The Lord provided an opportunity for me to interview at Alton in January and I have fallen in love with my Pre-K students. From the very first day, I sensed a family bond between the staff. Every morning, my principal checks in my classroom to make sure I’m starting the day off on the right foot and my assistant principal meets all of my 1000 questions with a smile

I am a parent of a student who attends Alton Elementary School. I am also an educator who teaches at Alton Elementary School. To say that my child and I love this place would be an understatement. Administration is so supportive and approachable! Life after high school is constantly discussed with the students. My son is always bragging on how his school is always doing something fun yet educational. Five stars!!!

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work, learn and grow at Alton Elementary. My experience there was nothing shy of impeccable. Administration under the leadership of Dr. Hebert and Mrs. Brandon allowed me the autonomy to make well informed decisions for my students that exceeded far beyond the curriculum. My students soared and so did I. It was also during that time I was able to create lasting relationships with students, their parents and my colleagues at Alton. I count it an honor and privilege to have had the opportunity to be employed at a stellar school where students are always put first! Forever a RAM!

I have been in education for several years and became an educator at Alton Elementary in the 2017-2018 school year. It has hands-down been the best teaching experience I've ever had. Administration is very helpful and positive, the other teachers are encouraging, and the students are absolutely amazing. There are always exciting things going on for the students in their classrooms as well as school-wide programs and events. There is a true sense of community at this school!

My personal experience with the school and my child just attending for 2 months now has been a nightmare. They call me everyday and and complain about something. My son has reported that his 2nd period third grade teacher was so close to his face that he had spit hit him in his face. I have made several complaints about him being bullied and I have heard nothing about any issues resolved. My child picks his nose and his nose started bleeding and they are trying to say that he has self inflicting harm on himself so that he can get out of class. He had a bruise on his left forearm which was a single bruise inconsistent with any story told, and the school counselors called OCS. My son told me the bruise came from school but told the school the bruise came from home. I did not sign for them to do school-based counseling and refused, but yet they keep trying to talk to my son. I have sought professionals that can deal with my child outside the school who are more equipped to deal with him. I do not recommend the school. Everyone that asked me what school he goes to tells me to get him out of the school and how horrible it is. Teachers and staff are very standoffish. My son says his 2nd teacher is racist and always picks on him. My son always feels victimized. They do not know how to deal with children. Poor education and not any justice for the white kid. The school secretary is completely amazing though.

The 2017-2018 school year was my first year at Alton Elementary School. I too was told negative things about Alton prior to starting the school year, so I was nervous about working there. I am a very positive person, so I started the year off with good vibes. I immediately felt at HOME at Alton. EVERYONE - from the administration, office staff, teachers, paraprofessionals, cafeteria staff, custodians, and the students - they all made me feel like I was part of the TEAM from day one. I truly LOVE being at Alton!! I have student's from Kindergarten through 5th grades, so I am in numerous classes throughout the day. The teachers truly CARE and go ABOVE and BEYOND to help ALL students. The students at this small Slidell school are a blessing to be around. The administration makes an effort each day for the students to have FUN while focusing on LEARNING. Each day starts out with Alton's Creed which reenforces the importance of college and self awareness and responsibility. I am PROUD to be a part of Alton's staff!

Awesome staff, great with the kids. They treat the kids like family. They treat the parents like family. Their holiday programs are amazing and enjoyable. I love seeing the kids participate and smile all the time.

There is a lack of education and justice for the student. My son felt personally victimized by students and teachers. They made up racial slurs.

Alton Elementary is ABSOLUTELY the best school EVER. I should know, I’ve been 18 years and both of my kids graduated from ALTON ELEMENTARY!!! I requested this school for my kids because I see commitment and hard work of the entire staff every day. We have the BEST students, teachers, parents and staff in the WORLD!!!
