Just back from dinner at Il Fornaio. Beyond bad. Ordered off the Restaurant Week menu. Big mistake. Duck was so tough and overcooked I could not cut it off the bone with a steak knife. Wine order was wrong. Check was returned twice to get it right. First (for one person) was $115. Then $105. Then (correctly) $65. Amazing.

Excellent experience! We were there for the first time on our 9th anniversary. Service was top notch and you definitely don't need to wait long if you need something or have a request. I've read other reviews mentioning there was lag time between being sat and someone greeting you at the table but there was no sign of that on our visit. From the customers to the staff, the whole place was in a good mood! Excellent service, excellent food and great environment. Thank you Robert and Chris for making our first visit, on a big day, a success.

I wasn't that impressed with my experience. I first got there at 6:55 because my reservation was at 7:00, they didn't get me sat until 7:15. Next, no one came to greet us for 12 minutes after we sat down, and didn't even apologize for the delay. The entire staff (our waiter especially) was rude and not very pleasant to our table, but was nice to the other tables, so it felt personal. Also, I looked at the counter next to our dining table and noticed there was a layer of dust on it, which made me think the restaurant was dirty. The experience I got was definitely not worth the $20.00 I had to pay for my meal.

Tour of Italy- Piemonte was excellent. Traditional 3 course meal paired with the perfect wine flight. Ambience is excellent, service fantastic. Can’t wait for the next regional menu!!! 7/6/18: Another fantastic meal at Il Fornaio. Regionale Venuto menu for July “YUM”! Dolci tidier for....As you can see, only prawn carcass left on our plates. Would have licked the dessert glass clean if there weren’t so many people around! Laura was delightfully funny and attentive.

One of the BEST happy hours in DTC/Greenwood Village area. 1/2 price pizza (and if you check their published nutrition a pizza you can split will run someone 300-500 calories per half) and cheap, but high craft quality drinks! If you're in the mood for red wine, their montepulciano is great, can't go wrong with any of the craft cocktails - bartenders are super friendly and insightful about their drinks and food offerings. For pizza, if you like a little spice, the fradiavola is fantastic - the christina is also nice and lighter and is very unique flavor. Calamari has always been fried to perfection, and the meatball duo is a must-try! Also THE BEST tiramisu I've had. They make it fresh in house. If you are looking something sweet but on the lighter smaller side, you can always order just one scoop of gelato for that sweet fix. :)

Went here for the first time for a work dinner event. Drinks at the bar were good. Bartender was nice and efficient and the drinks were good. However, when it came to the service and meal, I was hugely disappointed. The waitress, though pleasant, did not appear to have the experience needed/required to be serving at a place that boasts style, refinement & quality. The food was the most disappointing. I ordered the seafood platter (can't remember the exact name) and there were several problems. First, the scallops & the "white fish" that they claimed was Seabass, both had sand in them. The co-called Sea Bass was not sea bass at all. I have ordered it enough times from multiple restaurants in Denver as well as out of state to know the difference. The so-called Prawns were small and clearly were shrimp, not prawns. And yes, there is a difference between the two. It was very hot during dinner. Not sure if our area didn't have the air conditioning on but we were all sweating during the first part of the meal. It's sad because I had such high expectations. So disappointing.

We hosted our son and daughter-in-laws rehearsal dinner at Il Fornaio. It was fabulous. We had 43 people in a beautiful private room. I worked in advance with Mariah, the event planner and it was seamless. The evening of the event the staff was well prepared, the room looked so impressive. Service was impeccable, appetizers were plentiful, main courses arrived hot. The cannolis were the best! Staff was very hardworking, professional and friendly. We had a lot of compliments from our guests and it was a great start to the wedding weekend. I highly recommend Il Fornaio for an intimate event.

The atmosphere is lovely, very warm, inviting, and tastefully done. We went to Il Fornaio (DTC) for a ladies night out/Denver Restaurant Week combo event. Originally our party was meant to be 8 to 10 people so we were seated at a family style table in the back of the restaurant next to a beautiful fireplace. It was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night but we didn't mind! Our server was top notch - attentive, friendly, and helpful. She made excellent recommendations regarding the food and extensive wine list. The bread - of mixed types, including focaccia- was delicious with a perfect crust exterior and heavenly light inside. We shared a calamari appetizer that was hot and tasty but could have had a crispier finish. The dipping sauce had an excellent candidate tasty heat. The grilled Caesar with sardines was a highlight -- just know they drape 4 little sardines on there and they are salty! One person had cod, one person had the layered zucchini and two us had the duck. By all reports the cod was tender, the zucchini was okay. The duck was half the bird and not presliced in any way so it was difficult to eat. The sauce on the duck was good but I felt bad that I couldn't get to much of the meat. Dessert was okay but I wouldn't recommend either the canoli -- too much orange zest and the pastry was too dry-- or the bread pudding, sadly bland. If I go again, I will try something else. The wines were very good. The atmosphere was great. The back bar is extensive. There is seating outside for when warm weather arrives. Overall, a lovely place and I would go back.

I opted for a very good fish grillata and appreciated the really tasty broccoli that was present in more than just decoration amount. The Zabaione for dessert was a poem, and I can say the same about coffee. (Original) Ein italienisches Restaurant mit wirklich italienischen Gerichten. Zusätzlich zur Standardkarte wird jeden Monat eine andere italienische Region repräsentiert. Ich habe mich für eine sehr gute Fisch Grillata entschieden und schätzte den wirklich leckeren Broccoli sehr, der in grösserer als nur Dekorationsmenge vorhanden war. Der Zabaione zum Nachtisch war ein Gedicht, und das gleiche kann ich vom Kaffee sagen.

Service was horrible. Sat for over 5-7min before the server came out. Bread was not cooked all the way through, very doughy. Server, Jennifer, did not ask what portion size I wanted and when I questioned her when it was brought, , I said that is what I was wanting. she did not offer the smaller portion. Server never came to the table to see if I liked my dinner or if I needed anything, until another server came with the check and never offered me dessert/coffee. Had heard great things about this place, but was not impressed. Would not recommend if you are expecting something more than below standard Italian restaurant.

Wow! What a great time! Friends had a 40th birthday party here and 60 guests had a great time. The private patio was set up with wonderful seating areas that allowed for great mingling as well as group spots. The food buffet was awesome and just kept flowing until the final barrage of deserts..... the pannocatte was brilliant. We only had 2 wait staff but the did a phenomenal job of tracking down each drink order in a short time,..... try the Italian Old Fasion.

Had a really good experience at their San Diego location. So expecting good dining, but it failed. Food was good for most part, but they did not have few main ingredients, like tuna and squid. But it was the service that was terrible. Our server seemingly had two tables (there weren't that many people in the entire restaurant, due to holidays). But it took her more than 5 minutes to get us water, 10 more to even take our order and another 10 to get the bread. The manager brought the food, and the server didn't even check on it, nor offered fresh grated cheese for our pastas. Water wasn't refilled - she just looked at our empty glass and ignored it. Finally she brought the check by itself without the normal folder you put the check in. (She seemed to do everything proper for the next table over.) Either discrimination or complete incompetence on the part of our waiter. Thoroughly disappointed dinner.

Obviously a very popular place. Service was great. I simply wasn't impressed with the food. Great presentation but the flavor was lacking. The bread was good, the wine was better. The place was very busy. Because I love to cook, especially Italian, on my own, this place just didn't meet or exceed my flavor expectations.

I went in for dinner a few nights ago. The place looked great with a number of people around.The staff were attired in white coats and were polite. We overlooked the hostess who although she was very polite and attractive as a good hostess should be uttered the word buonosera. From there things went rapidly downhill. This is a poor facsimile of an Italian restaurant. Upon seating we were given a bread basket and oil and vinegar of lesser quality than I expected. The bread was doughy and not baked enough. We didnt order appetizers as they appeared pretentious and stereotype. All written in Italian with an English definition. We did order entrees. I ordered the tagliatelle bolognese and my wife ordered the squash raviolo. I asked for the bigger portion. When they arrived we were both given the mandatory minimal sprinkling of cheese even though the server said we could have as much as we wanted it seemed that the grater didnt want to work very well? My order seemed a little small but the bowl it came in was big so I guess thats what they meant by the 'larger' portion. The pasta and sauce were mediocre at best while the raviolo (5 of them) were inconsistent, some being hard and others being ok as if they didnt cook them all to order. The sauce with the raviolo was bland and not seasoned. Open a can and blend it is what it tasted like.The filling was quite frankly inedible with walnuts that tasted way past their best. We were in and out in less then 30 minutes. So for $40 plus tip we came out dissatisfied, and having confirmation that its just a pricey fake theme kind of restaurant who spends more money of the illusion of better dining than an Olive garden but in reality caters to the fools who are soon parted with their money. 3/10.

We are on vacation in Denver and got a to go order from Il Fornaio... Then menu looked good but by the time we opened our food at the hotel we were really dissapointed. My husband ordered a full order of ravioli- was charged for a full order but only recieved a half... my order was mostly pasta shells... there were only about two decent bites of chicken... When he called back to tell them they messed up his order the manager said, "Well, at least you got a taste of it"... They did offer a full order for free but after the quality of this order we would rather have a refund. This seems to be a case of a sloppy chef who just did not care tonite. There are alot of other places to eat in Denver... perhaps it's better if you dine in.

Nice atmosphere but the food and service was blah. Server had no interest in adjusting the bill upon learning I didn't care for my dinner. She offered to get me something else but it was a bit late in the game to go that route since the rest of my party had already finished their dinners >> It would have been weird being the only one eating after the fact. Other than "I'm really sorry" I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling that she wanted to make it right.

Very dissatisfied. I first went to this Il Fornio 25 years ago when it opened. I was excited to go back there and experience a great dinner. Unfortunately it was not a good experience at all. From the minute we walked in not so good. No, we did not have reservations, however the did have seating in the bar area. I just wish the hostess did not treat us like second class citizens because we did not have reservations. We did sit at the bar. The staff did not seem happy at all. The bartender seemed competent however not really thrilled to be there. So just average service. Food was ok but when you look at prices should have been outstanding. This meal ended up costing $117 plus tip for the two of us. We had debated on driving down to Carmine's on Penn, we definitely should have. I am truly disappointed as we did not get a good value for our money! Will not be going back any time soon.

Higher-end restaurant. Don’t expect it to be cheap. Courteous staff, clean place, beautiful decor, and tasty food. I got a risotto con gamberi and a salmone a la griglia. Both were delicious. Each plate was about USD 25.00. That’s the average cost. A margherita pizza is one of the cheapest plates around USD 17-18.

It has been about 10 years since i last visited this restaurant. I'd have to say this visit didn't meet up to my memory of the place. We were seated immediatly, but in a porch area on uncomfortable "patio furniture" eventhough there were tables in the min seating area with proper tables and seats. We were greated after about 10 minutes. We ordered drinks, and the waitress came back to let us know the bar ewas "backed-up" and it would be a while. We ordered off the regional menu figuring it would be the most imaginative and best representation of the chef's effort. My salad was so sour and tart it was inedible and to Il'Fornio's credit they took it back. My veal was truely without spirit. It was cheesed up to the point the veals flavor was obscured. My memory might be flawed, but I remebered Il'Fornio as a fine Italian dining experience. What we experienced was way closer to Maggianos or Buca di Beppo, but at 3 times the price.

Expensive but wonderful free food with an Italian flair. Top notch serviette is attentive but nt intrusive. Plates are generous and easily split it two meals. Not good for kids at all.

THIS PLACE is over the top excellent. The food is amazing. The service was intelligent and perfect. The atmosphere is crazy and fun Euro Italian. (I'll say its not my style and my taste in decor should not be taken into account here) I had a first date and although she and I didn't work out, I'll be coming back here again.

This was a let down. The food quality was just slightly better than what I expect from Olive Garden, but the cost was MUCH higher. Neither my wife, daughter, or I ended up eating leftovers. The children’s menu chicken was preformed chicken that was not fresh, and the quality of the pasta was at best fair. It isn’t hard to see why the restaurant was near empty on a Saturday night.

This is the hidden gem that you bring your friends to if they want Italian in DTC. Great food, open kitchen, free bread, beautiful restaurant with a great patio. Banquet rooms available as well. Great wine selection. Authentic regional menus are available sometimes. Mesquite wood grill, wood fire oven pizzas, and so much more!

We planned a dinner for our wedding day, there were a lot complications, a very rude restaurant manager that spoke to me like a child in front of guests and a huge bill for an open bar we didn’t agree to. I sent an email to the restaurant to explain our experience and we still have not receive a reply, can’t they at least have the decency to not ignore us and apologize? In the past we’ve had great experiences but this one has left us with regrets for choosing this place for such a special event.

The atmosphere is elegant, but inviting. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. The food is delicious. From the antipasti appetizer to the cannoli special to the traditional spaghetti and meatballs, it was all delicious.

This restaurant is lovely but the food is largely forgettable. Everything seemed to be mass produced, frozen for a later time and bland. I wish they would figure out the folks of southeastern metro Denver will pay a higher price for better food.

I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone! Great service, excellent food, omnianc is for every occasion. I would love to enjoy a meal here regularly and try many more items on their menu. Lastly their cucumber splash alcoholic beverage hit every note! Perfection!!

This place was great! The food was so amazing that I was excited to get home the following day to eat leftovers! I ordered (and would highly recommend) the Conchigle Al Pollo. I asked if I could get this with a cream sauce instead of the tomato sauce and it was PERFECT! I would order this again in a heartbeat! My dinner companions loved their meals and said their wine selections were fantastic. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal. The only complaint I had is that it took them a long(ish) time to bring us water. We were seated, served bread with oil and vinegar to dip it in, but didn't actually get water for several minutes.
