My name is Eden and I been in this school for 6 years. This school is great because, teachers here make sure the students get the lesson.Teachers here help us students exceed. Everyone also is really nice and friendly.Our school is diverse with different people around the world.There is also after school programs and activities to choose from. An example is robotics. We entered FLL this year for the Hydrodynamics 2017 Competition. We made it all the way to state. We will be going there on December 16.In my opinion Lotus improved a lot in these past years.I really improved myself too, emotionally and educationally here.Lotus School for Excellence is surely one of the best school in Colorado.☺

Teachers help.other students bully there classmates the food there is never cooked and people and I have gotten sick multiple time from the food they charge you extensive fees the toliets are always clogged sometimes there are no tissues in the bathrooms the classrooms are always on 50degrees and under new principle which I've witnessed actively getting involved with students, in an inapropreate manner teachers give up on you some teachers you can't even understand because they don't speak good English some teachers don't even teach students are racist they never have enough substitutes but want to keep firing teachers kids will bring liquor and weed to school kids will ditch classes and they don't even care but when when you wear different collard clothing under the uniform your not allowed to teachers will give you a detention for putting on a hoodie or jacket while your heading out for lunch the floor by the stairs has a large dent in it they do nothing for bullying issues and act like they care when a parent complains but does nothing and the students continue to bully others and the teachers will just give out a work sheet and tell you to do it without teaching you the curriculum the whole school is out of line it is absolutely the worst school I have ever been to and i have been to over 10 schools in my life time lotus sucks and you should not send your child here the school force children to take certain classes that they are not comptibal with or do not want to be in just like AP classes they forced people to take the classes they have hired teachers that have a criminal background all the funds and donations they get don't even go to the school there has been incidents where a teacher has ether been racist to a student or has put there hands on them some of the teachers will bring there life problem into the classroom making it uncomptibale and in professional for the students bulling at the school becomes so servere that students don't even go down for lunch because of the bulling they hire unfit and unstable teachers to teach the classes teachers will let kids do whatever they want in the classrooms and anywhere else I am not coming back to this school ever again even if that means I have to get my self expelled that's how horrible this school is then when the truth gets out lotus trys to act like there care don't waste your money here and if you already have a student who goes here you should consider transferring them to a new school there has also been incidents where students private info have been sent out to students around the school and where kids have threaten to shoot up the school after being expelled this school is unsafe unstable and unsuitable for any ones education 0 stars if I could

I've been at LOTUS for 2 years it is Extraordinary here. Here at lotus the staff and teachers are great they really care about the students education, they never leave a student behind their education even if there is a student who can't understand English well or with a disability they treat everybody equally no matter what. Also our school has no bulling or discrimination. In addition, our school has lots of clubs one of the club is robotics. Robotics is where you get to learn how to speak with confident with important people , learn core values that helps you to be a great citizen. We have great school spirit , we are like a big family family here at Lotus. Our school also care for community, organize so many event to support to organizations like food bank!! Lotus environment is unforgettable,and I would recommend it for anyone who likes to learn.

This school is very horrible almost all of the teacher have either gotten fired or have quit they hired an 8th grade science who was wanted for drugs in a another state the school takes pictur es of peoples cars without their permission this school also claims that they are the number one most challenging highschool in america all of the teachers are unfair and have favorites so if you are thinking of moving your children here dont.

So far this 2017 year is absurd. I'm in 7th grade and so far almost all of my teachers left ( without saying anything either). They either had a problem with the school or students. This school is very unorganized. Most kids are leaving next year because of how much this school really distresses them. I also want to talk about the uniforms. I'm assuming the school really wants to suck the money out of you. The uniforms can cost up to $40 . If a student takes gym in a period (which they may have to), they will have to buy a gym uniform (the shirt and the pants/shorts) it could cost up to $20. Maybe the logo and the material is expensive. I understand the school should make more money but its pretty pricey. For lunch, it's not that good but it costs a lot. Even if you sign for free lunch, they still charge you and it will pile up the money. Next thing you know, they charge from your credit card or collections. Honestly, the deans and the principal are not really at the school. When you try to see them during school. They are probably are not at their office. There has also been an issue involving teachers with criminal backgrounds due to the negligence of the administration. Additionally, the current middle school dean, Ms. Rittenhouse, is counter productive. During the beginning of the school year, Ms. Rittenhouse told my parent that I was going to be in honors. Coming to the first day of school, I found myself not in Honors. That wasted my time. She's not very open with students and doesn't engage in a full on conversation. In the beginning of the year, my parents talked to Ms. Rittenhouse regarding my position in another class. She just said to wait for Map testing, that was it. Additionally, the school years was better when the other deans that left the school, Mr. Oz and Mr. Gordon, was there. Plus, the school is not very enjoyable. During classes, It could be fun, But during prep allies they just want us to sit down and stay quiet. Is that really school spirit? They also stopped senior prank. That day was supposed to be amusing. It's funny and stupid. But I guess it was " too much to handle," for the administration. To top it all off, the parents don't get emails or some contact regarding changes in the school. Also, not many families have electronics at their house or a computer. It's hard to get one of those when you have a family to support. But there are positive sense, where some teachers are engaged with the students and want to challenged them. There are many after school clubs and sports that a student could do. There is a lot of diversity and most people are friendly. You get to learn different languages and the education is exceptional. You learn different subjects and sometimes it could be fun. Finally, I hope you find a more desirable school than this one.

I'm just wondering what kind of "school" would hire a general contractor who has been to PRISON to work at the school. It's really ok because he only defrauded a few senior citizens out of a couple million. Aren't we as a society judged as to how we treat our elderly? Just Google the name BRIAN PENDERGRAST and take a peek. This information was readily available without any digging. So, this administration thinks that it's ok to hire ex-cons to work around your children. Well done Lotus school! Maybe next time you could perform what's called a " background " check on individuals before they're hired.

I cant say enough good things about this school. The school itself is excellent and probably one of the best schools in APS. The principal is very good and really spends a lot of time with parents and the kids. The whole staff I have dealt with from the secretary to the teachers have been wonderful. Teachers are very engaged with students. Very good programs for all levels of education.My son is challenged, growing academically and is safe. I couldnt have been happier with sending my son to this school. I would highly recommend this school.

This school is the worst school ever. I went to this school a couple years back, and no NOTHING has changed. The teachers are all still very mean. Plus, most of the "good" replies are from the horrible teachers here, just to make this school look good. There is some good teachers. But most of them are bad. This school is soo un-organized that they have to have EXTRA volunteers (that don't get paid). I had 3 other siblings that went here, and Mr. Dayleon (the one that blows the whistle to act like he's cool) told both of my brothers to shut up 3 times. Plus, the teachers cuss at this school. If you want your kid(s) to have bad examples all the time and fail at school because the teachers are too busy talking about their "horrible lives". Well then this is the school for your child. Just because it's a charter school, doesn't mean it's good.

If you love your kids do not take them here. Lotus is so dirty. The elevator is dangerous. Its not even properly connected. The teachers are so rude and disrespectful. They are not racist but they are nasty. Bathrooms smell like some type of used pad. The summer school will stress you out really bad. And they dont even teach good education. only 6th grade teachers and 7th grade teachers.

I love this school! If you're a parent that encourages and values achievement, and has an expectation that they will attend college then this is a great fit for you. If you have a child who has behavioral problems, he/she may struggle here. Academics are the focus. The teachers are kind and caring, and want to see each child succeed. One of the greatest things is the ability grouping. if academically they are at that level, and each grade level is broken up into at least 3 ability groups. The intervention when students aren't at grade level is impressive; 100% of last year's graduating class (apx 60students) was accepted to college. I agree it's not the perfect school for everyone, but it has been perfect for us, and all students who have thrived here.

I love it so far! The staff is helpful and friendly. There are different secretaries for the different schools: elementary, middle and high school. I think just from observing that the elementary school office may not be as together as middle and high school. I do like that there is a dress code so, that kids may focus more on school work than fashion.

I have been a this school for about 3 years now and to me it seems like the people at this school are really professional when it comes to the work and care deeply about everyone.Lotus also has a robotics club which I am proudly part of and we have been very successful this year. I recommend you send your child here because the learning program teaches the student a lot and offers tons of extra opportunities to learn about a wide range of activities.I hope Lotus gets better publicity from this lengthy comment.THANK YOU LOTUS SCHOOL FOR EXCELLENCE!

To be honest, I have been in this school for 5 years and IT IS THE BEST. There has been a big change throughout my 5 years of experience. I would recommend this school to everyone. Every single teacher knows every single student, so it gives off a safe vibe. The teachers are really caring and friendly. They also care about us when they require a uniform, because it would be really difficult to wear something different every day and people might have gotten bullied. They also use all the money for good purposes. For example, the athletic team improved a lot, and also we have a huge soccer field now thanks to them. I am really happy that I am at this school. The classes are challenging but I believe that it will help us succeed with our lives.Also, to be in the athletic team, you need to have good grades which also helps us improve.

Well im the only one in this school has gone here for almost 9 years and one thing is this school is horrible. There food is under cooked and can probably kill you im not lying because had to go to hospital because the food here is bad but apart from that its okay i guess some teachers like mis. Clark , mis nelson, mis. martin, and Mr. Russel is probably the best teacher in this school he help out students AND ACTUALLY TRIES TO TEACH. also the bully here are horribly mean they made me suicidal and depressed and guess what the deans did NOTHING. plus at one point there was cult meeting in the bathroom dont know it was but they had backpacks and some sort of KKK rope. but this school inset that bad it has its moments.

We love this school! Great teachers, wonderfull staff, awesome facilities. If your child is gifted or an accelerated learner, this is the school you want your child to attend! I love that the student body is so diverse, and what is great is everyone is committed to their child attending - it isn't in a neighborhood school, It is a ZIP free school of choice. There is so many great after school competitive and non-competitive clubs your kids can attend! My son is currently at Robotics club and they did fantastic job at regional competition by placing 2nd place out of 48 teams. The parents all put in a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer work, so the school is very supported by its parents, and both sides (parents, staff) feel very appreciated. I love all the feedback I receive from my son teachers, and my favorite part is that everyone (the staff, other students, etc.) seems to know each other so well. Children are very challenged, and my son is personally challenged at his level - the teachers and staff have the freedom to challenge the children individually based on their own skill levels & talents. Love love love Lotus!!

When I first came to this school I hated it. I didn't like it all. The appearance was terrible, the lunch was atrocious, and teachers were not as understanding about what we say, or even open to conversations. But the school has improved so much that I think this school actually deserves to be #1 in Colorado and remain that way. After all, the school only opened 10 years ago. Other schools like Overland or Hinkley high school have been around since the 80's or 90's, so they have had a lot of time to develop. The school is still developing and I think that's just what everybody doesn't understand. They forget that this school didn't open at the same time as all of the other top high schools, so they're not like other high schools, plus they haven't raised enough money yet and they don't have as much experience about opening a school like those top high schools. But for this school to be #1 in Colorado after 10 years, imagine how amazing this school will be once it has much more experience after 15 to 20 years. But there are some minor problems and I'll admit it. They're not bad enough to make you hate the school but, the lockers are really small and the school itself is too small for it be a K-12 school. The reason is probably because the school was a church more than 10 years ago. I also know that people don't like it that we have a uniform policy and having our shirt tucked in, but it's to make us look formal. Tucking it in might be debatable, but at the same time people can't bully you about what you're wearing because you're wearing the same thing as them. Also, the appearance of the school is not as attracting as other high schools, but they're still developing. I've been at this school for 5 years, so you can trust me that I'm not just making up lies, but that I am talking about the real truth of this school. What makes this school # 1, I'll explain it to you. 1. The education here is amazing and pushes students to strive to higher expectations and goals, especially when they go to college. 2. The lunch is really good. ( It's just like a regular lunch that you would have at other schools, or even at your home). 3. The students here are unique in a good way and are very nice. (People show there personalities and they're proud of it. They don't act so Orthodox). 4. There is no bullying (People in the reviews that say there is bullying, THEY'RE WRONG! I don't know what they're talking about, they're probably just very soft. Sure, people will insult each other, but as friends. They don't really mean it). 5. There are no fights (That's why they ask you if your student has been suspended or not before enrolling into the school). 6. They bring many career opportunities ( JROTC, Cyberpatriot, CMLP). 7.The school has a variety of races. ( They don't just focus on one or two races. It goes as far as White, Black, Hispanic, Japanese, French,South American, Ethiopian, Somalian, Turkish, and many more). I am proud to be a part of Lotus. After all, "I AM LOTUS" is what we're trying to spread. The students are the ones that make this school. If we try to make this school better than it is, everyone will like it. But if we keep saying that it sucks, then nothing will change because we're not trying to change it in anyway. After what I said, if you still don't like this school, there's nothing that I can do about that. But, what I'm trying to do is let you know the real truth about this school and how things are going around here. This is what makes this school #1. Believe it. And if you don't like this review, then deal with it cause it's not going anywhere.

Teachers have given students good behavior points to write good reviews about the school and no major improvements are ever made to the school. This year all they did was polish the floor. This school is great i have 3 children that go here they may complain of the school food or whatever but they take a sack lunch now. Cause kids just love fast food .. its a smaller school so i love that they get attention. The principal is very patient and always at the school, the front dest receptionist is sooo sweet and is very helpful. So far i love the teachers my children have been there for 4 years. I have met other kids from other schools and they are not as knowledgeable as the students from here. Sometimes these kids from lotus are too smart . Their basketball coach Jax is a great coach and awesome leader i would strongly recommend that your child enroll in basketball, the team is small but they have great chemistry on the court and are fun to watch. Every school has problems of their own but i have never worried about my childrens saftey or wellbeing at school. Lotus will work with you on payment plans and anything else to help your child suceed. I think the elementary side needs work THE receptionist is not friendly at all i have referred a couple of friends with their children to attend the elementary but they were turned off by the receptionist and said forget it, she is very rude unless you are hispanic, just my observations with other parents, myself and friends i have referred... BUT the middle school and high school are AWESOME!!!! And i would strogly recomend Lotus school for Excellence middle school and high school any day. Very diverse and down to earth school i love it and have no regrets except for the elementary side.

Elementary Administration is horrible. There was a change in my court order concerning custody of my children, and getting them to comply with the new order has been a nightmare. I am taking my children elsewhere, or will try to, but so far the school secretary (who lists herself as an Office Manager, what a joke) has only sent over partial, incomplete and inaccurate records, making the transfer difficult. Elementary Administration does not care about court orders, they seem to think they are the courts, and will make what ever decisions they want, regardless of legal documents. I have been undermined, degraded, and insulted...and I am the ONLY person with ANY decision making authority...yet they continue to go behind my back and not only discuss with, but allow someone who has no charge over my children, to make decisions for them.

Lotus is a good school, and i know some of the staff that work there. Staff really cares about their students and their job. I play soccer with some staff there and the school always seems to be clean and organized. Defintley one of the better schools in the area.

Personally, I don't recommend this school to anyone. Underfunded, not a rigorous education system set in place, and multiple issues on hiring teachers not acceptable to be around students. My experience here has been sub par, to say the least. Most teachers here are great at what they do, and connect with students well. BUT. The main problem is the education. If you send your children to school to learn, and you bring them here, what's the point? They won't excel as they would at a better equipped school. If you want your child to go far in life, Lotus is not the best choice.But I mean, this is just an opinion (sprinkled with facts). Please take into consideration what I have said, because many of these observations come from having attended Lotus School for almost 8 years.

I love the honor courses they offer at the school and their robotics program, my doughter learn a lot from the progrm. She was shy before, but after start going to the robotics program now she is more confident to speak in front of the crowd to present their project. Go Go Go lotus.

I felt I had to enter my own review after reading some of the review here. I have a son currently at Lotus Elementary. I can tell you for a fact that Lotus is a fantastic experience for my son, and provides a great foundation for his future and provide the good habits and academic background necessary to achieve his greatest potential in school and in life.. I have been the part of Lotus community for 9 years and through multiple principals and team changes, and have neither seen any problem, like bullying, discrimination, criminal staff member or any other major problem like nor ever experienced a time when the staff was unresponsive to serious issues. No school is perfect, but the times when I have seen issues come up they have been handled promptly and professionally. Lotus has removed traditional academic barriers and allows students to excel by appropriate placement and academic focus.More importantly, the teachers make sure they are available to students to help them with anything they need to succeed. I am amazed over and over at the commitment, enthusiasm, and support the teachers, principals and parents show for the students and school. Everyone works together and is committed to getting every student in a college of their choice. If you are looking for a special school for your children - look at Lotus - but plan on being involved. I wish the school continued success.

I, as a student, who has been going to this school for 6 years now, greatly recommend for your children not to go to this school. Their food is cooked horribly, their teachers are constantly getting arrested and fired, and is not fair at all. The principal is incompetent and half the teachers, which are mostly Turkish, don't have a degree from America and don't speak proper English. On top of this, it is a gulen cult school, and not saying all Turkish people are incompetent, but the ones who teach here have most likely only got in due to their Turkish bloodline. If I could sum up the school in one word, it would be incompetent. Simply, incompetent. Wish I could've given zero stars, this school is absolutely horrendous, please don't go here, if you plan on having a successful future.

This school has tried unsuccessfully to expand and has been denied by St. Vrains School District as well as the State Department of Education. This is a Turkish Gulen Cult that operates this school (shamelessly in a converted church) The last principal Umit (Matt) Yapanel even hired an attorney to represent him at the state, they try to intimidate with legal wrangling but it didn't work in Colorado. Their academic record is a joke, high turnover of teachers and students. Oh and Matt Yapanel moved to California to help operate the other Gulen inspired schools Magnolia Science Academy and they are falling apart as well. They applied for 8 expansions in 5 California districts all were flatly denied. No one wants a bunch of gulen graduates near their children or tax money. They will be closed just like their schools in Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan,Egypt, Russia, Taiwan and more. Gulenists that monitor this board, you need to get your exit visas and leave for Canada or Australia. Turkey doesn't want you back your power has all been dismantled by the AKP and your businesses are confiscated. Leave Now.

This school is definitely not the best in aurora. It lacks many things, like understanding teachers and lie to their students. a teacher at lotus was hired and turned out to be a criminal and lotus didn't even bother to check her background. they have caused the students harm and because of that i would prob give this school not even one star out of 5. Do not get me wrong, not all of the teachers are bad. Some of them are understanding and supportive but lotus's selection of teachers is really bad and I would never send my child to this school after what happened this year. Also a year back two Muslim students were being targeted because they were wearing the hijab and a substitute teacher had asked them to lift their skirts and made a threatening move to elbow one of the girls face. the teacher was not handled properly. this is not acceptable and lotus needs to learn that. Think twice before you enroll your child into this school.

The principal and staff truly care for us at this school. They make great efforts to ensure we get the best education possible. Students that have special needs are supported fully with activities to stimulate their learning. We have lots of friends and bullies will not be a problem here. The 'special' activities are wonderful like visiting Veterans home , animal shelter, Horseback riding, Food drive, bullying week, penny war , free dress days, field days. We have, math, reading, language arts, Science,music, art, gym and technology. The teachers for each have been impressive.Lotus is the best school in APS!

This is the best school in Colorado. Almost all of the teachers are amazing, qualified and will go out of their way to help out a student. There are class difficulties for all students; Advanced Placement, Honors and normal classes. If a student wants to have a high level of success, Lotus provides the right tools for them to do so.! The tools are there and if the student uses them then Lotus is a great school.For the most part, it consists of regular people of all races that interact with each other. Our teachers and principals and deans and everyone are awesome!! Lotus is the best school.

My brother in law goes to the middle there and he loves it, he is involved in sports, his coaches are very friendly. His teachers are nice and friendly, and they help with his assignments.

I have been at this school for almost 6 years of my life. I highly recommend you keep your money and go to another school. I'm not learning and this school provides very little education. This "school" is really poor, and I've donated close to $200 (pretty rough estimate) from fundraisers, "free" dress days, and the very pricey uniforms. I wonder where the money went. Lotus doesn't use money efficiently, they make merchandise no one buys. Why don't they use they money for something such as new playgrounds for the elementary students? Why don't they provide more supplies? I am not happy with my education at this so called school. It's a church and a Gulen Cult school. The food is gross and it's smells really bad; not just the food, the school in general. I'm in 7th grade and 3 of my 4 teachers left. Lotus also hires unfit teachers and they don't do background checks.Two teachers sold/did drugs, and one of which was a fugitive that has been in prison 2 times before. Some teachers just don't care about the class. There is banners around the school that say "Most Challenging" for three years. In fact, they are ranked #147 and its going lower and lower each year. And, by tolerate bullying, they do nothing about it. Our school is small and crowded. Something that makes me uncomfortable in classes is the thermostats. It's too hot on cold days and too cold on hot days. Is it really that hard? Plus, the school is breaking many laws, by putting cameras around.Lotus is required to send consent forms for the cameras. They didn't, and they also have audio which is not allowed. They make us wait outside when it's 35 degrees.The traffic is really bad now that they made mobiles. They also excluded a gay couple from a play. They don't really make changes. They don't even reply honestly to the reviews. Isn't copy and paste just wonderful? I'm hopefully leaving next year to a better school. It's a really ugly school, it's small and crowded. Stay away from this school, please. This school just wants your money, please don't bring your kids here if you want them to succeed. I wish I could give zero stars.

I don't really care what others say but it's a coo school.I don't believe there is an incompetence in education.Haters gonna hate.Its most challenging high school. I have to say that front desk Ms. Nejiba is a great person. Always smiles.Teachers are doing great job,athletic coach is cool,counselor is amazing person.My cousins are going there and they are so happy.

This is a great school! At first I hated it because of the teachers. But throughout the years they have gotten better teachers! The school has gotten better itself. The one thing this school needs to work on is lunch. We should have better lunch!

I'm a middle schooler at Lotus. I love it so far because all the teachers are so nice and helpful. I made a lot of growth in every subject.However,they could improve on the food they serve during lunch by offering many different types.The classes are challenging. We have plenty of homework, sometimes it is too much. My mom says its good for my future. ;(

5 people asked me if I wanted marijuana, And they were in the 7th grade, this school is horrible, ive gotten food poisoning from the school lunch, the teachers are horrible and hate all the students, and the bullying is extremely horrible, you can't even go to the bathroom without hearing someone talk bad about another student

I, as a student who is only a first year here is absolutely disgusting. They just finished renovating the bathrooms over the summer and in 2 months flat, the bathroom cubicles are clogged and there is a unusual substance in the sink. I was shocked at how vulgar the students were, especially the females. I was told that Osama Bin Laden, is my father. This is not a Gulen Cult school but as a muslim, I see shame upon this school. Most teachers can't speak english correctly. A teacher asked me what the Jim Crow laws were. I'm here to learn, not to teach. A student asked how to spell their own last name. This school is horrendous and irregular. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Well..to be honest,I used to like this school. But that has changed. Most teachers are irresponsible and I STRONGLY dislike most of them. I also had a friend from another school come and go because of the quality of this place. That probably explains why three of our 7th grade teachers left. I really want to leave next year. This school is probably the worst school I been to.Wait...correction,it's the only school I've been to since first grade....Mhm, to think,all of those years wasted(money AND education).Please,don't bring your child to this school because ..I wouldn't.-_- Are teachers rewarding students for all the positive reviews? Make sure you throw in some money HATE IT!HATE IT!HATE IT!

I think that this school is bad and last week a random guy was trying to hop the fence during recces. Also in the campus a guy got in a girls car and sat on her brother.
