The assistant superintendent of this school apparently is a closet pedo. What a sick bastard ! SURPRISE, Ariz. -- An assistant superintendent for the Dysart Unified School District defends calling a kindergartner's actions "sexual misconduct." Five-year-old Eric Lopez pulled his pants down on the playground at Ashton Ranch Elementary School last Spring and received a punishment of detention for what the school has deemed sexual misconduct. Eric now has a note that will remain in his permanent file for the duration he attends Dysart schools. His mother was not notified of the incident or the note her son signed in the assistant principal's office until after the fact. District policy states that a parent does not have to be present for a disciplinary meeting unless the student requests his or her parent. "He did not know that he could ask for me," said Eric's mother, Erica Martinez "He's 5." Martinez has been fighting for two months to have the sexual misconduct label removed from her son's file, saying Eric's actions were not sexual in any way. So far, the district has denied her appeal. Assistant Superintendent Jim Dean says the district follows strict guidelines and definitions set by both the state and federal agencies about what constitutes a sexual offense. "Our school district uses consistent language for disciplinary infractions in order to provide clarity and track discipline data accurately," Dean said in a written statement. A state of Arizona initiative called AZ SAFE helps provide clarification to districts to assist them with the collection of information. Under its definitions for sexual offenses, the state recommends that every district take into account the age and maturity of a student before placing their actions in the sexual offense category. Martinez does not believe the Dysart Unified School District took her son's age into account when they labeled his "depantsing." Dean says the district does not focus on labels when disciplining students. "Even though the discipline labels are consistently used and the discipline form is consistent from grades K-12 to ensure all legal mandates are met, the discussion the administrator has about a situation and consequences are age appropriate," Dean said. "The discussion with a kindergarten student is focused on the specific action, not on the label that is used for classifying the infraction." Dean says Martinez will now be allowed to provide a rebuttal to the report in Eric's permanent file so she can have her displeasure with the decision on record.

The school officials here must be run by Stepford Wives-style robots because they do not display human reason or mercy in any shape or form and only obey what their bureaucratic pieces of paper tell them. I have seen and have been told from others of the ways they run the school, more interested in ruining children's lives than educating them or giving them proper discipline fit for an actual child. A 6-year-old kid ran around with scissors and the robot overlords convicted him with "Attempted Assault with a Deadly Weapon." Two other children, five and seven, were sniffing crayons and passing them to each other when they were tagged with "Possession, Distribution and Abuse of Drug Paraphernalia" on their school records. During a kid's birthday with his friends they were singing "Happy Birthday" when they all were charged with several counts of Copyright Infringement. Supposedly almost a dozen children had marked on their school records Assault and Battery when lightly pushing other children down slides, kids on swings, and tossing sand at each other. I cannot verify this but I wouldn't be surprised. Most recently I've heard a 5-year-old child was charged with "Sexual Misconduct" after he pulled his pants down, seemingly at the duress of other children. I had pulled my own kids out a good while ago after being informed about all this madness (you know there's something wrong when your child tells you they were watching the animated movie Animal Farm one day and afterward the teacher ingrained them with the lesson that the pigs were the righteous heroes of the story). I see now the madness hasn't ended. What a joke of a school. I hope these school administrators and officials are caught doing something terrible, like manslaughter while driving drunk, running drug rings, accused of rape or first-degree murder, maybe even touching a child (that wouldn't surprise me) and get thrown into the slammer for a long time to come. Maybe then they will learn their lesson and the people who replace them will bring some sanity back to the school and our crumbling education system and its insane "Zero Tolerance" system.

One time in 6th grade I was walking back from school and saw some 8th graders throwing giant rocks at 2nd graders.I decided to help them and when I tried too, I was beaten on the royal ranch sign (No one helped even though a bunch of people were there) I told the principal and I Got in trouble. Yes, I got in trouble.The 8th grader didn't. Also have fun getting friends.If You are not into sports,bullying others,Gossip You will NOT get friends.Everyone here has no feelings what so ever, no one cares here even if your crying they will ignore here.Don't go here. You.Will.Regret.It. Also one last thing, The.Food.Sucks. We Get BAGGED RAIN WATER?! Nothing says poor than "'filtered'' rain water. Also when I was in 7th grade , there was a 2nd grader that getting punished (for "hitting someone") and they were taunting the kid and sent him to the meanest teacher in the school (I will not give names) The poor kid was crying when he was walking home.

This school does a pajama drive to donate pajamas for the schools. But the schools does not know how to take care of there of the schools money. They should spend there money on something more productive. Instead of the school floors for the office in the front of the the school.

The Principal believes she is strict but she is just overzealous. She has turned my grandson from a very good student into a depressed young man, with bad attitude that has given up on this school. He was an honor student and high achiever until, as Bryan Maloney stated, the principal's knee jerk, blind justice ruined his belief in this being a school where the administration and teachers were strict, fair and just. Thanks for teaching him not to trust or expect fair treatment from persons in power. Being in education for 38 years, I cannot recall any administrator that handled such a situation in such a matter. Over reacts too much and too late. If an incident is of such 'danger', the parents should have been called in immediately and action pursued. Instead, it was overlooked when it took place, the next day his backpack and pockets were searched, nothing is found but he is taken to the principal's office and drilled, his friends were also questioned and end results was suspension with written 'incident' report in his record. I hope there was a full accurate description of the 'lethal weapon' entered into the record. What he had was a real stretch to be called a lethal weapon. Sharp pencils, pens, broken plastic rulers, and girl's metal fingernail files are a greater lethal weapon. Poorly handled situation. For such serious accusations, a parent or guardian should be present. Maybe she enjoys brow beating kids. He felt unfairly treated and I believe he is somewhat correct. During my 38 years in secondary education, I never recall such delayed, knee jerk, blind justice. Thank God, they do have some good teachers at the school but a ship can have a good crew and still sink with a poor, overbearing Captain at the helm.

One time this girl was in my math class. We didn't get a long as well but she still decide to say to me "when is trump going to be the wall " just because I am Mexican. So I told the principal and I didn't see her get in trouble at all just came back to class which really trigger me because I want to feel safe and no to be judge because I am Mexican and proud :)

Sexual misconduct? 5 year old! Please!! I would never ever send my child of any age there. Actually I would stand outside and hold a protest sign! What I would really do is hire a top notch lawyer and sue the pants off of everyone in charge there!

You should be ashamed and embarrassed at the recent conduct of your administrator towards Eric Lopez. Putting "sexual misconduct" on the "permanent record" of a 5-year old who was forced to pull his pants down on the playground would be laughable if not so potentially serious for the boy's future. All your smiling, shiny, young, white faces in the staff picture should be red with shame.

The teaching staff are great but the 2 people at the front desk help can be condescending and arrogant acting at times. There is a big difference when you go to Paradise Education Center and the Ashton Ranch front office. PEC has friendly, helpful and humble courteous staff that treats you with respect.

This school is like a mixed bag for me. Sometimes its good, such as the teachers who are (Or should I say were) in 6th Grade last year, the teachers in 7th grade are great people as well, but at other times this school district as a whole can be so over-sensitive and harsh. One time I was in 4th grade and was suspended twice over someone thinking I swore, when in all reality I didn't. The school has a guilty until proven innocent system, which is stupid in my opinion, but the teachers make up for it in some cases. AS well as that, I made a joke video criticizing people on YouTube, but that didn't stop the teachers from making it so that I had to take down my video because I criticized someone and called them a d-bag (I want to shorten it just in case any very young children are reading) as a joke, and my friend knows this. WE have made up now, but I am pretty sure this school has said in the past that an incident was happening outside of school so they couldn't fix it, even though the person who was getting bullied or jumped was getting bullied or jumped by a kid from the school. Overall, this school is average, but go to a different school if you want a system that's not guilty until proven innocent.
