Clean place, Friendly staff. First time eating at a local Thai restaurant so I was kind of skeptical at first. I must say though after trying their sampler I left full and quite happy with the foods taste and presentation. Would definitely suggest to anyone.

My wife and I have been to Sumittra twice now. The servers hustle to meet the busy Friday night atmosphere, they were clear about the wait time and delivered satisfactory service. The drunken noodles was the right level of spicy for me. I'm super happy to have this business downtown in Charles Town. I look forward to hitting this location on the regular.

Mostly all of the reviews left here were accurate. Everything we had was great. The flavors were on point. Wait staff was great. We had the Chive Dumpling and it was excellent. The sauce they used made them extra delicious. The Gai Satay was tender and juicy. The Peking Duck roll was great as well and lastly the Chicken Pad Thai was great. We will definitely be back. Can't believe we waited so long to try this place. Nice decor as well.

We had a loud mouth waiter that smoked in the doorway.when bringing us our eating utensils he stopped to bop the waitress on the head before bringing them to our table. The food is soso. I have eaten alott of Thai but this was my least favorite and for the price point I was expecting more. It seems that the owners are trying to be hip instead of worrying about the bland rice, wilted old garnish on our apatizer and the overall presentation of our food that was nothing like the window. Like the guy above me, I wanted to love this place but the service and the painful to substandard food quality will keep me away.

Surprisingly good food for such a small town. The kitchen and the serve we very accommodating when we asked for an off the menu option for our daughter. That dish was our favorite, although the other two were delicious as well. That, plus half off bottle of wine during happy hour, won us over. We'll definitely go back if we are in town again!

My wife and I love Thai food and waited months for the opening of the Restaurant. We really wanted to love this restaurant, but it has some work to do to make us regular customers. The place just opened so some hiccups should be expected. The service there was good. All of the servers we encountered were clearly still learning the menu and the culture of a Thai restaurant, but they were friendly, enthusiastic and responsive to our needs. I expect service will get even better in the near future. The menu was comprehensive without appearing too ambitious. For an appetizer, we ordered Crab Star, which was essentially cream cheese and crab meat deep fried in a wonton. It was served a little over cooked, causing a burnt flavor in the wonton to overwhelm the flavor of the filling. We also ordered Ka-Pro shrimp. The flavor was good and it was cooked properly, but the dish we were served skimped on the vegetables. In contrast, a table near us was served the same dish and seemed to have a healthy portion of vegetables in the dish. The final dish was their Pad Thai. We both found the dish to be way too sweet. Besides that, the noodles were chopped short. This is a dish that clearly needs work on their recipe. We will go back to try some of the other dishes, but they need to fix at least one of their recipes, and be more consistent with portion controls and be more careful with the fryer to keep us a regulars. Until then when we want good Pad Thai, we will head towards Fairfax.

The food is always good but the service is seriously lacking - I've been here several times and no one has ever been very nice. Twice ive ordered pick up and they have not honored their online prices even when I have shown them what is listed on their website. I enjoy the food but after the last time when the bartender just threw the menu at me and then walked away when I asked about the bill and then my order was shoved over the counter I do not think I will be back again. They need to learn a little customer service

Sumittra offers Charles Town its first upscale-but-still-casual restaurant, and a Thai restaurant at that! One can always rely on great-tasting food and excellent service while dining in a relaxed and cozy environment when they stop by.

This restaurant would be a great date night place. I took my kids here and didn't find it super kid friendly. The food is pretty delicious. Kind of on the pricey side but the dishes we had were worth it. The only down side for me is that it had a very "Ashburn" feel. I lived in Ashburn and well I moved for a reason. So if there were any cons that would be the one. I will be back even if it's for take out due to the food being that good.

They messed up and gave us someone else's to go order, and we had to drive all the way back to exchange it. They were very hesitant on even giving us a free dessert when we asked them for our inconvenience, at first telling us they were out, and how about fried rice instead. I got the chu chee salmon, which was very dried out and rubbery. My wife got the pad thai tofu, which she said was good. Their prices are way too high for what you get. I will not be coming back.

The chicken Pad Thai and mango with sticky rice are awesome! So glad to finally have a Thai restaurant in Charles Town. I have been to the Summitra in Frederick which was delicious and as a resident of Harpers Ferry, I was elated to find out there was one in Charles Town. Will definitely be going again soon!

Ordered take out from here the other night and it was very good. Penang chicken curry and shrimp Pad Thai were both delicious. Since it was takeout I really can't speak to the atmosphere, but I didn't see too many changes from when it was Dish. I only gave four stars because the portion of rice they gave with the curry was extremely small and with a dish like Penang curry, you need a lot of rice to soak up the yummy sauce. It's also on the pricey side, so not a place I would eat at weekly but would be great for a date night. Oh and as of last week they didn't have a liquor license, so it's BYOB. Overall, I really liked Sumittra and I'll be back soon for sure.

First time trying this place on Valentine's Day and it was absolutely magnificent. We are Thai food connoisseurs and very picky but the crispy duck is out of this world and their Curry is very good. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and did a great job. I'm glad we found the place near home which offers this quality food.

A real gem for Charles Town! Excellent Thai food. I had the Pad Med Mumuang, and my wife had the Pad Thai (both with chicken). Both were expertly prepared and tasted fantastic! Portion sizes were quite respectable. Service was prompt and polite. There's no doubt we'll be repeat customers. Do yourself a favor, and treat yourself to some great Thai food.

Definitely a great addition to downtown Charles Town. The staff is friendly and helpful, and were able to answer all our questions. So far, in our several visits, we have tried a wide variety of their offerings, and haven't found anything even sub-par. Can highly recommend their currys... we have tried most varieties, and found them all great.

As advertised, very good for $$ restaurant. Really good mixtures of flavors. If you just have to have heat spicy, the dry pepper on the tray is a bit hotter than the wet pepper in fish oil. Liked the satay small dish and mixed fried rice. The spring rolls were very good if you like the crunch, but still good if you like the veggies. The server was very pleasant and professional.

Tried this on a whim - was not disappointed. The duck rolls are amazing - not overly breaded and the duck is very tender. The sauce just rolls it all together perfectly. My favorite dish thus far is the drunken noodles with shrimp - everything tastes very fresh and is not overly greasy. We have gone back several times and are becoming regulars - the food has remained consistent! Service is friendly. Good mixed drinks. This is a real hidden gem in Charles Town.

Drunken noodles are my favorite dish. I travel a lot across the northeast and I can honestly say this is the best serving of this dish I have ever tasted. My only regret is that I order an appetizer and could not finish my dinner. The staff and waitress were very pleasant.

Fantastic food, friendly and efficient service, and comfortable atmosphere - a wonderful addition to downtown Charles Town. I work in DC and have eaten (the same dish) at all the 'best' DC Thai restaurants, and Sumittra Charles Town's drunken noodles beats every one of them, hands down! To put the experience over the top, the bartender came over and offered wine tastings of three different bottles he had opened - no charge! Who does that!? It was brilliant. We were a party of six, three generations, and everyone ordered something different. There were raves all around. I can't wait to come back.

Food is good. Ambiance is nice. Green curry is the best dish I tried. Panang is less spicy than I’m used to, so that’s a good choice for those who don’t like heat. The pad thai is not too sweet (which is good), but could have used a little spice.

Sumittra is ALWAYS a ace that is guaranteed to be good! We eat there several times a month and the food is always deliciously tasteful and flavorful! I love the Beef Bulgogi Dumplings and the Panang Shrimp. My hubby loves the Spring Rolls, Noodle Trio, and Pad Tai. Everything there is great and staff is always knowledgeable about their menu. Sumittra is a must go to place!

Wow! At the car track and one of the competitors tried it and raved about it. Went the next night and was completely surprised by the quality of the food. I had Massaman Curry and the other person had chicken with some sort of vegetable sauce we has pad thai. All was great! Im from NYC and I love Thai food this was the equal of any from The City. Charles Town is a bit food challenged so this is a welcome addition. Hope they make it i want to return.

This place is a new local gem. We finally got a chance to try it out and the food was so good. We had the curry puffs for an appetizer and my wife had Pad Thai and I had Shrimp Pad Med Mamuang. For dessert we had Kow Niew Mamuang (Sticky rice with Mango). All of the food was excellent. The curry puffs were something we will both crave. The food was perfect portion and perfect spice. If there is one complaint it was that the Kow Niew needed a tad more coconut sauce but I only say that because it was so dang good and we wanted more I am very happy to have local Thai food in Charles Town that rivals the best places I have gone. This place will be getting a lot of business from us.

Fragrant curries and jasmine rice that goes down quickly. Delicious selections that are freshly prepared. Kind and attentive wait staff. Large open interior with benches and chairs, open, and spacious. Feels private despite and relatively quiet despite there being a steady crowd during most lunch and dinner times. For those who dig Thai food, this place does not disappoint!

I have no idea what the entrees taste like, it took 4 pf.us just to get through 6 apps.... the foot was great and on time, server was very fast with waters and drinks.. this is not my favorite style food but they had so much variety that I found some stuff I really liked and had to fight people at my table for, thanks for the great time... Food is pretty decent but old garnishing. The scallion onions were totally discolored and not fresh at all. I had a to go order and the waitress was totally rude and unfriendly. I eat thai food a lot in Sterling VA. and the prices in Sterling are way cheaper than what I pay here and the quality of restaurant are about the same. This restaurant has great potential and I will give them another try....

The first great Asian Fusion restaurant in Charles Town. This is very well the best restaurant in town. The decor was great, the atmosphere upbeat, busy and very trendy. We were greeted right away and seated. Service was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was absolutely wonderful. Wonderful blend of flavors blended to create a fantastic food experience. The portions may actually be too large. They could maintain their pricing, limit their portions and still have their rating. The herbs were fresh. We had the Moo Yang, a grilled Thai style marinated pork loin served with green papaya salad, jasmine rice and Thai style sweet chili sauce. I have never had a better pork loin anywhere. It had the presentation of a steak and was perfect cooked, served hot and had a perfect searing on the outside while very moist and tasty. Beef dumpling for appetizer that tasted great and the sauce was wonderfully complimentary of the dumplings. Bangkok beef stir fry, with a hint of fresh ginger. Tasted great! I highly suggest you add this to your places to try!

DELICIOUS. Had the Bulgogi, larb, and Kow Pad Ka Prao. Ordered the ladder Thai hot, it wasn't as hot as I expected it to be, but the fried basil on top was a great touch. Every time I visit my wife's family near here I come eat at Sumittra because you can't beat it.

I have been to this restaurant several time since it first opened. As a local resident, I am thrilled to have another dining option I can walk to and bring friends and family. The service is great, the food is incredible, and the prices are reasonable. I am addicted to the curry puffs and Thai iced tea - the perfect lunch. Might have to stop in for some today... If going for dinner on a weekend night, I would recommend calling ahead because they have been a popular spot these days!
