Some of the better food selection and healthy in Madison. Staff is very professional and friendly. Delicious. Good prices!!
After waiting a few minutes just to order some bakery at the counter I walked out. And not for the first time. They were busy with lunch customers, but busy is no excuse when someone is just standing there doing nothing while ignoring you. The food is often quite good, the bakery items are excellent, and the location is convenient for me, but today was the last straw. I won't be back anytime soon.
Beautiful and comfortable atmosphere. Great coffee and food, bakery was to die for. Electronics usage discouraged, it was lovely to look around and not see anyone on their phone.
Attentive service and everything tasted delicious. We will be back.
Cozy comfortable interior with an outdoor garden arbor setting option. The green eggs and ham plate was attractive and delicious with a complementary salad and dressing. I'll be back to try more of the unique combinations of egg, veggies and meat dishes.
Great breakfast foods!
Excellent quiche. Lemon curd ricotta crepe was very good. Latte was excellent. Just had to keep stopping the waiter from clearing my plates too soon. Little bit pricey.
Great food! Good service. Kind of pricey.
We went here to get breakfast one morning after not having been in quite awhile. The hostess seated us and we began milling over the menu and talking, while using our phones. After about 10 minutes we both looked down and saw that they ask for "no phone use" in the restaurant, so we both put our phones down. We then noticed they also say they filter all of the "toxins" out of water, including fluoride. Fluoride in small amounts (like what the putting water) is good for your teeth. But still, we waited. By minute 15 we had yet to have someone approach us, even just to give us water. We looked around and the staff seemed to be just staring at us. It was not a busy morning, and we saw them serving other people, so obviously it was something with us. I'm all for giving places time to collect and actually get over to my table, but after 15 minutes without someone even bringing us water we decided to leave.
The outdoor seating in the summer is perfectly shaded and the atmosphere is very cozy. I was worried there’d be no gluten free food given it’s a bakery, but their menu was full of food I could eat! The wait staff was speedy and friendly, and the food and tea was delicious.
First time here. It was delicious and what a great atmosphere. I love the policy of no cell phones or laptops out.
Everything is delicious and great presentation
Good delicious but waiter pulled away and not replaced do service suffered.
Solid brunch place. Lots of seating, gives off a French café vibe, and the live piano music is a nice touch. Server was attentive and friendly. Have been here twice, and was satisfied, but not blown away by either the omelette or the chilaquiles.
If you have company coming into town, and you aren't sure what they like but you want to take them somewhere nice, La Brioche is a pretty safe bet. It's for that basically everyone can enjoy. Plus, the atmosphere and comfy chairs are very nice.
The menu is unique. They have specials every morning. Crossaints are to die for! Decoration places you in one of those old time movies that we love. If you order tea, you will get it in one of their special tea pots.
Great food but portions are a bit small for the price. Great atmosphere and staff!
Comfortable and cozy environment, great food. Coffee was the only aspect I would change. Server never asked what kind I wanted so I was served decaf. But will definitely be back. Bakery items looked delicious
Food is awesome. But its way overpriced. Service is really slow.
Consistent quality restaurant. I have had the quiche and some of the sandwiches and liked everything I have had. This place can get a bit busy at lunch. They have a nice dining room. I want to call it casual/upscale, if that makes sense.
Perfect place
Consistently great food and service. Might have to wait during busy times. Super fresh.
It was a busy Sunday so the half-hour wait to be seated was expected, but the complimentary coffee while we waited was awesome.
Spent a delightful, long brunch celebration here today. Celebrating a 77+ year old friendship and birthday with my 'oldest' friend! Wonderful, unhurried atmosphere, delicious food, attentive staff all accompanied by live piano music! What could be better than that? Judi and Jeanne celebrate life at La Brioche ❣️
We had an issue with an over cooked burger and the manager resolved it for us. We have been coming here for years and love it! Thanks Art for making it right! We will be back!
La Brioche is a consistent excellent choice for good food and great service.
Fantastic food. Better service
Excellent food, best cup of tea ever!
Great food if slightly more expensive than the average place in Madison. Great hot tea selection, good brunch drinks, and an environment that is very comfortable.
The place is situated in like a strip mall with very minimal parking so I wasn't expecting much. This is a super classy place with decent food to go with it. With the exception that they kept bringing me bread with everything even though I said I was gluten-free this was of quality meal. We all came for a Sunday brunch after wedding and originally it was just going to be the bride and groom's family which blossomed into a few good friends and they manage to This was a quality me out. We all (14) came for a Sunday brunch after a wedding and originally it would just going to be the bride and groom's family which cascaded into including a few good friends and they manage to squeeze in another table to accommodate our increased party. Although they didn't have smoothies or grapefruit juice what they did have was good. As an appetizer and we got three platters of their breakfast tacos but a vegetarian version without the chorizo. It came with a nice little side salad as did all the savory dishes that I noticed. A couple of us got their house cured wild caught salmon omelette and I didn't really like it as it was extremely salty salmon. A few others got the eggs benedict either with the forest ham or vegetarian version and that was raved about. I ordered the gluten-free tomato bisque and that was forgotten until I reminded the waitress but it was so well worth the wait Seems like they're trying to be a high class French bistro but they fall a little short of that but more than make up for the by using lots of local and fair trade food and peas and coffee. Overall you get way more than what you pay for in taste and quality and service
La Brioche has delicious brunch offerings. I especially enjoyed the quiche and omelettes. The variety of tea offerings here is much better than at most places, and they serve English-style tea. They have a cute outdoor patio area.
Awesome chocolate-covered macaroons
The shitake mushroom soup is top notch!
Great food. Love the brunch.
I really like the spinach quiche with raspberry vinigrette dressing salad. I also had the lavender white hot mocha withought the lavender and I must say that is very delightful and best I've had so far in Wisconsin way better than Starbucks, Panera, and McDonald's. I would recommend and go there again. I haven't tried desserts but they look so good too.
Always elegant, lovely decor. Splendid eclairs.
I've always enjoyed the food here - especially the pastries. Their eclairs are my favorite. I had lunch here once too - it was pricey but absolutely delicious.
New chef, brandon, is great. Everyone should check him out. Wonderful food the great LaBrioche reigns again. 7-1-18. Had breakfast w/Patti & Linda great food, wonderful service.
Great pizza, and the outdoor dining area is very pleasant!
It's wonderful to find a totally Organic restaurant in Madison. Food tasted wonderful with great service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back very soon.
Good food.
Always amazing food. Locally sourced. Really chilled atmosphere. No laptops or phones are allowed, wich I think is nice.
Tasty and plentiful servings, friendly service. Comfortable yet classy atmosphere, great bakery selection. All priced fairly. Treat this restaurant well, dress not too casual to encourage more of the same. In a different location or some tweaks could move to 5 stars easily.
Great food, great ambience
One of my favorite places to get coffee and breakfast with friends.
Quaint location for pretty good brunch and breakfast. They make a fantastic chai!! Added plus being the patio during good weather. Don't necessarily recommend the dinner, haven't had a good consistent experience with that. Service is also touch and go; had excellent to poor experiences, hard to say what you will find on a given day.
Delicious bake treats, and a lovely place for a family brunch. On the other hand, I can’t remember a single time ordering to go when a counter worker was noticeably friendly, or even smiled. Just a little warmth would go a long way.
Their strawberry cream puff was divine!
Holiday cookies were dry and bland.
great food, beautiful outdoor dining
Small serving size. Great desserts
Great atmosphere and great food
I have only been here once, so take this review as you will. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. It was quite busy, there was a twenty minute wait to sit inside. Fortunately outside seating was available immediately. The brunch menu, and the cocktail menu, is good size with varied selection. I ordered the green eggs and ham (scrambled eggs made with ham and pesto with greens on the side). The eggs were nice and fluffy. Everything was delicious. All in all my experience was wonderful. Additionally, my bill was only $14! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for some tasty brunch.
Avoid the Salmon omelette. :(
Very nice. Food was delicious!! Enjoyed by all.
Ok. Not great.
Great atmosphere, food and commitment to local farmers
As a company of two, we ordered a Mediterranean pizza and a beef brisket. They looked beautiful but we couldn't eat either. The meat was badly cooked and had a very sweet sauce; the pizza had dried figs on it, which I had never seen on a Mediterranean pizza before. Simple is better most of the time. They did not charge us only for the beef in the end. They seem to be doing better as a bakery though.
Very elegant space. Tasty pastries. Nice atmosphere.
The ambience is eclectic and charming. The foods we ordered were both fresh and delicious. This restaurant reminded us The Ovens of Brittany, a Madison restaurant we treasured. Make sure you take time to visit. We will be back!
One of my favorites!
Outdoor sealting was beautiful!
Love the local selections at La Brioche. Everything on the menu is delicious. Atmosphere is great. No cell phone or computer use allowed here so bring some friends!!
Not sure how this place only has four stars... the cutest environment, delicious and well priced food, and great customer service. Not sure what else you can ask for...
We brought our neighbors for their first visit and, "oh my goodness!" was uttered more than once. From the blackberry latte, to the chorizo skillet, to the berry French toast - everything was devoured! The atmosphere was designed for conversation, ambient noise was controlled, and the decor is charming. And the prices are reasonable for the fact that it's real, Whole Foods! Jamie provided amazing service, and we're definitely coming back!
Great good. The spicy shrimp delightful. The species were exactly correct: not overpowering the taste. Cornmeal cakes complemented the shrimp wonderfully. The trout almondien was perfect with a nice, generous serving of almonds.
Not a great experience waited so long for a salad. They were not busy. Had to ask for water and a refill on coffee. Usually not like this. But hopefully will improve!
Always a winner for breakfast and lunch, bakery and speciality drinks. Adorable decor, and comfortable. There is outdoor seating weather permitting. Trellised patio. Good for handicap, no stairs. Wonderful go to lunch with your buddy’s spot, or romantic quiet retreat. A good menu always changing with local fair.
Best grasshopper bars, they hop right into me mouth!
Super Great Sandwishes!!!
Excellent breakfast food. Slow food consortium, so everything is made to order. Great espresso and good atmosphere.
Best cafe ever. Mocha is
The food is always fantastic and the customer service is excellent.
Great bakery. GREAT. As to the brunch menu, meh. My wife loves the lemon crepes, otherwise I'd only ever go there for the bakery.
I have frequented La Brioche many times and have had excellent food and pretty good service. However, on December 20, 2017, our server named Claudia completely forgot about me, and my two friends the entire time we were there. She never refilled our water, and left us having to go to the front of the restaurant to order coffee, and a chocolate cake, which she said they ran out of. Today, my friend looked at her American Express credit card statement only to find that Claudia allocated herself an additional $6.00 tip. Upon learning this, I personally called the restaurant and spoke to a manager named Benjamin to whom I explained our experience there on the 20th, and the concern we have that the employee added an additional $6.00 tip. I was advised that he spoke to Claudia about my concerns and questioned her on the original receipt, which mysteriously disappeared. Please beware of this waitress named Claudia as it may not be the first time Claudia has given herself a higher tip then what the customer has given her at La Brioche.
Great brunch spot for local, fresh, and organic foods. I’ve tried pretty much everything on their menu. The quiche is fantastic and the lemon berry crepes are delicious. The environment is charming and unique, it’s apparent that a lot of thought went into every detail. The outdoor garden seating is my favorite during the warmer months. My only negative comment is, I wish they were still open for dinner, they now are just breakfast and lunch and close by 3 or 5pm. Oh yeah and how could I forget, you HAVE to try and blackberry latte!
I've been to La Brioche probably 6 or 7 times and never been disappointed with either the food or the service. The decor is very pleasant and enjoyable. To be able to sit outside during the summer under the porch roof is great. This is always my first choice when meeting friends in Madison for eating out.
Food was delicious. Service was a little slow but overall experience was great!
I came here looking for a hearty breakfast style place. I guess it's more of a brunch place. I thought my meal was over priced. I got a ham and bacon quiche. It was a small serving for 10$, something I would serve my 5 year old. Came with a side of bread, butter and, salad. But I didn't care for any of that. Service was absolutely amazing. But the food was not my thing.
I have loved this restaurant since I was a child. Thanks for all of the great memories!
I like the organic options on the menu and that you gets greens as a side on many dishes. Berry salad or crepes are tasty. Good chocolate croissants! I miss the dinner hours.
Always delicious! Locally sourced foodie heaven. A variety of comfy chairs and tables with French flair.
I've been going to La Brioche for about 2.5 years on and off now. The pastries and baked goods have always been excellent, and you can get them take-away if you'd prefer to not eat at the restaurant itself. I'm a fan of their enormous eclairs, which I'll slice into quarters and eat over several days. Recently it seems like management has changed over, and the dinner dishes certainly have been revamped for the better. On my most recent visit I had southern fried quail with barley, gravy and collard greens, which the chef let me know was new to the menu. While I've never been down "South" to confirm its authenticity, the dish itself was very good and plated beautifully. The barley was very fluffy, almost like puffed rice in size, and accompanied the gravy well. The fried fowl was flavorful, and a nice counter-point to the sharp greens. The entire entree was light for what should have been a heavy dish, and I hope it stays on the menu. La Brioche has plenty of regulars, and if you're in the area, it won't hurt to give it a try. If the weather is nice, try the outside seating -- the side of the building has a lovely trellis with vines and a nice garden to make the experience all that more enjoyable. I liked the place before, and I like it even more now.
Wonderful!
The atmosphere was very nice, the food even better. Price was fair for the quality of food, and the food was fresh and you could tell it was from scratch/homemade. Will be back here no doubt.
My favorite brunch place at Madison. I like all their pastries. The atmosphere is so elegant. Little bit expensive but it worth it.
Beautiful morning on the patio. Delicious blueberry scones and citrus green tea.
Food was fantastic (everything on the menu looked great) but service was a bit sub par during busy lunch rush. The waitress was friendly but wasn't attentive to our table and kept missing details. Would go again.
Excellent all around!!
Delicious food. Slow service.
Great atmosphere, service, and food!
Wow, what a great place to stop by for lunch. This place has wonderful salads, quiche, and tea selection. It's food is very much French like it's name suggested. This is a good thing! Traditional French cuisine is fresh, local, and healthy. The way that the current trends are moving. I had some tea on a beautiful summer day outside while I was at waiting for my quiche and salad. I didn't end up needing the extra salad as the quiche came with a side salad. Everything was so tasty! The quiche was rich, with a delicate buttery crust. I'll definitely be coming back.
Super fresh food, makes my mouth water thinking about it.
Great spot for a bougie brunch with the girls. My favorite is their eggs Benedict with lemon béarnaise instead of hollandaise. Nom! Don’t forget to pick up a baguette or an éclair from the case on the way out!
Place was busy sadly. I did not get the opportunity to eat there as I was given a wait time and as time passed beyond it, I could not wait any longer so went next door for take out.
Delicious good!
This place is a little glamorous for me with the wallpaper and big fabric chairs. But the iced vanilla latte was yummy. I love the egg's Benedict and the eclairs. It is definitely not the cheapest but if you feel like treating yourself it is a nice way to start the day.
Food was good but took forever and waitress had to be reminded twice to bring food she forgot.
I was very disappointed by my experience here. The food was rather overpriced and not well prepared. The beef on both the French dip sandwich and the $12 burger was dry. They did do a good job on the omelet. Their house vinegrette was very good. The atmosphere is cluttered. Too many tables and quite noisy. And be prepared to spend more than it's worth.
We went for breakfast and it was excellent! They have wonderful coffees and pots of tea. Love the decor and atmosphere. Wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. Highly recommend.
One of my favorites places ever. Great food, great vibe, wonderful staff.
I had my wedding on 02/13/2016 and we contacted La Brioche in June, 2015 to try their cake samples. The lemon poppy-seed sample we tried was very tasty, with rich flavor and moist texture, so we ordered 2.5 sheet cakes and paid for everything in September, 2015. Unfortunately, the sampling was the only positive experience we had with La Brioche. My wife contacted La Brioche 1 month before the wedding to check in and we were told that everything was ready to go as planned. However, TWO DAYS prior to our wedding, the manager called us to say "we see you paid us for your wedding but we aren't sure what exactly was ordered". Obviously we had many other wedding things going on that close to the wedding date but we took the time to confirm our order with them for the third time since they apparently didn't record it properly. On the day of our wedding, the cake that was given to us was not the product we had sampled, and consisted of a dry, firm texture (it was almost crunchy). We were embarrassed and thoroughly disappointed that the product we were given was so unappetizing. Almost as disappointing as the cake, was the customer service displayed by La Brioche after we called them about their unsatisfying product. The manager, Arthur, interrupted me during my conversation to say "I can tell where this is going and I don't need to hear any more". I later spoke with the owner, David, who I had to ask for for an apology before he gave one, and who accused me of trying to get freebies from them. He even went so far as to hint that the cake quality could have been influenced by what my wife told them TWO DAYS prior to our wedding, when they didn't keep proper records in the first place. There were 200 people at our event that can attest to the [lack of] cake quality, as well as the venue staff. When I asked David if he could explain why the final product was so much worse than what we had sampled, he said "I didn't try the samples or the final product so I can't answer that". Overall, our wedding day was wonderful but I was astounded at the lack of product, service, and care displayed by La Brioche. It was quite clear that once we had paid them, they no longer cared about our experience as customers.
Doesn't look like much from the outside but it has GREAT food! Went for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious!!! I'd recommend the Vanilla Challah French Toast, Crepes, and Pesto “Green Eggs and Ham” Scramble! So good!
Great food and atmosphere.
The cupcake was perfect. It's a bit confusing to know if you should order at the table or at the counter. A glass of water would have been nice.
Great breakfast sandwich.
Loved the eggs Benedict and blueberry mocha!!!
A bit of Europe in a Madison strip mall. Inside, the decor is elegant. Classical music, not too loud. The food is from local sources and prepared with care. So fresh! I had the wild salmon omelet and a huge double cappuccino. My husband had the croissant breakfast sandwich and the cappuccino. Both were served with a generous side of mixed greens. It was funny to see my husband rolling his eyes in pleasure at his "real croissant," and talking about the Packers' new season. My omelet was fluffy and richly moist, a perfect amount of cream cheese and exquisite salmon. We can't wait to go back again. Next time we might choose to sit outdoors under the pergola.
Food is good, water is flipping fantastic! So many drink options they take up one entire side of the menu! Live music (there's a piano there, not a stage.) Comfy seats and lots of sweets too! Although the interior decorating isn't my style I'd go back for more food.
High End. Quiet. Tranquil. Also really good food.
Great food, excellent service!
Excellent food and service. Nice wines.
I had ordered a skillet without mushrooms. The waitress didn't write down our order. The order actually had mushrooms in it.
Someone duplicated my credit card the day after I visited here. This was the only time I had used that card where it was physically out of my sight in months. When I called the restaurant to make them aware of what happened, the front of house manager I spoke with did not seem to care at all.
Great food. The wait was a bit long but the place was packed. Free coffee while you wait.
Excelkent food! The tables are a bit too close together, which makes it difficult to get around them. Navigating to the restrooms is a challenge!
Wonderful! Friendly staff and great food.
It was fantastic! This is real food at it's finest. We ate outside and the surroundings we're beautiful even though you are right off a busy street. We will definitely be going back.
Slow, arrogant, and generally bad service. Food is mediocre and over priced. This one star is for their morning buns and croissants, which are tasty (but still too damn expensive).
EXCERPT: "My girlfriend got up and approached a man working near the front, whom she perceived was the manager. He was wearing a tie and a vest. She asked if he was the manager... coincidentally, there isn't a manager there working Sunday brunches. He comes back to tell us that there isn't anybody there to help us, and we ask for the check and leave. I felt like my $2 tip was WAY more than it should be. And the worst part was that they didn't take anything off the bill to try and make things right, not even the $2.75 muffin." This place was terrible. I will never go again, and neither should you. I'm doing my part to make sure you don't have an experience like we did. Here's our story. We (girlfriend and I) placed our order, breakfast skillet and croissant sandwich. We had a cappuccino and hot chai latte and a muffin to start. It's hard to screw up coffee and a muffin, and they were good. Our food comes out, late, but they brought us the wrong item. They brought a breakfast skillet (mine) and a mushroom skillet for my girlfriend. My girlfriend tells Jesse "I didn't order that", and Jesse says, "oh sorry, the item you ordered isn't on the weekend (Sunday) brunch menu." The croissant sandwich was on the paper menu, though? While I'm awkwardly eating my food while my girlfriend watches, we see a different server bring another table the croissant sandwich. The waitress lied to cover up her negligence. Also, my breakfast skillet was mediocre. Cold potatoes, with warm eggs on top... yuuuum. My girlfriend got up and approached a man working near the front. He was wearing a tie and a vest. She asked to speak to the manager... oh yea, there isn't a manager there working Sunday brunches. He comes back to tell us that, and we ask for the check and leave. I felt like my $2 tip was WAY more than it should be. They didn't take anything off the bill to try to make things right.
Right outside of campus to avoid the noise of college life, but close enough for a visit with family. Great restaurant with plenty of food options. Has outdoor seating for nice days too! I tried the meat quiche and the lemon crepes and they were both very good.
Delicious food cleverly prepared, French-American fusion. Great bakery, often sells out early. Parking is a bear during the day--get there early. Good coffee, great place for breakfast meetings.
Excellent food and service!
Very good with great service.
Delightful! Delicious lunch. Excellent service. Decor inviting. Did I mention they have Ovens of Brittany MORNING BUNS! coffee
Fantastic atmosphere.
Great bakery, good food. $3 upcharge for greasy potatoes over mixed greens is ridiculous.
