Currently this business has a score of 4.5 stars out of 5 and that score has been calculated on 262 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is virtually the highest, and it is founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the rating is very accurate. If people have bothered to value when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to give feddbacks when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Indian restaurant.
Absolutely delicious!! We ordered the dinner platters and there was so much food. Wonderful atmosphere and the buttered naan...yum!
Excellent food. The decor could use a little updating, but this was a nice find in Charleston. Note the prices are on the higher end.
it's not all you think. The food at the buffet will sit there until the next day and maybe two don't go there what they do is they add water to the food and microwave it Please DONT go there save your money go to pies and pints or somewhere else just anywhere that's not there
Great food and friendly amazing staff! great prices.
Good food and a very friendly place
Everything was amazing! The food was delicious, the booths are very comfortable, there is nice Indian decor and music. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you come in for dinner when the buffet isn't Vailable I highly recomend the non vegetarian Thali, especially if you have trouble choosing or would like to try a few different things. This is basically a sampler of three entries with some sides, a desert, and tea included. The food is delicious and flavorful, and they will adjust the spices level to your taste, so don't be afraid if you want to try indian food but don't want something super spicey.
Fantastic service! We’re vegan and they took the time to go over all of our options and even made us a special dish not even on the menu. They remembered us the second time we came, and had the dish ready. We will definitely be back!
Great food and service!
Great buffet option, don't eat much Indian food but really good!
Wonder food and great quiet location. Will come again for sure.
The food was absolutely delicious, flavorful and filling in the best way. The server was attentive and helpful, and the restaurant itself was cozy and comfortable. I would highly recommend it to anyone in search of good food and a friendly environment. As a food tip, I would recomment the naan; it’s some of the best naan I’ve had!
The food and service were absolutely amazing!!!
Excellent buffet with 8-10 vegetarian options and very good service
Nice food
Excellent food, and even more excellent people. We came on a slow night and had the nicest and most attentive waiter ever. Convenient location and comfortable seats.
Excellent food in a clean environment. Friendly staff.
Food is very delicious and fresh and the staff is also very friendly. Perfect place to eat here I'm loving it
Good Food. Lamb Rogan Josh was pretty good. Also the Masala tea was great! Try the Peshawari Naan, it was very tasty
Has always had quality food
By far the best Indian I have had in a long time. The staff is amazing and are always going out of their way to make your experience better.
I have loved this place for years!!! A pleasure every visit!!! Very friendly and helpful, clean and comfy :) lunch time is the best time to visit if you've never tried Indian/ they have plenty of dishes to choose from...my kids were little when we first started eating here....now my grown daughter calls me and plans our lunch dates at our same table :) ah the memories ...
Great food but service was exceptional. We came after closing time and they still opened the restaurant for us. I would highly recommended this.
I had never eaten India food but I tried Sitar of India and they are awesome. Great atmosphere, food and service. Will go back again.
I've enjoyed Indian cuisine in Middle East and the US. This spot deserves a star. By far the lamb Biryani in Hot and Spicy is an immitation, an Amalgam of Basmati Rice, peas, big slices of green pepper, and tiny chops of meat. The Chicken 65 tastes like food coloring in the palate, you cannot feel a bit of turmeric or ginger garlic in your tongue. For all these my bill is 40 dollars. It was by far, the worst. I'm not going back.
Best food ever!!! Owners and staff are wonderful! Go eat here!!!!
Hospitality and food really good
Food is ok.. not as good as the actual Indian food
Amazing food! We will make a special stop next time we are driving past Charleston!
Amazing Indian food. Family owned business and very friendly people. They make you feel at home. Got to eat North Indian food after a long time...
Very well seasoned Indian food. Great desserts.
One of the best India restaurant I have ever been! I am just traveling to the Charleston from a big city and I am very picky for food, from its looking and more importantly the taste. 5 stars is definitely rare for me to give. But this restaurant is one of them. If you are looking for an authentic India food, not a modified American style, then you are coming to the right place. I ordered the fish & shrimp Marsala which is not on the menu (but the owner made it for me), garlic nan and mango drink. I am very happy with all of them. The Marsala source is very rich and creamy, the species used for this dish is fantastic. I can’t help to eat it all. You have to try it to experience it.
We had a terrific experience at this restaurant. The food was great! The service was wonderful. Our server was very nice and friendly. We over heard the waiter talking to a nearby table and when he found out that on of the patrons was vegan he said he thought that there might be butter in the food so he had the guests dinner remade and also had naan bread made vegan for him. I was so impressed because the patron had neglected to mention that he was vegan before he ordered. This restaurant seems to want to make sure their customers have a good experience.
This afternoon was my second time at Sitar of India. Both times I had their lunch buffet and it was absolutely delicious. It is reasonably priced for the quality of food. The staff is pleasant and efficient.
Best Indian food
Best Indian buffet in Charleston for lunch. Many options frequently changes...deep fried cauliflower and aloo tikki are my favorites.
Never have a such a tasty food
Very nice food! Awesome taste and embracing ambience.. Will visit again!
Sitar of India is one of the best restraints in Charleston.
Worst taste ever. Nothing was upto the mark. Not worthy food for the money paid. We didn’t like one of the item and the guy over there responded that -“only problem is with indians” this is the worst answer that he could give being an Indian. I hope they will improve their behaviour for the next time.
Food was so good and they were kind enough to walk me through their vegan options or options they could make vegan! Will be here again soon!!!
The first time I had Indian food. The staff was excellent, the food was even better, and half of the buffet was vegetarian (that may be normal, but it is still pleasing to a vegetarian). On my next trip I ordered from the menu and it was even better. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the market for... Food.
My second visit in about 10 years while I was in town on business. It was as good as I remembered. Excellent Indian food, friendly service, and nice atmosphere. Check out the Sitar of India if you are in the area.
I love their buffet! Super delicious and great variety!
Very good and tasty food. And friendly staff
Amazingly friendly staff. Great food. Thanks!
Amazing experience ! We travelled 60 miles to find a good Indian restaurant in West Virginia. This place was a pleasant surprise ! What an amazing hospitality and homely feel .Food was amazing.
The food was excellent. I really liked the Lamb Korma with rice. Staff was very courteous and polite.
Good food
Very disappointing service and quality of food is pathetic. I have been to various Indian restaurants across America this is absolutely the lowest quality food. I feel like you need to up your standards. Interior feels like we are in a very cheap Asian place. The music seemed OK. Most importantly for the two guys working there (I believe one of them is a owner) don’t talk in your language when you are with a customer. I felt awkward. Why do you advertise as FINE North Indian cuisine. Do you guys even know what a fine cuisine looks like? The only thing that I liked is
sitar of india has some of the best food you can eat in charleston. everything's always so fresh and their staff is very courteous.
Quality and variety of food items was good. Enjoy the level of heat of the chicken chili as well as the curry dishes.
Delicious food and excellent service.
The best Indian food you can get in Charleston right now. Little India used to be the best but dropped significantly after changing hands. Nawab just opened and they have better palak paneer than Sitar, but for everything else I've tried Sitar is better (and more flavorful/spiced). Edit: update, they gave me milk for my eye today when I accidentally touched it after a spicy pepper. This place is still the best in the area.
Great food. Amazing Naan.
The best! The food and staff are amazing! Everyone is so friendly and personable. I’ve been to all the Indian restaurants in Charleston and none even compare! Sitar is the best! My favorite place!
Superb food and service. Excellent buffet. Special events on holidays! I have been a patron of this establishment since 1992. I come twice a week or more. My favorite restaurant! A true family experience!
Great food and friendly folks - they even cut the salt when I ask them.
Great place to eat! I like how they have different options from day to day. Staff is very personable and ready to accommodate.
I am a vegan and I live in Florida. So my options are limited here. This a great place to eat for vegans as well. Lunch buffet is filled with many options to choose from for the vegans. Dinner time they make a vegan bread just for me it's awesome it's made ot of chick pea flour and some other ingredients. It's awesome I love it. So if you're a vegan I recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Very friendly atmosphere and the staff is AWESOME.
This restaurant is amazing! It’s family owned, and one of the owners spent so much time talking to us and explaining the menu, recommending items and even letting us try an appetizer! The chicken tiki masala was the best we’ve ever had! I recommend the coconut naan (or bread) to dip in the chicken tiki masala. Food, service, staff and restaurant was amazing! Highly recommend
Absolutely excellent food! The waiter asked me for my spice level and the flavor/heat did not let me down. Service was excellent.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. The staff is really friendly and the food is fantastic. Always a great stop for lunch
Wonderful friendly staff
Some of best Indian food anywhere! I like it spicy and they weren't afraid to bring the heat!
Place loaded with flies
Delicious but messy and there was a roach in my takeaway bag. Will eat there again, but am nervous about cleanliness.
Wonderful Food and the best service around!
Very delicious food i visited last month....o yep
Very good buffet!
Excellent food and staff
Place away from Home. Have been frequenting Sitar since long. Love the food and Service. Frequent this restaurant often. Have the choicest of Indian food and curries, backed by excellent service. Keep it up!
Lamb vindaloo is my standard order in all Indian restaurants and tonight I had the wteriest light brown gravy ever. Skimpy portion of lamb. Huge potatoe Scant onion. No chilies no bell pepper Paid the most I have ever paid for my favorite dish. Naan was like a pancake. Flour used was unrecognizable Appeared fried like Not oven baked. Tamarind also watery. Cut a lot of corners for top price
Delicious malai kafta and garlic naan meal!!! Walked in 15 minutes till close and they treated me like family. Would happily eat here again, a menu that large deserves exploration, well worth it.
Quality of food and service has improved since our last visit. 11 to 11:30 is a great time to try your buffet places .. when things are fresh.
Finding NO healthy place to eat in Charleston, I was so happy I found Sitar of India. Superb dining. Wonderful selection! I like it HOT and he provided it. Its not always easy to eat vegetarian when I travel so THANK you so much for having a great selection.
Really great food and the staff is very friendly
Fantastic service, above and beyond. The food is superb!
We went in with very high expectations after reading the reviews only to be disappointed and how! The food was easily 3-4 days old, taste was compromised and several items from the buffet were barely even cooked. The only highlight was the owner/manager.
Awesome food. Awesome service!!!
Good food. lil skimpy on meat portions
Outstanding flavor! Lunch Buffet is excellent.
Good if you like spicy food. Just too spicy for me.
As an Indian I’d say it’s the best place for Indian food in Charleston. If you’re confused about the order ask the people working for advice. They’re very jovial and helpful. They’ll make sure you get what you’re looking for. They’re samosas are a must try!
Delicious food , Friendly staff . Don’t miss the blend of yogurt. You will love it.
Best Samosas ever.
This is the best and most authentic Indian restaurant place in Charleston - WV. Their food is always delicious. The place is very clean and the staff is amazingly nice! I suggest you try their lunch buffet. You will be able to try all kinds of Indian dishes. Needless to say, the price is on point. Very affordable. Great place to go with friends or family for great food.
Excellent food taste and quality with variety of food options in buffet..a must try restaurant if anyone visiting charleston...
Great food. We came after closing time, they opened the store for us, didn't let us go hungry. Cooked food for us and both father son were very hospitable. They spoke to us in Punjabi and made it feel like eating at home, would very highly recommend to everyone.
Absolutely delicious! The staff is always extremely friendly and the food is amazing. We usually get the chicken tikki masala and poori bread, but it seems like you can’t go wrong with any dish!
Taste like real Indian food, very clean, good customer service
The service was incredible! The restaurant had a great atmosphere, and the guy serving us was very kind. We were just traveling through charleston, but we felt very welcomed by the city as a whole after our visit here. Oh, and the food was amazing too.
The staff is friendly and the food is delicious.
Delivered food there
My favorite Indian cuisine restaurant.
Food is good. I wouldn't say the best Indian chef in world, but they cook pretty good. Try the buffet at lunchtime (between 12 and 2 I think). It's not expensive and you get to taste all items to find out your favorite.
Excellent food. Great service. I bought a take away for my wife 5hr drive away after tasting their cooking! I was a star!
Good food.
The buffet is delicious and the staff is very friendly.
Excellent food and a very friendly staff. I've been there for the lunch buffet and for dinner and I have never been disappointed. Do yourself a favor and visit soon.
The best 3 words to describe this place.... RUDE, Bland, did I say RUDE! I understand there may be cultural differences from people who are originally from another country. BUT, I expect to be treated as I would treat others. I ordered and was not pleased with what I was served. I asked to see a menu so I could order something else, well... I guess this was a mistake!!! Never once did I complain, ask for something free or a discount, I chalked it up to simply not liking that dish and thought I'd try something else. Well, that was the begining of the end. From that moment on I was treated rudely, you could also tale I was being talked about in their native tongue (the pointing pretty much gave that away), Because of this I decided not to each the food. I paid for everything I ordered, but I will never go back. I love to try new foods, but if your looking for an enjoyable experience, this is NOT the place!!!
They do some food very well.
This is my favorite restaurant in West Virginia and maybe the world. The vegetarian options are always great and abundant and the people treat you like family.
We were traveling from out of town and I went on a gut instinct to try this resturant. Oh my goodness! From the moment we walked in The gentleman working were amazing. I told them I eat a Vegan diet and they were more than happy to take any of the plates and veganize them for me. My friends and I each got a different dish and all three blew my taste buds away. I would highly recommend this spot.
Husband and I Enjoyed the food as usual. Very busy but food was plentiful and fresh.
Great food with amazingly friendly service. One of my favorite places to come.
I really love the lunch buffet!
My go-to India in town
LOVE the food and atmosphere. Everyone so nice and accommodating. Eat there alot
Authentic Indian cuisine, great service at a good price.
I had a great experience there the food was delicious and my server was very attentive.
Best food EVER
I had my worst experience at an Indian restaurant ever here. The quality was really bad. I am a real fan of Indian food, but I would never go here again.
There are few options for Indian food in Charleston, WV. Me and my friend ordered non-veg thali. Meat items seemed to be under cooked and and gravy was not too good. Zeera rice was literally floating in the oil. This is not the first time it happened to us. Please be careful before you order anything there.
Very good. Last couple times Saag was “grainy”. Not sure if it had too much spinach stalk. Couldn’t eat it. Hate that because I like sitar better than little India.
Sitar is first india restaurant in WV since 1991 I love sitar I never review because it’s my best restaurant ever. First time the guy request for my review. I want to told him you are my best all time .love you Sitar
Nasty and there was bugs in the food
Food is always great and staff is very accommodating. The Tikka Misala chicken is always our favorite.
I enjoy myself every time I eat here
My family has eaten here for years. This is the best place for Indian food in the entire Charleston area. They are very family friendly, and the kids love it just as much as we do (not just because of the mango lassi). You can also spice to your preference, so if you can't handle the heat - just order mild. I prefer inferno hot, but the kids can't take it yet. We love sitar, and we'll continue eating there for years to come.
First time and it was worth a second time
Good place to be in
The food is wonderfully delicious!
Perfect place to eat! Everyone was very friendly and food was delicious. My suggestion is getting a side of the bread with coconut in it, Yum! Will definitely be back when i am in the area again.
Great restaurant!! Clean and fantastic service!
This is one of best restaurant i have been to very good service friendly and professional buffet
Excellent meal on a Sunday night . Friendly owners and the food (lamb Rohan Josh and chicken tikka ) was beyond tasty. The new indian beers were a great touch to the the meal. Can’t recommend enough.
It's the best Indian restaurant in the state!
Great food, excellent service! Highly impressive business
No doubt the food was good and the staff was friendly. However, there are few things that made me unsatisfied. 1. Food was good but it wasn't warm and there was no steam coming out of the food. For best taste, curry dishes should be warm enough. I say, piping hot! 2. We got chicken Tikka Masala and lamb Rogen Josh. There was not much difference whatsoever in their gravy. They used same gravy / curry sauce for both the dishes. Not so cool! We even asked our server what's the difference between the two, he never mentioned they're so similar. 3. Naan supposed to be thicker than chapati / roti. But guess what? It was the other way around. Overall, our visit was not bad. We asked him to make it very spicy and he did that which made us happy because, " if it ain't spicy, it ain't good!"
I eat number of Indian restaurant In USA. I think one of the best I ever had before.
The food was delicious. The samosas were perfect! My wife had the Chana Masala and loved it. I had the chicken curry and it was great. The service was great also. We will be going back soon.
Great food. Hot!!!!!!!
Delicious amazing food, wonderful staff
Sitar of India is a wonderful dining experience. The servers and people who own the business are very kind and caring and make sure the customers have everything they need. They always keep a smile on your face because they are so outgoing and friendly! The food is absolutely delightful! It's some of the best Indian I've ever had; it's the perfect level of spicy and is very flavorful! I highly recommend Sitar to anyone who wants to have a tasty meal with wonderful service!
Good Indian food and great atmosphere.
food quality is very good their chicken tikka masala is awesome
Food was delicious. Staff was very friendly. This was our first time here and they made us feel so welcome. The bread was so amazing. We are definitely going back again. Give them a try. If you have any questions, they will give you recommendations from the menu. If you dont like things too spicy, just let them know.
Very delicious food.
This place is EPIC!!! Hands down the best Indian restaurant in the state. The food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. The staff is very friendly and the service is top notch! Am I going back? Why wouldn’t I?? If you’re not eating at Sitar, you’re missing out.
Such an amazing restaurant, I absolutely loved the food!!!!!
Nice food with nice staff Good quality and quantity
I tried their vegetarian thaali which was quite good. I only visited Charleston once so can’t compare Sitar’s food to other Indian places in the city but it was undoubtedly above-average in taste.
A rare evening buffet at Sitar was a real treat. The goat curry was a stand out dish. The always reliable saag paneer and tandoori chicken were great and many delicious veggie dishes. A great value and tremendous selection.
God bless you Both keep it up
You will get Authentic North Indian Thali at Best Price Try Gulab Jamun And Non veg Thali
Sitar always provides excellent food and service! Much preferred over other local Indian restaurants. Try the lamb saag, coconut soup, and kheer, you won't be disappointed!!!
Best Indian food in the Charleston area in my opinion. Owners are extremely friendly, reasonably priced, relaxed environment, and an all around great place for lunch and dinner.
Awesome food and great service top notch highly recommend it for you to try I've been eating there for 20 years plus
We struck up a conversation with our waiter and he was as friendly as he could be! Don’t be afraid to ask questions & trust their recommendations.
Food and service was excellent!
Love the food, atmosphere & workers! Great food, great prices & everyone is so friendly and helpful if you're new to the food and not sure what to order!
Good food and friendly staff!
Best saag paneer I've ever had.
Everything was wonderful. The flavors were intricate and delicious. All very well made with great ingredients. Very friendly staff as well
Great Indian food.
Amazing quality food to compliment a great cozy atmosphere. As a North Indian, I also found great love and comfort in seeing that the food and staff (family-ran?) reminded me much of home. One of Charleston’s best!
My favorite restaurant. Great food and friendly staff. My whole family enjoys it.
Great food and great ambiance. Definitely would recommend this place over Little India
