This charter school is a great, free option for Idaho Falls. Their scores were some of the highest compared to all the SE Idaho schools last year. They have several great additional points such as: patriotism, cowboy ethics, money management, & entrepreneurial aspects. The teacher to student ratio is awesome. This is like a throw-back to the good days of teachers who actually cared for their kids & who love to teach.

Very good people with a strong focus on patriotism and developing leadership. They are excellent at addressing with students concerns brought up by parents. The math curriculum is poor. Minimal instruction is provided - kids are expected to refer to a poorly organized online system with scattered links and resources to learn the material. 8th grade english for my daughter consisted of little to no reading, and several lessons started with the teacher saying, "this will probably be a review," followed by lectures on basic grammar terminology learned in elementary school. The school day is an hour longer than it should be with a subpar curriculum and minimal instruction. Additionally, the excessive homework provided is accompanied by confusing, if any, instructional information.

My children have attended the school since it opened in 2013. My kids not only study the core subjects, but every day they leave school inspired.

Kelton Jansen

This is the best school I have ever been in my entire life. I have even been to a New York school and this school is still better.

no luck

This school sucks. They give so much homework, and all the teachers suck. I would highly advise to not go here for middle/high school.

AHCS is not just a 5 star school. AHCS creates hard-working patriots, business professionals, and teaches vital life skills that will lead anyone on the path to success. American Heritage Charter School teaches curriculum that is incomparable to other schools. The curriculum is meant to be challenging and rigorous to teach students how to work hard and be prepared for their future. AHCS provides one-on-one time with teachers and mentors. AHCS has an outstanding staff that truly cares for every student and will do everything they can to help their students succeed. AHCS teaches self-learning methods that encourage students to take advantage of their future. AHCS teaches us to be accountable and to meet dead lines. If some people consider this curriculum to be too hard, then I don't know how anyone would survive real life! At our school, we proudly wear red, white, and blue uniforms resembling our country's flag and also teaching us how to dress professionally for future life. AHCS does all they can to make everyone feel welcome and gives every student the opportunity to excel in anything they do. I am a 9th grader and if I continue on the path AHCS has set for me, I will be a Junior next year. I LOVE IT HERE and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get the best education around, be successful, and have a successful life. Views about what matters most in a school vary. Some believe school is all about the social life. Some believe school is all about the "life experiences". Most do not take their futures seriously. There is one thing to consider: Why was public school created? Public school wasn't organized to increase children's social lives, wardrobes, or popularity. School was created for one reason: to LEARN. The future of the world is in the hands of these future generations. They need to be equipped with all the necessary tools to be outstanding students and citizens. At AHCS, we learn what it means to be an outstanding American. We learn what it means to be a business professional. We learn what it takes to succeed in school and in life. This school isn't just providing a phenomenal education, equipping students with the necessary tools to succeed in high school and beyond, this school is teaching core values, ethics, and principles, shaping students to be strong, proud, and brave patriots.

I absolutely love this school!! Everything that is missing in schools today is found here. My kids have attended since its opening in 2013 and every year the school gets better and better. I love the focus on patriotism and Cowboy ethics. They are making strong future leaders for America!

Small Rural Free Public Charter School. Yearly lottery, many grades have waitlist. Great student to teacher ratio. Rigorous curriculum at all grade levels k-12. Students learn Patriotism, American Heritage, Cowboy Ethics, Dave Ramsey Personal Finance, Leadership Academy, Entrepreneurship, Essential 55, Great Expectations, Sweat Pledge by Mike Rowe and the secondary school uses Summit Learning Curriculum. Many after school clubs and fun activities. Students who meet grade requirements can try out and if selected participate in nearby public school sports teams. Zero tolerance for bullying. Students at secondary level are expected to take ownership and responsibility for their learning so teachers have an active role as mentors to teach them these valuable life skills in addition to teaching mastery of subject matter. Students help clean and take care of the school. Elementary school building built in 1927 and restored in 2013 is an historical landmark listed on the national registry. There is a strict dress code that is enforced. This charter school is not for everyone but it is an excellent school of choice.

As a business professional, new to the state, I was stunned at the lack of security of the children, unprofessional staff behavior & the blatant disregard for how the students treat one another. As educators & adults the responsibility falls on the staff to ensure bullying is not occurring & when it does, acknowledge & act accordingly. I also would not recommend this school to any parent that wants their child to have freedom of thoughts & ideas without being ridiculed because they are different or think differently as they learn. When given criticism, they should listen to the feedback and ideas instead of threatening the child's education. Very poorly ran school in my opinion.

It's an okay school but I would go for Eagle Rock when you get into middle school.

We have two of our kids go here. It couldn't be better! There's uniforms (I had to get used to the idea) to keep a level field for the kids. The teachers are amazing.

Will Simms

This is one of the best schools I have ever been to. It has a great family environment and an excellent learning system.

Steven Orme

A historic building, and wonderful school settings. A true classic!

This is the best school in Idaho Falls in my opinion for teaching our children the values of American Heritage along with their formal education. Our kids have excelled in their academic performance as well in several leadership opportunities. The teachers are Top Notch instructors and the Principle is the most committed school administrator I have ever know to date. He is also involved in teaching some elective classes to the higher grades and go the extra mile in every area to make the school a success. The school has sponsored some great events for our community such as meet the Mayor candidates evening, Breakfast with George Washington and some fund raiser dinners. We high recommend you consider sending your children to this school should you ever have the chance. Dr. Jacobson Park West Dental Care
