging but the price of tuition does not show when it comes to the support from administration. They charge for any fee they can such as a parking sticker which they don't tell you about along with other nonsense. All in all the teachers are good, courses are acceptable but the administration isn't the best because how disorganized and malevolent they are. The students are lit though #gang gang

Went to this school for 1 semester. Although things were not 100% awesome I will say that I am sad to see this school closing. It had a beautiful campus, the food was wonderful in my option and I just loved the environment it had. I hope someone can utilize this campus for great and not let it get ruined and run down. If UNM was smart, they could buy this property and branch off to art students that would like to further their education. I would definitely go back if that happened

DON'T GET RIPPED OFF! Some of the teachers are great. The admin not so much. I attended for only one semester during my time as a college student, working in film was fun and I was doing well. Then it came down to the finances, . It wasn't until I had attended this school that I was completely student debt free. Before I started I was talking to the finance department and specifically asked them about the total cost per semester. Because if it was to much I wasn't going to be attending school, up to this point I had been working to pay out of my pocket along with any scholarships I could get for school. So finances were a big factor in making my choice to attend. I specifically asked after scholarships and fasfa what would I need to pay out of pocket so I could write them a check at the end of each semester. Keeping in mind that I had talked to them about me wanting to stay away from student loans. They replied and I quote "let's see, after EVERTHING you'll only be paying about $3,000 out of pocket" so "I said okay great!" I found out at the end of the semester what they meant by "after everything." It included scholarships, fasfa, as well as all the student LOANS that I was eligible for. They never mentioned student loans out of the first conversation i had with them before the semester started, if it would have been made clear about all the student loans i never would have attended this school. After one 16 week semester I walked away with around $10,000 in student debt. I can also vouch for at least 2 other possible students that were given different unclear numbers by the school when looking to attend as well.

I had five really exceptional teachers in particular that made it worth while and i loved their classes, I had a few others that I worked really hard for and got the grades I earned respectively, the rest as well as the administration were (like bricks tied to your ankles trying to keep you stuck at the institution as long as possible by ANY means but let's just say they were) lacking. There was as much good as there was there was bad but the biases, man the biases, cover ups and mismanagement of both faculty and students, wow. But honestly that's any major instituion I suppose. I attended SFUAD for 3and a half years and I earned my BFA in studio art. So many improvements had been made since I started as a freshman there in 2011 and graduated in 2014, even during the time I spent out there for another 3 years working in santa fe, things were really starting to look up. Lol these comments and the ones I've seen elsewhere from perspectives make me smile, so bright eyed and bushy tailed just the epitome of an optimistic prospective freshman/student so naive.

What I have learned from the reviews, it seems people are having problems with the teachers and administration. I am planning to attend thid school and I have learned that you have to have them notice you. They are school of talent. They have personally contacted me and set up dates to tour the campus. They provide help and answer any questions you have. If you're having problems with the teachers, you have to remember that you're an adult and they don't have to care. You have to do things on your own. The campus is nice the last time I saw. It's a great school and you have a good fhance of getting in.

I live in Santa Fe itself, and was thinking about the possibility of attending the school. I didn't know anything about the program, or much about the school and its facilities. The website was inconsistent, and not very helpful. I was willing, however, to overlook that; assuming I could get a good tour and someone to inform me about the program itself. So, I called the admissions office, indicating that I was interested in the creative writing program, that I didn't know much about it (or the school), and that I was interested in learning more. The admissions counselor then did something I found utterly offensive: She completely dismissed my entire ignorance of the school and program, she did not offer a tour or any additional information, she said, "Just get on our website. All of your questions will be answered there." She then explained how I begin the application process. I felt like I was dealing with a horrible salesperson, or something. And it was potentially one of the most important decisions I was making in my life. Now, I just get calls and emails encouraging me to apply immediately, and how to do so. If you're fine with entering a four year program, and spending thousands of dollars, on blind faith--then Santa Fe University of Art and Design might be a good fit for you.

This Institution has the worst policies I have ever seen. They discriminate against people with disabilities, they will not allow a brain injured person representation. Think real hard if you are considering this place for an education, they do not provide sufficient supplies for classes. The buildings are in such bad shape they should be condemned. Financial aid packages are short $3k - $4k from what is stated. They treat adults like children with their attendance policies, docking grades for missing more than 3 days.

If you want to take Music, Film, Creative Writing, Studio Art, or whatever. Go ahead. Performing Arts though. Hell No. The majority of the teachers are disrespectful, dance lessons consist of stretches only. Student's run plays that are disorganized that don't even review the lines we need to learn. You don't have rehearsals until the week before the actual play. Everything in that department is completely unorganized. Don't get me wrong though, the other departments are great, majority of the students are nice as well as administration who was also helpful. But the performing arts department is terrible right now. The teachers will indirectly tell you that you are a terrible actor and you need to catch up to the others who have been acting their whole life. The teachers will say that and won't even make the effort to help you improve. Now for someone, me, who was told there would be a dance major and was put into performing arts with no acting background, I would need a lot of help. Teachers don't give a crap. This department is awful to the point where i won't be lasting through to the second semester of my freshman year. Great way to start college.

Campus is kinda crappy, but they're doing what they can to make it better. It's whatever you make of it. I'm in the CWL department and I love it and I'm learning a lot. Administration can be really frustrating to deal with, but you just have to get on the right people's good sides to get your way

Theatre Major, first year was great, fantastic teachers, hands on learning, you truly will improve in this department if you have the attitude to accept your flaws and grow. Would and do reccomend.

My daughter goes here...she was also disappointed with the theater program...same description of terrible teachers and bias against students who had not gone to New York or La...but the Creative writing she is doing very well...However, the reviews on the administration is dead on..they are so disorganized...and not the most helpful...

Grandes experiencias en mi vida he vivido allí. LOVE.

I feel like the administration here is afraid what students will do if they actually are given the tools to succeed and flourish as individuals. Everything I've seen here, every student, class, interaction, etc. has been laced with some form of disdain for the students. Many of the students came here being lied to and told it was going to be College of Santa Fe, only to arrive and find they had changed its name and core identity. As of late, they've decided to fine every student on campus $250 because of vandalism. Every student, no matter which dorm or apartment, will be forced to pay this unless the student(s) who did the vandalism step forward. This is a scare tactic, it's degrading and disrespectful to legal adults and just shows what this school actually is. It's a bully. It's a deceitful bully who lies to get you to give them money and then beat you up anyway. This is single-handedly the worst college I have ever been to and it fills me with disgust that it exists.
