We went on a Monday night for our anniversary dinner. I was superuser at how lovely and busy Goodkind was for a Monday. Perfect place for romantic and cozy atmosphere. We both had cocktails as starters, then a bottle of Celebration wine which was fantastic (and half of on Mondays) with our dinner of scallops and chicken. Both meals were hearty and flavorful - the scallop dish especially felt like a large full meal unlike most scallop fingers I find. Finished our night with Dragons Milk beer from their dessert menu which suggested numerous beers and cocktails. Overall it was great. You pay for the ambiance and warm feel of the restaurant so food is a hair pricey but worth it. Had a great night!

I brought family from out of town here to impress them. Food was good. Service was not. Friday night. We had a reservation and they asked that we grab a drink at the bar while we wait. Bartender was nice and efficient. One of our group was feeling under the weather and ordered a hot tea, the bartender didn't grimace and stopped what he was doing during a busy night to make the hot tea. Thank you bartender. Table service on the other hand was poor. Server was upset we came from the bar with drinks and ensured that we closed out with the bar. We ordered some apps and our entrees. Apps were good. Our plates were cleared once we finished. About 15+ minutes goes by and the server comes back over. It's obvious she was about to ask how our entrees were tasting when she realizes we have no entrees. She rushes over to the kitchen only to realize she never rang in our main course. She rushes back past us to a terminal in the back and then again rushes past us to the kitchen to let them know of her error and to rush our food. Not once does she stop back by and explain the error even though it is quite obvious what had transpired. When entrees were eventually dropped, there wasn't even a small apology for the additional wait. It was like if the problem was ignored, it didn't exist at all. Again, food was good but the overall experience was poor.

AWFULLY RUDE! Could not believe the poor treatment! Have been here in the past and had a decent experience, kind of expensive for what it is but tasty and innovative, but after last night’s visit I don’t think there will be a return trip. We just moved to the neighborhood and were excited to have after-dinner drinks on the patio with our puppy at 9pm. Approached the hostess for a 2 top outside and she says, “Well, I can seat you but the patio closes in an hour ...” I said that’s fine, she went to check with someone else who returned with her a few minutes later and told me the same thing again, “the patio has to close at 10pm.” Again I confirmed I understood. Plenty of open tables outside, our server greeted us with “The patio closes in an hour FYI,” instead of “welcome, have you been here before? Here’s what we’re featuring.” We told her again we had been warned a few times already when the patio closes and asked for drink suggestions. When she returned with our drinks she asked what we would like to eat, after browsing the menu we said we thought we would just stick with a few cocktails. She reprimanded us! “OK well actually the patio is for food. Next time you need to have drinks at the bar first and then come outside for food.” My boyfriend said to our server, wow so you don’t want us to spend more than an hour on the patio which would barely be enough time for a meal but we can’t just stick to a few rounds of $12 cocktails either. Seems like this is a pretty elite place and we’re not really welcome. It’s not like the place was packed and others were waiting to be seated outside. We quickly finished our cocktails (nothing to write home about), tipped 20%, and left immediately.

After all the hype, we were disappointed. Pork shoulder was dry and over cooked. Half chicken was cooked very well, but lacked flavor. Roasted vegetables were excellent, but the parmesan polenta was ok. Service was friendly and prompt. Best part was their long list of bourbons to choose from.

The crispy Brussels sprouts salad was great, fresh and light. The cod and potato croquettes were a unique experience, a little fishy mixed with creamy potato which was good. The scallops were good but a little salty. But the almond and cherry tart for dessert was divine!

$35 per meal to good home hungry? I had a cold bowl of under cooked mediocre spaghetti. My friend had some pork roast … and that’s it. They are trying to be fancy so there is no soup or salad, no sides. The service was okay… their deserts were different pretty good. No reason to go back or recommend them.

This place is excellent. If you want a 5 star dining experience in a more casual environment, this is the place for you. You pay for what you get, so the food is not cheap, but it is fantastic. They also have an amazing craft beer selection, which is not to be understated. Eat at this place; you will not regret it.

Good food in a hipster restaurant atmosphere. We came here for brunch on a Packers game Sunday and the place was pretty slow, but you can make reservations by calling ahead. This is definitely an adult restaurant, and not somewhere I'd recommend to families with very small children.

Poor bar service...Just stopped into Goodkind to try their Tues. specially burger. Received drink menu from male bartender with long beard. Another customer was waiting to order another beer and asked respectfully for another. The bartender said ,"Yeh, hang on." He went back to the table with the waitresses that were discussing the menu. He then went to serve the other customer, then he came to us with the dinner menu. I asked about the specially burger. He said, " It's the first thing on the large plate", and walked away again. We decided to leave the restaurant.

As I was descending into Milwaukee I started searching for “best places to eat” and came across this little gem. It’s a quick drive from the airport which was great since I was starving. The decor was welcoming and the food was fantastic . I started off with some lightly breaded calamari and then enjoyed the zesty Spicy Crab Pasta- the bucatini noodles were so fresh!

I don't know. I've only been here twice, and the first time the food was incredible - about 9 months ago. Tonight I got the artichoke pancake with olives, arugula, tomatoes, zucchini and some kind of sauce. The sauce was too sour and too sweet, the vegetables were sour and tasted off, and the artichoke pancake was both bland and pungent. It somehow needed more salt but less salt. The 6 slivers of olives were the only redeeming aspect of the dish, but with the bitterness of the arugula and that weird pink sauce with a flavor I couldn't quite pinpoint, the whole dish was just....too many competing flavors, or too much sour? I don't know. It was inedible. I got the roasted beets as a side, and seemed fine at first, but they were also sour. It's like everything was roasted in expired lemon juice. My partner and friends loved their roasted pork, polenta and chicken and vegetables, but sadly the vegan dish was irredeemable.

Brunch or dinner - Goodkind is a delight! As vegetarians, my husband and I don't consider this a restaurant with endless options for us. However, the options they do have are wonderful and never fail to impress. We especially love coming here with family and friends that do enjoy meat entrees, as we recognize they have a lot to offer in that department. And the brunch has a couple of solid options - the aebelskiver pancakes as a starter and the whipped tofu as a main - that we keep coming back for. One of the other reasons we love our dining experiences is the ambiance. The space has a comfortable and cozy feel while feeling unique and intriguing. The wallpaper on the back wall of the space is gorgeous and there are numerous other charming details - the hanging lamps, the bar itself, the live plants all around. And of course, the cocktail menu has to be mentioned. Thy have inventive drink options that seem to change from time to time. I've never been disappointed. Nor have I seen the same kind of craft in many other places. Some tips - make reservations by phone in advance and save a few minutes to find parking on the street.

Was visiting for november project summit. Went to dinner there with my hosts my last night. Everything sounded delightful, it was hard to make a decision. I was genuinely filled with joy with every bite. The elote pancake was incredible! And it was huge. Could have eaten just that. But I ate so much more. Went in with a large group for Sunday brunch. Interesting menu items different than most brunch menus. Selected Pizza eggs which was quite tasty but might have been better if it hadn't been cold. I've only ever GREAT things about this restaurant. My drink was great (My Darling Amadeus). The steak was delicious. The broth for the mussels wasn't robust enough. Just flat out one of the best, if not THE best restaurant we've eaten in in Milwaukee in the last couple of years. There was nothing on the menu we didn't want to order. The complexity and layers of flavor are wonderful, the service relaxed and intelligent, the ambiance "neighborhoody". Craft cocktails are unusual and surprising and the greens in coconut milk concoction the night we were there was unexpectedly breathtaking. We can't wait to go back.

A nice restaurant, with great service, but didn't quite live up to my lofty expectations. Overall fantastic spot for a date night. Great environment and good quality ingredients. However, not 5 stars as I thought the pork ribs were a little fatty for my tastes. Also very interesting cocktails, not sure if having rum and bourbon in the same drink works very well. Still, I recommend trying it out

An American restaurant with a wide variety of drinks. I appreciate the fact that they get some quality ingredients from local vendors. The service is good. She was present when we needed her. But it's quite pricy for the food you get. Most upscale places I've been which the price of main dishes are above 20$ offer some unique taste and combination of flavors. But this one falls short on that. The half chicken I ordered was just a roasted chicken. No vegetables or marination to give the meat some flavor.
