It's not the most glamorous school but it's for people who want to save money, need a second chance, or work full time jobs. Kids who had bad grades in high school can come here for a second chance and move onto a more prestigious university like the U, it offers great opportunity for low income students and commuters. While it's not the best school it's definitely worth the money and will defiantly change your life for the better if you have a goal.

Its a good school with a god education.

Given up ever joining this reputable college because of financial aid office. I am really frustrated but I believe God is preparing me for something big.

I was a student here from Spring 2016 to Spring 2017. I saved money getting my generals done here, and I enjoyed the small class sizes. The instructors, for the most part, were all very kind and helpful and wanted to see their students succeed. I enjoyed my time at NHCC, and I would recommend it to other students looking to get their generals done.

If I could do 0 stars I would. They dont support the military, very slow when it comes to helping students. I would avoid this school at all cost. Please save your losses, time and money and go to Anoka-Ramsey if you can.

Students love this school. A reflection on the great instructors. However, if you are an instructor this school will cheat you out of your pay and treat you poorly. They lie - the worst is the HR Director and the President. They are so bold and brazen - they even lie to the Dept of Labor. If you are a student and considering attending, you will very likely receive a great education. If you are an instructor, think very hard about signing-up with this place. Very poor role models for students.

This college is such a joke. Dont waste your time attending classes here. The teachers dont know how to teach their classes at all. No structure, not helpful to students. Again, don't waste your money and time at this "school"

I attended North Hennepin Community College many years ago. I came out of poverty in the inner city of Minneapolis with a poor education. So I enrolled in NHCC to play catch-up and complete my gen eds towards my bachelors. This was the only way that I was going to make it into the University of Minnesota with even half a chance to graduate. North Hennepin gave me a place to transition. Smaller classes and more access to instructors at a cost that was affordable. I struggled at times. But there was always somebody to turn to at NHCC who helped me figure out how to move forward. I have been a licensed clinical therapist for the past 18 years. I transferred into the University of Minnesota and finished my undergrad in Child Psychology. Later I finished my masters in Counseling Psychology, licensed in two states and have now built two successful private practices. I owe a debt of gratitude to North Hennepin - where my education truly started. Since I graduated from NHCC, the cost of an education has risen over 300%. So to those of you looking to complete your bachelors degree, be smart - start at a community college and transfer in. You will have a much better experience and save a whole lot of money!

Fantastic college with diverse and friendly students and staff. The staff are all extremely passionate about their field of study, their students and the student's success. Amazing school!

My initial experience with NHCC is that they are petty and unreasonable. I emailed the school on Friday stating that before I completed their application process I had a few questions. I initiated the process about 10 min. later to get things going but because I accidentally pressed 'complete' on the application I was subsequently charged their $20 application fee. Within minutes, & once realizing I was charged, I immediately emailed NHCC & notified them of the error. No one responded so I had to wait until Monday morning to call. I spent 20+ min. trying to get a $20 refund. NHCC - you just spent 3 staff members, a customer service rep. and manager and a director, who all get paid how much? who could be doing what else?, over the course of 20+ minutes arguing over a same-day, accidental $20 charge? And you are a 'teaching institution? Seriously? $20 NHCC. Now you have to concern yourself with online damage control? Counterproductive, no? I was deciding between two schools but after reading several negative reviews about NHCC, my experience solidified my decision to go elsewhere. No thank you.

I transferred into NHCC. I have never seen a school, or even a business, run so poorly. I have not been able to get through a semester without an error on my financial aid or registration. Never attempt to change anything on the eServices website, because it will erase all of the information you have saved in other areas. On a positive note, the education is quality and the professors are very likable and knowledgeable.

Terrible school, the financial aid department, the bookstore, the counselors are all terrible and do not care about your education, they only want your money.

Love this school! The staff really cares about the students' success. The cost is lower than other institutions. Love the hybrid class option. I chose North Hennepin Community College over a larger schools b/c I didn't want to be just another number!

I went here for my first two years from 2004 to 2006 to save money then transferred all my credits to Metropolitan State University to get my BS in international business. They even offered a few Metro classes at NHCC which was nice since I didn't have to go to Minneapolis or St. Paul for a few classes.

Love this school! They have all the latest technology. Always a computer with the newest tech on it and helpful IT personnel on staff. Cheap tuition. Work hard and they'll reward you. I study hard and got two scholarships from the school. Two quiet places on campus for quiet study in student life building and library. Fireside lounge is comfy and fun. Lots of helpful student aid stuff. TRIO program is awesome. Tutors available all week m-f if you need help. Snacks and drink machines everywhere and a great cafeteria. Tons of places for social interaction. Great classes. Would highly recommend this school.

Brenda Ann Smith

My name is Brenda Ann Smith and I attend North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park Minnesota I have been there since the summer semester I have had some problems with my car and I went for help I spoke to many staff members and was told about a non-profit program called Random Act of kindness after looking into the situation for help I was denied because of my age my race and my mental health abilities later that day I feel like I was threatened I was told that I do not want to make mr. Steve who work in the financial aid department my enemy I was told this by mr. Michael in the diversity Department he said you don't want to get on mr. Steve bad side I don't understand that then you got to tell me about some things about the police pulled his wife over and put a gun to her head and laid her on the ground then he started telling me about the KKK shot up his house I am so confused I don't understand why would he be telling me this so at this time I fear for my life because it's mr. Steve who works in the financial aid department as the Director and I was told you don't want to get on his bad side what do that mean I am just a student was trying to get an education who had some problems with her car and only reached out for help and now I'm threatened so I reached out to my family and I reached out to an attorney because that statement that mr. Michael said to me frighten me I can think all kinds of ways I know he was being sarcastic he was being subliminal but why should I be afraid should I worry about the security guard the public safety people tampering with my car should I worry about the the Brooklyn Park Police Department pull me over and then shoot me for no reason at all I can think way outside the box so I'm asking someone to help me to understand what did mr. Steve mean what did mr. Michael mean about you don't want to get on mr. Steve bad side..I'm not capitalizing anything I'm just speaking into this microphone on my phone don't feel like typing I'm too confused right now all I wanted all I want is the get my 4 year degree psychology and socialworker

NHCC is not a conducive learning environment for black people especially those in the nursing program. The instructors intentionally set you up to fail and assume you don’t know what you are doing. It is sad that the administration knows about it and not willing to do anything about it. If you are a black person and especially if you have an accent, go somewhere else, somewhere you are welcomed but NHCC is not that place. Talk about witch hunt, the instructors are very good at it.
