You know that we don't usually stop to give scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Chinese restaurant.
Had fried rice and spring rolls. Spring rolls were ok. Rice was pretty good. Needed a little more seasoning but def hit the spot. Price was very reasonable and portions are ridiculous (meaning huge). Give it a try. Not too shabby.
Unique buffet. Wonderful. I would highly recommend.
Very nice remodel, since our last visit . Food and staff were great.
Always good food. I especially love the Rivers Edge Hush Puppies, & Cabbage Soup. The salad is chopped and lots of selections. And they now have Coke Zero!
I arrived about 1:15 for lunch. The only thing available was the hot and sour soup. Had to ask for pepper steak and after a wait, there were no Rangoon’s. very disappointing today. If you’re going to stop making the food, change the hours of your buffet. The device was good as usual.
Very good place 2 eat...just wish they would use fresh vedgies in there fried rice instead of frozen...sorta downgrades there food
Just stepping inside you would expect from how nice it is that nothing on the menu is under $20 but then you look and it's not expensive at all. The food tastes great, the buffet is clean. My only issue is parking and getting back on the main road but noth enough to take a star away.
Always good
Food not at the same quality it was a few years ago. Sushi is good.
Always love their buffet...coconut shrimp is the best!
Ordered their General Tso's Chicken and it was very good. Spicy and not overly sweet just the way I like it.
I liked this place because the shrimp fried rice is really good. Nearly all the food is good. Especially the spring rolls are good with the soy sause. I believe they should add a couple more good items
Old main salad, hush puppies and cabbage soup. Rivers Edge still lives. Great salad. Excellent dressing. Hush puppies with sweet butter is a must try. Cabbage soup is spicy and great tasting. It can also help clear your sinsus.
Great food and atmosphere. Great prices. Highly recommended!
Always good
Best Chinese food in the Charleston area. Good food, good people.
Love this place. Always greats you like family.
The best very small restaurant you must miss it driving around but it is worth stopping and eating there the food is really good when I go to a lot of buffet restaurants I find they I don't really like the food but here I ate 2 plates of food and the meat was very tender definitely a place to stop and eat at
Delicious! Portions were great and prices were very good. Will definitely return.
Good lunch buffet. Regular menu items and sushi are good too.
My favorite Chinese Style establishment. The only buffet I will eat from. The only beef dish on buffet is why I go there. I have never had anything better. Yummy green beans and the perfect Hot-Sour soup. Best time to vist if around 11:20a for lunch buffet is usually set up by then.
I'd had the Rice Bowl's food at some catered lunches at work, but this was my first time visiting the actual restaurant. The food is spectacular Chinese food. I've had several dishes including coconut chicken, the house special chicken and sushi. All were excellent. The restaurant had great service and was exceptionally quick with the food. It's a relaxed atmosphere and very comfortable. A great spot with superb food.
Very friendly service nice and clean
Excellent food, excellent service.
Take out meal was horribly prepared. Wasn't half the quality it usually is. If you go, dine in.
Very nice restaurant for chinese buffet. Food was great and served hot.
Try the hush puppies and cabbage soup! Apparently they’re the same as the old River’s Edge Cafe in St. Albans, WV that closed down back in the day.
Love the new layout. Feels bigger and more efficient. The food was delicious as always !!
Best chinese food around. Cabbage soup is to die for
The buffet is great. Service is great. I want to go back.
Great Chinese food and pleasant atmosphere. They just added a sushi bar which is also quite good, with a decent sushi selection. Try the hushpuppies from the appetizers, they're very sweet and almost like a dessert.
Great food. Friendly service. Best in the area
Love this place. Been here a few times now, some of the best Chinese food in Kanawha county!
Food was good. Service was polite. Not an extremely rememberable experience.
Ordered the chicken and broccoli combination platter and was very disappointed... The hot and sour soup was great, the egg roll was pretty good, but the actual platter was not good at all... The fried rice was just white rice with barely any sauce and still sticky like normal white rice typically is. The chicken tasted strange and the broccoli was very undercooked and hard.
Try the cabbage soup with hush puppies (served with honey butter) and the B Street Chicken salad if you’re not in the mood for Chinese food. Other favorites are the lettuce wraps, orange chicken, & garlic chicken. Really, I’ve never had anything here I didn’t like, and the prices are very reasonable.
This used to be a really good restaurant, just average now. There were no black mushrooms in our sea food soup, just common button mushrooms, the meat was scanty and flavors not as good as in the past.
Food was super good
The dine in experience is amazing; it's probably the best Asian food in terms of taste, quality, and presentation that I know of in West Virginia. *For some reason the take out is usually terrible, as if there's a different chef and selection of food used for that. Strange. Maybe they're encouraging folks to dine in haha. Interesting either way.
There food is good and portions are huge. Best Asian food I've found.
I love the food and service
Food good.
Favorite place to get crab Rangoon. Their lunch buffet is good and offers a large selection
2 words. HUSH PUPPIES! If you like American style Chinese food, and haven't been to the Rice Bowl, you are missing out. Good service, great food quality and low prices. The lunch buffet has a smaller selection than most, but the quality is top notch and at only $6.50.
Excellent service, good priced, hot ready food.
Rice bowl is an amazing local Chinese restaurant that has a very delicious lunch buffet bar! Service is excellent, food hot and fresh. Try the Rivers Edge cabbage soup and sweet hush puppies!
Perfect food. Very reasonable and good service.
Simi service animal friendly. The manager (who said she was the owner when I asked) said she had to had proof it's a service animal and then tried to kick is out and when I asked her name and told her I was going to file an ada complaint she then calls the "owner" and changes her tone. Then they set us in the back hidden out of sight.
Not the best chinese food in the area, but not the worst either
Recently expanded, this is Cross Lanes' Premier Chinese restaurant. Besides Mandarin and Cantonese dishes, the menu also offers Sushi and a selection of the old Rivers Edge menu items. At times there are buffets offered, but a large variety of dishes one can order and drinks both alcoholic and non are served. Orders can be made for in-house dining or carry out. I believe they also delivery to certain areas and have catering options as well. The interior is spacious and a good place to meet groups. I have found it to be kept up well and the staff is kind
Very nice and clean environment. The employees were very helpful and upbeat. I would recommend this place to any of my friends or family members. I never have any problems when I visit here. Great experience!
Food was amazing service was awesome I definitely will be coming back.
Love the chicken lo mein
Against better judgment I reluctantly went to Rice Bowl at the request of my girlfriend. We sat down and were asked our drink order and that was about as good as service got. My girlfriend ordered green tea and never received it. Instead, we were brought and egg roll that we never ordered and then asked 'do you care if I charge you for that?" For what, the green tea you forgot or the egg roll we never ordered? Our food eventually came and it was alright. Out waitress asked if we wanted refills and with dry mouths we confirmed but were again let down: our waitress said "Im sorry I forgot your drinks I got busy." Formerly being waiter/waitresses ourselves we scoffed at the fact she had literally two other tables . Unfortunately I didn't catch her name but if she is your waitress you should just turn around and leave .
Ordered a lot of appetizers and they were fresh and hot and delicious, but the main entree had aleast a full onion in it with very little meat (just onion)!
Been going here for years. Love the service, and the food is tasty.
Food was awesome and so was the server
Best Ragoons. Clean and food is great
I could imagine it would be better earlier in the day but we went around 2:30 and the buffet was pretty emtpy
The best Chinese in the kanawha valley, clean place and staff is friendly. Everything on menu is grear
A little background is in order....I live a hour drive from Rice Bowl, so any trip made is in anticipation of what I've come to expect to ebe the best Chinese food in West Virginia. Today was as disappointed as I've ever been with a takeout meal from there. I love Lo Mein, so I build my meal around that, as it for me, is the foundation for everything else. Tonight, it was maybe the worst Beef Lo Mein I've eaten. The noodles were dry and tasteless, the vegetables were sparse and tough, and the beef was sparse also. In the 5 years I've been eating there, this is the 1st time I've had a bad experience..... I'll have to check the food before I leave next time.....2 hours round trip, not happy....
The best Chinese cuisine in the kanawha valley. Friendly staff excellent food.
I'm sorry but I just can't recommend this place to anyone, the food isn't Up to par with my standard of just decent Chinese food, I got over cooked chicken that you couldn't chew, paid 35 dollars for 2 dinner entrees that just wasn't edible. I tried to explain to them my problem and was told "that's how we cook it" well Sir I'm sorry but I like my food chewable... Either way my dog was very happy.. so I left a 1 star review for her.... They also talk very unprofessionally in front of customers that understand the language ;)
This is our favorite restaurant! The food is SO good, and the people are very nice. We actually had the rehearsal dinner for our wedding there. They've been remodeling recently and it already looks SUPER nice inside. Can't wait to see how it looks when they're finished. Would definitely recommend!
My husband loved it , * I had to season my vegetable fried rice a little more. This was the first time we were there since we are from Pennsylvania but we would go back again if in the Charleston area.
Thought the food was terrible quality. Some of the worst Asian food I’ve ever had. Soggy chicken, cheap rice; low quality food. Stopped in on a road trip and instantly regretted it.
It’s great food
Handmade crab rangoons are great and so is the soup and B Street salad.
Everything was delish, service good, check backs good. Food excellent
Good and quick
The food is great and the service is speedy. It was packed when we got here so it's a pretty popular sushi spot. Prices are good and one can get basic rolls for about $5-6 and specialty rolls from $10-14. Will definitely come back.
We were expecting the lunch buffet, i guess it is not available on Saturday.
Great food excellent service
Good food, good service.
Lunch buffet was good. Not a lot of options but enough to fill you up. Seemed clean and the service was good.
Great sushi, awesome atmosphere
Great food, friendly staff
The food quality is inconsistent. Sometimes excellent, but just as often not. If the pickings in the area weren't so slim, I'd give it one star, but the reality is that it's better than many in a mediocre market. Visitors beware.
I have to honestly say since they remodeled this restaurant the customer service & quality of their food went downhill. Very disappointing. I been there twice this week and both times was horrible experience. We will never come back again.
We used to eat here for lunch almost every Friday. But since they remodeled, business has picked up & service & food quality on the buffet have gone downhill. The last time we ate there, we were seated & went to buffet & everything was …
Very good food and service
Excellent food and friendly staff
I love this restaurant. The owners are super nice and the food is delicious.
Always great. Been coming here for more than 10 years. Their lunch buffet is good, but the made-to-order food at dinner is amazing. Good service, and the sushi (brought to the menu recently) is really good too.
Dinner was beyond awesome and the hush puppies with honey butter were incredibly delicious! The quiet atmosphere with soft acoustical guitar playing over the speaker system & the fast & friendly service made my dining experience fantastic! I give em 2 thumbs up!
Really good food and service.
Food was great the service was amazing I wouldn’t eat anywhere else if I had the chance
Consistency in their buffet is their #1 thing! There're never any surprises... and perhaps that's why I didn't give them 5 stars. Mixing it up on the buffet every now and then is a good thing, otherwise, it's great food!
Awesome buffet but only offered 11-3 Monday-Friday and on Sunday
The food is so good. It by far is the best around. I highly recommend this place!!!! The staff is friendly and takes good care of customers.
Over priced , flavor of food was bland at best , What you would pay for a large dish at any other chinese restaurant at Rice Bowl you get Less on your plate then a small order of the same dish elsewhere... Never ate there before figured id try it derinately wont eat there again.
Great buffet and the sushi was great.
Food is generally very good. Pretty disappointed this time. Ordered general tsos chef special. Food came out and looked amazing. First couple of bites were good but seemed tough and the food temp was hot in one spot and very cool in another, whatever I was pretty hungry. About halfway thru i noticed pieces were much colder and extremely tough, like it had been set out all day and quickly reheated to be served. I told the waitress of the issue and she said she would let them know, no big deal, I dont want half cooked or old cold chicken. Well she brought us our check and that was it. So we paid and left. I'm not one to make a big deal, especially when its yo people who prepare your food. Lesson learned though.
This is always a nice and fun place to go for oriental food they are so polite and nice always taken good care of you
The food selection is bad and some of it was cold. Also the seating was really close and cramped. Over all bad experience...
I’m truck Driver .... And I stopped for a lunch plate.... is delicious... very friendly staff .... nice to eat in.
Small and hard to move around. Nothing is labeled as to what it is. People with allergies just have to guess what things contain
Sushi was nice, excellent service and not to expensive.
1 word..Wow! Best Chinese in the Charleston area by far! Its homemade not fresh frozen. The crab rangoon is like dessert!
This place is awesome!!! The food is excellent, priced low and the service fantastic! Remember The River's Edge in St. Albans? They serve their cabbage soup and hush puppies. Needless to say the Rice Bowl is now my favorite local restaurant.
Really good sushi
Not the best Chinese food but decent. They had a large variety and lots of different kinds of sushi. Clean and well managed. Riddle me this Batman. Why do Chinese restaurant serve on their buffet things like fried chicken, pizza, etc. If …
Extremely friendly, but did have a spotty experience here. I ordered online, and did arrive a bit early. This was probably for the best because they claimed they missed my online order, aa they sometimes do. They thoroughly apologized and got me my food after a 20 minute wait. The food is good, and the sushi bar is fairly priced. I'd recommend it.
Good an reasonable place to eat
Great place, friendly people/staff, good food, and an overall great Chinese restaurant. Deserves 5 stars and more!
Great food fast service, lunch buffet and lunch specials on sushi make this place a must stop for lunch, dinner, or take out.
Great food and environment.. looks newly remodeled and very clean.
Miso soup, Philadelphia roll, and steamed pork dumplings tonight. Always really good.
Every time I’ve ever been here it is ALWAYS GREAT! Not sure if they got a new cook or what but coconut shrimp was crunchy(not suppose to be) General Tso’s chicken tasted different than usual (and not in a good way) And even crab Rangoon’s weren’t creamy like they are supposed to be(lumpy cream) I hope Andy can get the food tasting great again because he and his family have always made it a point to make great food.
My favorite sushi place
Brought some friends to this place. I've always wanted to stop in here to try out the buffet and I have been missing this in my life! The food: fantastic The staff: helpful and super nice. We came in during the lunch buffet and it was packed! A confirmed sign they are doing something right here. I just may have found my new Chinese food spot.
I always get the same thing it depends on who makes it but overall good
OK,i went there ten times, the first time was good, the second awfully cold, dry meat, noodles, ect.,you get the picture.so we tried going at noon so things were full and hot, that was not the case, there were 2 seafood things ,a breaded shrimp that tasted rotten and not refrigerated all night, then a stuffed clam that tasted how a hot dumpster smells.i offered the cook $20. To swallow one bite and he refused,i told him the food has to be removed from the buffet and he refused.man those people really won't throw anything away.oh and there will be an empty won ton soup every time you go there, and if you say anything they ask how many won ton you want ,so they can bring it to you in 10 minutes or so.oh yeah they also let your dirty dishes pile up a foot high and dont ask if you need a refill, you have to find someone.
Great ad always
This is my favorite chinese restaurants in this area. I go there so much they know be name. The food is delicious. Their hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had.
Nice place with good food. They've remodeling since I was here last, looks great!
Great place to eat in Cross Lanes buffet for lunch through the week is always busy .very good food.they have many secret recipes a lot from the old Rivers Edge in Saint Albans
Loved the atmosphere, food, and staff. Will definitely go back.
