The Flying Nostril

This diner is everything you want to have when you visit a city overnight. The staff was friendly and jovial overall as well as patient with my two small children. In addition the food was top notch, especially the chicken fried steak. The eggs were just right, and the French toast was also very good. Stop here to eat before or after you check into the neighboring hotel or just stop on your way through town, either way it should be good.

I'm typing this from the counter at Penny's. I'm convinced that the bad reviews were an off day or a time when they weren't well staffed. My belly is full from what is quite possibly the best diner burger I've ever had. Perfectly cooked fresh meat, griddle toasted bun, proper fresh lettice, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. The service was spectacular from the moment I walked in the door. People were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and organized. When staff wasn't preparing food or waiting on guests, they were cleaning and organizing. The only bad thing is that I couldn't eat three or four meals. The food prepared in front of me looked and smelled fantastic. Unfortunately I don't live nearby, I'd love to be able to come back here over and over again.

Great place!! Very quick service and I read most if the reviews whilst enjoying a great plate of biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon grilled to perfection! It seems they are working on their issues with gloves and cleanliness!! Looks great and seen the cook go through 3 pairs on my order alone. Yea the booths could be better but we are a nation of big asses! And I'm sure some parts to an old manufactured diner could be hard to attain. Anyways go try it there is no juke box but great food and atmosphere

Pennys, was horrible,there was only the cook at first. The place was dirty and tables.needed to be wiped down. We ordered and the CFS was freezer burnt and food not very good anyway. Within a few bites I found a hair in my food and completely lost my appetite. No one checked on us, and no one brought us our bill. And the lady thay was sitting up front didn't notice us and when I finally said something she just continued to play on her phone while telling the cook to come over. Terrible place.

I have eaten at Penny's Diner several times. Food is tasty and well prepared. Staff is courteous and efficient. Establishment is clean and quiet. In my opinion Penny's is the best in Cheyenne for diner-style food.

Eew. They didn't have anything. I ordered a salad- sorry no lettuce. And the menu descriptions are totally wrong. The skillet description has a list of veggies and sauce and then they come out with a totally different mix of things. I might not be mad if what I ended up with actually tasted good. It didn't. And it's freezing in there! Don't waste your money.

Service was good. But that didn't really hold any relevance when the food looked liked something out of a box meal. Fries where dry like the desert and chicken was cold like the artic. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, they do it well. Also, being located on Dell Range and just next to Owl Tree Inn, its great for out of town visitors, for business or leisure.

This is disgusting. Dirt everywhere. The people who work there overwhelmingly hate their job, because none were smiling or saying anything, not even a greeting. I only ordered hashbrowns, eggs and bacon and had to wait for ever. Maybe everyone working there had their first day and never done a restaurant job.

I actually witnessed a cook pull scrambled eggs out of the trash can, throw them back onto the flat grill, and warm them up to serve on a dish to be sent out to a customer. This was a couple years back and I told the management. We left. Don’t eat here. Gross.

Gordon Ramsey needs to do an intervention here. Service is ok, but food was awful. Almost inedible. My wife got the chicken strips dinner with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The veggies were burnt (not sure how it is possible to burn microwave-steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot frozen vegetable mix) and the mashed potatoes came out of a box and had a big clump of hardened, clumpy, freeze dried potato mix in them. Chicken strips tasted like they went straight from the freezer to the fryer. I got a burger. Burger was okay, but was preceded by a "salad" which consisted of brown, wilted ice burg lettuce topped with a handful of dried-out cheddar cheese shreds. "Salad" was a $2 extra charge. Restaurant atmosphere did not add to quality of dinning experience. Our waiter served on us in between stepping out for smoke breaks and the flies outnumbered other patrons in the restaurant. I won't be coming back. Please don't eat here.

We've had good experiences at other Penny's Diners in Wyoming but this one is the exception. The food was overpriced and pretty lousy. The service was horrible and the restaurant hadn't been cleaned in some time, including the menus which had sticky food on them. Very disappointed.

I went into Penny's Diner tonight and some things were good and some were not as good. My server (Sara) promptly assisted us. I quickly noticed the entire restaurant was filthy. Tables that other customers had eaten at were not cleared, the counter had a layer of eggs, salt, and crumbs, the floor behind the counter had all different kinds of food particles, the menus were filthy, and the syrup bottles were sticky. As I am watching the cook (Rebecca) prepare food, I see her grab raw bacon from her prep station and put it on the grill and never change her gloves before grabbing a hamburger bun for another lady's sandwich. In fact she wiped her hands and gloves on a filthy rag she had hanging at her side. Our meal went by smoothly and the food was good. Yes I ate it having known she had contaminated gloves on but felt secure knowing she did not touch any of our food with the gloves but instead had used a utensil. My biggest complaint is that the manager (Andrea) did NOT do one thing while we were the there besides get herself coffee and sit on her rear end. She couldn't even ring us up but proceeded to yell across the restaurant for Sara to come work the register. The store is a mess but it is not surprising with such an incompetent and lazy manager running the place.

The french toast is simply amazing... The breakfast burger is off the charts... and the club sandwiches are a true club made the way it is suposed to be. I have eaten here three times and have had excellent service every time. The sweet tea is truly southern made perfectly. Would love to try a dessert, but the food portions always fill me up. This place is a amazing step back in time with great music and wonderful nostalgia on the walls. If you havent been here do yourself a favor and check it out. Very awful dinner here, one of my worst dining experiences. It took about 1.5 hrs to get our food, the restaurant was maybe half-full. We ordered our kid's meals immediately (hot dog and oatmeal) so they could get their food earlier but the meals all came at once, 1.5 hrs later. I built my own burger, which came missing 2/5 of the toppings I requested. My wife's sandwich had a hair in it and was missing a topping. My son got a hot dog, which was burnt to a crisp and on a huge sandwich bun. My daughter got oatmeal which looked like they had made it in the morning and were using the same batch at 7pm, they also never brought her toast. During our wait, the waiter brought my kids coco-crispies, a nice gesture, but not what I wanted to feed my kids at 7pm. Then we got the bill, they charged me an extra $2 for the toppings I didn't receive and an extra $8 for the kids drinks (included with the meal, according to the menu). After letting them know, they took off the drinks and toppings. All together this was a bad experience and we won't return.

Poor service but the food is good. Be prepared to wait on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was badly under staffed so it took time for tables to be bused increasing the wait time. I felt bad for the guy running the floor. He was slammed and was in a total panic. It took a long time for the food to come out so the kitchen was probably understaffed too. On a Sunday morning don't expect to get a coffee or water refill without having to hunt down the waiter. Hopefully the owner figures out the staffing problem because the food is good. Will come back and give them another shot.

Such an amazing diner loved the ambiance of the 50s diner. Staff were super friendly and very attentive. Food was incredibly fresh and so very tasty. Portions were awesome. You don't leave hungry. Super clean staff were cleaning when not serving. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often.

This place was GROSS. The floor was filthy and in need of a good sweep. They also could've given the whole outside a power wash so I could actually see out the window while I am eating. The service was not great either. She brought us our food and then never bothered to check on us. When my husband stood up and asked her for the check (after waiting for 20 minutes) she just looked at him and kept doing what she thought was more important than servicing the customer. I honestly don't know how this place is still in business.

My last visit at this establishment started out fine. My family and I where greeted and seated, however our order was not taken until 20 minutes after we where seated. This was not a “what would you like to drink and I’ll be back to take your order” type of thing. We were simply ignored. After another 20 we received our food, after another 30 mins of being ignored we stood up to leave since the server could not be bothered to check on us. After never coming over to check if we need refills or napkin or any thing she just says “ oh are you ready to leave?” The worst service I’ve experienced in my life. My wife decided to give them another shot, I had had my share of disappointment from this business and chose not to go. After another poor display of cooking and service the man that check her out proceeded to change the tip amount that she had chose to give. He chose to STEAL! So I strongly recommend avoiding this place. If you do go, use cash.

Little chain diner. Didn't look like much and the heat struggled with the thin prefab walls ... But the first time we visited, the food and service were very good, both exceeding expectations by a wide margin. The second time ... The service was still good, but the food was a lot less pleasing: the chicken was dry, the hot vegetables were half hot / half refrigerator cold, and the meat had a slightly acrid character, like the grill had something burned on it. Decent coffee both times, and the 24/7 schedule is handy. A decent place to roll the dice on some food.

Bacon burgers are delicious! Also, some of the best vanilla milkshakes I have ever had. Thing is, their breakfast is not up to par. It is not bad, but could definitely be improved. The service, for the most part, is quite good. The cook was nice all three times, and I am not bothered by the waiter over and over. You get a lot on your plate for what you paid. I primarily go for the shakes, but would like a better breakfast. Still, the place feels cozy but is hidden behind a bar, and only seems to be two other customers each time I go with a friend. Like many diners, the place gives a vintage vibe, and it is fairly priced. Check it out!

Penny's Diner doesn't deserve 1 star! Filthy beyond belief! The floors, table tops, people, everything is so dirty I thought, "I'm going to catch a disease!" I felt dirty just sitting in a booth! Then the food came, cooked on the filthy grill and tasted like old rancid grease! The coffee tasted like something I've never tased before! Beleieve me nothing like coffee! I about gagged on the frist sip and didn't finish the cup! The coffee pot was filthy and the very hefty waitress was wearing an old stained and filthy T-shirt! A poor filthy child was seated in the booth on the other side, playing with filthy toys! I think the health department needs to pay this place a visit and close their doors! I doubt a through cleaning could ressurect that saftey of this place, and the only hope is to bulldose it and start over!

Not a very good experience at Penny's Diner... I ordered a chili cheese burger with fries and a shake. Pretty basic for a restaurant order, or so I thought . The chili was old, the fries were cold also the cheese was missing off my chili burger and the cook who was also the server informed me that the shake machine was not working but he did give me a glass of milk with no charge. So jokingly I asked the cook if it was his first day on the job and to my surprise he said yes it was so apparently his girlfriend who was working the front desk of the hotel which is inside Penny's Diner helped him get the job. So I'm slowly finding out that it's who you know not what you know...

This was by far the WORST service I have EVER received. Upon entering there was no instructions whether or not it was a "seat yourself" situation, so my husband and I had to basically guess what to do. After 10 minutes of wondering if anyone even WORKS here, a very greasy, sweaty older gentleman comes up to us, sighs VERY loudly, rolls his eyes and takes our drink order. Apparently we didn't speak up enough because this man then barks at my husband 'WHAT????' It was highly uncomfortable. It then took almost another 5-10 minutes to get one coke and one chocolate malt. Next, I couldn't believe what happened. This man I didn't see wash his hands ONCE, but then proceeded to use his BARE HANDS to cook our food, sweat dripping onto my food. What unfolded next was like being in a drama TV. Both my husband and I witnessed someone get fired, very entertainingly might I add, but nonetheless very unprofessional. Vulgarities tossed around, name calling, shouting, just an all around uncomfortable situation to be in, especially while one is hangry and just want some damn food. THEN another drama-tv situation happened. Someone got broken up with! Same thing, vulgarities, name calling, shouting, all this happened right behind the booth we sat in. Finally our food came, while it was okay tasting it was not worth going over in the slightest. I'm pretty sure I could've gotten better food at McDonald's. Last but certainly not least, payment. I went up to pay for my food at the counter and I stood up there 20 DAMN minutes while this girl at the counter ran around like a stinky chicken with her head cut off. She was not only running front desk for the hotel attached, but also counting her drawer which she couldn't decide if it was 50 dollars short or 5 dollars over. Eventually, this sweaty tank top wearing lady takes my money and gives me my change back. My husband and I got out of there as FAST as we could. I legit think it was a front for something illegal. That's the literal vibe I got. I don't think people actually eat here, because if it is? Worst service I have ever had. I literally thought for a second we were at one of those restaurants where they treat you bad on purpose. Alas, I was mistaken. If I could get my $40 and my 2 hours for 2 cheeseburgers, fries and a shake/coke order I would. That was the most worse, scary service I have and probably ever will receive. YIKES!!!

Visited for dinner and was under staffed. Food was poor and waitress never refilled our drinks and didn't know how to operate the register to check out. Keeping my receipt and hopefully my account will have the correct transaction posted.

Achieving Greatness

Absolute worst service ever! I come once a week because my job requires me to and it’s a different terrible experience every time. Today she brought us our drink took 1 persons order and never came back to get anyone else’s order or bring the food, the cook finally brought it cause she never did. Last week we got our order but it was wrong and we couldn’t get it fixed or get drink refills because she was outside on her phone the whole time. Oh and don’t even think about going into the restrooms here!

Not as fun a place as it used to be. Food is okay, typical dinner style and quality. Not a bad choice to go there, there's just so many better ones nearby.

Stayed in Travelodge by Wyndham, Cheyenne... check-in and out at Penny's Dinner, and has my breakfast at Penny's... ***** Food is awesome, Very nice and friendly staff; both in hotel and dinner.
