On our vacation there we were so excited to to try this place out. The interior was amazing but the waitress was below standards . We had our grandson with us he's 2 we were not offered anything for him to sit in . We had to wait it's almost like our waitress was to young to realize that kids can't just sit at the table like a adult! Our food came and it wasn't near what the website made it to be! Big disappointment from start to finish. Oh and when the bill came it was $$$$$$$ for under rated food and service.

Visiting from out of town we found the hidden gem of Elkins! Food was fantastic, staff were polite and knowledgeable about the menu items and the setting is rustic and comfy! A truly memorable dining experience. Will definitely return for another round of burnt ends and double bit mules on our next trip!

Service, atmosphere, salad and soups, and potential were all great the first time at Smoke on the Water. Price was reasonable as well. Presentation and execution from the kitchen via presented entrees needs work, but was acceptable. I didn't scrub hard to think about it too much, cleanliness seemed to be in order. I would definitely eat again and delve further into the menu, and learn what the house does most best at SOTH. Good initial visit, thumbs up.

Pretty decent food family oriented. A bit expensive but not too bad for 2 a family of 4 or 5 well is what it is. Dont look forward to being on a lake its just a mountian creek that probaly dries up in July and August. Does have inside and outside dining in the warmer months and musical entertainment on weekends. All in all decent place

Live music was great for a weekend dinner. We ordered a $23 sampler and food was great. Four different sauces. I mixed the river sauce with so called spicy sauce and it was fantastic. Plenty of food for two.

Very Good Restaurant with a nice outside dining setting along the creek. We have dined here several times and like the atmosphere and service provided. The burnt ends appetizer is the best smoked BBQ offer on the menu. They call it meat candy, it was a great tasting recipe. The smoked meats come with a good sauce they make there. The smoked meat and fish they prepare is light on the smoke and needs the flavor of the sauce to help them out. The smoke here is a very light smokey flavor, not the Texas traditional style that allows the meat to stand on its own. The Sunday special was very good, mushrooms in a cream sauce in a rice/couscous mixture. Deserts we sampled were a raspberry cheesecake and brownie sundae both very good. Thanks for a good meal. Fabulous food! Would go back for sure. Loved the whole layout of the place. The metal chairs on the outside deck could use a cushion (waffle butt) Luckily I had one in my car. Also, would like to see caps on sauce bottles on the outside tables. (The flys loved the sauces as much as we did)

Sometimes the food is hot, fresh and cooked to specification, and sometimes it is not. But, when it is good, it is very good. The wait staff is also hit or miss. There are couple of sweet ones who try very hard, but a few who very obviously do not like you or their job by the way they stand in little groups, stare at people and whisper. During warm weather, the outer deck and the mixed drinks are always awesome.

The Burnt Ends were delicious. My served was a young girl who kept quoting prices, as if I couldn't afford the food, but was replaced by a much more mature and seasoned server, which changed my opinion of the place. Nice atmosphere and a good margarita.

You walk in, the atmosphere is great. Well thought out restaurant. The service is prompt and friendly. They were kind of busy this evening when we stopped so I assumed it would be a bit of a wait for food. Turns out I was wrong. The food was very quick considering the amount of people they had. The food was great and service was exceptional. If you haven't stopped in to check them out yet, you should!

As BBQ goes in Texas this place wasnt good. We weren't in Texas so we tried it. The shrimp was decent. It was on the Sampmer Platter. Horse radish cole slaw wasn't horse radish cole slaw. I paid extra for it.

The food here is alright, if you enjoy smoked meat. With exposed wooden beams, a fireplace, and an outdoor dining area the restaurant is charming, but we were not blown away by the menu or the food. For two to dine (half smoked chicken dinner, grilled meatloaf sandwich, fried green tomatoes) the bill came to almost $48. For that amount I would have expected the food to be much better. The sandwich was greasy, the chicken not as done as we would have liked, and the green tomatoes thinly sliced, and heavily breaded. Not worth the cost.

Very attractive decor. Smoked chicken wrap was excellent as was the Magoo burger that my husband ate. I enjoyed the house potato chips that were a little thicker and extra crispy. Then the raspberry cheese cake was the best I've ever eaten!

Nice place decent beer selection but food was meh, and they also added a 18% tip to my bill without telling me and I ended up tipping them on top of that and didn't realize my error until returning home to PA. Sent a nice email letting them know and tried to work out with them but had to dispute with American Express to get my money back.

Always fantastic food. We've been there a few times and everything has always been phenomenal. Wait staff is attentive and courteous and pleasant. This is a wonderful gem around Elkins, WV. Go hungry for some great BBQ and you won't leave hungry or disappointed.

Great atmosphere and food and we had live music! Our server, Carlee, was friendly and attentive despite having her hands full with a large section to take care of. Their ribs are full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The sauces were all excellent. If you're looking for a tangy sauce, a mix of the river sauce and the spicy BBQ is great. Otherwise, for a sweet sauce, the mild BBQ and the spicy BBQ are excellent. The beer list is almost entirely from WV which was cool. Great place!

This was our first time visiting Elkins, WV. We like to try local restaurants To experience the culture. This restaurant is amazing! Our waiter, Blake, was very friendly and on top of everything. Very pleasant! We had the burnt ends and the super sampler. The food was absolutely phenomenal! My husband is from Texas and he said that was the best bbq since leaving Texas. We will definitely be back!

Great bbq and great seating. They have outdoor seating, both covered and uncovered. It is a pricier restaurant for the area so we only go with family and large groups but it is always worth it. Great food and drink selections and always ... always recommended getting the burnt ends. Delicious.

We always try to eat local when visiting other towns. We met the owner when she stopped by our table to remove our used plates. When an owner is willing to clean tables, this is a sign of leadership to me. Hats off to Denise and John for spending a few minutes with us. The wings were some of the best I have ever had. The restaurant has an array of seating options, inside, where there are so many antique and rustic decorations. A covered patio with access to the outside covered bar. Or the uncovered patio area. The Smoked Pulled Pork is ABSOLUTELY the best. Large portion along with fried and 5 different sauces that are brought to your table for you to use. The freshly caught salmon is delicious. I have never had anything off their menu that was not delicious. Great atmosphere.

Very solid BB&Q for WV. The atmosphere and service make it a must visit location. If the weather is nice enough request to be seated on the deck. The closer to the little creek the better! We we're pleasantly surprised to have some live music while we ate.

This place has a great atmosphere. The food is passable, but there are better options around. The last time I was there, the Cole slaw was too hot. I complained, but the only response I got was that the cashier would let the kitchen know. I am not impressed.

Originally had high hopes for this place as we were looking for something authentic for extending our mountain train excursion we had just finished. Unfortunately the service was VERY slow. Got down right embarrassing. We even felt like we were forgotten. We were not placed at a table out of the way either, we were right near the drink station and regularly walked eating area. Food portions while yummy, were small in comparison to price. Especially for appetizers. Later, when we finally received our food, we were told they had a electricity problem and had to restart their grills etc. However, we were still served luke warm food and no offer to compensate at all for the major inconvenience. So sad cause the atmosphere inside and out was great and offered great promise for a great experience... too bad it was not that way for us.

We were here about a year ago and it was good. Today we went and it was not good. We tried the ribs, chicken wings, brisket & pulled pork. Nothing tasted smoked. Not good. From the name we figured everything was smoked, tasted like it was all baked.

Good food, great service! My co-workers and I were in Elkins for the Grand Opening of our newest Busy Beaver store. I made reservations on Friday afternoon for a group of 16 for that night at 7. At 6:30, I called to add 4 more to our reservation and they had no problem doing it! We were seated right away and our server greeted us shortly after. I ordered a Chocolate Raspberry Martini - delicious! The Hippy Juice was super tasty, too! I ordered the Philly brisket wrap. We didn't have to wait very long for our food, which surprised me since there were so many of us! The food was hot and delicious! If I get the chance to dine there again, I'm trying the smoked meatloaf, which was recommended by 2 of my co-workers.

The food was great. Absolutely loved the garlic mashed potatoes. Way too much for me to eat. The dry rub is enough seasoning for me. I did try a small amount of the mild BBQ sauce, just did not need it. If you want to add sweet with a kick try the river sauce. The veggies were the only thing that brought me down to a 4. Obviously microwaved and frozen, to be expected in winter. I would have scored them 4.75 if I could have.

Amazing restaurant. Saw this place on the side of the road. I ordered ribs with BBQ beans and fries. They were DELICIOUS. Our server, Carlee, was wonderful to us. Yay Carlee! I loved the ribs (and if any of y'all want it, the Carolina BBQ is great on the fries!!). Awesome live music on Saturdays, and would totally go here any time we are in Elkins.
