Learned so much at independence class of 2003. Had awesome teachers, and the staff was awesome! Not to mention have so many great memories there with friends ive met and being in ROTC. And now im happy to say im sending my son to Independence this yr of 2017 his freshman yr. He will be playing freshman football. He's already so excited to be a patriot.

If your student is up for great sport accomplishments and academics only, this is the place. However, if you dislike bad characterized people and mean ones and mean black girls, this is not your place. This and many reasons is why I am completely driven away from this school. I transferred from this one to another for my benefits. I only appreciate this one for its academics and sport team accomplishments. This is my warning and advice for the student coming to here: prepare to experience a hurricane-like freshman year because all the high school's eyes are on you that year. Decide if you want to stay or transfer the summer after freshman year. This school is only recommended for students who are mean or want to gossip about someone in the same school. :(

Independence high school made it possible for me to graduate on time. I was encouraged by teachers and staff to follow and meet my goals through my education. Without independence I wouldn't have a high school diploma. If you're serious about graduating you need to go to this school. It will change your life.

My Son is in Honors and AP program as a Sophomore. His Teachers this and last year are very professional and awesome people to interact with. There was a variety of concerns with different natures during my Son's freshman year but the Staff and Teachers always did the best thing possible in each scenario. I also appreciate the commitment the activities Sponsors have. Maybe there are better schools but also keep in mind that if your child is willing to stay competitive, the honors program will really keep him/her busy (Have your child persuade that environment). In addition, add an activity/sport to the child's schedule and you will see how important is to support your kid due to the workload while watching the Student's School/Life/Balance. I am very happy with the way the school communicates. My Son's counselor is very approachable as well. I wish the schools were given more budget. They do great with what they have but if more money would come their way, more improvements and support to education and activities could materialize. Discipline is also a big focus at Independence. Maybe it is hard to handle some of the trouble students but the school always do their best to keep those cases in check. I think that instead of some people thinking this is not a good school, I would point the same sentence but into the opposite direction. "What can I do to help my Student to become more successful? Shall I donate more money to the activities of interest? How about volunteering more as a Parent to support activities? Am I willing to follow up more often in what my child is doing at school?"

I got really bad experience about this school. I had seen the old principal, he was good . But not the new once , and I cant believed how come they can vote fot this principal. I came ti enrolled for my nice , he asked too many crazy questions, it was big deferent to the old one . This wasn’t nice bad service, we try to answered his questions and explained... I didn’t know why he got mad too early, he ahowed His anger front of me and my child, he scared us, and he rushed us out of his office. I can’t forget what he said too mad , his face turned really red liked he want to kill someone.. he can’t be a principal of a big high school like this . He is totally deferent all principals I eve seen before

I am a alumni, I graduated here in 2007. Best school I been to. Felt like home. I made lots of friends had the best teacher's there. Always helpful with all my work and with othere behavior students. I however made a few enemies, I did make it through my years and graduated.
