When I first sent my son to this school, I was a little bit intimidated by the high expectations high achievements. But my son wasn't learning at Cherry Street he went from F's to making the A's! I think it's definitely great for children to learn respect and manners.

I want to give my honest opinion about this school. Just because North Bay Haven is an ‘A’ school, doesn’t mean the education there is all that different. I only went there for 2 years (6th and 7th grade) and it’s just like a public school. You are still being taught the basic Florida Standards, the only difference is that you cover things just a LITTLE faster. Also, some of the teachers do not know how to explain things to their students. Maybe I might’ve had a tough time understanding what my teacher was trying to teach me, but I’ve asked so many of my other classmates at the time what they thought of the teacher, and they said they did not like how the teacher was teaching which gave them a tough time in class. I often strive towards good grades, but how am I supposed to understand what the lesson is when my teacher can’t properly teach us how to do it? So most of the time, I relied on online resources such as Khan Academy. I would’ve loved to transfer out of that class, but no other teacher at the time was teaching Advanced Pre-Algebra. At least I managed to pass with a B+ and sometimes an A. I’m not saying that this school is completely terrible, yes they do have some good oppurtunities and other extra-curricular acvtivities that you may not be able to find at other local middle schools, but they aren’t different from a normal middle school. You have to pay fees for lockers, textbooks, planners, gym uniforms, and actual school uniforms (trust me, there are more fees than the ones I listed.) Even though your taxes is how public school gets their money, it’s still way cheaper compared to the outrageous amounts of money you have to spend on uniforms alone. The kids there are pretty nice and easy to get along with but not all kids are good, I’ve seen some of the stupid stuff that happened at that school. I’m still pretty mad that they had to ‘kick’ me out of the school just because I was going on a 1 month vacation. They didn’t kick me out, but they wouldn’t let me come back the next year since I went on the trip. I had to apply to a new school, and they let me stay and take my vacation while saving my spot in Pre-AP. Now that I go to a new school, the teachers actually teach PROPERLY and I can understand what they’re teaching me. The kids there are friendly and sweet as well, and although I dearly miss all of my wonderful friends, classmates, and some of the only good teachers at NBH, I’m definetely not going to be missing the school and its horrible staff. Literally one time, I sprained my ankle and one of the PE coaches told me to go to the office and laughed at me while I was walking away. I’m so glad that I’m never going to see that coach again. The only good thing at that school was its students (the ones I became friends with at least) and that Civics project Mrs.Thompson made us do, where we had to volunteer at places, because I got my cat from the place I volunteered at. I just wanted to let people know what to expect from this school because people make it seem like it’s the perfect place for your child to go, but it’s still a regular school. No matter how much money you pay for a school, it’s the students who have to put forth the effort to get the grades they want, and for the teachers to at least try and teach/communicate with the students properly. (EDIT: I just wanted to say that Mrs.Sander’s is probably one of the best teachers I’ve ever had the opportunity to meet. Not only was she a great science teacher and taught her material thoroughly while providing online resources for all her students, she was the ONLY teacher who reached out to me and tried to help out with the situation of me getting “kicked” out of the school. She was such a good teacher, I hope she teaches again, and for everyone who disliked her, I hope you realize what a wonderful person she truly is. She was super sweet and funny, I hope she reads this because I want her and other peers to realize what an amazing and caring teacher she is! She’s my favorite teacher. Ever. I hope I get an opportunity to talk to her in person again.)

Have had two students in NBH. First graduated and went on to graduate from college with high honors. Second is excelling in all subjects. I have been reading through the reviews, many of which seem to be from students, the bottom line is high expectations. Don’t go to NBH and expect to float through. If you can’t behave you won’t make it.

All of the people complaining are complaining about 2 things. 1, the lunch, and 2, the difficulty. Food is an incredibly menial part of the day. The quality of the food has no bearing on how good the education is. 2, the difficulty is there because of the opportunities. If you cant handle the added difficulty, then go populate a public school instead of wasting the time of the teachers and students around you. This school has some of the most amazing opportunities that can be offered, and the schools business model is simply stunning. I challenge you to name another nearby school that allows you to graduate with an associates degree. name another school that you can get A+ certifications in, and make 60k a year straight out of high school. there is a reason you cant. These students fail to see the potential placed in front of them, and as a result make the environment worse all together. Don't get me wrong, there are some great people there, but there are so many kids that are just wasting the teachers time. I used to be a troubled student, and I nearly failed out of this school twice. As soon as i realized what this school could do for me, i immediately saw improvement. Also, if im being honest, the hot dogs gren like gras so 1 star.

OMG, where do i start, the food is green, the lettuce is drowned in dressing, all the meat is pulled out of a grocery outlet, the catfish is deep fried and is brown and black on the inside, and the teachers, way to loud, get triggered easily, they pick favorites, and if your bad they screw up your grades, this school is leading on communism, hopefully I’m correct about these accusations.

The teachers are all great and work to help students with anything and offer to help before school if needed. There is a large and clean campus with great curriculum for learning. Their motto is High Expectations, High achievements. Students can get very involved with numerous activities and clubs such as choir and band. They offer Pre-k through 12th grade with classes of all levels.

The school has to much communism MY GOD!!!! Where do I start. The hot dogs are gren like grass. inside the chicken nuggets are pink and the fries are so soggy and salty. You can get written up for anything. Not enough ramen. Welp at least we can have book bags in our classes.Still needs to improve.

North Bay Haven can seem like a strict school, due to its dress codes and expectations. In all honestly its good that NBH has these rules laid out among the students that attend. The generations are getting more and more lazy , as well as disrespectful. Its understandable that you cant be a perfect all 'A' student., but that is why NBH gives credit opportunity and extra help to kids who need it. I do struggle sometimes in school, everyone does one point in their life. The fact about it though is I struggled because I stopped studying and trying in school, normally I would end up playing games when I got home rather than finishing my homework first. Now I am repeating algebra 1A. ( Most schools do NOT let you repeat but NBH lets you, and when you pass it drops your original failing grade and replaces it with your passing grade. ) I did have a 20% in Algebra 1A. Now that I am trying im making a 95%. Last thing before I stop blabbering all over, Recently at Surf-Side a suicide has taken place, apparently a 12 year old girl was being bullied, she got hate text and was 'forced' into fights. The school was even notified about it but they continued to not take action. If she went to NBH this would not have happened, the guidance would have called the students who were involved and sorted things out. From personal experience they even care about you, they noticed if your not doing well and ask for your comment to see if everything is fine. Teachers are sometimes like communists , and too much propaganda about high expectations high achievement. I think this is the best highschool however. Also SOME admin are terrible.(ahem mclaughlin) Most are ok

As a froot and a trash can I was deeply disrespected by the way the students littered around campus. This isn’t right, us trash cans need food and it’s not very fun to see our next meal right out of reach. Two stars, I’m hungry.

Im dissapointed in how these other students have rated the school i believe that the teachers actually do want to help us and that we are given all the tools we need to succeed.The problem with those other students it that they likely did poorly but blamed others for their shortcomings which is not the bay haven way.

Hello. Ive brought myself to review this school because I’ve felt like enough is enough. I’ve been going to this school since 3rd grade and to this day I’m in 7th. The math teachers here like to act like they know what they’re doing, but I don’t even think they know how to solve most of the problems we’re doing and don’t even go over it with us. Throughout my rough 3 and a half years here I’ve only had a handful of the teachers be great and the rest were just trash. If you’re in 6th grade try to get into mrs Morris’s reading class and mrs Howard’s math class because they know where it’s at. DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE STUDENTS. The children that attend this school have a certain criteria you have to meet to be seen as “cool” or “popular” and if you don’t meet this criteria you’re seen as a reject and shouldn’t be even looked at. Don’t try and even think that the people that go here are any better, because like any other school there’s people fighting and juuling everywhere you turn. If you still want to go to this school even after the warnings from me and other students that you’ve recieved, let me inlighten you on the lunches. You might as well just bring your own lunch because the lunch YOU PAY FOR is trash. The lunch ladies aren’t given the right ingredients for a well rounded meal to serve and most kids go starving. Thank you for listening to my hatred towards this school and I hope you feel somewhat similar. For us fellow “bucs” May we rise and overtake this school and show them our feelings. STUDENTS HAVE FEELINGS TOO. LIKE THIS POST IF YOU THINK OUR VOICES SHOULD BE HEARD.
