When going here I had so many issues. When I had a problem that was serious they did not take it into consideration. I think the worst teacher who still works there is Ms. Pertab. She was always there to put me down about my art because it wasn't her way. She had contacted a guidance counselor because I drew something scary even though the assignment was to draw an emotion, not my emotion. So I drew a guy with his eye out and used the emotion if anger. She would make it a point to give me bad grades because something wasn't her way. Then once I had to get her marked up. I only ever did this once. It happened twice more and she would tell students that I did it and they would come up to me nasty and ask me about it. Then my last year I was supposed to get a scholarship. During the whole year I kept talking about going to College almost every day and when the time came a person who held the scholarship asked her if I was going to college and she told them no. And when I confronted her about it she told me another girl had gotten it. For honors night no teachers are supposed to discuss any info about it to any students. She had told me a name and I went to the guidance office about it. They were shocked that I had this info and for a while she was supposed to be getting in trouble. They told me she would probably be fired because of all the issues. When I graduated she wasn't allowed to come. After that the school figured I'd be gone so she went along with her job to this day. The school seemed to not care about any of it. When it was happening I would go to the dean's office every day asking if anything had been done and they kept telling me they forgot to do it. I have lost all hope in this school.

Naugatuck High school restricts the freedom of the students to a point where it’s almost like a prison. You’re not allowed to leave the cafeteria and eat in a classroom or anywhere else because there are teachers guarding the perimeter like they’re prison guards. After the 80 MILLION dollar renovation we were not allowed to use the new benches during study halls. If you wanted some quiet time during your cafe study you would have to go the library and get a pass. And even the passes don’t prevent you from getting in trouble for walking in the halls. On one occurrence, I got a pass to go to the resource center from my cafe study teacher. I started to walk to the bathrooom before going to the rc, not disturbing anyone mind you, till one of my teachers stopped me and asked for a pass. I showed him my pass and he saw it was for the rc. I told him I was stopping by the bathroom first and he told me to stop wandering. Later, my algebra teacher (who also was my cafe study teacher) told me that she would no longer be signing my passes for cafe study! If you get sore from sitting in a hard seat all day and want to walk for a bit during cafe study, watch out because you’ll be punished even if you have a pass and don’t disturb anyone. Sad!

Naugy high is when push comes to shove a very good school however the Deans don't exactly understand kids that go through depression very much and through some of my friends experiences (that will not be named) said they don't do anything at all for the students even if they reach out towards them , don't do anything twoards their situation even if they have suicidal thoughts or do self harm. Also the fights in this school are out of control and the people who run it need to make it so students can be safe. -NC
