This place used to be the best Mexican food in town. Now everything they send or is covered in greasy cheese sauce. I sent my food back after 1 bite, and my mom couldn't even eat her very odd, slimy taco salad. The service was slow and not good. No refills for water or soda, no choice offered for menu options with sauce choices. The only positive was the salsa and chips that came to the table initially. We will not be going back.

Been going here for 5+ years and loved it. Unable to visit for a year or so, but finally returned recently. Food is still good, though previously large portions now seemed a bit smaller for the combo plate. Margaritas seemed less "authentic" also. (Pre-mix perhaps?) Evidently there has been a change in management. (May account for noted differences.)

Honestly.... I'd give a zero if possible. The food was almost inedible. Then my card was charged for a meal that wasn't ours(and was more expensive). Our waitress was friendly enough but she was so overworked all tables were overlooked. To top it all off the only answer given for all this was "Well its our busiest night". My advice is dont go. Don't waste your time or money.

This is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to since moving to Wisconsin, and I've tried 5 so far. It's not overly crowded, the service is fast, the food is AMAZING and the Margaritas were great. Go easy on the Margaritas because somebody was double pouring. I'm not complaining. I ordered the #8 combo and it was the best version of that dish that I've ever had.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Eau Claire. The prices are totally fair, and their portions are relatively large. The salsa is delicious. Lots of cilantro. I could eat buckets of it. The shrimp cocktail is also excellent - way more shrimp than I would normally see in that dish. Highly, highly recommend.

South Texas person here, really critical of mexican food... but this place was not good... My first time here was a year ago and the owner was a total jerk. I was asking questions about the fajita and he told me that he's busy and if i didn't want to order then he'll just move onto the next table. I order the fajitas and it tasted like garbage.... first and last time.

I dont give many places a low rating but this place was not good. They did not have tequila, (very limited drink menu) the server took 10-15 minutes to bring drinks out. I believed this place changed ownership a little while ago as it was not the same as one of our guests remembered it from 3 years ago. There are a few other options nearby for mexican. We did not stay for the food.

There are two Mexican restaurants right across the street from one another here. This is the one to visit. Skip the other one. From the appetizers to the entrees this is hands down the best. They offer like 8 different kinds of meat and will make any combination you wish. Just amazing.

I enjoyed my meal here. Good food, service, and prices. Very mild heat- my toddler was scooping mouthfuls of the fresh and flavorful salsa straight. And the "spicy" bistec was savory and delicious, but I forgot that it was supposed to be hot until talking with friends about the meal later. I have no complaints, though, because everything tasted so good that it didn't need any burn.

Food is good. Portions could be better on sides, like rice and beans. Customer Service definitely lacks. Young and inexperienced staff who need to be trained on some very basic skills. Owner was out on maternity leave and left the waitresses in charge.. Spent 50$ on take out and they forgot chips that came with and the additional chips I paid for with my guacamole.. They claim they make the guacamole fresh to order. If fresh means prepped, then I guess... Not the first time that happened. I called to see what could be done and the girl was absolutely clueless. I guess when the owners away the kids will play. Too bad, great food but not worth getting ripped off.

This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Eau Claire, period. Having grown up in Texas, I was skeptical of "Mexican" food in Wisconsin. I was fortunate to find this place soon after moving to the area. This is the real deal. Barbacoa as it was meant to be.

This place is the real deal. Authentic Mexican food with EXCELLENT customer service. I love their menu but listen to this. I lived in Guatalajara for three months when I was just out of High School. The Chef was willing to re-create my favorite dish that wasn't on the menu (I live in Miami as well and can't find this dish anywhere). It was as good as everything else on the menu. LOVE their extra hot salsa. And the beer selection is on point. I am not a big fan of food in this city but I always look forward to a meal from Tacos Juanita.

I was quite happy with this place. The food was better than i thought it would be for a cheesy little strip mall Mexican joint. The breakfast menu looked really good. The best part was that the strip mall also has TWO dance studios. One is dancing for Jesus and i presume the other is pagan. If you're lucky enough to get a window seat you'll be entertained by a full "west side story" dance off/knife fight. Those christian dancers are scrappy and they fight dirty!

I came here with a small group, because we had a coupon for free queso dip and I had heard good things about the establishment. The queso and chips were very good and the service speed was quick, but that's about all for the positives. The entrees themselves had very dry meat, and little flavor overall. Additionally, the red sauce tasted so bad that those of us who had gotten it on our food ended up scraping it off. Lastly, When we got our bills, they tried to charge us for the queso even though we had given them our coupon. Overall, it just a very underwhelming and disappointing experience.

I've heard a lot of good things about Tacos Juanita and it's been in town for a while so I decided to try it. The service was good, although very slow compared to other Mexican restaurants in town. Chips and salsa was ok. Cheese dip was very good. The meals were not good. All the meat was dry and pretty flavorless. Thank God the service was good and I had enough fluids to get the food. Now for my annoyance. We ordered multiple orders of just rice as a side dish which is $2 on the menu. When the bill came, we were charged $3 for "rice and beans" with no rice for each of our rices. It's only a dollar per order but it was off putting. Won't be going back and I'll stick with Cancun, Azul, and others in town.

And the food....AWESOME! They serve chips and salsa when you sit down and the salsa tastes so fresh. Brought back memories of my Aunt Carolines home made salsa! Let me start off by saying this was our favorite restaurant in all of Eau claire. We went here pretty regularly. On Monday July 1st around 7:10pm we went here after a movie. We ordered our food and drinks. When the guy came out with the drinks he split a bit of the drinks because he was caring four in his two hands and didn’t clean it up. He went into the kitchen and came back out. We realized we were short on utensils, so we mentioned it to him. He grabbed some utensils from a table next to us, and we thanked him. When my boyfriend unrolled the napkin from the utensils he noticed there was blood on the napkin and it wasn’t just one tiny spot. He looked all over his hands and arms and didn’t have any cuts. I then noticed where the waiter set the utensils down originally there was a small line/pile of blood, so it had to be relatively fresh since it had transferred from the table. We had decided to leave since we did not know who this came from and if said person would be handling our food. We mentioned the blood to the waiter and had asked if he would like us to pay for our drinks and he said no and that he can move us to a different table which we just declined and told him we were going to go. I understand incident happen but we were uneasy not knowing if the injured person would be handling our food. Like i mentioned prior, besides usually understaffed or a little slow, the food here is very good. And it was our favorite spot.

Authentic taste, friendly staff. The tacos are made many ways- my favorite is the California style- and are reasonably priced so that you can buy more than just one (which your stomach will thank you for). I usually grab a margarita first thing and coupled with the cilantro-heavy salsa with chips, I am in heaven even before my food arrives. Would recommend to anyone wanting a true Mexican flavor experience.
