My husband and I drive an hour to get here but we really enjoy the sushi and hibachi. Staff is so friendly. We usually end our visit with a gift from the waitstaff of origami. Can't wait to return everyone we leave.

We had the buffet about 45 minutes prior to close.. the food was surprisingly good, great variety. I do hope that they have a system to save and/or donate the leftover food though - there was SO much left at closing.. including an entire tray of whole crabs.

Well, I tried this place about a year and a half ago, and wasn't very impressed. There was nothing I found to eat that was even average. The sushi was probably the best thing I had, and even store bought from Woodman's or Metcalfe's is better. Regardless, I gave them 3 stars because there was a big variety and the price was very low. I also said I would give them another shot at some point because there were many things I didn't try. Well, since it took me almost a year and a half to do this, you can tell that I wasn't that eager to return. I finally did in the recent past. It was basically the same experience. The host and waitress were nice, so I think they are trying to up their game. But the food was just, overall, about a 1.5 or 2 at most. Again, it seemed the sushi was the best solid food item (2.5), but it was still not as good as the store bought I sometimes buy. The hot and sour soup was much better than last time, but still about average (3 compared with about 1.5 before). I probably enjoyed the hot and sour soup more than anything else, but I need more than just that. Of special note were the fried "scallops". I love scallops, but I don't even believe that these were real scallops. They definitely were out of a food service bag, and whatever food service company provides them should be run out of business. I swear, I would rather eat school cafeteria fish sticks than those things. Thankfully I only took 2 because after taking a bite of the first one, I didn't want to finish it. I tried to finish it, and actually almost had to run to the bathroom to vomit because it just didn't taste or feel right. I managed to cope and ditched the other one under a napkin. I really don't see how anybody could like the food here. Sure there is a lot and it's cheap, but I really couldn't enjoy eating most of it on both of my visits. I wish I could say great things about this place and frequent it, but the food is so bad that I can't. I still wanted to give them 3 stars, but after thinking about it for a couple days, I have to settle with a 2 because I don't ever plan on returning regardless of who's buying!

Great food ..little pricy but all you can eat. I dd not like the fact that we couldn't take our leftovers home. We had to leave a lot of food behind. They wanted us to pay $5 for a take-home box which I thought was unfair, because we were paying for our leftovers in original meal and should have been able to take them home instead of throwing them away.

Large selection of Chinese food. I tried bean pies for the first time and loved them. I had the purple or lavender colored one. Also tried the white one. Salmon was nicely seasoned and cooked well. I didn't care too much for their crab rangoons, which is one of my favorite things to eat. I will return to this place soon.

I was there on a Tuesday night. Staff was friendly, food options were numerous, but almost all of the hot food was barely warm and some of it looked like it had been sitting out a very long time ( stuffed mushrooms, deep-fried shrimp, steamed crab). Some of the hand rolls looked fresh, while other things looked/tasted like they’d been sitting out better part of the day. The seasoned green beans looked very strange, with some very green/fresh looking and the rest of them (mixed into the same pan) looking very old and brown. If you’re looking for an inexpensive dinner, a lot of food and you have mid to low expectations, this place would work fine for you, but I recommend spending $5-8 more dollars per dinner and going to one of the excellent sushi restaurants in the Madison area. Glad I tried it but I would not go back, nor would I recommend it.

This is such a great place to eat out rather it's with family, friends, or in a relationship. I would totally recommend! The fried chicken wings, fried rice, crabs, sushi, Etc are awesome! Love this place! I would come here 3 times a month. Its amazing! The staffs are polite and kind!

Always love going to Madison and eating here. Such a wide selection of foods with many seafood dishes plus an entire row of sushi selections makes it hard to decide what to try first. Buffet tables are kept well stocked and everything is served as it should be, the cold are cold and the hots have always been hot when I have been there. The staff are wonderful as well, keeping your tables cleared, drinks refilled, yet they are never in your way. Love the little origami pieces they give to customers as well. Highly recommend trying this place out.

The made-to-order station is the highlight of this establishment. The food had been hit or miss at the buffet, some are fantastic, like the skewered meats and others are left to be desired such as their sushi. The biggest disappointment has been witnessing and intervening on the last two visits, customers taking their dirty plates back to the buffet line! One time there were staff RIGHT THERE and didn't even bother to stop them! I'd rather not take the risk next time.

They will stand nearby your table and just stare at you and your family eating.....um....weird... i need a refill...wheres my refill... do your job right...and please give us some privacy while we are having a family time gathering while eating....... food is ok...but really big groups they are starting to charge $10 more per person....? What? Or is it tipping fee... im not that sure but its messed up, not worth your time eating here.

Very interesting all you can eat buffet that has a large selection of sushi, and seafood. Although buffet sushi is never really the quality of freshly made sushi, and should be eaten with caution.

I haven't been to a buffet in years and now I remember why. The sushi was either covered in mayo, filled with crab mixed with mayo or filled with cream cheese. The nigiri that they had was a sliver of fish on a big ball of rice. I guess that is what should be expected from buffet sushi. The bathroom was really gross and included a wad of wet toilet paper thrown on the ceiling YUCK! The desserts were super dry. On the up-side they had good chicken wings and lots of seafood. Very inexpensive for a buffet. I ordered a soda and my bill was $11.50 (not including tip). The service was very good.

Great variety of food. The most notable thing is the variety of sushi at the buffet. It's nice to be able to assemble your own variety plate. Service is friendly and prompt. Some foods do still suffer from sitting out for a bit, but that's expected for a buffet.

traveling in the area. due to good reviews we had to stop in. this is not your regular Chinese buffet! went at 7pm and food was still good even though it was past peak times. the crab choices were incredible!! Large stone crabs, blue crabs, stuffed crabs...all great!! also your standard buffet items. lots of basic sushi options. seaweed salad. octopus. raw oysters. flounder. calamari. many fresh fruit options. didnt disappoint. will return....maybe tomorrow, haha! $15 an adult.

Was in there for about 30 minutes. Waiter made us pay in the middle of eating, standing by our table waiting for the money. We asked if they needed open tables. They said no, but they wanted to make sure the “tickets matched up”??? that made no sense at all. We weren’t finished eating and he insisted on us paying. Tries to rush us. Not good service at all. That was such horrible experience. Not to mention most food seemed to be under temp and cold.

This Madison Chinese Buffet is very good with a lot of people The selections are not just Chinese foods. BUT Mussels with Cheese are empty all the time, so are many other items ...... So Sad .... !!! Another drawback is the servers won't take dirty utensil with dirty plate Did the owner not know about Wisconsin Statutes of Public Health ..?? ... or ... Didn't care to break the Wisconsin Health Inspection Law. ... and ....I like to know ... how hard to wash dirty utensil ...??? Chinese Buffet in Milwaukee provide you with no limited utensil you can use as much as you like ........and ....... Food taste better and cheaper too.

I was visit with my family at Dec 28, 2019. I give hard 5 star: affordable price, ALL YOU CAN EAT, clean inside, good selection of various dishes. REAL GOOD SELECTION fresh sushi, sashimi (SIC!) and rolls with real fish and seafood (I hate crab and fish imitation). Budget - $42,98 for family(two adult, two kids). Mark this places for come again in next visit to Madison.

The selection of food was great and they tried to rotate it out when it either was running out or not being eaten but I don't think the quality of the food was worth the high price tag for each person. If they had a little less selection and focused on having great quality then they would be rated better. I'll still go back and visit to see if it was better then my first visit.

First time at journey and we were blown away. The staff was super kind and they were always monitoring the food to make sure it was at its best it could be. The seafood was fresh and there was a wide range of diverse options. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good buffet. Waiter also made a dope origami animal for us. Definitely will be back.

Overall this is a good place to grab a bite of inexpensive food. The only option is the buffet and it has a reasonable selection of options. From pizza to tuna roles. The wait staff was friendly, the food was good, and the restaurant was clean. Overall I recommend it. Do be aware, this is an inexpensive buffet, they don't have amazing food, they simply have plenty of good food. I didn't have a bite I didn't like but it is not going to be something I rave about to my friends. Give it a try and see for yourself.

Wide selection of food, went when it was busy so food was hot. The sushi was warm so not sure how I will feel later! Most of the dishes we had were just ok. Good flavor but the quality of the chicken in some of the chicken dishes was dry or nonexistent. The vegetables were undercooked but looked fresh. The atmosphere is busy, loud and a little dingy. Would I go back....not unless I had to.

And the food was delicious and they always have more food 4 u 2 pick from 4 u 2 eat then the other Chinese restaurant buffet. Food quality is not worth the price. The "sushi" is mostly artificial crab meat. They only had one single piece of salmon. No tuna. For $15 I would've been better off buying boxed sushi at the grocery. I switched the normal Asian entrees, but all were disappointing. Heavily breaded with very little meat. The lo mein was almost completely dry, and was entirely inedible. Unfortunate. We used to go to the Journey in Indy from 2009-2012, but they too dropped their quality to the lowest in town.

Horrible experience. Waiter named Jimmy kept touching and making my boyfriend feel uncomfortable. I am not sure if he had a developmental issue, but with another customer, he would have gotten yelled at. Please please teach him that he cant touch people without asking first. The waiter also went up to his check to see how much he was tipped and did not wait until after we left. Because of the poor customer service, uncleanliness, poor quality food, this place deserves no stars at all.

Love this place! I have Celiac disease (require gluten free), and this is the only Chinese buffet I've found where I can eat without getting sick. They use gluten free soy sauce in their recipes, so as long as I'm careful about what I get, I can eat more or less like a normal person.

Freshness was 7/10 for dishes setting, sushi selection was 9/10, quite a large array compared to most chinese buffets across country. Price is medium on the scale. Cleaniness is 8/10.. staff were friendly. It gets a 5 star as far as chinese buffets go. Only 2 other buffets i've visited out of dozens would receive this, one in pennsylvania and one in maryland.

Great variety of food to choose from and something for everyone, including American and sushi. The wait staff is friendly and make you feel like family and/or valued customers. It's buffet style, food is hot and kept full and fresh. Drinks are refilled. Plates are cleared from table quickly. It is a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it. Go hungry, but try not to eat too much (or eat there for lunch and plan on not eating an evening meal)! ;)

The hype was worth the effort... Last year a friend told us about this place quote, " Amazing, best buffet ever, great variety, and something for everyone!" So yeah... we have been wanting to check it out for ourselves ever since. We finally had our chance today and I have to say it was worth the wait. The outside of the restaurant was average for the area. It's a restaurant outside the big box store Target. It seemed very unassuming. The inside was clean and well staffed with a lot of steam tables. The staff was very friendly and did a great job checking, rotating, and replacing the food as needed. The place was packed at 12:30 on a Saturday but didn't feel overcrowded and there was no wait. All the food was very fresh and yes the variety was amazing! Lots of sushi! The hibachi grill was a nice addition. We tried to sample as much as possible by getting just one bite of everything but we didn't even try half of what was available! Didn't have the space in our stomachs. The prices are definitely fair at $27 for 2 adults with beverages on a Saturday lunch. Being close to East Town Mall, Brewflix, and Animart we will definitely be back and will pay it forward...

Me and my two daughters came in for dinner on a Friday night. We normally love this place but as we was seated and got our first plates we noticed it was extremely hot and when we asked to move we was told it's hot everywhere the ac was broken. We sat for a minute disnt get through our first plate when I couldn't breath cause I have asthma and when we left and told them there was no reminisce and I still had to pay a 55.00 dollar bill

Nice buffet - love coming here for lunch with coworkers. The price is extremely reasonable, and you get so much food! Lots of seating, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Sometimes some of the sushi can sit for a little bit (which isn't the greatest for the deep fried rolls) but that is the nature of buffets. We try and come here early when it opens so we get the freshest food possible and you are in and out super quick. Nice place!

It pains me to rate this place so poorly. I remember when it first opened; it was fricking awesome! The selection used to be varied and all very flavorful, not any longer. There were stacks of dirty plates intermixed with the clean plates at the buffet. I went through 12 dirty plates before I found a clean one in one stack, YUCK! There were multiple stacks of dirty plates at multiple steam tables. Some of the steam table items were so packed full that the food at the top was cold. I probably won't be back.

Today was the Hottest day of the summer so far and they didnt even have the decency to "splurge" and turn on the AC or even a fan. Everyone in the building was sweating and dying of heat exhaustion. My boys and I only stayed to eat one plate (maybe that was their intention) before we left because the heat was unbearable.
