Called in an order for pick up. I asked if I could sub rice for the salad and she said yes. Picked it up at 8:55pm and briefly looked at the contents but decided to check again when I got to my car. Lo and behold the fried plantains were missing. Walked back in 15 seconds later and was told that no they cannot substitute rice for the salad which she agreed to do when I placed the order! Then I said I would just buy it but was told the kitchen was closed. Really? They can’t bother to correct their own mistake? Even at 9:01pm? Won’t be back. Don’t care how this food tastes. Lots of other Latin/Caribbean restaurants to patronize now.

Arroz y gandules never disappoints and the stewed pork shoulder was perfectly tender. My boyfriend enjoyed the whole fried fist. I would say the island decor makes it pretty interesting with the island decor and the service was good so it's a decent spot of a quick bite. I was hoping to love this place but it was just okay.

The food is good, nice ambiance, friendly staff. I've been coming here for the past 4 years and don't get me wrong I love the food. The only thing I've noticed is the extreme waited time for your food. 30 to 40 min. The staff has been reduced to one person that manages the bar, the take outs and the tables.

Nothing special about the food very Bland taste employees are very polite. The ambiance is incredibly lacking taste to the point of appearing haphazard and some of the benches have been repaired and are not sturdy enough to set on.

In the heart of the south side of Milwaukee, you find this small restaurant that celebrates both tradition with modern company! The food was incredible, reasonably priced, & friendly staff. This place honors all varieties of Caribbean food! Order anything and you will not be disappointed! I’m picky and was dying to try the comfort of food, and I was worried at first about trying a new place....this is my new favorite spot!

The food from here was really tasty and the restaurant has a really cute atmosphere with a Caribbean vibe. I will definitely come back again. The only thing to note is that there's a chance your server won't speak English very well. I had a challenging time ordering my good due to the language barrier.

I've eaten at this restaurant twice the first time I had a jibaro sandwich and alcapurias the jibaro was not so good plantains where undercook and too thick and not crispy as they should be and the meat was tough.and adding American cheese is gross...the alcapurias where burned and theeat filling had no flavor and it was meat you would out in Mexican tamales.. . I decided to give it a check and chance so this time I had some empanadas and mofongo with carne frita the empanadas we're perfect the ground be feeling was tasteful and done right the mofongo what's delicious also but I want to add that it was a little bit overfilled with tocino which overpowered the mashed plantain taste and the plantain itself was a bit ripe and made it mushy overall it was great. Then a few hour later myself and my friend who i shared the food with became feverish nauseated and with severely upset stomachs ..both with bouts of diaria..slight food poisoning. Dont eat there...

Today I order a jibarito around 1230 by 1pm i was at the hospital right after i ate it i started to get dizzy sweaty by stomach hurted i threw up and use the bathroom right away. Went to the hospital they said i had food poisoning very disappointed I will never go to this place I never want to feel what i felt this couple of hours.

I mean literally I had to track someone down to take my order, no acknowledgement when we walked in and sat down.The wait for the food to come out is a little long as well, however the food is great and full of taste. I had the jibarito sandwich and rice & beans.... Not what i expected at all. The jibarito's plantain bun was almost 1 inch thick and not smashed and fried(like its supposed to be)nor did it have minced garlic on top. The rice smelled and tasted like burnt beans. I literally gave the food away to another passenger in the car who said it smelled good and he'd take it. Only for him to throw it out with the same complaints. I wasnt to happy considering i drove from illinois to try this place. Nun the less, maybe they had a new cook or something because everyone kept telling me about this place and how good it was..unfortunatley i didnt like it. I hope they find a good cook because this place looks like a great establishement. Very freindly staff and inviting atmosphere. But the food needs some sazon or something.

The food is really good here. I heard service was kind of slow, but when I went, it was pretty average wait time. I feel like the have a pretty good selection of Puerto Rican and Dominican cuisine. Prices are pretty average too. I'd definitely go back here if I was in the mood for this type of food again.

Where to begin... the décor, when you try so hard it becomes messy... The front employees are not of Puerto Ricans or Dominican descent, they have no respect to our flags or any understanding to how respect them. The food my son ordered Mangu with salami and eggs, the mangu was made with old plantains (i know because plantain changed their color form one day to the next) It was so saturated with oil my son could not take more than two bites. The salami was over fried and the eggs, lest just say they were bad. My son's girlfriend food was nasty looking, that is all I care to say about it.. In the other hand I will say plenty about my order (Pica pollo friend chicken with tostones not slices of fried plantains) it was dry tasteless, over cook and not accompanied with real tostones. The waitress was disrespectful and very condescending. When she asked if everything was OK and I answered she gave me an attitude. I told her "don't you see the plates are 90% full, of course nothing is OK. I did not get want I ordered and my son's food is not fresh." Even the juice was water down. In a nut shell, it makes me sad that they are selling "Dominican food"and they do not know how to cook it.

The first experience was incredible, I ordered the mofongo with shrimp and loved it. We went there a second time 2 days ago and I brought my sister in law. I ordered the same thing but it wasn't like the first time. My sister in law ordered a mofongo with seafood but said the seafood felt warm not hot. The next day, we had to take her to the ER because she was extremely dehydrated and couldn't keep anything in her system. The seafood was the only cause of her being sick. There has been no sign of viruses or anything. My father has also ordered the same thing a day or two before we went there and did complain the seafood wasn't satisfactory but thankfully did not get sick. This could have been just a simple one time mistake the chef made but I don't think we would be returning after this incident.

Popped in here for lunch with the family on a weekend visit to Milwaukee. The plates were generous and delicious. The mofongo had plenty of garlic, which I loved, and the pernil was a bit salty for my taste but tender and otherwise delicious. Definitely worth a try!

Out of all the Caribbean restaurants I have try in the city of Milwaukee I want to say WOW! Their food was on point, it was not salty, not a lot of oil plus they serve a lot of food that is worth paying for. A lot of restaurants open up and they start off great with their service and their food at first but then for some reason or another they go down hill from when they started. Also I want to say Great service from Tony who went above and beyond to give GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Keep up the great service and great tasty food which is worth buying. Please don't change or else there will be no other Caribbean restaurant out there for me to recommend to family, friends, and my colleagues.
