Mt. Zion Elementary School, should close their doors to being a school. This Elementary School is a poor representation of what a school should be. I have never encountered a school that doesn't have structure. Horrfic is what I describe this school as being. Any given day you can walk in and see things that you would be amazed about. Kids are out of control, the staff is in a circle having a conversation or talking on their cellphones. The front office is a big mess with the staff hanging out. Secretary should have been retired a long time ago. She can be rude and has a short fuse. Most of the staff you seek help from are rude. Principal Harris and Assistant Principal Span doesn't appear to have this school under control. I feel they have become immune to our complaints as parents & grandparents. Points: Poor leadership, Rude staff, A school with no structure, Over crowded classrooms. Kids out of control, Older staff should be out or retired no patience with their over crowded classrooms of children. Poor Janitorial Service, Bathrooms are nasty, no soap or towels for kids to use, not even hand sanitizer being used, even tho you buy for the school. Cafeteria staff, some are rude and food is Awful...This has been the worse school year. I had to remove my grandson from this school...It was a bad dream for us. He use to cry every morning knowing he had to go and encounter the everyday stress he had to deal with, the kids and the teachers. He felt no love here. He complained of headaches everyday and gained a tremendous amount of weight due to the stress he encountered from being at this school. I felt he was treated different because he was biracial by the kids, his teachers and other staff members, (Black & Mexican) and an only kid. I will never put him in a school that doesn't have structure, better leadership and a Professional staff again. Possibly home schooling. Some public schools are not what they need to be, especially Mt. Zion Elementary School...

I am new to Clayton County and to Georgia. Since the beginning of the school year I have experienced nothing but issues at this school. I am far from perfect but I know that they really need to re-evaluate some of these teachers. They do not communicate. I have sent numerous emails that have gone unanswered and I am sick of it. SO I sent it the Principal. Each week I get a different story as to when they are going to make my daughter's teacher accountable for what she does. The homework doesn't make any sense at all. It is almost like I feel my girls are behind but its not them its her. She has a nasty attitude and I am sick of it. Administration not doing anything about it. Mrs. Edmond does not talk to any of the parents. I have talked with several parents with the same issue however nothing has been done. This has been going on for two months now and still is unresolved. My other daughter is in Kindergarten and I have had nothing but ongoing issues with her teacher as well. NO COMMUNICATION. You email and she never emails back. I don't get it. The front staff answers the phone Yes. Not hello not Mt Zion Primary, but YES. Really I have never in my life experienced so much chaos! The only great thing about this school is that it is clean and Mrs. Pugh the Assistant Principal is very helpful. My next step is to get a superintendent I bet they will talk then!

The front office staff is rude and unprofessional. My son had the worst experience with his teacher Mrs.Burden, (4th grade) and had to be removed from her class. This school seriously needs improvement all around.

It is a terrible school. The staff in the office are so rude. The food is horrible. Once I got a hamburger the meat was still pink with plastic in side.I've been to this school from 3rd grade - 5th grade. The only nice teachers are Ms.Alferi,Ms.Cooper, and Ms.Jennings. I'm so glad I am going to middle school

First impressions are everything, and this school lacks it! The front office staff is rude, not professional and cannot provide information to any questions or concerns. I just relocated here from Florida and have been to the school three times trying to register my children. I pray this is not an indication of the school year and of the teachers. The principal should be aware that his/her front office staff represents them and their school. I would suggest a better front, or some training for those ladies in the front. Mrs. Clarington the counselor was very pleasant, warm, professional and helping. She got the job done.

All I have to say is that the nurse, Ms. Dowson is a joke. She has no knowledge of what she talking about and only repeats others "input". She's an echo when you're trying to talk to someone, and she makes no sense. If anyone can get an RN degree, then I feel sorry for the kids at this school. Just pray that your child doesn't bump his head.

The rudest staff its one lady that works in the office thats nice but that ghetto one i cant deal. Called to ask could she tell me what time the bus wilk drop my child off she was so rude about it. Maybe next time i need to act ghetto also next time. The other lady told me but she told me she could not. Why do they hire these people with these attitudes i truly can act a fool but its crazy first incident with a teacher being rude now office staff. I knw for a fact soon as i get a chance my child will be removed from this mess.

Wow! I am responding to Adreal Dizo's post. Mount Zion Elementary is a wonderful school and Mrs. Burden is an AMAZING teacher! Mrs. Burden has taught three of my children over the years and I absolutely love her! Mrs. Burden is knowledgeable, dedicated, and respectful. Mrs. Burden takes time out for her students just like several of the other teachers at the school. I suggest that anyone reading these reviews actually go and visit the school and make a decision based on their own experience. Please let the reviews of these irate parents who possibly can't control or TEACH their own kids go. Parents, make your own choices.

School is trash, the teachers could be better, some are cool , others have absolutely no patience and yell at the kids(horribly) . I ate Lunch with my child it is repulsive(started packing lunches). Few of the teachers seem bothered by mixed race children also barely any diversity(both children and teachers) Primarily Black school. They send your child home with packets worth of homework(primary school ,K-3) every week, yet my child learns more from the stuff i teach them. Field day/Track and field is literally recess(kids running around/ no trophies or ribbons given) while teachers text or chat. Play ground is very small. Barely enough space for a entire class, yet they have 3 or 4 classes out at a time. A teacher encouraged my child to get bullied(yet she still has her job). Do not recommend, ever!!

Terrible school! I went to this school 3rd through 5th and its terrible! Terrible lunch, rude staff, and rude principal! I asked "Ms Harris, do u know where ms cippulo's room is and she looked at me and said " the popcorn money goes in the office" but she said it in an attitude! Mr Span, is the as principal but hes always there! And the principle is never there! Im going to Rex Mill middle school this year and i hope it'll be wayy better. Btw, there were to blackouts and we had a nacho pack. But it wasn't nachos, it was just crackers and frozen cheese! 3rd through 5th grade was terrible

My son is in Kindergarten, just background i am a single parent here in GA and I work REALLY HARD ! WHEN I SAY THIS SCHOOL HAS DONE NOTHING but make it difficult for me! that doesnt even do it justice STAFF RUDE! MINUS VERY FEW ! TEACHERS LAZY AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN! CAMPUS KIDZ DIRECTOR HIGHLY BITTER (DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD THERE) MS. HERD THE COUNSELOR IS BEYOND RUDE!!! I TOOK SO MUCH CRAP ALL THE ATTITUDES UNTIL THIS MORNING AND EVEN THEN BECAUSE I AM RESPECTFUL I DIDN'T ALLOW IT TO GET ME STRAIGHT OUT MY CHARACTER! I HAVE WITHDRAWN MY SON AND IT WAS ONE OF MY BEST DECISION ENDING 2016 !!!
