This Restaurant belongs to the category of American restaurant.
Cowboy cafe did not disappoint! Excellent service and food. The buffalo patty on the smoky burger was delicious!! Do yourself a favor and stop by. Our server, Tawni, was very friendly and attentive. If we are back in the area we will come back!
Good American comfort food with a few surprise options thrown in. Their famous for pies but I beg to differ. The crust is flaky but tasteless...needs a bit of salt to bring out the flavor of the crust and enhance the pie fillings. A large variety of fillings seem to be the main attraction and the bakers do get inventive with the combinations. Bathrooms could certainly use an upgrade.
Great variety of burgers with bakery style buns that were best have had on Wyoming trip. Guys liked the local beer. French fries & sweet potato fries are nothing special.
Best cooking I have had since vacation started. This hamburger steak with pepper jack and green chilies was FANTASTIC!!
Stopped here on a road trip from Jackson back east. Six of us had a variety from the menu.... great burgers, awesome southern fried steak and excellent Ruben. Best sweet potatoe fried ever!!! Great stop.
This is a wonderful restaurant. I think they serve everything made in house. Delicious food and very warm welcoming people. Everyone must visit this restaurant.
Food was okay, our open face roast beef was tough, inattentive waitresses.
Good food, great service, decent price. 1/4 of the price of the place across the street.
Food good, service fine, could have been cleaner
Great place in a small Wyoming town with really good food. Save room for the in house home made pies. They're incredibly good with generous servings, and of course go a la mode!
Small dining room, fast service, good food and plenty of it. They have 18 types of homemade pies!
This places was great. I dont know why they closed down. There is a coffee shop there now.
Best pie in Fremont County
Looks great from all the reviews. Can't wait to try this place the next time I'm in town! Glad to see they have black bean burgers and good salads. I am writing The Healthy Cowboy Cookbook. Just have to get it published.
Always happy to eat at this spot! Super friendly staff, excellent food and a great local vibe.
Special tonight was habanero peach ribs. Excellent!! Meat fell off the bones. Highly reccomend!
Great food. Great customer service. It is a small place but it is a small town. When we were there they were busy so we had to wait. But it was worth the wait. My buddy had a piece of pie and he was greatly impressed. I ordered ribs and they were good. The bathrooms are very small and the seating and room needs remodeling but overall I would go there if we were looking to eat around that area again.
This was recommended to us by the hotel manager at the Branding Iron Inn, it was definitely worth it. The food was delicious. My picky 4 yo daughter even ate all her meal. They have huge portions and are very friendly. It looks tiny when you drive by, but it is comfortable inside. If we come through this area again, we will make sure we stop in again.
Delicious food and service was awesome.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Town is very small but terrific!
Good food, fast and friendly service.
Don't be fooled by the small town the cowboy cafe lives in--they are doing some exceptionally good cooking in this restaurant. The omelettes are of the french style, not typical in my diner experiences. At the very least, stop in for their pie--so many choices!
Amazing food & outdoor dining! We went numerous times during our stay in Dubois. We never had a bad meal-so delicious!
As long as you can bear brushing elbows with strangers and a bit of a rush at suppertime, this cafe is a great bet. As a vegetarian I did not expect to have many options but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of choices. The food was very good, and the drinks were perfectly cold. The staff was friendly and obliging. My only nitpick is how crowded it at the time of my visit - but that aside, this little place is nice for a bite!
The daily special was bomb!
Excellent food and friendly service!
Great food and fast service.
Very good! Wow! Best hashbrowns I have ever had
The Californian BLT man... best sandwich I ever had...
I had the grilled ham and cheese and some pie with ice cream, it was delicious. My husband had the burger and is still talking about how good it was 5 days later! Very good!
Great variety of burgers with bakery style buns that were best have had on Wyoming trip. Guys liked the local beer. French fries & sweet potato fries are nothing special.
You must try the pies
Excellent food at reasonable price
Excellent food, they make awesome hashbrowns too. I can't wait to go back to Dubois, Wyoming.
Nice little restaurant with good food and good service.
Best pie in the West
Cute cafe, great food.
Always good. Most pie assortment in the county. Generous portions.
Loved this place!!! Spent the night in this wonderful town and found this gem of a restaurant. Great food and awesome service. Wish we could stay longer and come back!!
Good American food. I had a great bowl of green chili this most recent visit but usually get hamburgers hearty soups etc. Famous for a large selection of pies that are always home made. My favorite place in Dubois though some new places are also good this year. The Cowboy has been here for as long as I can remember (25+ years) and is always good home cooking.....
Great food, friendly laid-back atmosphere. Never disappoints.
Great food, happy help and wonderful pie!
A small place but great food great service. But the best part is the pie. Wow. Huge selection made it tough but the cherry almond crunch (a la mode) was to die for...
After reading the reviews I was really disappointed. Had a cheeseburger and fries which were not homemade but rather sure they were frozen and out of a bag. Husband had the sausage with cowboy potatoes and mixed vegetables, again all out of a can or frozen. Only good thing was the bun. Service was poor, never offered refills after our glass was empty even after the waiter kept walking by us numerous times.
Wasn't impressed. Ordered wild sausage...I think?? Mixed vegetables were out of a can, the cowboy potatoes I'm pretty sure were out of an Ore-ida bag... sausage didn't look "local" either. Dinner roll was out of a bag.
Been in dubois a long time, always good always busy, service is fast food is good, pies are excellent.
Staff is awesome, food is really good. The buffalo burger is delicious! Family friendly. Prices are really good.
Great food, great service. Highly recommended.
The local trout was incredible. Wife had a great salad with chicken... Save room for the pies
Great buger spot for a quick lunch. Friendly staff, good burgers
Good food, great price... no kids menu though, not the best option for a quick bite with little ones
We loved cowboy cafe. Had breakfast here with great scrambles and omlettes. You can add elk and bison sausauge to them. Service was friendly. Free wifi was great!
It is a small restaurant so there may be a short wait but it’s worth it! The food was excellent. The rotisserie chicken was fall off the bone tender. My husband has the ribs and they were tender and delicious. My son had hamburger steak which just needed gravy. Service was excellent despite being busy. They serve breakfast until 1 and offer beer, wine, Bloody Marys and Mimosas. I highly recommend.
Good food.
Outstanding food, service above imagination. Highly recommended
Super friendly staff!
Stopped in for lunch... We shared a Reuben that was absolutely AHHHMAZING... The extra steps and time to prepare the corned beef is evident. Really truly one of the best we've had. Homemade chips were great. We shared 3 types of pie and they were all great and just " special " in some way/twist on the usual. Huge fresh grilled shrimp on the salad that had a lovely mix of spring greens, really good. Great fast friendly service. Highly recommend.
Good food nice service. Gave us changes to menu.
Loved the hometown atmosphere.
Very good burger with tater tots and onion rings!
Friendly staff and quick to it. Decent food and coffee as well. I had an omelet, hashbrowns and some rye toast. It was a nice experience. They open early for those of you that are early risers or are just driving through and need to stop for a few. Slow down a little and just enjoy a meal. They sell really cool coffee cup and hoodie with there Cowboy Café logo on them.
Fantastic boisenberry pie and delicious burgers.
Great value. Nice setting.
A traditional American place to have dinner
Creative menu. Good service. Go early it gets crowded.
Deserves it's reputation as the #1 restaurant in Dubois, entertaining staff, with a wide menu and great selection of beers. The buffalo burger and crunchy tater tots were on point!
The cajun buffalo burger was GREAT!!!
I had possible the best ruban I have ever had here!!!
This place is known for its huge slices of pie
Stopped by this place on a whim after being pointed here for pie by the folks at the jackalope-themed gas station. Fantastic apple blackberry pie, great bison burger, and incredibly kind, chatty fellow diners. We even met a lady from our hometown in MN!
A ton of options and this place delivers everything you order. I personally had a burger and it was one of the better one I have had(i love burgers). Had their homemade pie with ice cream - would recommend. Great place and lots of variety.
Good food and pies
Food was good, pie was fantastic
It was hot in the cafe, smelled horrid, expensive would go again
Great Homemade Pies
Very busy, good food.
Every trip home from the Tetons, means a stop at The Cowboy Cafe for breakfast. Quick, efficient, and filling. Will continue to stop every time we come out.
The elk and bison sausage were very good and huckleberry ribs were excellent. Friendly staff. This is not fine dining but a good local joint I enjoyed by not being too persnickety about the canned corn and grocery store rolls.
Sitting outside on the sidewalk. Just finished a great meal. Wife had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Both were special. I had hamburger, onion rings. Both very good. Then I had pie--awesome. Had Kahlua chocolate pecan with vanilla ice cream. Highly recommended. We both had Black Tooth Brewing beers--they were also excellent
Very good hamburgers with excellent pie. The onion rings are perfect! Worth a stop if you're driving through Dubois from or to Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons
Great food, have come here for years!!
Great food ,price, service I could eat there every day
Really cool little place. Good food. Service a little slow, but friendly. Prices are a bit high, but nothing outrageous. I'll go back.
Basic food done really well.
Excellent breakfast food at this Cafe. Really good biscuits too!
Great little restaurant with great service and yummy food. My husband had the Bison burger and loved it. I had the cranberry brie chicken salad and would recommend it, very tasty. We sat outside and enjoyed great conversation with other diners in the quaint town of Dubois.
Found this gem after hours of nothing. Beautiful place with a warm welcome. We got sat right away with a full pitcher of water. Stacy was quick and recommended the supreme biscuits and gravy with spicy elk sausage which was love at first bite. We also had the house cured corned beef hash. I couldn't stop myself! The bowl of green chili was amazing too! (get it with onions). Thank you Cowboy Cafe staff we are thankful for you!
Great service even with the place packed. The food is straight up exactly what you expect.
Driving from Jackson, Wyoming to Minnesota on a Sunday afternoon and got hungry-- where to eat lunch along the way? Found this little cafe - luckily, because not much else was open - and we were pleasantly surprised! We both ordered salads and enjoyed them very much! Seemed like everyone else was enjoying their meals also. I would definitely recommend this cafe to hungry travelers!
Loved it. Great food, great service, very quaint town and wonderful place to stop. I would definitely go back to this little town.
Not a bad little place to visit in Dubois if you are passing through. The food is decent and prices seemed reasonable. The service was friendly enough. I think best thing on their menu is the homemade pie. I will visit this place again sometime in the near future.
Just had the most fantastic food! Black bean burger from scratch, excellent salad and soup! Had to finish it off with homemade pecan pie! Five stars!
Great food! Make sure you get a piece of pie!
The best (and oldest) restaurant in Wyoming
Very good food.
We had dinner and breakfast here. Both delicious. I wish I had taken a picture of the pie, it was worth remembering. So yummy!
Only got one cup of hot water for yeah food was good only two napkins at the table. Friendly atmosphere!
We agree with all the positive reviews. Nice little western cafe with excellent food and service (friendly and quick).
Great service, fantastic food Saturday night. Only issue, too busy to get in on Sunday morning
We stayed next door at the Stagecoach and walked over for breakfast almost every morning. The food is good and the portions are large so you don’t leave hungry. Seating can be tricky, they get kind of busy so you might have to wait for a table but that’s kind of normal anywhere you go. Will be back for another week soon so I’ll definitely eat there again.
Small place loved and known by all for your food and homemade desserts. If you don't get there when they open there will be a line but worth the wait! Friendly attentive service too!
Best breakfast around. Every time I'm in Dubois I make it a point to stop here. Best food within 500 square miles!
Original meals. Nice service. Good beer selection!
Pleasantly surprised to find a place in Dubois that had a vegan burger (Beyond Burger). Thanks, Cowboy Cafe.
A small town gem, with the best pie and prices on breakfast or lunch specials. Great atmosphere and great service.
Comfort food, homemade pie, and great service! Yum, yum, yum! Love this cafe.
Good hamburgers, friendly staff and fairly priced.
Adorable cafe! They had quick service and delicious food!! The prices were very reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Would definitely recommend this cafe!
I consider myself a bit of a chicken fried steak connoisseur and this is up there with the best I've tried anywhere. Well done.
Friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was good and hearty. Hip, modern and vegetarian options as well. Definitely recommend if youre traveling through and want a bite.
Place felt a bit creepy, the bathrooms had some "interesting" independent artwork carved into the walls. Food was unexceptional but not bad, it's hot food if you need lunch, but nothing special.
Great service, though it takes a bit to get your food. However, it's worth the wait! Their pie is just EXTRAORDINARY, too!
I loved The Cowboy hamburger with Onion Rings! This place is busy, but worth the wait! They clean up the tables quickly as guests are done so the waiting is minimal. They have a huge pie case. I didn't have room for pie, but they were selling... Next time!! Pie Alamode! Yummy!
Great stop. About an hour east of Moran/Grand Tetons - so it was time for breakfast, which was very good. ~ if you are in an RV or pulling one. Parking is very limited.
Good food but you find yourself crammed in as they have to meant tables for the space.
Great breakfast. Lots of variety.
Best homemade pies in the state
Everything, everything my whole table had was delicious. Fast and courteous service! Buns were homemade! Rustic atmosphere and clean restrooms.
Amazing food and friendly staff. Make sure to leave room for their amazing selection of pies. They have a nice variety of local beers also. We had the ribs with classic sauce and they were falling off of the bone.
Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. The most best burger I ever ate in my entire life. My big fat Greek burger. Loved every bite. Thank you
Best place for lunch in Dubois. The grilled chicken sandwich and all American burger is OFF THE CHAIN. Good service, good prices and great sweet potato fries and onion rings. We ate here 3 times while elk hunting, can't wait to to go back.
Ate here twice while staying in Dubois for our family's week long vacation. Loved the chicken fried steak, ribs, mashed potatoes, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and hot roast beef sandwich. The customer service was wonderful; very friendly servers made our visit memorable. We tried the cherry raspberry pie and chocolate pecan pie. The pieces are large enough to share. Excellent pies, service, food and location! Wish we were locals to enjoy this eating establishment on a regular basis.
Great service and great food as usual. we come through every 6 months and these guys have not disappointed me yet after 5 years!!!!
I never give a five. Just so you know the food was really good. The server tonight was a nice lady named Molly. She was attentive without hovering. A nice experience for a quick burger. Yummm.
The food was delicious, try the desert!
Delicious home-style eats with great prices and better pie.
Ok, but not great. Drove over 100 miles to get here based on recommendations. Not impressed.
We were there today. The young waiter gave us an excellent service. The food at a very good price and the food quality was exceptional...
Had pies which were out of this world! Love the boysenberry one. Great service as well.
Cozy place, good food.
Great food, with great friendly service. We'll be returning on our next visit to the area.
Great food and service
Great little place. Homemade food that was really good and filling. Great pie too!
One of my favorite stops when in the area. Usually very busy during the summer, it seems to be a local and tourist hot spot. Good food, coffee and lots of fresh pies. Stop in and see the galleries and other fine shops.
Came here for breakfast on Father's day while passing through town. It's open seating, and you might have a short wait (especially for large parties), but service is fast. Breakfast selection is awesome, very affordable (compared to Denver), and portions are large. We love breakfast and we'd be regulars if we lived here. See the menu.
An utterly charming place with great food and excellent service. The home made desserts are not to be missed!
Great burgers. Excellent fries. Large selection of pies. Friendly staff.
Good food . Need to find a bigger place
nice food, great servers
This small Cafe is great! My wife an I both had chicken fried steak that was large and very good flavor. The mashed potatoes were the real thing with the skins mashed in. We were too full to eat desert but couldn't resist the homemade pies. We each took a slice of pie to go. We will definitely be back here before we leave the area.
Oaky food. After a day in Yellowstone with limited dining options anything would be good
Brought me the wrong meal, food tasted like a school cafeteria.
Wonderful! Sweet potato fries are the best I’ve ever had! Tawni, our server was a delight and 100% deserves a raise.
Good food the ribs are good Pies on point must stop
Good food, good service good location with a few outdoor tables.
Great place to eat. The pies are fantastic. The only drawback is not enough seating during peak time
New sweet potato fries were way better than old ones
Love this place. Great for breakfast or Dinner
Awesome food and service!!
Nice home cooked food
Great food best prices I've seen in ages
The breakfast was really good.
Nice little cafe with good food and great staff. My wife said her salad was amazing, the kids devoured their sandwiches. The pies looked delicious, but I'll have to wait a few days to get some.
Good home cooked food, friendly staff. I’d give it 5 stars if it wasn’t so expensive.
Good sized portions to satisfy the hard working ranch hand or the hunter celebrating filling their tag. But while the main course is yummy, the pies are wonderful! Big selection of pies of many different types to satisfy your desert cravings. Pie selection does change as the pies on hand are eaten or new ones arrive but there is normally something for everyone.
Great food. Gotta try the Jack Peach pie
Wonderful food great service. A must stop. Had been years since I was through dubois. Stop by the cowboy Cafe you won't be disappointed
Great people, and great food. Not the fastest, but was well worth the wait.
2nd time there. Great Burgers, Great Service, Good pies.
Delicious burgers in a small town (971 residents). Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very popular, every seat taken. Looking forward to trying the pie that I got “to go”.
Awesome little diner in the center of town! Everything is made in house - pies, corned beef, biscuits, etc. Service is great and the prices are more than reasonable. We came in Sunday tired from the road and didn't realize it was 1 minute from closing and the welcomed us in with great hospitality. As a former restaurant manager, I appreciated that so much! Thank you! And it was so good, we came back for breakfast Tuesday! We ate breakfast on the sidewalk and the views are beautiful! Don't miss this little gem!
