Best in Madison! Dolsot Bimibop

Hannah Murray

Great food for decent price!

Carmen Schwierking

The owner is nice and trying his best. Sometimes the quality of food varies and I don't recommend the bokum, but everything else is great. Love the kimbap!

Lana Gilmore

Their omurice is incredible!

Thomas Yen

Best Beef Tendon soup around.

Steven Whelan

Patrick Jones

Good food, but poor service

Andy Tan

Nancy Burnett

The food here is great!

Robert Bessolo

Food was delicious n price right

Juan Pablo Torres Meza

If I could give a negative review I would. First off, the owner has an attitude. Second and probably more important, he can’t take an order. I didn’t get what I asked for, and the food was quite nasty to say the least. I can think of better ways to use my money. Don’t waste your money here.

Julian Westerlund

I LOVE NEW SEOUL FAMILY RESTAURANT!!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! I ALSO LOVE THE OWNERS SON AND HIS LARGE DONGER!!! HE IS HAWT! I LOVE THE BEEF BOKUM!

Tenzin D

The food was delicious as ever, owner very customer oriented, called from home and foods were ready by the time we get there! Price is also good!

Stefan Wahe

Families Through Korean Adoption had an event today to celebrate Korean culture. We decided to stop at Ne Seoul to grab some traditional dishes. The food was fresh and flavorful and the service was excellent.

Nathan Kuenzi

We have been eating here since before they moved out to the west side—their University Avenue location used to be close to our apartment. We still make a trip out just to visit this restaurant once very two months or so. The food is excellent and it is one of the best Korean restaurants in Madison. The staff are also, to the individual, all wonderful people.

Robert Westcott

Loved the kimbap and kimchi once we were seated and got our order. Plentiful portions at a nice price. However, we waited for nearly an hour between entering and receiving our food. Worth the wait, but don’t expect to get in and out for dinner, even on a weeknight.

Dolma Lhamo

Horrible service! I went there one time (the last time) with my friend and as soon as we got in, the owner rolled his eyes and seemed so disinterested in serving. The food was worse than mall food and it was cold. Yea, I will never go there again.

Nick Puleo

Awesome food reasonably priced!

James Murphy

wei wang

My cooking is much better than the food here. Bad service.

Rongjie Lu

So since kimbap is my go to comfort foods, New Seoul is the only korean restaurant I like since they're the only K restuarant that has Kimbap in Madison that I'm aware of. I love their mild soondubu and soups in general and the restaurant owner has always treated me and my friends well. Also has some of the best home made kimchi and are generous with their side dishes

Dirk Racine

Very tasty meals, good service and ginger tea was excellent

Wanda Tetlan

Pat Patterson

Very delicious.

Jared Baum

Hidden Korean gem in the midwest. I eat it weekly and likely won't stop anytime soon. It's a small joint and pretty crowded, so what I do and recommend is ordering carryout.

Joshua Yoo

After multiple tries, I must say the food is great and the price is right, except the service can vary between exemplary to lack luster. Be prepared to receive some snarky condescending remarks from the male owner if you don't tip greater than or equal to 15% regardless of how poor his service was.

Bumblefoo Bar

Good food, pathetic service. The waiter is not proficient with English, and messed up a straightforward order for me and my wife(Beef Bokum lunch special and Jambong noodle soup). The waiter somehow mistook our order into one serving of Beef Bokum with noodles added. Once he served it and we informed him again our original order, the restaurant re-did our order correctly. During the wait of the correct order, the waiter tried, multiple times, to explain that I was fully at fault for messing up the order. Although I left a good tip for the poor man to show that I forgive him, I sure won't be coming back.

Matthew Prah

This restaurant is great. The food is wonderful amd the owner is super nice. I highly recommend the Beef Bulgogi and the Chopchae Bop.

Kristy Jorgensen

Best Korean food in Madison, hands down. I spent several months in South Korea, and this is as close to authentic as you can get (although it is slightly Americanized for tastes here). Simple fare, but they are more than accommodating in changes to the spice level. Efficient, friendly service!

Tanya Cutsforth

Wonderful service and delicious food.

Lyle Hilfiker

Went for lunch, food came out slowly. I got my meal 10 min after my mom got hers. She was almost done by the time i started mine. Mediocre service and the food was okay. Korean restaurant on the square is much better.

Justin Hughey

Good flavors for a good price. I enjoy it as a lunch destination when I'm craving something spicy.

Lauren Glover

Good Korean food but the service is pretty variable.

James Carnley

Very good. BBQ short ribs are pricey but very worth it.

Lifan Yu

Tasty and fast.

naddy naddy

One of the worst experience regarding the food. K-peepers in middleton was first korean restaurant I tried and it was an awesome experience, With the same expectations I visited New Seoul but I left restaurant with very bad experience. The food was really bad, food is served from refrigerator directly and in return owner of the resturant was expecting tip and he was demanding for the tip. Please vist K peppers which is 2 miles away from this restaurant, where you can experience good service and tasty Korean food.

Eric Miller

Get the Galbi! Get the Galbi! Get the Galbi!

rebecca gamroth

Good food very tasty KIMCHI EXCELLENT PORTINS great service competitive prices.

Brad Allen

Excellent food. Rock cooker is filling

Nathaniel Taft

A great family-friendly place we have visited for years

Shawn Nangle

I've only been here twice. The first was take out and the food is great. The second, however, was a birthday dinner party of 5. It was pretty busy. We ordered then waited 40 - 60 mins for our food, watching other guests that arrived 5-15 minutes AFTER us get their food FIRST. I say 40-60 minutes to serve our because they brought our individual orders out one at a time with several minutes in between. Two of the orders were exactly the same order, were served last and yet a good several minutes between. There was no explanation or apology for why others were being served before us or why the scattered and delayed service of our orders. Then the owner slapped an automatic 15% tip on the bill for being a party of 5 or more!

Gene Hardy

The food is great, and not expensive. The decor is... understated. You might think it shabby, and you might say that they have more important things to spend their money on. They are very popular.

KT Howard

Fintan So

Cozy and good food.

Josh Skarvan

Got the rock cooker bibimbop and loved it

Daniel Murphy

Too expensive and five star and k peppers both better lunch shouldnt be a days salary

C. Olson

A wonderful little quaint place. Very friendly service and the food was on point. Certainly putting this on my list of favorites.

Allison Gentry

Good food!

Tyson Durham

Always great service and food. The chicken bulgogi is a mountain of delicious barbecue. I eat here twice a month or so and I can't bring myself to order anything else.

Ben O'Connor

Great Korean food, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended!

焦阳

This place is a whack . On a Saturday evening, without a single car parked in front, we were told they are booked so we cannot have seat right away. I mean this is really BS. Not sure why, but the owner seemed really hostile and impatient towards us , a six people group with kids.

Aaron Nilsen

Jordan Stilley

Since we don't have a Korean restaurant where we're from, we really enjoyed the Korean style dumplings and stir fry we got! And the take out stayed warm all the way back to our hotel.

Nathan Thomas

Delicious Korean cuisine. Best in Madison.

Nancy Orr

I love this restaurant! The food is great, the staff is great and always a good sign when one sees Koreans inside a Korean restaurant!

William Shu

Pretty quiet place. Service could be better, but only because there was just one server. Food did not take too long and was pretty authentic and good. Given there aren't many good Korean restaurants in Madison, this one certain hits the spot

Joe Silberschlag

Small cozy place. Server very friendly. Everything was delicious. Nom nom nom.

Hyuk Yu

Hot pot bibimbap (at lunch on 07/07/15) is the best I have ever tasted anywhere, including many parts of South Korea except in Jeonju.

Paul Stratman

Love the Bibambop and the marinated pork. Prompt service from a wonderful host/waiter.

Tzu-Ying Chen

Great food and reasonable price.

Emily Karch

My boyfriend and I have lived in the area for a few months and have always wanted to try New Seoul. We really loved small restaurant atmosphere and the delicious kimchi! I ordered the bibimbap with chicken. The server was wonderful and even told me how to eat the dish. The flavors of the fresh vegetables, the fried egg, and the spicy sauce went together perfectly...I am looking forward to my leftovers. The complimentary radishes, kimchi, and potatoes were a wonderfully delicious surprise!. My boyfriend had the spicy pork and loved it as well! Next time we plan to get the fried dumplings and the giant soup to share!

Jae Chong

Jon Rowe

I am lucky enough to live in walking distance from this restaurant. Authentic Korean comfort foods. The Bibimbap is to die for.

Lennie Rufinus

Went in there not expecting anything good. The food ended up being pretty good. Its just hard to know what youre ordering exactly but most items are good. Service could be better.

Victor-charles Scafati

Taylor Scott

Mediocre Korean food, but the best that Madison has to offer.

Slovenka S

Absolutely delicious! Even the leftovers the next day were beyond delicious. HIGHLY recommend it!

Dean Hoover

When I walked in one Saturday afternoon, I was the only customer in the restaurant. It made me a little nervous. I went ahead and ordered my meal, and about 10-15 minutes later I just happened to notice that most of the tables were full at that point. Excellent food, and although they don't have a large selection of appetizers, they are very good and even asked if I wanted some more. We will be back again.

Nel S

The food is always delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful!

Lue Vang

Really good!

Donavon Noggle

Best Korean food in Madison.

Michael Treiman

Ordered chopchaebop... really awful. Tasteless, bottom tier ingredients. I can't believe this is anything like what they actually eat in Korea.

B

Like Korean food? This is the spot.

Yeonjoo Sung

I love this place

Jon Augelli

Great Korean spot to grab lunch or dinner at. Service is always prompt and friendly and the food is delicious.

Galen Stielstra

Solid Korean restaurant. Possibly the only place in town you can get OB beer, a Korean lager I really enjoy (warning: OB is owned by AB InBev and made with rice, it is not for beer snobs).

Matt Shapiro

Good Korean food. Friendly service. Popular place. Not a BBQ place (ie no table grills) but the galbi that comes out of the kitchen is still really good. Probably the best in Madison!

Judy McDonald

Good food to go, but expensive for rice, soup with 2 pieces of beef ribs and a few noodles and egg drop. Oh and a 1/4 cup of cabbage and hot spice. Definitely not fast food.

Erik Arnold

I got back from south Korea about a year ago and I've been craving some real Korean food. My wife and I found New Seoul Korean Restaurant on Google and decided to make the 45 minute drive and boy was it worth it. The food is spot on authentic korean food and the decor is exactly what you might find in any restaurant walking down the streets of Dongducheon S.Korea. the bulgogi is excellent and the yaki mandu is just as I remember it!

Karl K

Very tasty and novel.

Hannah M.

Nemo Goc

I know nothing about Korean food, so I cannot speak to the authentic nature of this place, but the beef bokum is very tasty. If you go for dinner, it's a bit pricy (~$12), but the lunch special (~$8) seemed fair to me.

Ada Lai

Great Korean food!

Diane Kong

Usually love this place except for today. Keep in mind I usually tip 15% always and 20% for good service. Service is usually good but today it wasn't. First time the guy with v glasses was ever my server. We waited quite a while for our server to ask us for our order. We then waited a long time for our food. My boyfriend didn't get his food when we got ours, he had to wait another 10 minutes. I didn't feel like the server was earning of a tip. When we paid for our bill he through a huge fit and asked why we didn't tip. I explained to him that it's because we didn't get good service and this server seriously got mad and even slapped the table. Ridiculous!!! He should've apologized to me for bad service. Who the hell asks their customer for a tip? Terrible customer service tonight! Never coming here again.

Chris Olson

Awesome owner!! Great dude, funny, and easy to talk with! We asked for a substitute for tofu and he checked with the chef 3 times to make sure we did not get tofu hahah! Get the jungle dish btw they are amazing!

Eric Atkinson

Friendly service and excellent food. Try the brown sliced things!

jokers vue

We had the Beef Bulgogi with Kimchi Fried Rice!

Jerry W

We've been here multiple times and the food is always delicious. BUT... the service during our most recent visit was AWFUL. We went here for a nice meal to say goodbye to a friend whom we may not see again after we helped pack up his apartment. Packing up the apartment took longer than expected so we had to change our reservation once and we were still a few minutes late to the changed reservation. That's our fault, we planned to say sorry and give a big tip. Awkwardly though the waiter made it a point to be super rude to us for the entire meal. He never looked anyone in the eyes, he switched to a grumpy face whenever he came to our table, he let the plates hit the table hard. After the meal when other guests had left he came up to our table and scolded us for changing the reservation on a friday night, etc. while still avoiding all eye contact. It was pretty strange. We still left him a big tip, not sure we'll be back though.

Family dining in a fairly owned restaurant

Bland food that isn't anything like Korean food. I understand that it's been Americanized, but can still have some flavor.

Corinna Zennig

Decent pick if you want some Korean. I did not like the interior much but the food was good. Comes along with the typical Korean side dishes. A bibimbab was $12.

David Bruton

Rylee Butler

Great customer service and tasty foods here.

A. P

DELICIOUS!!! I don’t live in the Middleton area but at least once a week I make a trip there to get some great korean food!

Kenn Denniston

My very favorite Korean restaurant in the area for at least the last 20 years! Great service and great food, try the Beef Bulgolgi or Bibimbop!

Rich Lam

Its okay for Madison but it's by far nothing compared to any place in Chicago. 4 side dishes seems to be the normal in Madison. Which I dont understand. For the price I paid here I rather go to All You Can Eat BBQ in suburbs. Sadly this is still one of the better joints in Madison, so few stars for that. But this place would be shut down by now in Chicago or any other city with competing Korean restaurants.

Nicholas Weissenberger

Best authentic Korean in Madison.

Zheng Li

Man the beef bbq is the best in my life

Penny Huffman

Tasty foods.

Greg Thoemke

Not a fancy place by any means, but bright and clean. A lot of positives: friendly service, tasty, plentiful and authentic food, very affordable. We'll be back.

Katie Blue

This is absolutely the best place in the Madison Wisconsin area for authentic Korean food. Don't be fooled, if you have never had authentic Korean cuisine, this is the place you need to come try it!

The food here is really good!

The food was delicious and the service was nice! The starters were good portions for the group and the entrees were pretty generous portions. We got all the bulgogi and they were all perfectly marinated. Would definitely recommend it.

New Seoul Restaurant is hand's down my favorite Korean eatery. During my first visit, it wasn't love at first sight as things got off to a tentative start. Unclear if the restaurant provided table service, I ordered at the counter, paid for my meal and then colonized a table in the completely empty dining area. The cashier indicated my food would be ready in ten minutes, but I barely had time to remove my coat and get settled in when he arrived with a brown paper bag bulging with the contents of my lunch order. Sheepishly, I mentioned I wanted to dine, and without hesitation, the host immediately brought out a plate, glass of water and silverware (he must have sensed my trepidation of exposing my utter ineptitude using chopsticks). For the rest of the meal, the impeccably polite gentleman who fulfilled all of the front of house duties made sure my first experience at New Seoul was fantastic. As the dining room started to fill with lunch patrons, he continually scanned the dining room, checking for completion of a course, empty dishes to whisk away and beverage glasses in need of refill. With its bright yellow walls adorned with Asian artwork, the restaurant provides a cheerful venue to consume a meal. The interior is tidy and well maintained, with uniform dark brown tables and chairs. The restaurant gets a fair amount natural light from windows on two of the four walls in the dining area. Because of the confusion over my order type, I did not receive the complimentary banchan appetizer plate that was supplied to the other patrons who elected to dine at the restaurant. I did receive a lavish portion of the delightfully crisp, homemade kimchi that provided plenty of comforting warmth to accompany its bright clean flavors. Speaking of warmth, my entrée, the spicy pork bokum, which consisted of marinated pork, sautéed onions and green onion, created a mini heat wave during my late January visit. The dish was the perfect marriage of robust pork flavor and soulful Asian seasoning. While this dish is not for the timid, I enjoyed the heat this dish generated by the Gochujang after the first couple of bites. (Side note: Props to the host for delivering an extra napkin to dab off the beads of sweat forming on my forehead.) Though the dish was a touch greasy, the meat was well-trimmed and expertly prepared, featuring well-developed flavors. For a mere $7.99, the dish was a tremendous value, considering the generous portion size. While there are a number of intriguing options on the lunch menu, I sense that allure of the comforting pork bokum too hard to overcome. During my visit, the dining room never exceed 30% capacity, which is a shame, given the quality and value of the food. During my stay, I did notice that New Seoul enjoys a brisk carryout trade over the lunch hour. I'm still mourning the 2014 closure of American Latina Mexican Restaurant located in the same strip mall - I'd hate to see New Seoul suffer the same fate.

Joel Serre

Food is okay. Not very spicy

石倩蓉

The food is so delicious!

Kathryn McDaniel

The food here is pretty incredible! With excellent services.

Pat Mathieus

The food was pretty good. I got the bimbimbop and my wife got the kimchi fried rice.

Alexander Gibson

Fantastic place! Amazing Korean food at a great price.

Matt Kezer

Do NOT get the seafood soup. I ended up vomiting up $20 worth of food when I got home. The food was poor quality and I definitely don't recommend it.

Baokou Vang

Horrible experience! Service was bad as the owner set our plates on the table with a bang. And then didn't even give us our fourth rice as we order four entrees and owner asked for a tip when he clearly didn't deserve it with such bad service and food. Food was tasteless, we ordered a $27 soup that had no flavor and only tasted spicy. The bulgogi was dry, wasn't even cut and the utensils was tossed on the table and we were told to cut it ourselves. Recommend not to go unless you want tasteless Korean food.

Lakshmanan Padmanabhan

Classic Korean cooking at very reasonable prices. Tender, delicious bulgogi, fried dumplings, kim bop, and japchae bop had me coming back for more.

Bessenyei Izsák

OH MY!!!!! FOOD IS AMAZING!!! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! I will be back!!!

Alina Zhang

This restaurant has one of the most horrible customer service ever! Me and a bunch of my friends went to eat there on Friday night at like 6 ish and when we got there we had to wait 10 min before we could order food because the owner lady was too busy having a conversation with a customer who she clearly knew and came after us. I have to constantly try to get her attention by raising my hand to signal that I was ready to order. After we got our food, my tofu soup was extremely watered down and flavorless. One of my friends tried to get a water refill but again, she failed to notice us because she was having a conversation with another lady. When we left, I told the man that I didn't need the change back so it could be used for other customers who had forgotten to bring spare change and he slams the register and said "I don't need a 2 cent tip" and he continued by saying in the most condescending voice "you know about the tip right?". Never in my life have I had a owner of the restaurant ask me if I know about tipping. We did not receive the proper service for me to give a good tip nor was it just for him to request a tip. My friend ended up leaving a $10 tip on the table because that was all we had. I will never come back to this place ever again. To anyone looking for friendly customer service and good Korean food go to Sol's on the square, they have one of the most authentic Korean food in Madison.
