The school is Ok. It isn't as bad as people think. The teachers are improving and the students are following suit. The books aren't all torn up and written in, like someone said here, but I will admit a few of them are. There aren't really 'gangs' anymore, now it is just small groups that walk around and instigate, and the occasional 'I am in a real gang!' poser. I like the school, and there are alot of kids who are starting to step up, and grow up and most of the students are actually learning. We may not get a good 'rep' but we certainly should. Im about to go into the 11th grade by the way, so if anyone needs a friend I am here

I came here for four years and i admit this place is a BAD school. for people who think about the gangs there are but there just fake all they do is walk around in groups instigating people. for the drug thing i remember seeing people walk across the other side of the street puffing a few or going to the park in the back. you can think of it as a pyramid the top 5, 10, 15, percent of people are good doing there AP class away from everybody else including those teachers there are the clubs and sports that do the same. everything else on the other hand is nothing but mediocre and ghetto with a decent number of dumb people that eventually get kicked out for doing almost anything bad grades, fighting over every little stupid thing they get from somebody, security guards don't do anything unless its a teacher whose being hit. as for the police that's in front of the school he doesn't really care all he does is sit in his car all day. trust me when i say that those who don't get kicked and get there diploma after they graduate some of them are not even doing anything to make a living i am not saying everybody is like that i am saying the number of those types are pretty high and there are some decent teachers and counselors but the risk is not worth the take. draw a circle of a 5 mile radius around and look at what you see a environment that's kinda run down. this place is not gonna change no matter what programs you modify it if you have the chance to leave take it you might be better off. once a RIDGE RAT always a RIDGE RAT. ghetto place filled with a bunch of rats, bottom-feeders and outcast

My daughter attended this school and not only are most if not all staff members rude and lazy the school is drug infested and word to the wise don't take candy from no one for it is dipped in some kind of drug. Morales is the only AP i would say that was worth the time to deal with.

The school staff are very rude and unprofessional, all the way up to the principle. They closed the office for the staff to go get some “goodies” from the cafeteria. I heard an office worker tell one parent “I don’t care, you the one that needs to get your child in school not me.”

Its not hard to tell where the lack of class and manners in the students comes from. Mainly in the Main Office where no one but students answer the phone often rudely and hang up.I finally got a hold of the ADULT who is supposed to be in charge of transcripts. She very rudely seemed annoyed from the beginning that she actually HAD TO DO HER JOB. Then got frustrated with me because she didn't understand what had already been done. She proceeded to escalate her tone and hung up the phone. & Then people in town wonder why the kids there all end up on the street. GARBAGE

I am from the class of 1985. Southridge was awesome back in the day. The teachers staff was awesome. There was a Janitor his name was MR. Moss the son of Winston Moss from the NFL. Even that his son was with the NFL and well off he loved us kids. He would not quite. And there was Coach Gross he had passionate way about with the Handicap Students. He felt like the Handicap Students was no different than the others. Then there was Mrs White what a awesome teacher. The pep rally we had a principal that love showing his RED SOCKS OFF. To the Class of today and future all I can leave you with is what ever you get out of, Miami Southridge put something back leave it better than when you came there. Make Southridge the talk of the town for the good not negative Make Southridge Shine of all CLASSES TO COME. GO SPARTANS.

This school is trash I've been going here for 3 years and tbh it feels like if the staff is sometimes out to get you. Some staff looks out for you but the majority are just there to get there payccheck and leave they have no concern for the students only to get through the day and go home. Dont come just go to another school.

I attend Southridge at the moment and I absolutely hate it! Coming from Broward County Schools, it's a major transition. The teachers don't care so the students don't care. The teachers aren't teaching b/c they want to. They're teaching for a check. The person to really blame is the government. All of the books are old and torn and written in and the gov/teachers fail to realize the only reason students act this way is b/c we're treated like idiots, like we don't have common sense. According to one of my teachers , this school has an 11% drop out rate. And only 41% enroll into a college/university. I'm pretty sure, most of the people included in that 41% play a sport and are going to school on a full or half paid scholarship. I'm a junior. 11th grade. My English teacher told us to get into groups of 4 to write a 5 paragraph essay -____- . again, I'm in the 11th grade. I feel like Dade County Schools period, FLORIDA in general, doesn't offer quality education to students.
