Carmel High School is incredible. Of course, not everything is perfect, but nothing is truly perfect. There are so many inspiring teachers here and, due to its size, provides tons of opportunities. The performing arts dept. is especially impressive. This school has very high standards and is such a great place to be.

I noticed a lot of students talking about drugs, etc. Unfortunately, every high school has this problem. The administration does everything possible to keep drugs out of their school. Mrs. McDaniel and Mrs. Wiseman, the assistant principals are helpful and do everything they can on an INDIVIDUAL basis to help their students. The administration cares about their students. Mrs. Knoop, is an amazing counselor. For a large school, Carmel HS makes sure to hire the best administration and provide plenty of resources for their students. My daughter's teachers are wonderful and work late in to the evening to correspond with parents and give their students feedback. Don't let the size of the school fool you! This is a great school and we are fortunate to live here in Carmel.

The school isn't all the best, time and time again people left because of the unsafe environment. Regardless of what parents or teachers think there is a huge problem with drugs there hell when I was in 8th grade a guy I knew got arrested for getting caught with growing 1000$ of marijuana. On top of that the school is FILLED TO THE BRIM, and its impossible to walk in the halls because of the school refusing to separate into 2 school because of the "TOP NOTCH" academic and athletic teams made of like 60 kids, and at their games only 8-15 ever play the rest always sit, so your kids won't truly achieve anything about being in the team since they would only take minor and unnecessary positions. Most teachers don't care about you either because they're grading 200 kids assignments or busy. I would say if you have the choice to go to a private school just do it, trust me the ones in Carmel are still nicer and safer than Carmel and still carry award winning national teams. Carmel is a good public school grade wise, but if your an average kid you will get lost in the crown. And if you slightly above it? They've still got high standards.

Facilities are great, and people can be inviting. Overall lack of cowbell and fire extinguishers. Also the school could use a new mascot. Preferably something jet-plane related. Only other suggestion I would make would be to systematically shut down all elevators in the building, make sports-injured students work for their education. (And administration should really lighten up on practical jokes... It's just a prank bro)

I attended CHS for four years, and they did a great job of preparing me for college. Overall, the teachers there are excellent, and the students create a culture of academic excellence. I am proud to be a Carmel High School Alumnus.

Lots and lots of drugs. People get arrested/suspended every week for drugs. Also, they refuse to build another school because of our "wonderful" academics and athletics programs. Glad I'm switching schools after this year...
