Now unlike most students on here, I shall give an honest opinion about the school and valid examples and arguments for my opinion. The school simply does not understand freedom and individuality; I understand a school should keep it's halls safe for the students learning inside, however when the school makes a conscious effort to hurt the pride and creativity of those trying to not only educate themselves on biology and chemistry but creative writing, art, and above all learning to be an individual. At Central they do not teach you that; they teach you to follow the crowd with your head down and do as your told. The teachers at Central however are incredible and encourage us to be individuals and fight for what we believe in. Despite this proper education from teachers the administration pushes for conformity and devalues us as students and human beings.

You should try applying to Northeast Magnet. I hear that over there there is an amazing magnet coordinator named Christopher Frank and he is really loving towards his students. They will challenge you as much as Central and prepare you for school but they will not kill you with work. Try magnet then tell me I'm wrong. U will regret coming to this school you will cry everyday to your mommy telling her to transfer you mid year

The bathrooms are not taken care of and most of the male restrooms have no doors and no locks on the stall doors. Many of the kids are stubborn and stuck up with discipline from the teachers or even penalty for late work. if i had the choice i would change high schools because of these and many other reasons.

Biggest High school in St.paul MN which logically means more people will graduate a year. Doesn't at all make it the best high school. If you are into lots of homework and big classes where teachers talk at you for 50min then this fits your learning style. It didn't fit mine though that's for sure.

Fantastic technical school! Really this place is where dreams come to be narrowed down. I came in my freshman year thinking "I can do anything!"; I left thinking "I can do maybe eight things" much more manageable. The teachers are all very helpful, understanding of their subjects, and good with students. As far as I can tell there's only one problem with this school: the SPAGHETTI! I didn't even get to try it! Phil locked it up in the fridge and didn't share with anyone. Even if I did get to try it I'm sure it would be cold, sticky, and taste like it was in the fridge. Come on Phil you really dropped the meatball on this one. As one final remark, it's a great school, but the location, it's right in the middle of the SPAGHETTO! Central Senior and Pseo student at Concordia University currently. Pseo is fairly easy to take at Concordia University because of the short distance between Central and Cconcordia. Central is one of the few Highschools in St. Paul to offer the IB program and the IB program really is worth preparing for college. The teachers are helpful when it comes to academics or personal problems. Most of the teachers at Central also have their masters degree in their class subject. The school organizations are very diverse. From a Hmong club called CHASA, to African Club, Central is a diverse and a well educated school.

We're overrated, even by our students, education wise. However, all the CHS (Philadelphia) students who go to college say college is easy because this school over prepares us. I'm gonna to graduate this year and have to say that this is the best place to go for diversity, especially if you love Asians and Black people. We have this event called international day, and the food is always amazing. Some people bring in nasty stuff, but even if it's nasty, you get to try foods you wouldn't have known were nasty otherwise. The amount of club opportunities here is something unfounded in a smaller high school.

Unless you are prepared to apply yourself and take advantage of the great programs and faculty the school offers, you won't see the value. If I could rate a zero do far the school suck . The kids are bad as well as a few teachers. The 11th grade math teacher just seem like he don't care which bothers me!!! He can not teach and grade wrong .for and example give a 8 question quiz and in stead of making it 10 point , he make it worth 100 points which is unfair. So long story short I fail the test and by him making it worth so much it went down to a F although I have all other work sheets completed. Just think about it 1 test determine you grade.the education has fail black students I don't care what nobody say. The principle didn't do nothing after I told him and he said he would ,it show y he don't care.Over all this school shouldn't be ran and such a manner it not the kids flaut that these teachers don't care,I even tried to get extra credit but he not willing to give it .So here I'm am now don't know what my grade look like do to the unorganized 11th math teacher !!! Once again his name is Mr.shaw 11th grade teacher taking advantage of the system to make his job easy .Someone a central talk to Mr.shaw the 11th grade teacher cause the principle did not do his job either .

They treat athletes better than anyone else including the fine arts department. They only dress code some people not everyone. If you're not in sports or you stay out of trouble, they barely know your name. Until graduation day. Don't allow decorating the caps for graduation but allow honor cords. Even though they don't want us to individualized ourselves. The parking lot is literally a danger zone in all. It takes 30 minutes to get out and accidents happen often. This school made me feel less safe. I'm so glad I'm done with that place. Worst four years of my life.

The amount diversity and social opportunities in this school are amazing! But this school overrated. Some of the teachers (Mr. Copeland) in this school should hardly even be considered teachers, they have no effort in their "teaching" and the school ignores complaints about the teachers and blames the students for failing, it's pathetic. And it amazes me that the school has such a high academic record when over half of the students are averaging C's or failing at least one of their classes. I do not recommend this school to anyone who is okay with constant stress and anxiety over whether you're pass the quarter or not.

Central is a phenomenal school and I would definitely recommend it to people who are in search of a good high school. Although the syllabus can be challenging and the workload torturous, the school makes up for it with its various extracurricular activities, freedom for students, and great teachers. The schoolwork is very rigorous and be prepared for some late nights and early mornings (I'm talking to you, Mr. Two buses and a train). I didn't like the lack of air conditioning in the school and the lockers as all of them are sized differently. Also, the school is in a bad area but always travel with your friends and you're good to go. The lunch periods are always fun as you are allowed to sit anywhere (as long as it is in the school). The students are also very welcoming and no, Freshman Friday isn't as bad as it sounds. Overall, it's a great school and I recommend it to anyone who is willing to make some sacrifices for the sake of an amazing education. Go 276!

Umm I have a question for all of you , who've attended Central. I'm in MG (Mentally Gifted) at my school. I get that I may be smart , but is the art program there, any good? I would also want teachers who I can relate to. Teachers who care about there students. I want an excellent Art program. I have a friend from CAPA , and she says that you musical program is all over the place.Doing the incorrect bowing , and stances. I'm in seventh grade looking for the school of my dreams , even if it might be impossible. I do like a homework , but not a lot. Reading these reviews , it might not be the best for me. Back to my original question. Is the art program any good?

Central High School is an amazing school, but you can't wait there and not participate in anything and expect to have a good time. I loved being around students who truly cared about their future, others, and the world. It was a pleasure learning besides them for 4 years. Of course, we have some bad apples, but majority of the school is filled with hardworking and accepting students. I joined two sports along with choir and participated in the musical and a few other clubs and had the time of my life. Being in this environment allowed for me to create lifelong friendships and to bond with awesome teachers. Go CHS!

I initially desired to attend CAPA for high school. However, my mother told me that if I get in, I was going to Central. I decried her remarks, but alas... Central was the best educational decision I've made, and it snowballed the rest of my academic career. I was aware, resilient, and motivated to take part in the progression of society because of the people I met there. This was during the benevolent reign of President Sheldon S. Pavel. Alrighty, kids, I'll say this. 3 years almost at Central and it's like eating one food every night. You love it so much but after a while it's bland. (but depending on your mood you'll either suddenly love your school or still feel the same when someone starts talking about it...) But if you wanna try Central, just like previous reviews said, get ready for those late nights and sacrifices. There's freedom but there's pressure, too. Just remember to stay true to who you are and don't be afraid of judgement. If you have questions, need help, anything, ask. And keep looking for someone who will help you because I'm telling you, this place gets cut throat sometimes. Do you, but don't do anything that's out-of-this-universe stupid. Do what work you can but, don't overwork yourself, health before anything. Don't let yourself lose your mind because of some social situation. Because that doesn't feel good, either. Do what you like to do. Live a little. But don't rush into just anything, now. Don't be afraid because a lot of others are, too. And lastly, I'll say this. So you're all straight A students looking for the top tier to continue getting those straight A's. Don't count on it. I believe any and all of you have the potential but sometimes things don't go as planned. Don't let that destroy you. A 91 is better than a 60, is it not? There are some who've left because it got to them. Don't let it get to you. Whatever you do and wherever you go, you'll be awesome, even with not-so honor roll marks. This was long and likely made no sense but this is coming from a Junior who knows the struggle is all too real. But good luck with the schools and all. You'll all make great new Lancers.
