Snake River Grill absolutely lives up to the hype. I was highly skeptical of the restaurant from the outside, but as they say... never judge a book by its cover. The appetizers blew us away with the flavor, presentation, and portion size. As expected, the main dishes were just as good. In addition, our server was incredibly personable and attentive. If I’m back in Jackson, I’ll definitely make time to visit the Snake River Grill again.
I had not been to the SRG in quite some time for various reasons. Happened to eat there a week ago. The food was what one expects from a fine dining restaurant in Jackson. The food was pretty good, but not "knock your socks off" good. Service was very good. Two pages of eating choices and perhaps 10 or more pages of drinking choices. Food prices were average for fine dining. The wine list did have the most expensive bottle of wine that I have seen to date at a restaurant. It was almost five digits. Take a look at the photo. No, we did not order it.
you have to start with one of the original appetizer dishes- a potato pancake topped with creme fraiche and cured salmon...also, their waitstaff are super wine knowledgeable so I would go with whatever wine is suggested.
Our Server projected a subtle, condescending, not-friendly attitude. Service was not 'bad'. The food was over-priced and small-proportioned. Curiosity satisfied. I would not choose to have another meal here.
Very good high end restaurant. Food is a little overpriced but the service is very good and the food is above average. I was very impressed with the morel pizza appetizer.
This place has a warm, cabin feel inside and a beautiful dining area. The service is incredible, and they run this place like a well-oiled machine! On top of it, the food is great. Not so many vegetarian options, but they're happy to accommodate dietary needs. The chocolate souffle for dessert is a must!
Wow! Great steak, trout, desert and soup. You must visit
I eat out quite a bit, so it's not that common that I have a "wow" meal, but I had one at the Snake River Grill. I had the lobster chowder which was delicious, while my wife had the winter greens salad. Also, delicious. We both had the New York strip. The New York is my favorite cut of steak, and this was the best I've had. Cooked to perfection. A chocolate souffle for dessert. The service was great. Just a really great evening. Dying to go back. I was really impressed with how reasonably priced it was for Jackson.
My low rating of this establishment has nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the service. I have never been so insulted than when eating at the Snake River Grill. The food was excellent, especially the dessert, but it became less palatable when certain members of the staff made it apparent my family and I were not welcome there. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food at the Snake River Grill was amazing... The Elk chops were the best I have had by a wide margin.
Meh. Underwhelmed everytime. For the money there are much better places to go. Makes uncultured tourists happy I guess.
Great dinner, as always.
This was my first visit to Snake River Grill, with my boyfriend, for my birthday dinner. The food was amazing. We didn't have a single dish we didn't devour or absolutely love, including the dessert. Our service wasn't quite as high class as I expected it to be, but wasn't in your face or poorly timed either, so overall, it was pretty good. The atmosphere is cozy and cabin-like with a nice ambience and a fantastic and large fireplace. It was a lovely experience. We'll definitely revisit someday soon and would recommend it to friends, family, and visitors. It is slightly pricey, so be prepared for that.
Always great. Like the pork shank
Edible.... Can't say much more
The food was amazing and can't wait to visit again! We were seated right away after getting there (we had reservations of course). The hostess took our coats and bags from shopping to the back so we didn't have to lug it with us to our table. The restaurant was pretty crowded and they have a good amount of tables in there. The reason we only gave 4 stars is our waitress was rushing and not very outgoing. She could have been having a bad night, but with a place like this you expect great service.
Delicious dinner. Great food, great cocktails, very responsive staff. Upscale log cabin decor.
Snake River Grill just might be the best restaurant in Jackson Hole. Start to finish the menu dazzles with local cuisine and will impress. A solid wine list and a few strong local beers compliment the menu. Service is good. For starts, you absolutely need to have the stuffed dates -- AMAZING. Also get the onion rings. In the small plates, get the duck fried rice - it is served with a layer baked together and provides a tasty crunch to the dish. truffle fries are ok but nothing special. For main dishes, the wild game hot bowl is good but not great. You are better off with the lamb lollipops, which are tender and marinated in a tangy / spicy finish. Finally, make sure you listen to the specials, and hope they serve bison! They do a great bison.
A special occasion place right in the middle of downtown Jackson. In the middle of the meal a very powerful looking man with wild hair came in -- either a movie producer or some sort of land baron was my guess. Really great range of cuisine, although the onion rings we started with were the best thing we had all night (and the best onion rings I've ever had, which is high praise). Extensive wine list, and a comfortable vibe.
Creative, sophisticated menu emphasizing local ingredients. Well prepared recipes combining standards with new seasonal dishes. Great wait staff. Wonderful wine list. Great desserts.
Loved it!
Wow! The service and the food here are amazing!
Snake River Grill absolutely lives up to the hype. I was highly skeptical of the restaurant from the outside, but as they say... never judge a book by its cover. Great fly fishing
Still the best food in Jackson
Eskimo bars
The green onion rings are a must. Plus all of the desserts.
I still dream about the eskimo bars!
Communication was terrible. They told us we reserved a table for five. When we arrived, they say they are full. So we ended up eating elsewhere.
Great food, only dwarfed by the excellent service.
Amazing restaurant
We enjoyed the food and the wine but found all aspects of the service to be lacking from front of the house to wait staff. From unfriendly at best to borderline rude. So sad since compliments to the chef are warranted and deserving but our overall experience was overshadowed by such poor service.
We had traveled from New Orleans to Jackson for my birthday. This was my birthday dinner. We were seated at a booth. It took 8-minutes to get our drink order. It took another 10-minutes to get an appetizer order placed. Appetizers were okay. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing special. Once we finished our appetizers, it took 20-minutes to get our dinner, again nothing special. We needed refills on our beverages, which never happened. After dinner we sat there waiting for a dessert menu. No refills, no dessert menu, no contact with Sam. I suggested we go somewhere else for a little birthday dessert. Supposedly, arrangements were made for dessert at the time of reservation. So, we waited. Finally, after another 20-minutes of waiting another person came by and cleared our plates and asked if there was anything else we wanted. We said yes and explained the surprise dessert situation, which ended up not being a surprise because of the lack of attention on the restaurant and server. We received our coffees, which was the best tasting item of the whole evening, and dessert. Sam asked if we needed anything else, we said no. He was prompt on getting us our check. That was the fastest service we had gotten during the entire meal. Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but the restaurant came highly recommended by two friends who live in Jackson. I think if we had dropped their names the service might have been better. It is disappointing to have a birthday event be ruined by the lack of attention to detail. Truly a memorable event for all the wrong reasons. Also, to clarify, this was two people eating dinner, not a party of eight, which Sam seemed to spend more time with. And, we were two women. Traditionally, we see ourselves as generous tippers, more than 20% on the full amount of the check, not pretax. It's a struggle to tip for us when situations arise like this. Usually, because it's two women we get seated at the crappy table by the bathroom, which we always say, no please move us to a table we choose, we are always the last to get waited on if there are other male/female couples or more than 4 people in a party. Servers usually say women don't tip, so why waste your time. I think Sam was one of those people. If the service is good then the tip should be good. If you consistently treat women as second class patrons, then you will consistently get crappy tips. This is the dilemma. We actually tipped Sam well above what he should have gotten because we did not want to be stereotyped in that way. I chose to use a review to vent my deep dissatisfaction with our experience. We went to other restaurants in the area that I highly recommend!!! Persephone's bakery, to die for breakfast! Local Co was amazing and the bartender/server was so much fun to talk with. He's a great skier too!! And Trio, another gastronome delight and unparalleled service!! As you can see, we will be recommending these other restaurants instead of yours.
Not qs good as I remembered. The pork shank had a different recipe. My flat iron steak, just so so.
Excellent all around
I had not been to the SRG in quite some time for various reasons. Happened to eat there a week ago. The food was what one expects from a fine dining restaurant in Jackson. The food was pretty good, but not "knock your socks off" good. Service was very good. Two pages of eating choices and perhaps 10 or more pages of drinking choices. Amazing appetizers, great service, good people watching restaurant.
A bunch of our local friends said this place was a must-eat. Headed over for some dessert after dinner at the Mangy Moose. Walked in and sat at the bar. Bartender comes over and scolds me and tells me stop using my cell phone (I was finishing up a text message). What?! Ok, whatever. Don't let it ruin the evening. Have some dessert and wine. Pay the bill. Tip well. On our way out, I walk over to the bartender and ask him what his name is (Chris) and let him know I was a little upset that he disrespected me by treating me like a child. He says, "How about you not disrespecting me be being on your fu@$ing phone!" Excuse me?! After dropped the 'F' bomb another time, he says, "What are you going to do? Write me up in the newspaper?" I let him know that his behavior was a complete letdown and totally ruined our nice evening. I've eaten in thousands of establishments...from the most expensive to the bottom of the barrel and I have NEVER been sworn at, nor treated like a child. I would never ever recommend going to the SRG, especially if they continue to hire disrespectful bartenders like Chris.
Yeah, so the elk steaks were to die for. And the salad and melon with prosciutto were excellent as well.
Great food and service, always consistent. You could try and be frugal with the menu, but why would you, it's too good for that. Just splurge and try everything!
Very nice place. Great food. Not cheap though
Had dinner here
I wanted to love this restaurant, but the service was not just lacking, it was nonexistent. My husband and I were dressed well and arrived on time for our reservation. We sat at a prominent table in the dining room and were basically ignored until someone 25 minutes into being seated took a drink order. It never got better. The food and wine were good, but unfortunately we will not return on our trip.
Food and service very good. I felt prices were reasonable considering food quality. Would definitely eat there again.
We were there in July, had a wonderful dinner, I recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a delicious dinner with great service
Awesome food
Went there after my destination wedding in my dress, after having booked reservations from months before. We were an expected party of four following a wedding on the mountain on an early Thursday evening. No surprises. We arrived on time. The manager, a very handsome man, appeared annoyed and unfriendly, and he made the four of us sit and wait outside for approximately 30 minutes after our reservations were scheduled months in advance. It was a warm day. Eventually, we were seated in the promised corner booth I had requested from months before. (I even made a stop at the restaurant 3 days before my wedding, right after landing in Jackson, to ensure they had all of our information and everything was in order. The restaurant and layout of the decor is actually quite beautiful and rustic.) Starting off, our waiter was rather rude about my request for a frozen drink...after I was warm from having sat outside, not to mention being a bride, on easily one of the most meaningful days of my life. Our waiter made no effort to try and ask the bartender about my request. Even my husband commented, and found this disturbing. We made the best of it, but it ended up being a less than friendly experience. It would not have costed the manager anything to invite us in, out of the heat to wait inside, even at the bar, and it would not have costed our waiter anything to act a little more friendly toward a visiting wedding party of four. We were a quiet and polite small group of people. I booked this restaurant on the basis of Giada De Laurentiis' recommendations regarding their menu and charm. The food we ordered was good. We still remember this encounter, though, from the day we were all there. We sure did not feel very welcome. Where I come from, it's a choice you make to be friendly and welcoming, or not.
Amazing food and outstanding service.
Service, ambiance and good are worth a trip to Jackson to visit this gem of locals and tourists alike.
Pizza appetizer was terrific, as was the Elk Osso Bucco.
One of if not the best restaurants in Jackson. Make a reservation.
The Eskimo Pie is to die for
The restaurant itself is great with an excellent ambiance. The food was quite pricey and a little underwhelming. The onion rings were really lacking in any seasoning or flavour.
Arrogant staff, poor service, completely overpriced food.
Well run with a creative menu, tasty local brews and attentive staff.
Great food!
The atmosphere was really good, service was very good as well, food was amazing, everything we tried was really good from started to the amazing new york steak. The prices were a bit too high.
Delightful, delicious, reasonably priced surprisingly
Excellent but expansive
Great food! Quite expensive though.
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants! Their onion rings are the best, especially after a great day fly fishing or skiing ;-)
Wonderful food and atmosphere but looses the intimacy during busy nights.
Excellent service. Prices were a bit high but it was worth it. All the servers were very kind and helpful!
Sometimes places are worth the hype...and this is the case with the Snake River Grill. Excellent and enjoyable food...welcoming and professional staff... and an ambiance that can't be beat!
Snake River Grill is the best place in town eat. For special occasions the staff is exceptional. We recently celebrated our 45th anniversary here and we fell in love with the staff and chef and hosts. They ALL went out of their way to make this a very happy experience for us. We live in Palm Beach and are used to eating very good food in fine restaurants. This restaurant equals them all. This place has #1 food with #1 service. We will eat here everytime we return.
This place has the best margherita pizza I have ever tasted. The rest of the meal was very good as well, and the atmosphere was great!
Great food know what their doing here
Are you hungry? This place probably can help you.
I wanted to love this restaurant, but the service was not just lacking, it was nonexistent. My husband and I were dressed well and arrived on time for our reservation. We sat at a prominent table in the dining room and were basically ignored until someone 25 minutes into being seated took a drink order. It never got better. Excellent food, exceptional service, axing wine selection
Always good. Great food.
Food, atmosphere and service was really good.
Great food, wonderful ambiance, excellent service
My favorite in Jackson!
What a great place, start out with pizza Tartar and go from there. You won’t be disappointed, it’s too bad that I live 1800 miles away or I would dine there at least once a week.
Good food, good service. But you pay for it.
Food and service very good. I felt prices were reasonable considering food quality. Would definitely eat there again.
Good for people watching. Food overpriced and pretentious. Still worth stopping by..
Eskimo Bar!
Good food and atmosphere
Upscale restaurants like this one aren't usually my scene, but some other folks travelling with me wanted to go, so I tagged along. I had the: 1) Wedge Salad -- a bit over-dressed, but otherwise good. 2) Bacon-wrapped Trout -- very good; bacon flavor definitely made it into the fish, but wasn't overwhelming 3) Blackberry pie -- yum.
Always a highlight of our annual trips to Jackson Hole and arguably one of our best meals of the year (it’s so good we usually try to go twice in a week). Don’t miss the smoked salmon potato pancakes! The atmosphere is as good as the food, and that’s saying a lot. And the service is excellent as well. Please bring back the butterscotch dessert!
Delicious! Unexpectedly fabulous menu and ambience in downtown Jackson Hole, Wyo
Food was fantastic, wine great, service top notch. If I could afford it, I'd be there more often, lol. The description of my elk steak included quite a few vegetables. Some, like beets were not on my plate. I also found it misleading, as I was expecting these to be a side, while this was garnish only! I had to order salad additionally. As far as vegetable sides, this place has very limited choice. En par with other restaurants in the area. Prices are ridiculous.
Pricy but totally worth it: excellent food, big wine menu and great service! It was crowded and therefore a bit loud, but this also means others seem to enjoy this restaurant as well! Please don‘t forget to send off our postcard! :)
Best food ever I was amazed they performed very well great service and fantastic atmosphere I loved their food. Worth every dime I'd eat there every day because there food was outstanding. And it's the best place for a date night when you're with your wife and or girlfriend
Excellent meal and service here. We had a private room for our engagement party and I left impressed. Really enjoyed the foie gras tart, bison steak and the cocktails were also well thought out and mixed.
Had an outstanding dining experience tonight. The atmosphere is so cozy and the food was perfect. We were waited on my David who provided awesome service to complete our experience. Highly recommend.
We’ve eaten at so many great places in Jackson Hole but I’ll have to go ahead and say that Snake River Grill was our favorite. The interior decor was nicely done and extremely cozy with the fireplace adding the perfect touch of snugglement. I had the short ribs which were one of the specials that night wherein it was conveyed the ribs were prepared for 48 hours and OMG it was definitely evident as these were some of the tastiest and tender ribs I’ve ever eaten ... epic is an understatement !!! My 8 year old son entirely gobbled up his perfectly cooked steak and said “daddy this place is a 5 stars!!!” My wife and I agree !
great food good chef
Awesome food, service and local beer!
Food was good...They where out of dark beer... waitress was not good...
Great spot for a wonderful meal in Jackson
Excellent service and food. Everything was very good. But the rib eye was other worldly.
Revisited after my GREAT memories of 20 years ago, was not let done. Fine atmosphere with a casual dress, meals prepared were full and nicely presented. Will revisit and would recommend
Great food and service! Loved the hot donuts!
The Korean pot was amazing !
Great atmosphere. Excellent food.
Andrew from Dunton’s rec’d it.
A Jackson institution. Must try the tartare pizza. The servers make sure they get your entree order before they bring it out - else you might just repeat as your main course and skip the entrees. This is also the only place in Jackson where you can get a bottle of wine at price points ranging from a brand new remote control toy truck ($50) to a used pickup truck ($9500).
It was good but now incredible
Expensive, but exquisite. World class food and service. Very popular... It's wise to call and make reservations well ahead of the evening you want. This is the kind of place you'll want to linger over courses, enjoying conversation.
Tasty! I am vegetarian, which seemed to offend the waitress. Strange. She said, twice, “oh, so you are eating light tonight”. I guess since I didn’t order the Tenderloin she thought her tip was going to suffer. Anyway, what I ate was delicious! The yams, roasted cauliflower & the mushroom dish. The Caesar salad was especially yummy! Hopefully the server was pleased with her tip.
Fabulous meal! Excellent food, informed server, imaginative cuisine, intelligent staff.
Horrible staff, mediocre food experience, overpriced
Cozy fine dining classic
Awesome food
Great place..
Nice place
One of Jackson Holes finest. The ambiance, staff and menu selections are all impressive. The chocolate soufflé is one of the best deserts I’ve ever had.
Always a great meal and experience.
Loud .. and a boring yet pricey dinner
Such amazing food and great service! Great experience
Good service and very nice food
Quality restaurant all around. A must try!
Very friendly staff. Good food. Slow to bring food.
Service could have been better.
Excellent food. Pricey. Got to try the pork shank...
In our opinion, it's overpriced for what they offer regarding meals and service.
Very good, different
wholly cow this place is the best
Excellent staff, wonderful food.
Spot-on restaurant. Great bar, excellent food. Met a lot of really nice couples there, and we had dinner with 2 of them the next night. No complaints, no issues, and Chris the bartender was on top of his game. Highly recommended.
Lovely anniversary dinner. Romantic + comfortable + fun. Really great server + welcome hosts, all the staff - the food was delicious of course - but the staff created a special ambiance. Thank you Snake River
White cloth elegance. Service was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Ambiance was classy yet comfortable. Menu was sophisticated. The food preparation and presentation was excellent.
Excellent food fast service. They took our reservation over the phone and our credit card (we wanted a different time and asked if an opening would appear to let us know) we reserved for 5:45 dinner and were called later that the 8pm opened up. We are the buffalo mozzarella (unusual presentation but very good) the Cesar salad also an unusual presentation but dressing was perfect. We took the Halibut and the special fish both of which were very good. The Eskimo bars were so memorable that 5 years later when we went back to Jackson Hole we came back to the restaurant and for that desert. The location is great too: great stores, nice people & free parking.
Fabulous food!
My husband and I enjoyed the wine list and all the food specials. Great place to make wonderful memories
Lived up to the hype. Unreal onion rings, great steak and lamb chops.
Perfect spot for a peaceful date. Service and food is great and the inside is spotless. Very nice experience overall, would certainly recommend the Snake River Grill if you're in Jackson!
Snotty and condescending staff. If that's your jam, this place is for you. If you have no time for pretentious behaviour...move along. To elaborate:. It was clear they didn't want us there at the restaurant. See Date Night scene at Claw ("You're welcome").
Lovely anniversary dinner. Romantic + comfortable + fun. Really great server + welcome hosts, all the staff - the food was delicious of course - but the staff created a special ambiance. Thank you Snake River
Every time we come to Jackson this is the only place my family says we have to eat at. Great food and service
Service: Indifferent, moody, and uncommunicative describes our server. The only one who actually cared was the manager. Food: Angus Steak was cooked well to dry. What a shame. Truffle fries were dried to the consistency of a shoe box. Steak tartar pizza was okay but crust was drier than previous visits. Salmon was executed sufficiently. Seem like they are very unorganized this season. In short, this place has turned from fine dining to the level of a pricey tourist trap. This place have gone downhill since reopening.
White cloth elegance. Service was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Ambiance was classy yet comfortable. Menu was sophisticated. The food preparation and presentation was excellent.
For 4 of us, our appetizer choices were potato pancakes (YES!), truffle fries (dry & forgettable), and a Caesar salad. The table bread was not worth the carbs, even with butter. Between us, 1 cocktail, 1 bottle of wine, and 2 beers. I enjoyed my Halibut, but not to the point of craving it again. Both men cleaned their Pork Shank plates. The 4th entree was the Korean Hot Bowl - she is a foodie & quickly reached for water, b/c she didn’t remember such heat the last time she ordered it. The men had dessert. We had a delightful evening: superb service from Jamie (I think). The ambience was comfy (even more so when the fire place is lit in December). When the room filled up, however, we had to shout (our table was in the middle). Moreover, the delivery of 2 Korean Hot Bowls to the nearby table irritated our throats ➡️ coughing. OK, between the noise level & the coughing, evening over.
Upscale restaurant with great food. Steak tartare pizza is amazing.
Food was bland. Friend got the burger and it was dry. Expensive for what your get
If you are into fancy wine and dine places this is for you.. But if you are like me and my husband and like to eat this is the review for you. My husband for his first course ordered the boar ribs. Being $15 and from Texas we thought we would get a plate full of ribs. Instead we got a stack of toothpick like ribs. I ordered the shrimp ravioli and only got four noodles. My husband also got the trout that he said was amazing. But not worth feeding 1.5 people for $100.
Excellent food fast service. They took our reservation over the phone and our credit card (we wanted a different time and asked if an opening would appear to let us know) we reserved for 5:45 dinner and were called later that the 8pm opened up. Great food and service.
Consistently excellent food and service in an unpretentious authentic setting. Ask to sit in Ben's section--he'll always steer you in the right direction.
The best food in that area services good drinks are great chef is excellent
Way too long to get server and the price was steep. Atmosphere was awesome, waiter was rude!
Everything on the menu is excellent!
enjoyed the food very good service clean place
Cool place to go
Definitely get reservations for this popular spot. French onion soup was the best I've had. The bar menu is probably the best I've seen on our trip to Jackson.
This place was very hyped up for what it was. The pork was dry even with being cooked medium and gnocchi tasted only of salt and oil. The salmon was ok, but also dry around the edges. Best part was the herb salad. Also, ate the eskimo bars that were featured on 'best thing I ever ate' and it was one of the worst things I ever ate...ice cream tasted freezer burned and the chocolate tasted like sugar alcohols. Very disappointing.
Best wagu I have ever had
That was delicious food! The vegan options, meat choices, and atmosphere are all wonderful...
Delicious food, great service!
A great option for an authentic Jackson dining experience.
Top-tier dining experience in Jackson.
Great drink selection! Try the Wyoming Whiskey Outryder. And my New York strip was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend!
This was one of the best meals of my life. Bison pot roast was excellent. Onion rings were one of a kind, and huge!
Great quality in food. I love it
Beer was decent. Service was so-so but the menu was very limited. Wish the menu was even 1/4 of what the drink menu was. Very expensive for three leaves of Romaine and a little cheese.
Smoked salmon pancakes, nice atmosphere, fit for foodies
If sn elegant setting, warm decor and good food suit you, this is your place.
The service was average but the food was poor. There are a lot of great options in Jackson; this is not one of them.
AMAZING DINNER! THANK YOU!
Great atmosphere, great food, and we were treated to excellent service. Certainly lived up to its expectations and so much more.
Good service..good food..good people
Wonderful food, wonderful staff, and wonderful atmosphere. A local treasure. Chris runs the bar like a machine, and he always has a word for his guests. Katie runs the dining room likewise. And what can you say about the food other than YUM!.
Good whiskey selection and incredible deserts?
