I'm so glad that now I have to wait until I'm 53 to see the next eclipse, but, you know, it's alright because every other school system gets to see it at least.

The Wi-Fi is the worst thing in the world horrible learning environment just an all-around god awful School

This has got to be the worst learning environment ever. I can't even begin to describe how awful this situation is. The school is dusty from construction and the amount of chemicals in the air makes it hard to breathe. I swear to God I come home every day with a gosh diddly darn headache from all the toxic fumes in the air and I can't wait to develop lung cancer. THERE IS ASBESTOS IN THIS BUILDING IN WHICH I SPEND MOST OF MY DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK IN, HELLO MESOTHELIOMA. I hate to see what chemicals end up in the cafeteria food, lord help us. The water fountains are toxic and I'm scared to image what I might be drinking. The building smells like smoke every single day. Depending on what hallway you're in it might feel like a sauna or Antarctica because we have no working air conditioning or heating system. We literally do not even have ceiling tiles yet. The power goes out during class, the sound of construction is never ending (yes, even during super important tests), there's so many construction areas to avoid, pipes and light panels fall from the ceiling, there is absolutely no way to feel comfortable, and I'm 100% positive none of this can be safe. So thank you VHS, for making my high school career so memorable.

My time at Valparaiso High School could be described as one giant L, we lack several things which include: Ceiling Panels, a working air conditioning/heating system and WIFI. That purposes a problem when the teachers make all of there lessons with the use of Wireless Internet.

Matt Nondorf

Prepared me very well for college. Can't wait for the remodel to be done and for my kids to go to the same school as their parents. Competitive statewide in most of the extracurriculars.

Dino Nightmare

Construction is so bad I don't understand how they expect anyone to learn. #notenoughsauce

This school has so many flaws. The wifi never works, the construction provides the worst learning experience you could possibly imagine, and the teachers are fired or quit randomly through the year. The air conditioning system is horrid. It's either way too cold or way too hot. Sometimes it's freezing in one hallway and an inferno in the next. The teachers don't take time to teach the material. The 16-17 school year for me was a major L, thanks to VHS.

Better than most school systems in the area.

Once I get cancer from all the asbestos in the ceiling and walls I'm suing this half broken school.

I will give the school 3 stars but I’ll go over cons and pros. Cons ———————————— • Too much public affection with students in front of lockers or in the middle of the hall, not only is it in the way but it’s very rude and uncaring. I don’t care who you’re dating, just move out of the way! • Heating/AC is disabled. • It’s techy, but a con is the WiFi can’t support 2,000+ students. • Some teachers waste valuable class time talking about News/Politics/Sports. (Save it for another time so the homework load evens out.) • Lack of security, there’s a cop, but almost a good portion of doors in the school are unlocked. • It’s cliquey. If you’re a major sports star, you’re out of shape but can bench 300lbs, or you have a flashy Instagram you’re popular. Other students that are very talented in art, or literature can be very unrecognized and deserve more notability. • Laslty Construction, although it’s for improvements it’s a haul, and many chemicals and mildew get students very sick. Pros ———————————— • Honors courses are very well organized. • Staff/ Counselors are helpful, the one in the library I forget her name but she’s amazing, I also love Mrs. Goss! • cafeteria has healthy options and better than expected food. • Some teachers even Tutor students which is helpful. • Lockers are nicely organized, and so are halls, although class relocation is often a little difficult. • Mentally Challenged students are noticed and treated well by peers. • Many programs and events!

Valpo was never a good school and only continues to get worse.

sadly, vhs FAILED to start construction over the summer(LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO) and started when school resumed, I think we should take the L on this one. Thanks for making 2,105 students inhale PUTRID air and dust.

I'm going here next year and my sister already goes, and she always tells me things that happen here. By the looks of the reviews and what my sister says, I'm AFRAID to go here.

I’m not from this area, I moved from St Louis MO, to Valpo about 1 year ago and don’t like it. First, the students here make you feel so unwelcomed and isolated if you’re not deemed there stupid standards. So much arrogance. Secondly, Status. It’s so weird why people here care about a status whether it’s your relationship, finical, social, or athletic status. In St Louis, it’s bigger and no one cares who you are or about your success, no one cares or wants to know where as here in valpo it’s so small and everyone knows everyone. Also, I cannot from any bonds with anyone because everyone here is socially impariered, arrogant, or uncomfortably refuses to talk. Plain weird. Educational wise, it’s good. Sports wise, overall well. However, the last weird thing is the policy of taking a day off. If you are caught up in stress or tiredness and take 1 day off they flip nuts. I have never been to a school that cares more about a few days off than classmates making their “little hang over last night story” a classroom discussion.

Honestly, I wish I could rate a 0. I attend classes here every day, and I get bullied constantly. There are no signs saying where construction is and if you should find a way around it,, so you always run a risk of getting harmed. Practically the entire school is a "hard hat zone" but we can't even wear our hoods up. The school is biased towards white, rich, popular girls who are the definition of "Jersey Shore" with fake blonde hair, bad fake tans, and who are so scrawny you would think they were very ill. There is absolutely no tolerance for open LGBTQ+ people (minus one club that most of us are too afraid to say that we attend.) A Hispanic student gets called out regularly in US History. I have seen teachers participate in bullying, I was forced into classes I didn't even need or want. The school is full of chemicals and general hazards, and everything everywhere smells disgusting. Parents, from a student to you, do NOT send your child to VHS.

I attended this school, and it was a ridiculous, mediocre and pathetic institution. I consider my diploma from VHS more of a mark of shame upon, than a credit to, my name; and if I have one regret in life it is that I did not leave that foul place and get a GED. There were some great teachers there, but they have all been pressured out by the administration. The place is full of closet racists who cover their ill intentions with politically correct nonsense. They swallow every silly trend that comes their way hook, line and sinker. They promote a disgusting hierarchy based upon one's athletic prowess - which incidentally ruins sports for anyone who maintains their sense of perspective and priorities, or who wants so experience some life outside of school. What's more, being largely composed of ignorant people, the school has a very explicit policy of giving grades based on "work ethic," rather than one that actually reflects the students understanding of the subject. I suppose this is because it is much easier to grade "work ethic" than a subject that you are purporting to teach, but that you don't understand. It has been a miracle of bootstraps (re)education if I have constructed one grammatically correct sentence, or spelled one word right in this review, and anything I have ever accomplished in my life has been in spite or, rather than because of, my time spent at VHS.

My favorite place to be was always Zoology with Mrs. Bernardi she is an AMAZING teacher and does an awesome job making the class not feel like a class and still teaching all of the necessary information. If you want a science teacher I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BECAUSE OMG

Wow, Valparaiso High School has such a "great" learning environment. Everyday is a surprise to whether I'm going have a heat stroke from their lack of an a/c or literally freeze to death due to them also not having any sort of heating. In each hallway, you can enjoy a different odor. For example, the main hallway smells like regurgitated chicken nuggets. Appetizing! On the subject of chicken nuggets, the cafeteria always has food that tastes and smells like it's a month old. Another thing is, you will always get to enjoy the unsettling feeling that you might die due to worrying about getting crushed by lights or pipes that stick out from the ceiling due to the lack of ceiling tiles. Last, but not least, you don't have to worry about things getting too quiet due to the loud, monotonous sound of construction that never stops. (:
