Excellent food and drinks. Very pleasant and attentive service, great beer list - truly a hidden gem in Milwaukee!
Always one of our favorites. Great food with friendly service!
My wife and I were joined by four guests for a very memorable, fun and delicious five course meal recently. The service was stellar and the food was incredible. This was one of the best meals I have ever had and many in my group stated the same. The owner was even in the kitchen much of the evening preparing our food. She clearly takes great pride in her restaurant.
Fabulous meals (lamb shank, tempura branzino) and service. Birthday dessert exceeded all expectations.
Best burger!
Loved our appetizers. Scallops were great but only got 3 of them!
Went there for brunch and could not have been happier. Was not expecting such an inventive, but accessible menu. Pork belly roulade was so unique and flavorful and the steer beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly with this incredible sauce.
I cannot wait to come back here! The menu was a bit intimidating to me; i didn't know what a lot of the items were and had to do some research. We had the roasted winter squash wedges to start. I should have known that the rest of our meal would be so delectable if you can make roasted squash to die for. The benne buttermilk biscuits were adorable and another delightful start to the meal. The lamb shank had so much flavor! Anyone into middle eastern or indian spices would love this dish. The niman ranch hanger had so much flavor and is a safe bet for anyone intimidated by the menu. We were a group of 10 women out for a birthday party and looking to have a wonderful evening and the server really treated us with respect and professionalism. I was also extremely impressed with how the staff handled a vegan in our group. She called a day in advance to give them a heads up and on the day of our server spoke with the chef and they put together her own little special. I was truly impressed and this is part of the reason they are such a fantastic establishment.
Probably had the best chicken I've ever had here before
A spectacular combination of hot, sweet, and savory in every dish! And while the food was excellent as always, they made for a very memorable night by giving us special seating in a booth for two at the end of the bar and a spectacular dessert at the end of the meal. Lads, if you're looking for a romantic place to take your girl, this is it! We had a wonderful 2nd anniversary together!!
Love the cozy, house-like atmosphere and non matching tables. The unique food is delicious and prepared where you can watch.
Crazy Water is one of the better date restaurants in Milwaukee. It's trendy, with good food, a nice atmosphere, and great cocktails. It has a very "homey" feel to it. The waygu sirloin, short ribs, and crazy shrimp are three of my favorites. It's become more popular over the years, and my cousin was the one who turned me onto this place. I have yet to have a bad meal, and they've been very consistent in what they deliver.
We enjoyed two different entrees - duck breast and salmon - and each were prepared very nicely, served hot and quickly. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the sauces were a perfect complement for each item.
Excellent food and service.
The perfect restaurant! The food was superb. We loved everything we ordered, but the bone marrow brulee appetizer was the stand out. Plenty to share. It's unique and hip. The outdoor seating area was just beautiful. Like eating amazing food in a lovely garden. The wait staff was fun, gave great recommendations, and truly cared that we enjoyed our evening. We went at 7:30 on a Thursday night and there was no wait. The outdoor space did get a little dark.
Very yummy and great cozy restaurant
Spectacular food and place!
Great recommendations from the staff. Loved the atmosphere, foo drinks and the food.
Everything was incredible including attentive service and good craft cocktails. Plan on $100 per person.
Excellent dinner, outstanding service even though they were extremely busy. Makes me wonder why I don't come more often.
A very very tasty option in the third ward / fifth ward area. Small restaurant with open kitchen. Rotating items on menu. Small plates mostly.
Awesome ambiance and amazing food! Great for a date night.
Fantastic! Great Food!
Amazing staff, cozy place, wonderful variety of delicious dishes.
Small cafe with big flavor!
Recently stopped in, the Bone Marrow Brûlée and Beef Wellington dishes were prepared excellently - two great rustic dishes. I highly recommend this place for the quality of the food, personable service, and the place is super cozy. Love it.
Wonderful dishes, Pricey but worth the experience
Great food, great service. Patio is perfect for a large group.
Great food..great drinks..great time!
Great food fun times
ALWAYS CLEAN INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
Great first date here, food was great if you eat meat. If you are vegetarian the options are limited, I think my date had 2 options. Ambiance
Fantastic fusion food and a very interesting menu. Everyone in our group loved it.
Intimate and tasty friendly service A+ all around
I would never use Hoppe Tree Service again and I warn anybody about them who is looking for an arborist. I have a workshop in downtown Milwaukee that had overhanging branches above it (flat rubber roof). They cut the branches and just let them drop onto the rubber roof gouging holes in the rubber, resulting in water under the rubber and soaked insulation. My calls have gone unanswered.
Had a delicious dinner at Crazy Water.
I go up to Portage at least every two weeks on business and always go via Milwakee even there are shorter roads. Crazy water is the reason. I love this place and their current menu will require to more more frequently. Food, quality, service are always so far above any expectations of Milwaukee, I lived in New York for 12 years and 17 in Chicago. Baked oysters with grilled lemons,. grilled sour dough with heirloom tomatoes, warm goat cheese ... I almost cry it is so good. Tha grilled whole branzino with sauce Bierce is out of this world!
Both the grilled octopus and the escargo ravioli appetizer are amazing.
My go to place for a great dining experience!
We just love this place. The food is fantastic. There is a bar with a great drink menu. The atmosphere is very nice. The kitchen is an open concept and incredibly small, which amazes me everytime we go. That the chef can create such great dishes in such a small space. No fancy equipment or multiple chefs and stations, just one very talented chef.
I am not an "eclectic" kinda guy... but a nice enough experience.
Great food, great service, quaint atmosphere
The atmosphere is cozy, and the food is well- sized and deliciously cooked.
Love this restaurant
Wonderful
This has become a Milwaukee favorite. Small intimate restaurant. Great food. Love watching the chef
Everything was great except the over cooked, then under cooked, then over cooked duck, after everyone else had eaten. Avoid the duck, and you'll have a great time!
Wowie zowie! Such amazing flavors coming out of such a tiny kitchen. Yes I will definitely go there again!
Very good food ,great hospitality ask for Jessica she is awesome.
Always a delightful experience. Whether looking for a season inspired appetizer or inventive entree, Crazy Water is consistently one of the best places to enjoy a meal.
It was ok, had a good duck meal and drinks were good. Kinda cramped at times but friendly staff.
Had a wonderful dinner all around! The ribeye and branzino were done to perfection! Would highly recommend you save room for dessert!
American, French, Asian. For sure is there best definition for their food.
Great food. Original. Waitress made the visit less than perfect but the quality of the food more than compensated. Steep front steps so you may wish call ahead to enter through the back door. Scallops were fresh despite the waitress thinking otherwise. Waygu beef done perfectly. would return.
Food was tasty but the service was slow and the air conditioning was not keeping up so it was not a great experience. They were out of a few menu items before 6PM so choices were limited.
We had a great time at Crazy Water. The ambience, service and food were wonderful. Our server Lindsey was very helpful, polite and accommodating. We would go there again and recommend it to our friends!
They most amazing salmon EVER!! wonderful service, great atmosphere.
Fabulous dinner. Great service, always exciting, and unexpected
Food was absolutely amazing. Waitstaff....not so much. Felt like we were looked down upon for getting the burgers that were the special that day. Asked for ketchup for the fries....mean mugged. It's just ketchup. Like i said food was absolutely amazing. Will be back. Hopefully different waitstaff.
Crazy Water's cook and serve staff may now be out of proportion to the number of tables they are serving. Our server had to return to remind herself of our order and the bar staff had to do the same regarding our wine selection. The menu remains ambitious and appealing but I wonder if they are losing control given the overcooked $36 halibut I was served. Perhaps it all works well when they aren't filled as they were on the recent Saturday night that we were there.
Superb food.
While the food itself was very good, the prices were not for the experience we had while dining. I knew going in that they were high, but was willing to try due to the rave reviews. Our server seemed inconvenienced by our presence, our water glasses were never refilled, we were offered no butter for our rolls, we were not asked if we would like another glass of wine, and the whole meal from start to finish took less than 40 minutes. We felt rushed. Also, the roman shade over the seat at our dining table was dusty and dirty, as was the wire for the track lighting. We will not be back, and will not be recommending this place to anyone.
Delicious
The food here was the only good part of my meal. Drinks were overpriced and underwhelming, and our service was frankly not good. Our server made me feel like I was a burden and as if she had better things to do from the moment we walked in until we left. Food was good, but you can get good food at this same price point at many other Milwaukee restaurants, without getting poor, slow service.
Wonderful post valentine's day dinner
The food here is incredible. They had a grouper in special. Probly some of the best grouper I have ever eaten.
My favorite restaurant in Milwaukee hands down. Attention to detail, fully active owners, creative fusion menu, great wine selection. Casual, close and comforting. There's rarely anything left on the plate because if you don't finish that I WILL!
A nice little restaurant in Walkers Point. Pretty decent wine and beer selection. Cozy environment and decorations. Could be a little hipster for some but I think it adds a nice charm. Try the tomato tart and risotto. Definitely overall worth a try.
Friendly staff and AMAZING food, definitely would recommend!! Tasty wine list and it's cool being able to see into the kitchen!
Loved the raw tuna taco appetizer!
Good food, but small and limited. The food was a bit pricey and I had higher expectations. Limited menu as well. More of a special date place than exceptional meal.
A favorite of ours. The food is amazing, we are never disappointed, make sure to leave room for dessert. The waitstaff is friendly and very professional. The atmosphere is intimate
Got the biscuits, lamb shank, and salmon. Both of us got the least sweet/fruity cocktails on the specialty list and both drinks were way too sweet. Lamb shank was good, but the salmon was sub par. The swiss chard and fingerling potatoes were luke warm when they came to the table, the sauce looked like pure oil with not much flavor, and the salmon almost had a plasticy texture on the thinner parts which I have never experienced before. Would comply if someone I was going with was dead set on Crazy Water, but I am in no hurry to return. For the price and quality of the meal I felt like there are many more restaurants in Milwaukee that provide a better experience all-around.
Small place but handled our business group easily. Food was excellent as well as the service. Had the special, which was dry fruit stuffed tenderloin and all others in the party enjoyed their entrees. Will return when in Milwaukee again and recommend to others.
The food is this place is all super good. Like Grade A, top quality good. For me to give this place 5 stars, the portion sizes and prices would have to be equal, and I'd say the prices surpassed the portions. You do get what you pay for in taste, like I said. Also--and maybe it was the constant opening/closing of the patio door--but we went on a 90-degree day, and it felt like the was no working A/C, so it was uncomfortable. Last thing, the service was great. They're on the cusp of 5 stars.
Do not drink CRAZY WATER IS A BAR
Nice patio. All the food served was cool down when it arrived at the table. Waitresses not very helpful. Food a little pricey.
So noisy on a Saturday night!! Tables VERY close together. Totally uninspired plate of leaves billed as an arugula "salad." But the entrees were good, and the staff very nice, indeed.
Good food
You have to try the Door County Cherry/Chocolate chip bread pudding, better than grandma used to make! Outstanding food.
This restaurant is wonderful. I ate here with my Father. It was only 5 minutes from our hotel (Days Inn, on 6th and vine). Located downtown Milwukee. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the food and wine. She also knew which wine tasted best with which meal, all while still taking into consideration your taste for which wine you liked best ex: if you like red, not white and/or bitter or sweet. The pricing of the food wasn't cheap, but it also didn't break the bank. The food was amazing.
The food was incredible!
Excellent food, great service and unique environment. Only very slight knock is the pricing is a little on the high side, but overall worth it!
Been to Crazy Water twice, and I have yet to eat something I didn't love. A bit crowed but if you make a reservation its not bad. Helpful staff. Will be returning!
Delicious food and good service in a quaint setting.
Amazing! The service, the food, and the drinks. We will definitely be back.
I love the quality and size and their plates! It is not a question of quantity but quality.
This is a mixed feeling review. The place is very nice, like the service and the liquor options are very good but to be honest the food seems too complex for my taste and did not enjoy their selection. With that said, their bread pudding was out of this world.
Most delicious and creative dining experience in Milwaukee!
Hearing rave reviews is one thing, being able to go, short notice, on a Saturday and be able to leave a rave review is quite another. Great food, great staff, would (and already have) recommend to friends and family~
What a tremendous find! This tucked away jewel in walkers point has amazing food and something for everyone! Our seafood dishes were cooked to absolute perfection and the sauces were amazing. What these folks do in their tiny kitchen is amazing. Go there and enjoy yourself!
Wonderful service, excellent food.
We have made it a yearly tradition to come to this place on our anniversary, the food and service has not disappointed us :)
Amazing restaurant with amazing food!
Wonderful atmosphere, service and food! Would like to see a few vegetarian options on the menu
Very good. Quite the interesting place and menu. Great place to enjoy Milwaukee!
First time there and it was great!
One of my favorite places. Warm and cozy in the winter and a great outdoor covered and screened dining in warmer weather. The menu selection and specials are outstanding. I had lamb on my last visit and it was so flavorful and tender I find myself craving it now and again. Service has always been impeccable. Severs are knowledgeable and vrry friendly. Prices are above moderate, but below what I would say is expensive, and well worth the money.
Very disappointed last night. Food was fabulous but the service was the worst ever. Started off ordering a bottle of wine, 20 minutes later waitress came back and told me they were out of that wine. Reordered another bottle of wine and she came back and told me they were out of 5 other vintages. After ordering our dinners waitress came back 2 more times to ask what I had ordered. Service was beyond slow, but again the good was delicious.
Good food
It was a quiet January Sunday in downtown Milwaukee when we discovered Swingin' Door Exchange. We felt very welcome in the warm neighborhood bar setting. The Beet Salad the best ever and the Huey Pasta was excellent. Many beers to choose from. Good place to be on a cold Milwaukee Sunday.
Pork belly and bread pudding were both really awesome
Great food. Great service. Always a creative menu.
Crazy Water never disappoints. Quaint little dining room with the kitchen right at the bar. The food is phenomenal. Sit on the patio if you can!
OMG. How do I assign 6 stars to this place. The garlic chicken potstickers explodes with flavor. The flat iron steak was cooked to perfection. The cheesecake was a delicate balance between sweet and creamy. You. Will. Love. This. Place. Period.
No food left for us.
The space is extremely small. Waiting for a table involved huddling by the bathroom in which you could bump a switch to turn off lighting for half the dining area (which happened). When seated, wait staff will brush against you, which isn't a problem but it can be cramped if you have a large party. The atmosphere is nice. Food wasn't particularly amazing. I had a Beef Wellington. The crust was ok but not very crispy and the meat was flavorless. It pained me to pay 40 dollars for such a thing. Appetizers and side items were very good however. While the food was somewhat disappointing, the worst part was we had looked at the menu on the website and was rather excited to see some items. My wife is picky, so she even saw something that she would like. When we arrived, we found the menu was completely different than what's on the website. This steamed me. All of the picky eaters were put off and extra disappointed that the burger (which was on the menu) was only available some days of the week. Waitresses were very friendly and handled our group well since, to be fair, we were all loud and obnoxious. Drinks were good.
Quaint little Walker's Point restaurant. One of the best dining spots in Milwaukee.
Small, dark smokey, shabby-chic house where you can watch the two cooks overcook your small portion for too many $$$$
Service (our server) was lacking and we weren't even asked for our drink order for a long time...and then chunky cheese cake???!! overall everything was lacking and just not a great experience. We didn't receive any bread with our dinner while tables around us were. Great entrees.
Very small, cozy atmosphere with nowhere to wait if your reservation is late. Food was bland and small portions like many of these restaurants. Service was mediocre lacking in speed and attentiveness which prevented us from ordering more drinks.
A bit of a squeeze with the seating but the food is fantastic from a considered and eclectic menu
Food was fine. Service was atrocious! Made us feel bad that they were out of most of their wine selections. Told them it was our 50th wedding anniversary and they told us they were out of candles but we could blow out the votive on the table. Very unprofessional.
Wow! Such care in every dish served even the cocktails were delicious :) we absolutely loved the care we received in service and the food...the food...AMAZBALZ! So thoughtful, So full- so happy - do yourself and your tastebuds a favor ... eat CRAZY WATER! OFTEN! We'll be back soon!
Great atmosphere, great food, outstanding bartender!!
Unique and delicious food offerings.
Good food, a must try in Milwaukee.
Fine experience. Surprising and delicious with staff that makes you feel welcome.
Always clever, delicious and nuanced. The winter menu is delightful. Go & see for yourself.
I went here on a date in college and have not been back in awhile. It was some of the best food I'd had in the city. The place is so cute and eclectic, perfect for a rare date night. The servers were knowledgeable and efficient. The drinks were great too.
Always delicious, and super romantic in the enclosed patio (if you're into that kind of thing).
Food was good. Service was good. We went with a large group but it's a small place and we overtaxed them. Would be better with a party of 4 (vs. 9). We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend but the food didn't change my world like I would expect for the $$
Small restaurant with some of the best flavors in Milwaukee. Great environment and even better food.
Hands down. The best.
Ordered multiple appetizers and entrees for each. Everything was fresh and had AMAZING flavor. Highly recommend!
Such a delightful meal! Great wine and drink choices, the server was very sweet and attentive.
