BEWARE: I wish I would have looked into this school a bit more before I dove right in. After researching, I found out this is a common occurrence. The financial aid department is horrible. I was deceived and am now in a considerable amount of debt (for 2 classes...). Based off of what the admissions advisor told me, I had been under the assumption that I would receive financial aid, but I had to take some extra steps before. I got in contact with the FA department and they had me running in circles, filling out paperwork, getting signatures, and taking all these extra steps over my living situation??? Because I have lived with my grandparents since I was two? Each step they required me to do, they would end up not accepting and then have me try something else. I tried explaining to them multiple times that I had proof (my grandparents claiming me in their taxes for years & several other official documents), but that wasn’t good enough. After a month of stressing over how I am going to pay the fees, and not being able to register for more classes, I tried emailing them one last time. They responded with links on paying in full or making payments... & if you want to extend the payment time to 6 - 12 months, there are extra fees for that!!! Who has the money to pay 4K for 2 classes (that are at a pace of 5 weeks) when you’re a college student already struggling to make ends meet?! I’m honestly so disappointed in myself for not looking into this “Christian” school more. I have been nothing but patient and kind with them, and I get deceived/ left in debt... If you rely on financial aid to help with tuition, I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU COME TO THIS SCHOOL. So much for having Christian morals...

I am finishing my degree here at CCU and love the staff from admins to the instructors. Although each class may have not been as easy as the last, every teacher has been there for questions and there for anything I have needed. I am seriously considering my degree past my masters because I love this school and the faculty. Knowing that most of them don’t get paid nearly what they are worth and even do it for free is even another thing to consider.

I took one class here and it might be the biggest mistake I have made when it comes to any higher education. I'm no going to draw this out and give a long story because the problem is very straight forward. When I started taking my class here I did so because the transfer counselor that I worked with told me I would be able to qualify for their accelerated nursing program. When I was already taking my first class and enrolled, my academic advisor told me that I wouldn't be able to begin the program within the allotted time. Fine. In short, the person who got me enrolled and starting classes made no effort to see if I would ACTUALLY be able to start the program within the allotted time. That was the first problem I encountered... the next problem was, after I had payed for the class and the semester had ended, I started to get calls and emails from CCU saying that I owed them for the previous semester. After this I contacted the school and asked them to clarify this.. since then I haven't even heard back from them. I have been getting phone calls from an automated line connected to CCU that is asking me to pay, when I have a paper trail that shows the funds were covered by financial aid. I still haven't heard back from them and do not know the status of this problem.

The RN to BSN online program is a very good program. It is a very challenging program and you will learn a lot about spiritual care of patients and how to write professional APA papers. I had two prerequisites to complete before starting the nursing program. Both classes were Bible based classes and were very interesting. The administrative staff is very helpful and the professors are nice and helpful. I spent about 20 to 25 hours a week studying. There is a lot of reading and 3 to 5 assignments due each week. You will find this degree program very challenging and you will grow as a nurse and in your Christian walk.

Just got started with my enrollment process with Shelley and she has been very helpful from military benefits questions to how my degree will help with my job. If you're trying to go through the adult online program I would highly recommend talking with Shelly.

I never attended Colorado Christian University - I graduated from BYU. That being said (please, no boo and hiss - they're both great schools!), I love getting their e-mails and petitions to fight for Christian values as they seem to be quickly fading - and with them the bedrock of our society. I wonder if we'll soon be like Athens, Greece in ancient times worshiping an altar to the unknown god. We already are! - but not me, never me, and never BYU or CCU. Keep training good people for high places in govt.! Hooray!

CCU was a really good school when I first began to attend in 2015. By the time I graduated in 2018, it was unprofessional and politically dominated. Students who didn't fit in with the norm or gave opposing viewpoints were systematically targeted by administration. Money and pride dominated over the Gospel.

I have yet to have a good experience with their financial aid department. They have terrible financial aid, are incredibly expensive, and not a great university. I have been pulling my hair out every semester, trying to work with and figure out financial aid and eventually end up paying $1,000-$3,000 out of pocket on top of my student loans. Would not recommend this University overall.

I attended CCU my freshman year of college and played basketball. I had grown up in Colorado and was so excited to be able to move back. I agree with the other comments that say that CCU is unprofessional. They have a step program (in college...) where you basically get demerits for behavior. They gave me a demerit or “step” for being 19 and driving my friends back to campus after they had been drinking and weren’t able to drive (who were all 21+). The reason I got in trouble is because I “didn’t inform them that those people had been drinking”. Which makes no sense considering they were of legal drinking age. The athletic department is just as bad as the administration. They got rid of one of the most successful and intelligent basketball coaches they had there so that the AD at the time could coach... Do not recommend spending the time and money on this university. I have had an excellent experience at the college I just graduated from.

Colorado Christian University seems like a very nice place. I applied and was accepted to the college in 2017. Everything was going well until I was told that the program I was going for had no online or night time options. This would not have bothered me, except I work and I help support a family. My work schedule can't really be moved and I'm required to maintain a certain amount of flexibility for it. They require all undergraduate students to attend chapel and build a certain number of credits for graduation. I would be glad to do this, except that chapel falls on days that I need to work. Since the school is in Lakewood and I work in Longmont, this presented a difficulty. I spoke with someone and said I might need to forgo attending for now until I get some things squared away first. The person I spoke with said that they would look into potential options for me, which I was very grateful for. As of the time of this review, that was almost three weeks ago and I never heard back. Before this, I had always received answers in a few days. I'm very disappointed. I had high hopes for this school. I'm sure it's a very nice place, but if you are a working adult, decide carefully where you want to go. Everyone I spoke to was very nice, but I feel like administration is somewhat disorganized. Still I would give them a chance. One thing that did get under my skin was that I got advertisements from them constantly, though I know there is an option to opt out. I have decided to look at options for other schools that better fit my needs for now. Perhaps someday in the future I will give CCU another try, especially if the program I was interested in had online and evening options introduced to it. Edit: I forgot to mention that the degree that I wanted to go for was Worship Arts, which is only in the undergraduate program. If this had been offered under the College of Adult and Graduate Studies, I would have gladly considered it. At the time of this edit, I still have not heard back from any college officials. I have noted that this seems to be a consistent pattern at this college, which is rather disappointing. I do not feel valued and have decided to take my business elsewhere. Thank you for your time.

When I first graduated from this establishment, five years ago, I only looked at the positive. I would say that after these five years, I cannot say that I would recommend this school for anyone who has disabilities. While the upside is that the professors care and will do anything to get you to succeed the attitude of the rest of the staff was not as heartening. I had to pay thousands of dollars for the disabilities services I did receive, while at other schools those same services are provided free of charge. Luckily I had gone to a community college before coming to CCU, which allowed me to learn how to access services in the community that would help someone, so that I knew where to turn for help when CCU was unable to provide assistance. In addition, there was truly no understanding of disabilities, I never had someone who would stand up for me or help show me the ropes. I was kicked out of the dorms more than once because they wanted to segregate those with disabilities off campus. I was accepted into the honors society, but never received emails so that they could chose not to award me at the end of the time. I wish with all my heart I could go back to my college years and never have even thought of coming to CCU, and chosen a state school, so that I would not have been discriminated against or segregated.

I was interested in checking out colleges, and somewhere along the lines of filling out information for another college, this university receiving my information. They have been calling me 3 times a day, for 2 - 3 weeks. I blocked their number and still receive missed calls from this university. Do they not know when someone is interested or not? Please remove me from your system!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not sign up for information from this college. I have unsubscribed from them several times to no avail. I've tried marking as junk, spam and nothing works. You'll be sorry if you sign up for information. This is beyond customer service...this is stalking.

I loved my experience as a student at CCU. I grew a lot spiritually thanks to great friendships and meaningful social activities. Inside of the classroom, I could tell my professors had a personal interest in me, and that they were there because they wanted to be. My knowledge of the Bible grew extensively, and I always felt welcome to question things. I also had the opportunity to take some incredible trips to Israel, India and Turkey.

Katie Fiola Jones

I absolutely loved going to school here. I have made so many life long friendships and even met my husband here! Not only that, but I am friends with the professors here and still keep in touch with them. They have a fantastic missions department where students can lead trips across the world to share the Gospel. The campus looks nothing like what it did when I first started going there but it’s exciting to go back and see all the changes and upgrades they have. Ccu has a fantastic location right between the city of Denver and the mountains. There is always something exciting to do! I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

All about the money!!! I find it very disheartening that a ‘Christian’ school charges such insanely high tuition rates for 5 week classes. It is unfortunate that 90% of CCU students are stuck with crippling debt after attending. Not to mention all of the additional required biblical classes...which, I might add, cost just as much as the classes that actually apply to your degree.

Sky high tuition and cold disorganized staff! This school is no different then any other secular online program all that matters is the all mighty dollar! I will be sure to tell every one I know in Colorado to steer clear of this school!

Sherrie Gal

AWFUL!!! I did graduate with honors from this school, but they are so unorganized it is pathetic! Hold off taking the religion courses until you spend at least a few semesters there! At least you can transfer credits if you decided to go to a more organized university. I am a veteran and using my veteran benefits, however they are still trying to certify me from SIX MONTHS AGO! unacceptable! I had to petition the dean on four occasions due to professor incompetency, all four times the Dean agreed with my logic and the courses were to be changed.....they WERE NOT! hilarious! With a graduation rate of under 30% I would look elsewhere if I had to do it again.

I am finishing my Degree up at CCU in the Adult studies program. One of the other reviewers pointed out that the instructors have been great, which they are. But the business admin side has been horrible these last couple of years making it difficult. I looked into transferring but found out that many of the courses would not transfer so I have decided to stick it out. If you are an adult learner do look at other schools that are truly geared to the Adult Learner, unless you are looking for a Biblical degree that can get you ready for seminary.

I'm a busy mom, worked full time until recently and have been working towards my Bach. Psychology with a minor in Spiritual Leadership. I've enjoyed every moment of my degree. The counselors have been phenomenal and the student financial aid department is both nice and helpful every time I've had to contact them. This isn't a slacker school. The courses are demanding and the knowledge you obtain is real. I love the flexibility online classes offers as I have two young boys at home and a full time job to keep up with. My experience here has deepen my faith and my confidence. I'm excited to say I'm CCU alumni class of 2017.

Graduated from the MACI program in the early 2000s. Great staff who cared, educated, and taught a wide range of learners (professionals to teachers). As an Alumni, I appreciate the continuing commitment by the University to grow a Christian community. Program taught me skills and content I need for my roll as a school executive in a foreign country.

This school is by far one of the best colleges in academics, integrating the Christian faith, and community! Yes, monetarily it was a sacrifice to send our kids here, but the education and experience is priceless. I felt so confident and grateful when leaving my young adults to be educated and taken care of at Colorado Christian University and it hasn’t disappointed!

I loved my time here. The professors and staff really care about each and every student. The invest a lot back into the community. I have fond memories of dinners at professor's houses.

PROS: The professors and instructors at the adult studies program of Colorado Christian University are above par. 90% of them are outstanding, which is better then I would have ever expected. CONS: As a business, CCU is unprofessional, unorganized, uncaring, and inhibit the adult student for success. If you are a veteran, please take my advice and do not waste your earned benefits here. I wanted to pursue a biblical based education here. Instead I was treated with less dignity then I could have ever imagined. This is not a rant based off my own experience. Other veterans that attended CCU with me experienced the same disrespect. They will take your benefit money for tuition and toss you to the dogs. BAH stipend? Don't plan on receiving it here. I spent hours upon hours trying to sort out the messes caused by the Student Service Central and in a nut shell, my family and I greatly suffered financially. THEY DO NOT CARE YOUR A VETERAN. THEY ADVERTISE LIKE THEY DO, BUT BE CAUTIOUS. I even met with the Dean of the adult program, he acted like he was going to look into the situation and figure out why I wasn't receiving my entitled benefits. Three days later I received a generic email basically telling me sorry I am out of luck. My GPA suffered as I had to dedicate so much of my time to figuring out my benefits that were being abused by CCU. Because they do not accomodate veterans, you can expect to receive $0.00- $260.00 BAH a month if you are taking 13 semester credit hours. Trust me, they won't tell you this up front. They will make it seem like every veteran that attends CCU is doing well. I care about my fellow brothers and sisters who have fought and sacrificed. You earned your college benefits, do not be deceived by this school. They will scam you and leave you stranded penniless. Please do not take this lightly, I wish all of my brothers and sisters the best and I want to see all of you succeed in your life after the military. Do not go here.

I love the community at CCU, and I've never felt so welcome and so encouraged by people in any other place. The professors are phenomenal and are so willing to help their students, and there's always faculty and staff willing to help you with the other things you will need. It's in a great location, too, and there's always fun events both on and off campus.

Paris Hornbaker

I thought I was going to find a amazing loving community but I didn't. I was destroyed and watched so many others be tormented by students because of the way they sinned. It really did so much damage to me so I transferred to Dallas Baptist University and it was the best decision I ever made. Please remember that not everywhere is a place that Gods hands are in. You will and can find better communities with more supportive loving students.

Some great professors, but the administration is diabolical. Purging tenure and taking on adjuncts to rake in the profit. I took a philosophy class and they assigned it to an adjunct who teaches a full course load at Red Rocks CC. The worst class I have ever taken, and I am still paying for it. They charge 10x what a community college charges, yet employ the same professors, and pay them scraps. Also, they confuse faithful Christianity with political fundamentalism to a startling degree, trading academic integrity for profit margins and narrow-minded, insulated, political idealism. Pandering sure is an effective fund raising tool. I die a little inside every month when I have to pay my student loans, knowing where that money went and what I got for it. Find another school. Any other school.

As a CCU parent I feel the place is ideal for a committed Christian. They nurture your faith and provide great leadership opportunities to disciple younger students. They are in the middle of an expansive and exciting rebuilding project that encompasses the entire campus. Take a look at their building plans if you are thinking of going there. Completed so far are a beautiful academic building and a first class residence hall. Next is a wonderful student center and cafeteria, and a chapel that is also first class. From my experience conflicts between students, such as the normal dorm-life stuff, are worked out very maturely. Finally, the social life is extensive and the kids have a lot of fun. They have a strong work-life program that gets good student type jobs to help with extra money.
