I ate at Local last week while on vacation. Upon arriving to the restaurant the hostess assured me that they can handle gluten free requests. I ordered my burger with no bun and specifically told them I was Celiac and highly allergic. I did not have fries; as they are cooked in a shared fryer. I must have told the waitress 6 times that I was allergic. When my burger arrived with no bun I quickly realized my burger had sesame seeds on the top (just like the buns that other people were eating). The kitchen mistakenly put a bun on my burger and then removed it when they saw no bun. I'm so thankful that I was paying attention to this as I would have been so sick. My uncle went back into the kitchen and told the chef that I could not eat this as removing the bun does not solve the issue of cross contamination. It took the kitchen over 20 minutes to make me a new one and bring it to the table. They did discount my burger half off but no manager stopped at the table to address the issues. I would not recommend this place to anyone with food allergies because they clearly do not care.

Food was amazing. However I asked for my $38 ribeye to be cooked"Medium " that thing came out I took two bites of the outer part and it was amazing. However, the rest of the steak was RARE. Even the waiter said it was rare and sent it back to the kitchen to be thrown on the grill longer. He brought it out again and it was still rare. He felt so bad he credited me back for the steak. I just got gaggy looking at how are the meat was. But the food was all Yummy. You have to buy the sides separately and they are about $6 each or 3 for $15 note: they are large enough to share between two people so plan accordingly.

I came here for lunch and left not needing to return. Bear in mind, my party did not have any of the dinner or more sophisticated options, so this review is based solely on one experience having the simple lunch menu. While there was nothing overly wrong with the place, it's just not that impressive. Burgers were fine but nothing special. The brisket sandwich was dried out and a little lame. My server was professional but not particularly vested in the restaurant. there seem to be better options elsewhere.

Had a nice dinner here with th family. We made a reservation so no waiting. The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. Food came out within a reasonable time period (we have two small kids so this is key.) Food was excellent and cooked perfectly. Drinks were also great. Excellent selection of bourbon and rye at decent prices. Desserts made everybody happy. A bit pricey but worth it.

Just don't get the $75 bison ribeye and you might get a good meal. Their truffle fries and truffle mac and cheese are the best and the rest of the food is OK and above. The ribeye was awfully fat especially for a dry aged. And we couldn't get an answer for how long it was aged. They have a cocktails for $40 and $80 that we didn't dare to try.

Too pretentious for my taste. Went for lunch with my daughter and waited at reception for such a time we thought we should seat ourselves. Then a waitress, seeing we did not have menus, asked if we had stopped at reception and said' let me check if it's okay for you to be seated'....and there were so many empty tables to choose from - hmmmm. The meal wasn't that great either - will not return.

Came in for a quick lunch and had the most delicious fish tacos with a phenomenal Chipotle sauce. My husband had the smoked trout salad which was out of this world. Great service Great local and regular beer and wine selections as well various whiskey selection it's a place not to be missed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Can't wait to come back! We ate here for lunch. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich which was described as: shaved New York steak, sauteed onions, white cheddar fondue on amarosao bun. My sandwich had one thick slice of really fatty meat on it and the meat was really tough. There were no sauteed onions. My partner had the Local Burger, which he described as nothing special. For the price point, I expect much better food than what we were provided. Wait staff was attentive, but not overly interested in insuring our satisfaction.

This place was yummy! We both enjoyed what we got there. We were disappointed that we went for something that appeared to be on the lunch menu but we were both happy with what we got. We had the Korean pork ribs to start and bread. Then shared the surf and turf special. With some Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. All of it was good. My only complaint would be the size of the lobster. It was tiny. Oh and the dessert. That is usually my complaint though. I am dairy free and finding a dairy free dessert is always a challenge. They really didn't have any desserts I would pick if they were dairy free, however. So the selection could be better I would say. All in all the service and good was great! We left full and happy.

We had a reservation but had to wait 20 minutes for our table. Our waitress never brought our drinks, the cocktail sauce tasted more like marinara sauce and we finished our steaks before our server came and said she would check on our sides which never came. Three of us had the elk. We all ordered medium rare. It was beyond well done with no pink. My niece wanted to try elk but my sister was concerned she wouldn't like it so said she would give her some of hers. The server said she would have the kitchen split it only to come back and say the kitchen wouldn't cut it because it had a bone in it.

We are not from this area so we asked which restaurants would be good to try and someone suggested Local so me, my wife, and daughter decided to try them out. We made reservations and showed up early and they seated us on time. Waiter show up and I ordered two oyster Rockefeller appetizers and when he brought them they were 4 little dinky oysters piled with bread crumbs it was a complete joke. I complained and instead of him saying something like I will let the manager know or try to make it right he could care less. I ordered a steak which was decent and a lobster tail that was half cooked. I ordered the mushroom side which was decent and the sautéed spinach which was like chewing yard grass-no joke. My wife ordered Butternut squash ravioli and was shocked when it finally arrived they were five dinky pieces of ravioli with a minute amount of butternut paste smeared over the ravioli. The portion was no more than the size of an appetizer for a child-no bs. My daughter said she liked her pork short ribs but again the portion similar to an appetizer size. The waiter was a nice guy but did not know how to truly wait tables and take good care of his patrons. We ate no more than $75.00 worth of food that we paid $178.00 for. Complete ripoff. This place is way overpriced and over rated. I run a business and know how tough it can be therefore I am very hesitant to leave this kind of review but this place needs to change or close. Gun barrel restaurant is way better and wish we had gone back there again instead of Local.

Had lovely appetizer, brought our own wine, paid the corkage fee but when it came to dinner, quite disappointing. Ordered the waygu top sirloin medium and got it beyond well done. Mentioned it to the server and manager, I only had one bite, my husband had maybe one or two bites and still got charged most of the price. The place came highly recommended, however, for an $80 tab, our own wine and an appetizer and pretty much leaving hungry, quite a disappointment.

We were a walk-in with 13 people and they said if we waited a little bit they could seat us, but we would be separated. This was quite understandable, but didn’t want to be separated. So we decided to make reservations for the following night so we could all dine together. They said they would accommodate us and set it up for us. We were very happy to hear this and left them a credit card so they would charge it $25 per person to make this happen. We showed up at the restaurant on time with entire party. They said that they wouldn’t seat us together. Not couldn’t, but wouldn’t. There were several options to accommodate us by moving a table but absolutely refused! I spoke with the manager “Josh” who with a big smile on his face said that there was nothing he would do to accommodate the promise they gave us the day before. He said it was not a possibility anywhere in Jackson that this would happen!!!! We walked into the Million Dollar Cowboy Steakhouse and they jumped through hoops and sat all of us 13 in approximately 5 minutes. So I will never step foot in Local again and if asked, I would go out of my way to convince everybody not to eat at this extremely rude establishment.

We came in during Elkfest, a party of 6. Were told of about a 40 minute wait, no problem. Was seated about 45 minutes later. No problem. . .took 15 minutes to see a waiter once we were seated. . .Then took 15 minutes to get the drinks. ..ordered food. . Took over 30 minutes to get food . . Food was very good. . . .Great burgers!!!!!! Would have been a 5 star but the service was very bad. . .and we were seated at 2:10 after a lot of the crowds have left. . There was not much truffle taste in the asparagus, but you could definitely taste a hint of it. Those were my least favorite side dish, but it was still good. The truffle mac and cheese was my favorite side. Great truffle flavor and crispy on the top and bottom. No complaints there! We ordered medium rare for our steak and it was cooked perfectly. Flavor was on point! I was not expecting that at all. The server was nice and the food took a little time, but it was busy, so it was expected. Atmosphere was dark and dimly lit, but fit the ambiance. It was loud it there, but that did not bother either of us. Overall, it was a good experience and prices were fair for what you got! I would definitely give it a try if you are willing to wait.

Not sure what was worse, the quality or the service. Our cocktails had way too much alcohol, almost not drinkable. My wife ordered a filet, I had a ribeye. The filet was over cooked, the ribeye was under cooked. On the side we had gratin which was completely dried out. When we walked in, we were getting told that there is a 20 min waiting time for a table. At the end we had to wait 45 min and other people, coming after us also without reservation were getting seated before us. When we finally made it to our table, it was way in the back right next to the kitchen. The worst place in the entire restaurant. That happens when you are a interracial couple. This restaurant has not understood yet that the time is over where people of color are getting placed in the back. People are flying in from all over the world to see Jackson Hole and leave their money at local businesses. Be more open minded

The wait was too long even when I asked several times about a table in the bar area. Other people were being seated after us in bar area. Waited for over a hour. We had split checks that they messed up 3 times and still didn't get it right. All while waiting for it to get corrected my togo order was getting cold. It took 25 min for them to correct it and still ended up leaving and making the the corrections between my party. It was just lack of listening. Also the filet steak we orderd came out cold and the Phillysteak lacked something..just did not have a good flavor. Nice restaurant but just lacked quality.

Our party of 6 had a reservation originally at 7:00. Our tour went long so we called to see if we could back the reservation to 7:15 and they said no problem. Running late we had one person run in at 7:15 to let them know we were here while we parked. When we got in, the hostess made a face and said you had a 7:00 reservation. It was so rude. After being seated with our other guest who had been seated, we waited for about 15 min with no service and felt like that was our punishment. When the waitress finally did come to our table, she wasn’t apologetic or friendly at all. Two in our party ordered mixed drinks and they were terrible and neither could drink them. The food was ok except for one ribeye($38) which was way over cooked and charred looking. For over $500, it was a flop! Gratuity was already added thus why service was subpar! Would never return or reccomend.

Great food at a higher cost but thats to be expected in a resort town. Buffalo burgers are a little smaller and cost a hefty amount if you want to add $.50 add-ons above the basic pickles lettuce and a slice of tomato. I was in town for business and I had dinner here. I think it was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten and it was on the happy hour menu. The atmosphere is fun and lively with a good mix of locals and tourists. They also had an extensive cocktail menu. Give this a try you won't regret it.

We were visiting Jackson on vacation and wanted to have a nice dinner to kick off our trip. The local was a great spot with refined dining and great reviews, so we gave it a try. The menu is one page and The limited menu means they do everything really well, and we were not disappointed. The brussel sprouts were fantastic the drinks were top-notch, and our dinner items were relatively small portions but we're full of flavor and very enjoyable. The lamb, cooked medium, was a little bit tough but otherwise very tasty. We enjoyed our experience at the local and would not hesitate to return.

Just vacationed in Jackson Hole last week - beautiful country! We were excited to try Local for a late lunch one day and were seated pretty quickly. Sadly, it goes downhill after that. We waited for quite a bit for a waitress, even though she had passed by us several times with no acknowledgement. Finally, I sat our water glasses on the edge of the table and after awhile, she finally came to our table. There was no acknowledging that we had been waiting - we totally would have appreciated that. My husband orders something from the bar...the bartender sits it on the counter and our waitress proceeds to clean 2-3 tables knowing it's there, then the bartender finally brings it to our table. Super disappointed in the service - poor attitude of waitress. The food was decent, but overpriced.

I'd heard a lot of good things so I went to try it myself after living here for a couple of years. I just got some quick bar food so maybe that was the problem but I wasn't impressed. The burger was so-so and the fried Mac and cheese was just bad. I may have to go back and try a steak as that is their main selling point, but I have lowered expectations.

Every December our family takes a trip to experience something new and celebrate and reflect on the year we've had and the New Year to come. This trip usually falls during our wedding anniversary, and my husband and I like to treat ourselves by having a nice dinner in a different city. This year we went to Jackson Hole and decided to dine at Local. My husband and I both ordered french onion soup, filet mignons, truffled macaroni and cheese, and whipped potatoes. Unfortunately for us, I was hit with a stomach virus within a few minutes of us ordering, and we had to leave right away. Our waiter was so gracious in quickly packing up our food to go. While it ended up being a very long and terrible night for me, my husband throughly enjoyed his meal at our hotel and I enjoyed the leftovers the next day. I have no doubt that had we been able to stay; the night would have been wonderful.

Great happy hour at the bar - nice app selection and friendly staff. The crowds here can get overwhelming due to the seating positions - so know that if you're sitting in the bar people will be reaching over, under and around you the entire time. Entrees are ok - certainly not worth the price but you're eating on the square so they charge whatever they like. My food came out incorrectly cooked to temp. and with the wrong sides. For a $100 plus meal for two I was expecting more.

Great place for good food and drinks. One of those places to go on a special occasion for me since it is a bit pricey but being in Jackson I’d say it’s the same price level as most restaurants in The Square. Definitely good for families on vacation coming to get a good western meal with a great atmosphere.

We tried but so many reasons not to return...... 3 of us went to Local for lunch around 1pm on a Wednesday, not too busy and thought we would have a great meal. The first issue that we had is that I ordered a whiskey mule to drink and i received something that looked and tasted like concentrated lime juice, it was awful. I simply sent it back after the waitress was a bit standoff-ish about it. Really didn't want to send it back but it was undrinkable. I ended up getting a glass of beer instead since I had a JH Ski Club Membership discount card. We ordered meals, two burgers and one lobster salad. Both burgers were ordered Medium Rare and came out more than Medium. I ordered the special (Elk burger) but was never given the price (my fault, i figured it was close to the same as the other burgers but it was $24!!!) I decided that I'd just deal with it and not come back because I didn't feel comfortable sending back another item. My wifes lobster salad was very expensive and came with a tiny piece of lobster that was tough due to being overcooked. Needless to say our meals were extremely overpriced and the cook was way off on all of them. After I decided to just pay the bill without any complaints I handed my CC and my discount card to the waitress. She told me that the discount card (one free beer with an entree) was only valid at dinner time which the card benefits online do not spell out, in fact it says "anytime". She was not very nice about me pointing this out and so I simply asked to see a manager. At this point I was going to tell the manager all of the above since now I was irritated. She came back and handed me the bill with one beer taken off of it and never did send a manager out as I had asked. This was, by far, the worst restaurant experience that we've had in our 6 weeks in Jackson. If you want a really good meal and a fair price then go somewhere else and don't waste your time or hard earned money at this establishment.

The wait for drinks and food took forever. Waitress blamed it on us, manager blamed it on kitchen. Everybody pointing fingers At everybody else. We ordered the bison welington and so looking forward to the so called famous burger. Both came out luke warm and over cooked. Manager took them off, but our night was ruined. Way too busy restaurant.

Took my family there last night . Great service but the food was horrible . Our bill was well over $500 two of us ordered the $104 grass fed aged steak . It was below average . We had to send it back , they didn’t cook the temp correct on both . When you spend money like that on a steak you have one shot to get it right. When your customers pay that amount of money on a la carte and the Customer sends it back you have not done your job and the customers meal is a failure . You take care of your customer in situations like this . They did not . Also The king crab and avocado appetizer was horrible and flavorless the sauce that came with it was so overbearing . Everyone at the table tried it and hated it .The simple chefs hamburger was undercooked . This chef is not doing its job . We will never go back and will never recommend this restaurant . We felt the service was great and autosphere was just ok but nothing special. We are a restaurant family eating out all the time and also we’ve owned many restaurants 2 which are 30+ yrs open to this day and 1 open over 80 yrs ( family )so we understand the restaurant business as a Customer and as a owner . We are sorry we went .

Local is solid on many fronts. The bartenders are great, and their mixed drinks are always unique and strong pours. The restaurant side of things is fairly priced and good quality. Personally, I'm a big fan of their veggie burger - a reddish (and moist) fat patty made with something very nutty.

The food is top! Nothing to remark on this whatsoever. Best steaks in town and the option of so many other dishes and sides. The only reason i don't give it a 5/5 is because service can be very(very) slow both in peak hours and between.

Went here twice in Jackson, ordered the same thing both times and wasn't disappointed. My only complaint was the cut of steak was very different the second time (very tough/fatty) but the service, sides, desert, drinks were all of excellent quality. The French onion soup was good, the Brussels sprouts are amazing. Great spot, highly recommend.

Can't go wrong with this place. Great feel and look. Had the Elk chop for dinner with sides of crispy brussel sprouts, sauteed wild mushrooms and Yukon gold potatoes. Outstanding! Elk chop rivals any beef or pork, would have again and again.

Amazing restaurant in Jackson. Best service I've had in years anywhere. Our food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. We had the crab claws and rib eye. I am a steak snob and this was one of the best I've ever had. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Food was excellent! Waiter was a bit slow and semi unfriendly. I get the fact that it's a tourist town but a smile wouldn't break the faces of the staff = change atmosphere from stuffy to friendly.

They had a fantastic assortment of whiskies that kept my attention for some time, the food was delicious and not too pricy ($38 for a New York strip) and the bartenders friendly. Also yes, I sat at the bar: the wait for a table was an hour but sitting at the bar we got in and out in 55 minutes. I would recommend the bar as long as you don't mind sitting close to strangers.

Location location location... a bit pricey for what you get. The oyster shooters were great. Avoid the wedge salad. It was not only not good, I would say it was awful. I recommend the chimichurri steak with fries, it was great.

Delicious meal. We were lucky to drop in for early lunch at 11:30am, as it soon became very crowded. We had the roasted vegetable sandwich and bison burger. Wait staff very friendly and helpful.

Food was delicious! We had pacific oysters on the halfshell and seared halibut. The halibut was amazing! Flavorful medley of carefully chosen vegetables was a nice pairing. Pacific oysters were much smaller than we get on the East coast, but the meat was very good! $3 each is more than they should cost. This is an expensive restaurant, but it is definitely worth a visit. They have an expensive wine and beer menu to pair with your meal.

We came for lunch on Wednesday and loved the vibe, service was good, but both burgers were so over cooked. We asked for medium and got what you see on the photo. We liked the choice of wine and side salad with truffles. If you like your meat more juicy I would recommend staring it on a rare side.

The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly. I feel like the waiter wasn't engaged as I got sides that I didn't order and never saw him again after my order was placed. I had to get another of the staff to bring me a check.

Very good. Elegantly prepared vegetable. Superb sauces and good Buffalo and beef. No complaints about food at all. We called ahead to make sure they could accommodate 4 of us. We finished our meals (after only 1 hr) and my sister was trying to decide on a dessert, when our waiter told us that they had a reservation and needed our table -- ie no more time. I was really pissed after spending $250 and essentially being told to leave. Manager comped us a dessert

Great cocktails and amazing food. Perfect destination for someone visiting Jackson Hole for the first time. Local flavor - yummy dishes. Pork ribs from the appetizers were outstanding. Definitely recommend the charcuterie plate with smoked trout rillettes and truffled salami. Ohh and foie gras torchone was out of this world good. Sooo good.

First stop in Jackson Hole after a long flight! And glad I did! Awesome burgers are the perfect cure for a bad case of the hangries. Chili was good too, maybe not as good as the single burger though. Love the local beers too, like the Melvin IPA. Rodeo on the tv. Friendly bartender. Truffles fries were a hit too. Classy decor, with nice art work.
