This past year, we spoke with BHS school administration asking them to support staff and student rights to both vote and voice at BHS. We know of two well documented cases -- on the schools own video cameras ---where the school is not giving these rights (vote and voice) to students and staff. Recent example: the school states voting is "one vote per staff and one vote per student", but the administration is supporting a staff member that has told the voted student to "be silent" while the one staff then chooses a student they personally wanted- and allowed them to represent - in place of the voted student. One staff can choose, rather than allowing everyone else's vote/voice! Why vote then? Why teach Civics? For the voted student(s), there is no removal process, no policies, nothing except farce voting and meetings to be told to "be silent!". We disagree with this practice and feel students should be taught the rights to vote and voice. Whether a staff member likes the results or not, students and staff should be able to vote and have their voice heard.

This is a fantastic high school. The building itself is great, with an awesome pool, two gyms, auditorium, wood shop, car shop garage, several computer labs and massive cafeteria. Of course the food is awful unfortunately, but not due to the staff of course, but due to government regulation. The building is usually very clean and well maintained. The teachers are usually very good. The extracurricular activities such as FIRST robotics and sports are huge in variety and are always well supported. I have visited to a lot of high schools and this is amongst the best.
