My son has never been happier while also feeling challenged. He was warmly embraced as a new day student. He is integrated into student life and part of a dorm - his teachers are first rate and very accessible. Communication with parents is excellent. The Gunnery is a top notch, best kept secret for sure.

When my nephew was going to school there he had some terrifying personal uncalled for incidents because he was quiet and didn't fit in with the uppity general clientele .They rassed him and sometimes bullied him also to a point one time the drew on him with Black magic marker and bullied and pushed him into one of the closets and locked him in there for a little while. Where was the teacher. This made me extremely angry and I thought a school of that caliber would not allow this kind of behavior to ever happen not so. And you're also paying $40,000 per year to put your child through a school like this in which you believed to be one of the better schools with your child getting a well rounded education so he or she can have better credentials in going into a college of choice with a kind of head start than some or most of the other students starting off their freshman year in college and then building a good career to get a good start in life. DON'T BE FOOLED. not everything is as it seems to be on the outside. I just hope these types of uncalled incidents do not affect him in the long run. It just goes to show you things are not always as you think they would be. And also talk with your child and with his or her friends cause sometimes you can get a different story, maybe the truth.

An old best kept secret that is growing in every way. I attended The Gunnery School as a PG in 1997-98 and it was an overall fantastic experience from the teachers, classmates, sports, structure, and of course the overall surroundings. Washington, CT was a mystery to me but I often rave on how beautiful it is. I used the Mayflower Inn and Spa as bait to have my wife make the trip with me but she too appreciated the beauty and feel of the school. It has that affect to feel like you have been there before or like home. Overall, a great place for a student that is looking for a place to grow as an individual but have the leadership and wisdom of an excellent and caring faculty.
