This Restaurant is classified in the category of Thai restaurant.
I walked to this place from an area hotel I was staying in. The food was ok. I had an egg roll and a pad/pud thai with tofu. The egg roll was crispy but had too much oil. The pad thai was just a safe Pad thai. It was good. No problems. Not the best I've ever had. My friend ordered an eggplant dish. Overall, the food and service was good.
Excellent food! Thai dishes were neither too dry nor too oily with good amount of spice. Helpful waitstaff with a view of the chefs preparing the food. Clean kitchen!
Zero stars!!!!... just ordered Pud Thai from here through UberEats and there was metal shards in my food (My food was completely sealed and this was down a few bites, not right on top- so it wasn't the Uber driver)!! Wasn't great taste anyway, but the metal is really unacceptable and warrants a bad review. Get it together!
I love this place! The food is great and that atmosphere is superb, but the food is a bit more on the pricey side, $15 for soup, it's okay, but that's really my only complaint, tho take this with a grain of salt, because I'm not a pick eater and I'm willing to wait for food.
This beautiful restaurant serves delicious, authentic Thai cuisine! The crab rangoon is exquisite, and the mango curry was the best I've ever had! A must-try destination!!
A -$&#@- mazing!!! I've never had food that tasted this good. Food that makes my taste buds dance.
Over cooked and tasteless Pad Thai. Overpriced. For awesomely made $8.99 Pad Thai I could have went to Thai BBQ on 35th and National.
Best food in the area. Always a pleasure. Service is wonderful. 10/10 recommend.
This place is amazing and I have yet to be disappointed. I am addicted to the pork fried rice which can be ordered with any level of spice that one could care for. The grilled shrimp are absolutely delectable and worth the nominal cost. I must note this restaurant has the quickest prep and delivery I have experienced during the lunch hour rush. These guys know what they are doing and they do it well.
It's not what it used to be. They used to have the best Thai buffet bar none. Now the buffet is gone and the menu food is only average.
The difference that one year makes is amazing. I was there in June 2018 and previously in June 2017. This review is for the June 2018 visit. It was Saturday evening, large party with reservations, they were ready for us when we walked in. Thought that was a great way to start the evening at 6:50p.m. But it went downhill from there. I don't think I have ever gotten such poor service at this restaurant, and I have been here a number of times over the years. The waitress has an attitude from the moment we sat down. It took more than an hour to get all the food on the table (we laughed that maybe we should have a pizza joint bring us pizza as it would be faster). Still then one of the drinks was missing (from when we first ordered - not a refill drink). The waitress actually argued that it was served when there wasn't a glass on the table that the drink would have been in. She didn't care that the food was not prepared correctly. She never asked if we wanted another cocktail (and we all might have). She took almost 30 minutes to get our checks. I have come to the "King and I" many years now while the Bead&Button show is in town, and always enjoyed it thoroughly. I will never go back.
I love the food and parking is so convenient but the service is lacking. Every time I'm there it takes forever to get our food. I was there today from 11:45 until 1PM before I was finally served. Not a place for a fast lunch which is disappointing.
Was not impressed at all. I've had This food before and this was mediocre at best. Google says it has a lunch buffet. That is not the case. The have ONE lunch special for each day of the WORK week. Waiter took almost ten minutes to take our order. The food did come quick though. With so many Thai choices to pick from, unless something changes drastically, I will never be back. In my opinion, if you want Thai food, go elsewhere.
Awesome place! Food is great! Got a to go order recently and I am not disappointed. Keep up the great work!
Great lunch special, very generous portions, the server was very sweet and attentive, and the food was delicious!!!
The staff is always so friendly and this is our favorite Thai place in Milwaukee. The crab Rangoon is amazing! Well priced as well!
Chicken Thom Kah soup is delicious. Yellow curry with chicken is mediocre. Will definitely come again.
I remembered Bob , I would go there practically every day for lunch My friends lo and Abraham worked there Then when you guys opened a location in St Francis Best food , owners and all around place I miss that place so much but try to go when in Milwaukee
Waiter just demanded we order after less than 3 minutes to look at the menu because "That party need to order, so you order now!"
Cute little hidden spot in the downtown area. Don't let the dark outside fool you, the inside is well lit and nicely decorated. We had the volcano chicken which was the best volcano chicken I have had and the chicken curry which was a bit on the sweet side but still very tasty. The portions were good and the waiter was very nice.
Great food.
Food is always delicious and the service is great. I always get the volcano chicken which is consistent.
It was a dinner, I am a vegetarian ordered Tofu cashew and Pad Thai with non fried spring rolls. All were good, not the best but no complaints. Good location walking from my hotel. Decent ambiance and good service. Overall recommended.
Great food and comfortable, gracious atmosphere! The food was stellar and they easily and gracefully accommodated our large group. I had the crispy grouper and it was excellent. The pad Thai and massamun curry also got good reviews. Completely recommend.
Good food and drinks. Friendly staff.
One of the many great thai places MKE has to offer. A little pricier than some but they have some unique dishes that I can't find elsewhere. Siamese Jade is incredible. Lovely staff as well.
Excellent food. I had tofu cashew nuts, and husband had had mango chicken curry. The only problem was that the waitress was a bit inattentive and was pretty late to give us our check. Otherwise, you know, it was really good.
I love to go this place before, but will never come back again. Food is bad, service is bad. Food comes out really slow during lunch hour, the ingredients are not very fresh, the lady was rude as she forgot to order ppl dishes all the time with no apologies or sth. I will never come back again. Never ever.
I always get the kang curry with chicken. If you like red thai curries this is on of the best in milwaukee.
My favorite Thai food. I really like the volcano chicken. Spicy dishes are available in 4 spiciness levels.
food and service are average
Disappointed in the food. Soup was excellent but the entree not great
Food and Service were just OK, but ambiance was not.
Excellent food and service. One of the few Thai restaurants you can get Volcano Chicken.
Good Thai food and very friendly service. Somewhat known for their 'volcano' dishes which is pretty darn good. Pay for parking in the back.
Good location. Clean and well maintained.
Great Thai food! The lunch menu options are especially great because they come with a ton of food for a really good price.
Better than other around
Food is ok, very very bad service
Great food with good service. If you want to experience thai food in Milwaukee, this is definitely the place. If you're not too safe with spicy food, make sure to specify level 1 spiciness. Level 2 isn't bad either, but anything above that might be a bit much.
A very nice, clean place. Great atmosphere and ambience. The food is excellent and the service is efficient. Nice size portions.
I went to this restaurant for the first time and I had the worst experience. I asked Ally P if the dish I was getting was good and she immediately wrote it down. Then ask again did she like it then she told me to get it with chicken. Then asked her again for the third time was it good and she finally answered yes. Once I got my food it wasn’t to my liking and I asked the receptionist if I could switch dishes. She let Ally P my waitress know that I didn’t want my dish. They took my dish away and Ally P came back and told me that she didn’t tell me to get this and still made me pay when I didn’t even have two bites of it. I paid for food never ate and left starving. I will never come back here or recommend.
I was told this place had the best Thai food, not just in Milwaukee, but in the entire country. It doesnt live up to that hype-- I'm not sure it's even the best in Milwaukee, but it was solidly good. I got beef Satay and chicken Paid Thai, medium spice. I would definitely get both again. The beef was tender and full of flavor even without the sauce. The pad Thai was slightly dry and not overtly strong flavored, but far from bland. I believe the ratio of chicken to noodles was appropriate. The location is downtown and parking can be an issue, I went in the evening when street parking is free if you can find it. The decor is cool-- you can tell it's an older building that's been updated. They kept some of the vintage charm without being too run down or dated. I'll be back but I'm also going to give other Thai places in Milwaukee a try.
Awesome food. Nice decor. Cloth tablecloths and napkins! The food is excellent. Highly recommend the Tom kai ga. And the cashew chicken.
We have been going here for years now. We come into town once a year just for bead and button and make this a have to spot for dinner. The food is absolutely amazing I always order the volcano chicken or pad thai those are my favorite.
Good food. But crowded even on weekday.
Went here because it was walking distance from my hotel. Ehh. Not the worst definitely not the best. Kinda pricey for the portion.
Awesome food. Very tasty and great for leftovers if you didn't finish
Chicken sautee and Volcano chicken are stellar. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Staff are friendly and personable.
Good food, really nice service. The portions are decent too.
Soup cold. Curries tasteless. Waste of money.
Not a review to the quality of the food since I never received my order. Placed an order on doordash and the driver called me to say she was at the restaurant and they didn't understand what she was asking for. Ended up having to cancel the order. Just some advice, if you want to order from here maybe don't do it online.
Bar area is nice. Food is good. Setting is meh
Great flavor, excellent ambience. Service was a tad slow.
I had the Volcano Chicken. Very tasty
The restaurant is not what we expected. Our waitress did not even offer us drinks. We started with crab rangoons and the thai beef jerky. The crab rangoons were mostly fried bread and barely had any filling. The beef jerky was so dry that we had to drown it with the sauce provided. Next the entrees. We had the Massaman curry and the Bangkok connections. The flavor of the curry was good, but could have been spicier...the menu said the server would ask for how spicy, but we never were asked. The meat in both entrees were sooooooo dry it was hard to eat. Basically we ended up eating 2 bites and left. We weren't even offered boxes, even though we wouldn't have taken them. Would not recommend.
It was very nice Nd the food was really good
Good food, good efficient service. Very calm laid-back atmosphere.
Great ambiance. Authentic Thai food in Milwaukee.
Delicious food, very nice staff. Thai style atmosphere.
The food was absolutely fantastic! Staff was very professional, the dining room was clean, service was quick. I had no complaints at all start to finish. I will definitely be coming back here again.
The tom kai gai soup was not spicy enough, the spring rolls were deep fried and the red curry was much too sweet. I was dining alone (long story) and in the whole vast empty dining room, they sat me at the "single top" right next to a couple in a booth gushing about how much they liked spicy food and how fat one of her friends is...Oh, and prices for entrees are too high -- even with the fancy cloth napkins.
Great food Awesome decor Though the service was a little slow
King and I, Fake Thai. 16.95 for mixed vegetables, I asked for ALL the vegetables in the kitchen and I got broccoli, cabbage and carrots with two or three slices of green onions and one or two pea pods. No mushroom, No basil, No green bean, No cauliflower, No red bell pepper, No Ginger, No spice No spinach and No Flavor?
Wow. The volcano chicken was amazing. The Thai beef jerky even better.
Amazing service and the native Thai was fantastic with flavor and heat. I love love love heat with amazing flavor! I go back over and over and still blown away with everything I try. The crab rangoons were amazing! Thank you!
Went to pick up a door dash order for a customer was told it would be a few minutes. For two items. I’m waiting 23 minutes now. I Received a notification before I even arrived that the order was complete and ready to pick up. I watched Four waitresses in the back just sit there I watched the hostess stand in the back and talk and the only people that seem to pay any attention to me were the two people at the bar who were very kind they get the one star The rest gets zero stars I will not be back for any DoorDash orders I do not recommend going through DoorDash for this restaurant
We ordered the Volcano chicken and it is really an explosion of flavor. The Panang curry is light, creamy and delicious. The server is attentive and friendly. This is our go to Thai restaurant in downtown Milwaukee.
We've been here a million times, but last time the service was SO SLOW. Food was good though.
Lousy freaking service, not that great food! I've had a thousand times better Thai food, so this was a great disappointment! The atmosphere may be nice but I did not enjoy eating here! Please improve! This place is pathetic!
Bad service. Food just ok. Would probably not come back.
Fried Red Snapper was outrageously good. We went with a party of 10 and we all shared dishes, including 4 different appetizers. No one left hungry and everyone devoured their meals. Absolute 10 out of 5 stars. Incredible. Thank you!
A quite good place to have lunch in when it's snowing downtown Milwaukee!
Having read reviews from bad to good, my family decided the best way to find out if this restaurant is any good is to dine there. We were not disappointed. The staff was friendly, polite, professional, and attentive. The food was excellent. I started with Won Ton soup (I know, but I make it a point to try it where ever I find it being offered). While I thoroughly enjoyed it, my 18 year old son stated it was the best he has ever had. My main dish was simply The King and I Fried rice. It was very good but not a dish I would ever rate as great anywhere. It was fried rice after all. My son ordered a green curry chicken dish with white rice. Again, he thought it excellent and he has dined in many countries. My wife ordered the same as I did and we now have leftovers. We know who will devour it tomorrow.
Food is beautiful here service was a bit slow but they where packed when got here but my love for amazing thai win over the wait waitress alli is super nice lady
I absolutely love the food here! It is incredible, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Unfortunately, their wait times have been incredibly long. On my most recent visit we were seated immediately, and our orders were taken in a timely manner. I ended up waiting a bit over an hour for my food, but my friends waited nearly two hours for theirs! It was impossible to get anyone's attention to ask about the wait. After we finished we waited another half hour or so to get the check. All in all we spend about 2 and a half hours at the restaurant, most of which was waiting. We paid in cash and decided left overs weren't worth waiting another 30 mins to get a box for. I will definitely go back, but I will probably order take out next time.
The King and I is a handy downtown location Thai food place with solid food choices and quality. The atmosphere is where I deducted the one star. The menu has your Thai favorites and they are not shy with the spice if you ask for level 3+. Enjoy!
This is the best place to get Thai food and the only place I will come for Thai.
They took 2 hours to servr us. But the food was worth it. Delicious.
Food great as always....but service stinks..slow....or it would had been a 5 star rating
Good food and service. Interesting decor. My only issue was it was quite pricey compared to any other Thai restaurants I have been to.
Never ate in store before but ordered online. Love their pad thai and pad see sew and wings.
Good food. Service a little slow.
Always spectacular volcano chicken! Another great meal!
Dear King & I Thai, You had me at spicy level 1 being called “Coward” on the menu. Love, Cautious
Service is not good. Only one serving to all guests.
The food is delicious and service was quick!
This was delish!!! Great food good service great atmosphere.
