As a kid whose father serves in the military, moving around the country and experiencing different schools, I can say hands down that this is the worst school I've ever been to.
For one, the quality of the physical building is extremely poor. There is random trash shoved up against buildings and scattered throughout the campus. The hallways are bottlenecked, dilapidated, and crowded; getting to lunch is a nightmare. Everything the human hand touches here feels unsanitary. On the outside walls green mold is a common sight, and the inside is outdated with exposed pipes and wires on the ceiling.
There isn't a much better scene in the bathroom, with walls that look sticky and floors that feel nasty, even when they've been cleaned. I have seen gang writing on five different spots in the bathrooms, and people routinely come in just to scream and horseplay. As far as trash goes, the staff says it's the students' fault, but it should be the staff's responsibility to maintain the overall building, which obviously hasn't been updated in years. It is so rundown, the only way to effectively maintain it at this point is to tear it down and build it new.
The students here are the most eneducated, disrespectful, untame bunch of people I've ever met in my life. If you want to fit in with a large group of friends, you'll only do so by adapting to the stereotype; air jordan shoes and blasting rap music out of your earbuds at an obnoxious noise level. They routinely disrespect teachers, making learning virtually impossible at times. Most people act like they were raised with no manners, as they push people around in the halls and start fights, which happen regularly. There are GOOD, decent human beings here, however, as are with all other schools, so your not totally alone. My biggest complaint, though, is that the people here aren't open to diversity at all. They're closed-minded, and as I said with the stereotype, if you don't listen to rap music or wear a certain type of shoes, you're not their friend. As I said, there are decent people, and I have respect for them; they aren't like most of the people here. Other than that, it's either uneducated people or rich snobs who think they're better than you.
As for the education, I give it an average, as the teachers here really do care, even if some students are impossible. They will do their best to teach us, and I really appreciate that. The P.E. class, on the other hand, is PITIFUL. The school obviously cares more about football, because as for normal P.E., there is no lesson plan whatsoever and the activity level is ZERO; suprising for physical education. The first day in class we waited for forty minutes for the coaches to introduce themselves. They weren't much better the rest of the semester. They were totally uninspired and lazy, and what miniscule physical activity we got was outweighed by us sitting in the bleachers waiting for class to be over.
The only other thing I have to say is that once I reported a complaint about a student to the front office, and they never took care of it. After one year here, I've had enough, and I'm glad I moved. I just hope that this school fixes its problems so that other people like me won't have to suffer through its arrogance and incompetence.
