I learned more at home in an hour then i would in a week in about 75% of my class"s. This not being the teachers fault , but common core and education in general. Students do not listen the same way , hear the same way, evaulate the same way, and think the same way. Therefor , students do not learn at the same rate . I had multiple kids in my class"s who didnt deserve to pass 9th grade ;However the school is so focused on there passing rate that unintelligent kids end up in the same class"s as adv. Teachers should not have to stop and repeat themseleves nor should they worry about what the student is doing (on their phones, etc). They are there to teach, its the students choice to comprehend it . Teachers would constantly repeat and go over already said and taught lessons in ap and aice courses . Hence , why i was able to to learn more in an hour reading the textbook then i could in a week in the classrooms . The majority of school time is spent by teachers rambling on current events or watching videos with no link to the course itself . 80% of my time was wasted learning nothing , 20% was entertained by excellent teaching . Theres very few teachers that are nice and relatable to students. While i was there i had two differnt deans aswell because they switched/ Changed admin. My first made highschool a living hell, while my second treated me as a college student and didnt hover over my every step and attendence . Your experience depends on our dean /teachers.
