DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!! I was a former student here. I was bullied and harassed by both students and teachers. And my siblings have experience the same thing. Some of my friends were sexually harassed and I had witnessed. Which is a big No No. Nothing gets done to improve this issue. This school also violates our rights as students. I have read the entire handbook and yet my rights were still violated. I feel like some of the things that the faculty does is a cruel punishment.

There was a time you would have been arrested for producing such literature in the Public School System. I am shocked that you have moved so far from the protection of our children. This is NOT a School I would recomend if they are willing to have a Parent arrested for challenging the board for oking a book with such graphic words all in the sake of "literature". I went to Gilford High School and I personally loved it! Just because a stupid controversy of book is ridiculous. I've read this book and I'm perfectly fine. I loved everyone of my teachers and fellow classmates.

Educators? I think not. Appears as more a lesson in how to act like children. I hope the Dad sues for nothing more then teaching you (the board) a lesson. Common sense and logic is once again tossed aside. The police could have handled it more professionally too. Pathetic.

This is a message to all the faculty and higher administration. How can you be so suppressive when it comes to students exercising their 1st amendment rights? My buddy Nate informed me that you almost suspended him for supporting the NRA pretty much but going off a false accusations about him, so your just gonna give in to the leftist ways? If the kid wants to show his support for the NRA he is more than free to do so because let me tell you something as Active Duty military this make a me very angry to hear that these kids are being forced to silence their beliefs. I took an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States that means I'm defending these kids rights to express whatever the hell they want and that includes showing support for their desired organizations. Stop silencing the majority bc the one is offended at the end of the day everybody is entitled to their first amendment right of free speech, obviously if it's something along the lines of killing someone then yes by all means take action but for something as little as just standing up for an organization he loves? Grow up bc your actions were unacceptable and traitorous in my eyes.

Terible. If you are not normal by societies standards you are going to be treated without respect. The people in the office act like grades are the only thing that matters. Some people are great. But not enough to make it worth it.

I'm an immigrant from China, throughout my childhood, I was educated not to speak up. However, even if I did, I wouldn't have got arrested. This school is a disgrace of this country. I did a little extended research on this school. Wikipedia listed their ONLY notable alumni (Chris Sheridan, television screenwriter for Family Guy). How ironic, this pathetic school and textbook with porn image did help one of their students to become a screenwriter of an adult cartoon full of sexual content and cheap slang.

If I could give 0 stars for these perverted scum I would. But, alas, I cannot. I must give them one star that they do not even deserve. Americans should take their children out of the school system. Let's review the facts: a father is arrested because he objected to the highly pornographic material a book that was being distributed in this public school to 14 year olds like his daughter. No matter what your religious beliefs, every parent has the right to make that decision for their child. This school should be shut down. Do not send your children to this institution run by immoral, lying pieces of garbage.

I honestly hated this school. So happy I moved my junior year. The bullying got so bad that I was deemed "mentally unfit" to attend THIS SCHOOL for the last month of school. I was hospitalized 5 times in less than a year due to the level of bullying going on in this school. Also, the fact that when you go to guidance they're either "too busy" or just plain don't wanna help or listen. Really a disgrace of a school. Bullying gets brushed off and you get told "boys will be boys" and "kids will be kids". This school deserves to be shut down.

The entire school board of Gilford High School, who sat by idly while Mr. Baer was arrested, should resign in well-deserved shame, and exit the building in handcuffs, along with the teacher, under arrest for distributing pornography to minors. I feel sorry for the parents whose children attend Gilford High School. As a character in the "Captain America" movie said, sometimes the best you can do is to start over.

you guys should be embarrassed,,, 14-year-old daughter was a novel that contains a passage so sexually explicit that he described it as “pornographic.” The novel, “Nineteen Minutes,” by Jodi Picoult is a controversial book that tells the story of a fictional school shooting and the people it affects. Though the book has been part of the curriculum in New Hampshire’s Gilford High School since 2007, when it was assigned last Monday, school officials gave no notice to parents of freshmen English students that the book was being read, or of the novel’s sexually explicit content. Here’s an excerpt from the explicit passage: “‘Relax,’ Matt murmured, and then he sank his teeth into her shoulder. He pinned her hands over her head and ground his hips against hers. She could feel his erection, hot against her stomach. ” … She couldn’t remember ever feeling so heavy, as if her heart were beating between her legs. She clawed at Matt’s back to bring him closer. “‘Yeah,’ he groaned, and her pushed her thighs apart. And then suddenly Matt was inside her, pumping so hard that she scooted backward on the carpet, burning the backs of her legs. … (H)e clamped his hand over her mouth and drove harder and harder until Josie felt him come. “Semen, sticky and hot, pooled on the carpet beneath her.”

I went to Gilford and it one of the best public schools in the state screw all u haters. All the teachers were amazing and wonderful. it sad that people base there opinion of one incident that happened.

Appalling! and most disgusting! Everyone in that board room should have been on their feet demanding that their children be treated with respect. Aren't we sending our FBI to Nigeria to rescue 300 little girls who are being treated just like that book, page so and so, is graphically depicting???? Aren't we seeing children murdered in our schools because they live out what they consume in books such as this??? Get a Life! Our grandchildren who did live in NH were Home Schooled, Thank God!

I understand the fact that yes School Shootings are a huge thing and yes they should be stopped but this week my friend got suspended for trying to support his opinion. This makes me upset because it violates the 1st amendment rights. There are also more things about this place like harassment... Teachers harass some of the students in this school for example... Mr Goggin the assistant principal said to one of the former students that he doesn't have friends because the way he acts when he should be helping him recover from that and send them to guidance... instead there's conflict. One time he made me uncomfortable because of a sound I made.. he continued to repeat that sound I made to make fun of me and he laughs about it... don't go to this hell hole

Poor planning and lack of parental notification does not make for good administration. Children learn from adult examples - be an adult and take responsibility for your actions - apologize when required - set the example - SHAME on the school administration.
