4.5 starts I was expecting good sushi but I was wrong. I tried spicy tuna, spicy salmon, wild roll, Bento large box with salmon. I wasn't impressed! Box salmon tasted frozen not fresh... price are high for the quality of the food.

BEST DAMN SUSHI IN RACINE, KENOSHA, AND LAKE COUNTIES. Awesomely delicious and fresh. Also don't get freaked out if Soon answers the phone and just says hello, if you dialied their number you know you got the right place. Also I recommend having your rolls cut into 8 pieces rather than Soon's customary 6 pieces. You order, ORDER NOW!!!

The atmosphere was cozy and homey. When we went, the sushi bar was closed for the evening. We intended on leaving, but the owner of the place opened it back up just for us. It was incredibly sweet. She also checked on us a lot and boxed out leftovers up for us. She was very motherly. I had the Godzilla roll, but found it a bit saucier than I like. The service was well worth the visit.

Very friendly owner. We ordered bulgogi beef, katsudon, and some sushi rolls. I think the food could use more attentions to it. For example, the batter of the katsu cutlet does not stick to the meat, so it’s separated. The pork did not get softening treatment (like ponding) so it was kind of firm. The bulgogi beef was just a stir fry with gochujang, so it was different from what I had before. All in all it wasn’t a bad experience, but I definitely think there are room for improvements!

Today was the first time I've been there. My sister and her husband treated us to a great experience! If you have never tried sushi or shashimi and are looking to try it, this is the place to go. If you a regular sushi and shashimi fan this will be right up your alley! They also have a great selection of Japanese and Korean food on the menu. The place has been around for 15 years and is a well kept secret. I will be back again!

Soon’s is historic to Kenosha. It was the first sushi restaurant and still around. I love spicy tuna hand roll, squid salad, seaweed salad. Even house salad dressing is so good, probably the best dressing I’ve ever had.

Sashimi was served in big chunk sizes, what were they thinking? Americanized? Super size my sashimi? Tempura udon comes with one shrimp? Soup base was tasteless, even worse than instant ramen noodles. Sushi was just subpar. Having said that, if you live in Kenosha, there isn't one decent sushi place to go to. Honada is not any better. Milwaukee or Illinois is the way to go if you are serious about sushi/Japanese/Korean dishes.

Good food and always good service. I like sushi and this food is prepared in the dining area behind a glass shield. Soon's is a small restaurant where you pick your order from a check list. If you don't know what is on the list just ask for an explanation. I always have a tendency to order too much.

I'm sad. I spent most of my life living far away from Soons so I never knew what I was missing. Now I know. I've been eating here for years and always got the same things. Recently, I branched out and ordered something from an old menu. I was told they don't make it anymore and that a Shrimp Love roll would be the closest thing. I LOVE the Shrimp Love roll

Went there with a group of three. Two of us ordered hot dishes, the third ordered sushi. Apparently there absolutely ZERO understanding of how to prioritize portions of an order so EVERYTHING can come out at once. The two hot dishes came out at the same time, and in a reasonable amount of time, even with the place being a bit busy. 35 minutes later, after the other food was very cold, the sushi had still not arrived. What sort of nonsense is that? When talking to the "waitress" about it, her response was to act in a manner I'm probably not allowed to describe accurately on here, but essentially she was EXCEPTIONALLY unprofessional. Needless to say, I have zero desire to ever return.

I have not yet tried anything here besides Soon's amazing sushi. My 4 kids and I will order maybe 5 or 6 rolls, and it comes on a nice round tray, and we eat it over a movie at my house. Very nicely priced and we don't get sushi from anywhere else. Love this place!

I've had sushi around the world and can say that you have to go to Japan to get anything AS good, regardless of better. If you come for dinner, expect to wait for your food, but it is worth it. Not the fastest, but the best. Say hi to Bob and give Soon a hig if she's not too busy.

I love coming to Soon's! At first we were unsure since it's a tiny little corner place, but now we're in love. Ever since we moved to Racine, we have made sure to come here regularly even though it's a bit of a drive for us. All of our friends recommended it! Their sushi is excellent, but we come for the bibimbap. The staff is always super nice and attentive.

This is the Korean equivalent of a comfort food, mom and pop kitchen. No frills, decent selection of sushi rolls, Korean fare and specialty beverages (sake, beer, some liquor). The Korean beef bulgogi was flavorful and served sizzling hot ala fajita flatiron you find at Mexican places. Server was prompt, attentive and friendly.

(See update below) Voted Milwaukee's best sushi restaurant every year for the past nine (I think) years! And it's nearly 40 miles from Milwaukee. Soon's is the "go to" place for sushi in Kenosha. Slow service, frequently, but GREAT FOOD that's worth the wait. (Order the sushi; not off the other menu.) UPDATE: Soon's suffered a kitchen fire in the spring of 2019, but I've read that Bob and Soon plan on making the needed repairs and reopening. I certainly hope they DO reopen!

Looked at their menu and ordered ahead. I ordered what I thought was spicy tuna rolls ($6) and veggie fried rice ($6) as stated on their menu. I got there and my bill was $18 for a pick up order. Didn’t fuse just picked up and went home. As soon as I opened the fried rice I was completely disappointed. It’s literally 5 minute ready to go white rice and corn. No seasonings or sauce literally white rice and corn fried in oil. My tuna rolls look and taste awful. It’s like a pink paste pumped into a roll. I get tuna rolls all the time and have never seen it in paste form always fresh. I never leave 1 stars for any type of restaurant but wow. This is a huge disappointment especially for $18. I pay $15 for the same meal in VERNON HILLS and the quality is 200x better.

Soon's has some of my favorite specialty sushi roll, godzilla roll. The entire thing is so well put together! We have tried other things like chicken teriyaki and bulgogi and honestly I Will just stick with the sushi menu. I also love the portion you get, it's enough and very filling! I will definitely miss the Godzilla roll when I move out of Kenosha!

Tried this place in Kenosha quite a few times now and it is pretty good. The Korean Bibimban rice dish served in a very hot bowl. It has sauteed seasonal vegetables, and either chicken or beef with a hot sauce on the side. There is little fried egg in it also. Very good. We always also order some different sushi, and the last we had is a keeper, so good. It was like a shrimp tempura sushi and was terrific. We also always get the usual California roll and one other to try. All are great.

It's the only place I will buy sushi from. I've never eaten in, because I'm not fond of the location. Their food is amazing and at an average price. I usually just carry out and they know me as a regular! I recommend the nude roll and the Wisconsin roll. They are my two favorites.

Best sushi I have ever had, any place in USA, period. You pay similar price as any other sushi joint, but the diameter of the rolls is huge. You get a LOT of food for the money, and it is fresh and of good quality. My favorites are the Burning Fire Roll, Dragon Roll, and and Volcano Roll. Or to save money, just get plain old Spicy Tuna/Salmon/Crab. It is just as delicious. Hand rolls and sashimi are also well prepared and presented. Man Doo soup is a bargain at $3.50 for a very large bowl with several dumplings in. I live in Milwaukee, so it is a bit of a drive, but it is worth it. Better than any place here in the city, by far.

Everyone told us to forget the tacky decorations, neighborhood and atmosphere - that we would love it! Wrong! It was awful. From the moment our party of four walked in we felt like we were in the Twilight Zone. We felt literally invisible, especially when a party of 6 walked in 20min late for their "reservation." We got to the restaurant at 715, didn't get seated until 830 and didn't leave until almost 10pm. No one said a word to us until a table opened up and they cleaned it. It took 20min to order our drinks - meanwhile our waitress cleaned three tables and served two. She was terrible - didn't know what a cabernet was or that it was even on the menu and when she brought us our sushi she couldn't even tell us what was what. She didn't return to the table the rest of the night except to bring us our bill. The sushi was so so... Nothing amazing, definitely not worth the money we paid. When we went to leave the old man had lost our ticket and asked us how much our bill was before finding the ticket in a pile of papers and running our card. He then proceeded to check out two walk-in orders before even handing our receipt and card back. We won't be back.

Um...no. I ate here once, about 10 years ago and it was horrible. But... I've continued to hear people talk about it being good, so I finally went back today. Um...no. I got a simple Chirashi Bowl and Grilled Squid app. First, the Grilled Squid was served with a bowl of spicy mayo. I've never seen that before. Just spicy mayo...to dip...? Ok..... Then the Chirashi arrived. Chirashi is a very simple dish of what should be their top grade sashimi, over rice. Whole it arrived in a cute little box, the fish itself varied from boring to tasteless, to "tastes of bleach." Really, only the Salmon was decent. I don't understand fish that doesn't taste like anything at all, and I really don't like bleached fish. Between the two dishes, I have to soak it all in so much soy sauce, that I think my tongue is now pickled for life. I truly don't understand the great reviews. I travel for a living, so maybe I've just eaten too much sushi and my standards are higher. Um...no.

I have gone there numerous times in the past. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The atmosphere and the decor sadly leave a lot to be desired. I welcome change on a menu in a restaurant but if I'm not mistaken the the menu has changed at least twice this year, unfortunately for the worse. This visit was quite disappointing. It was the second time bringing my friend there and I have to confess that each time I walk in there it makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen judging by the surroundings in the dining room . After ordering cocktails and appetizers upon arrival all of the sushi rolls seem to look exactly alike. Ugh...The row and crab toppings that apparently used in one way or another was on each sushi roll (out of "6 rolls") was super salty and ruined the experience, nonsense. I made mention of it to the server as well as Soon's husband and there was no discount or option to redo the rolls.

Great sushi and great staff! Soon is wonderful! She told us what to eat first because some of the other rolls we could take home if we couldn't eat it all. Our waiter was very attentive! The sashimi and sushi are in generous portions! The ginger and wasabi were piled high. The miso soup is the best I have ever had. The broth was very flavorful and the seaweed was a great addition! I don't like tofu but I liked theirs! I recommend anything with ethe el, the smoked salmon sashimi, and the Kenosha roll. My boyfriend liked the saki and the spicy tuna roll the best. The spicy tuna roll was spicier than other other places. We are sure to make this place a regular stop! 6/29/19 I am looking forward to Soon's coming back. We miss our weekly sushi fix and seeing the wonderful owners!

Who would think that in the middle of a quiet neighborhood in Kenosha, you would have sushi that as good as any you can find in Chicago. Big slabs of the freshest fish, perfect rice, creative rolls. It is also a bargain. We go 40 minutes to eat there whenever we can. The decor is not too impressive but who cares.

I am a celiac but the waitress was able to help me. They do not have gluten free soy sauce but I brought my own. No shame.It is a small place and some of the staff don't speak English fluently but that was part of the charm and I appreciated Soon's more. Some of the reviews I read docked 2 stars for the atmosphere. If you want awesome sushi and more high class comfort - get it to go.

Usually service isn't bad and the food is good, but this time we waited 40 minutes from getting Edamanes until we received our dinner, which was more on the warm/cool side then the warm/hot side. Then another table got our appetizer, so we didn't get that until half way through our meal. They did give us 20% off our meal, but it was mine and my wife's "date night", which we don't get much, and we had timed plans afterwards, so we were rushing to eat to make it to the next place because it took so long to get our food. Usually they get 4 stars, this time it's 3....

I've been coming here for years. Fantastic sushi, with a cool, homey, casual environment. Reminds me of little shops off of side streets in Tokyo. Soons excels at sushi and Korean dishes. However, if you expect your meal fast.. Well, just don't. Good things will come to those who wait. Pass the time practicing your Japanese with Soon, as she is quite fluent in Japanese and English (Korean as well, I imagine).

Soon's is the BEST Sushi joint EVER!!! If you are looking for atmosphere, you will not find it here. But if you want EXCELLENT fresh generously portioned Sushi, friendly staff and owners...this is where you want to be!!! I usually get the regular sashimi and Squid salad (always ask for the fish egg garnish.....AMAZING!!!!). My husband usually gets a couple rolls and squid salad. Soon and her husband Bob always go to the tables to welcome you and make sure your visit is a good experience. If it's your birthday...make sure you make it known. Soon makes a homemade fish cake. Not what you expect with s name like "fish cake"... it is masterfully made by Soon for her birthday guests and is absolutely delicious!!!! If you don't like sushi... they have other non-cash choices. :-) Make sure you check this place out...you won't regret it!!

I've been coming here for 6+ years, the sushi is always fantastic, service is always excellent, and Soon is such a sweetheart. Since moving to Milwaukee none of the other sushi restaurants I've been to up there compare. Well worth the ~45 minute drive to visit my mom and go have sushi together.

Great atmoshphere! The service is great! The owner comes Soon comes around and asks all the customers how is everything. My husband took me here for our Anniversary. The sushi is phenom and is hearty not skimpy at all. Best sushi I have ever had!

Fantastically priced sushi bar and Korean restaurant. Quality of food is top notch, but sushi varies by preparer in my experience. Soon is by far the best of all the employees in preparing Sushi--you're in for an amazing dining experience if she's behind the counter that day. Avoid the lunch and business rush and go for immediately aftter opening or around 7 pm for dinner. Bottom line: Best sushi I've ever had in North America; far better than any fare I encountered in San Francisco!

The place is small and not in the best neighborhood but it's not bad, right off a busy street. The food is delicious and the servers are real nice. It's a small family owned business and the food definitely speaks for itself. There's a lot of different rolls, as well as the traditional ones. It can get expensive but that's only if you get more than one special roll with alcohol. (It is fresh sushi after all) They have a few lunch specials to keep the price down too. If sushi's not your thing no worries; they have a good kitchen menu, filled with Japanese and Korean cuisine.

I've only had take out from Soon's but OMG their sushi is delicious! I usually order the shrimp tempura or California roll. Their eel sauce is really good too :p
