Worst school ever, if you are expecting to learn nothing after four year of high school this will be the perfect place for you to come. More than 50% are Chinese students, 20% of Vietnamese students, and less than 3% of Americans. By the way if you are expecting to get your deposit back, I’m telling you it’s impossible. I graduated five months ago and I still did not get it back when I asked for it since June. Best place for student just want to have fun and getting into any college in the States.

At CATS for 2 years. Wonderful improvements. Nice single dorm room with single bathroom. Need bigger and better academic building.

My nephew went to this school. He loved CATS Academy Boston so much, he felt like he can go anywhere in the world now and make friends with all kinds of people because of the diverse friendships he made at CATS Boston. I asked him if his experience was similar to what some of the bad reviews on this page described, and he explained to me that many of the negative reviews written below were written by vengeful students as retribution for being disciplined by the school administration or for receiving failing grades for unsatisfactory academic performance. I definitely do not doubt this because I've seen some of my nephews friends and, lets face it, they act like "No" isn't a word that they are told often. A+

This is my first year to study in here, since I started at September, this is a great school, especially they have really great and amazing teachers that are really caring, which is awesome, and their foods at the cafeteria are really good, I think it absolutely would be way better to compare to the other school's cafeteria, and I would say that this is also a good place to learn!

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS SCHOOL! THEY ARE DEFINITELY *NOT* A "TOP COLLEGE PREPARATORY" SCHOOL! ok, strictly speaking, it's not completely terrible, cuz I found the food to be pretty decent and I actually like a teacher and have a good friend in there. that's why this school still worth a star to me. BUT UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME, DON'T EVER STEP INTO THIS SCHOOL, EVER! ALL THESE GREEDY MOFOS DO IS TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY AND PUT ON A GOOD SHOW TO FOOL YOU, LIKE A BIG CIRCUS! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO HERE, EVER. YOU WILL REGRET IT JUST LIKE I DO!

My experience in this place last year was terrible. The school its very good, the teachers are awesome and the classes are very good, and also the school have a very good college counseling. But when we talk about the dorms the thing its very bad. First thing, a lot of drinking and smoking happens in the dorms and anyone says nothing. Last year, the guy that lived by my side smoke cigarrets all the time, and the dorm parent had done anything, actually my dorm parent used to like talk about cigarrets in the dorms, i thing that i dont appreciate because my mom paid a lot of money for me to study abroad and i dont thing that i came to this place to hear the dorm parents talk about the best cigarettes to smoke, openly. I cant say that i had a good time at CATS, but the thing that made me come back to my country was that i did not felt safe in the dorms, and my friends either. So if you plan studying abroad, and you dont like to drink and smoke, you should consider another school.

CATS for me was an ok experience; however, there are just some constructive advice I would like to offer the administration to make CATS a school that truly offers a world-class education. In addition, I truly want graduates to feel unashamed to say that they graduated from CATS, but it really has to change!!! At first, I would like to give a brutally honest experience of what led me to choose CATS. When I was studying in the U.K., I felt like the experience was just not right. I then browsed through Litz USA, a company in Hong Kong to help students study abroad in the U.S. What instantly caught my eye was the statement LITZ USA made: "All of the teachers graduated from top universities in the United States, including Harvard University, Columbia University, Brown University, New York University, Boston College, and Washington University." Just based on this statement, I thought "wow" this is really great school I would want to invest three years of my life in. However, when I got to CATS, I felt like I was misrepresented!!! In fact, none of the teachers went to these universities except our wonderful Econ teacher who went to BC. Indeed, I do not blame businesses desperate for money to use euphemism as a way to attract consumers. Another statement I read was that "CATS Academy Boston aims to prepare students to enter the world's top universities". Unfortunately, I feel like CATS only aims to help a few select students with full scholarships to enter into these top universities. In reality, some of these free riders are my really close friends who did end up in top unis; however, I could say they could do well just by themselves regardless on which high school they go to, it's just this full scholarship thing appeals to them and therefore gives CATS the right to use them for marketing material, deceiving students who are interested think CATS help every student get into the top unis. The first advice I would give CATS is that I would rather see CATS give equal attention to all students and advertise students that came in as a mediocres and finally get matriculated into the top unis. Advertising students that came in as already high achievers does not show how CATS improve students and prepare them, because these free riders are already prepared. The second advice I would like to give the admin is that CATS should really stop being the D-league of the NBA, teachers come and go. The metaphor to describe this would be, all the teachers come in and train, when they are doing so well, the NBA offers them a higher salary, they leave. Speaking of teachers, CATS should STOP hiring teachers straight out of college with no teaching experience, the AP computer science class was hit really hard felt like they got duped because of this. I know CATS wanted to cut costs by hiring straight-out-of-college teachers that get paid industry starting salary, but vowing to "shape global leaders" and give students a "world class education"........ I know CATS is a for profit business not a charity, compassion is not something they should prioritize. However, at least they could stop misrepresenting people. I strongly urge CATS not to be covert, but to be transparent to its consumers and not price discriminate based on race. On the flip side, I feel grateful about the scholarship i got at CATS, fantastic friends i made and the good teachers I had the chance to learn from. I am also grateful about my dorm parent who have been an awesome big brother to be. To be frank, because of these red flags, teachers and students come and go, the turnover rate for teachers is just crazy. The loyalty to CATS is just in tatters!!!! many students come for a year and feel like they want to transfer after being misrepresented by their agents. I honestly want to be successful one day and feel proud to tell my friends about CATS, but now, I'll hold that thought until CATS experiences a change to become an honest and transparent institution.

students here are completely unsupervised. Constantly out making out and trashing neighborhood properties. Have seen them in compromising positions and/or smoking behind CVS plaza repeatedly. I don't know what kind of staffing they have, but its clearly not enough because its a matter of time before some kid there has a baby or robs a house.

I was one of the few American student that attended this school for freshman year in the 2016/2017 school year. This was when the building was brand new. I would have to say the campus was very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. There are some things that drove me to attending a different school for the rest of my high school career. The academics were horrible in my experience. The classes actually slowed down my progress as I was doing the same work I did in my (American) middle school. I hadn’t improved in anything. The next thing that made my experience pretty traumatic was the teachers. Many of the classes that were prepared by teachers were very incomplete and unprofessional. It felt as if teachers were just going with the flow and didn’t know what they were really doing. This made it hard to follow along. Another thing was the student body. I loved the collectiveness of having many people of many different backgrounds in one space but it got very frustrating for a young new student as I was. It turned very cliquey quickly. Since others related over their home countries it was easy for them to stick together and they wouldn’t let anyone else in. All of this and more ultimately made me realize this school was definitely not for me. It pushed me to attend a local highschool for my sophomore year and forward. In no way should this make you steer away from the school because this was MY experience. It could be different and/or better for you.

As a domestic student, this school honestly isn't as bad as most people say. The food is miles ahead of the quality of other schools, and the teachers are people you'll get to know pretty well. However, in the beginning of the year, there were some problems. The staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing, but I'm sure they'll do better next year now that they're used to the new school. I'm not too sure about the boarding part of the school, but I'm sure it's not too bad. Overall, it's good, but could be better.

I am the agent and I refuse to promote this school to any of the students in China even the school can give very good commission. I have to be honest, and this school is definitely NOT a college preparatory school. If you are a rich brat, this could be a place you can spend (waste) your high school years. Teachers took students for college visiting without any targets, and took students with very low TOEFL score or even no TOEFL score to BU or BC and very selected schools, with no appointments or university guide. It was a totally waste of time for the students. And also took students to six flag close to finals on Friday (and call it relax after AP tests). Dorm is luxurious, but with very poor management. Students smoke cigarette, or even marijuana in the dorm... There is no SAT score published by the school (only the top 20% students')

I’m a graduate student of 2018, Cats has a serious problem of finance department, they are not refunding student’s deposits, and keep delaying it, it’s already been half year since I graduate, school did not refund the deposit, I went to school couple times, they give me diverse of excuses instead of refunding it, I have provided all the information the need, and they just keep ignoring my emails and not accept my call!

The single room dorms with on suite bathrooms are amazing. College and University placement counselors go beyond, making sure students are prepared with college applications, teachers recommendations, scholarship searchers and building appropriate college list.

I can't say I really enjoyed it. It was a small school, so chances are everybody is gonna know you. I didn't encounter or see any bullying committed on campus, so that's a good thing. Students were generally nice and helpful, for they are from all over the world and just basically don't know each other very well. Also, the food was out of this world, and the kitchen staff was incredibly friendly, too. However, there were still problems which made up my mind about transferring schools. First, the student body was way too unfavorable. Wanna get the picture? Just imagine that there were 100 students; 40 of them would be Chinese, 25 would be from other Asian countries, 15 from Europe, 10 from Africa, 8 from South America, 1 African American, and 1 white. At the end of the day, you might think that CATS is a perfect choice because there are so many Chinese, and these people are smart as hell. Yes, some of them are, but this school is all about the money! Those in the administration office took in academically poor students but rich as hell and call this school "college prep". The worst part was that I had to put up with these bad influences who not only learned literally nothing in school, but also smoke weed and drank alcohol in the dorm. Second, tuition fee was a big issue. If they offered you like 50% or even 75% "scholarship", just remember that these discounts would be on your academics ONLY, not the whole thing. You'll still have to fully cover your living expenses and others unless you're granted with a 100% scholarship. Last but not least, a few "best of the best" teachers, the ones who really cared about their jobs and students, left because somehow they felt that CATS was not a good environment for them (yeah well, these teachers had told me so). With them gone and the school filled with new, "expert" AP-designated professors, what was there for me to stay? Well, just don't hesitate to cross this school off your list. It is likely that the new campus may seem appealing to you, but trust me, this school will never get better without a revolution, starting with administration. P.S. If you are an international student like me who wants to improve your English, especially your speaking skills, this school is not a place for you to do that. Most of the time, you will end up speaking your native language with students from your home country, and that definitely does not help with the process at all.

I do not understand the bad rep that CATS Academy gets here on google. If you look on Facebook or Boarding School Review it gets very good reviews indeed. I've sent over 15 students to this school and as I type this have 4 students enrolled. The breadth of courses available is outstanding many more than the other private schools in my portfolio. My students say there are activities and excursions each weekend and that the dorms are much better than any other school in the US with each student getting a single en-suite room which unheard of in the US. This is a young school which has grown exponentially very quickly and yet still (according to their latest prospectus) is able to boast 148 acceptances into top 100 colleges and over $3million (!!!) in college scholarship offers. What an amazing achievement! I'd like to thank the team for looking after my students especially the new Principal Mr Angel keep up the great work.
