Majority of the times I have enjoyed Athens, but my last visit wasn't pleasant. The waitress was unattentive and had to go back for things that was already asked for. I was also disappointed with the food.

The menu is extensive. The chicken and dumpling soup I had was great and so was the boasted chicken-I highly recommend. Mashed potatoes and gravy were a little bland and tasted like they were from a box, next time French fries instead.

A nice Greek restaurant. Liver and onions were good (and my friend said his meatloaf was very tasty) and came with soup (clam chowder for me, chicken dumpling for my friend) and dessert (a nice size piece of chocolate cake that was moist with fudge frosting). Service was a bit slow, but our server was overwhelmed by too big a crowd and too few servers.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend too much. Maybe it was just because on an easter buffet thing but, I had gotten terrible food poisoning after eating there. The best thing about there is the staff because they were super nice to my family and were always on top of things.

I got the bowl of soup. It was filling and satisfying with big chuncks of veggies noodles and chicken. I had to eat it in haste but it was well worth it. The bathroom was hard to use for me because of my handcap. However go there. The food is great.

The breakfast specials are a scam and food isn’t that great. I came in with the intent of getting the breakfast special, the waitress asked me what kind of meat I wanted. So I’m under the impression breakfast meat comes with it. I didn’t find out until I got my check that for 3 sausages was $3 more. Don’t waste your time being fooled with the “breakfast specials” and just go to Denny’s, you get way more food for the price.

TLDR: Family diner with great staff, good food, and huge portions with lots of flavor, Menu is too big to have each option perfect, but it's great for anyone who is unsure of what style of food they want. Tourist from Central WI here. Very funny staff, HUGE portions, (We each got two meals out of one order.) Wife and I have over 30 years of restaurant experience between the two of us, so we can be critical of tiny details, but we were both very happy with our personal meals. The only suggestion I would make from the perspective of a previous restaurant manager is a smaller menu, limited to what you can do perfectly, instead of trying to do EVERYTHING well. However, that being said, what we ordered, and what we were given was done VERY well, so I know they have great staff in the back of house who actually care about and put effort into the quality of the food they serve. I would happily come back and order more options from their menu to see if the qaulity rings true, but if this place was in my home town, I'd be there weekly!

Really good food at an amazing price!!! I wasn't really sure what to expect when I came to Athens I was traveling on business it was close to my hotel so I gave it a shot. It's not a fancy place the decor is dated but you will forget all about that after you get your meal. My dinner entree was the roast pork and stuffing. It came with 4 pieces of roasted pork and a very large portion of stuffing also fries, vegetable, soup or salad and wine or dessert all for just $10.95!!! I really couldn't believe it. The food was wonderful and the portion so large I couldn't finish it. I will definitely stop by here again while in the Milwaukee area for business. Staff was extremely nice and courteous.

We just got take out fish fry at Athens. The fish is very good, very tasty and meaty. It is moist and lightly battered. Here's the reason why only two stars: - Portions. Only two pieces of fish? For a takeout, it is pretty measly and the price: $13,95. NOT WORTH IT!!! 9,95 is a way better price. The prices have sky rocketed and the former owner Christopher is no longer associated with the place. The prices for the holiday buffets are 150% of what they used to be. 15 bucks a person up to 37,95 a person. Way good to price yerself out of a very competitive market! Get the prices down and it will be better!

I had the 2 piece beer battered cod. It was really good. They have so many combinations with fish, it's too many to count. First and chicken, fish and chicken and on and on. Great restaurant, I've been going there since the 80's when they were located on 11th and Mitchell.
