Ordered muscles, 8oz filet and pork chops Fantastic service, tasted delicious and cooked almost to perfection.
My favorite place to come. Food is great, and staff is awesome ❤
Don't go to the bar. Bartender walked by us 5 times without even saying hello. Don't mind waiting when a place is busy, but is was basically dead. Left after 5 minutes without being waited on.
Great atmosphere and excellent bar. Live music was great. We did not eat on this visit.
Good food but service is overwhelmed when things are busy.
The decor is a little sparse, but clean. I ordered a Reuben. There was a small amount of meat, and the bread was dry toasted. ( In a toaster??? ) I was disappointed. But, the French Fries were good.
Hip urban atmosphere. Our appetizer never came out, the manager spoke with us and comped the item. It was a fun place. Will return.
Excellent! The cod tasted as good as sea bass, service great on a busy Saturday night even without reservations. The waiter saw we were off a bike ride and brought a carafe of ice water unasked.
The food was excellent, service was great, and atmosphere is lovely!
Music fantastic, Dino Delray band!! Food okay but fries were fried nearly black. Otherwise, everything was great.
Ordered scallops for a appetizer and only had three tiny scallops for $10.00. Wait staff was great though.
Wonderful restaurant in the sweetest town!
The food is phenomenal. The basil ice cream is delicious.
Took my wife here for Valentine's Day before going to The Opera House. We were late for our reservation due to the weather, which was our fault so this is why I didn't complain too much when we were there. We did call and let them know we would be late. They were very polite and the service was great. Portion sizes were good too. My wife ordered the steak (they called it something else). It was cooked exactly the way she wanted it, medium. I had a bite and it was good. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ. The first thing I noticed with it was the VERY vinegar taste. So much so it took my breathe away the first bite. I usually like more sweet BBQ but I should have asked and the menu should have said it was a vinegar based BBQ. We finished and I asked for a box. When I was putting the slaw into the container, I discovered a VERY long hair in my food (my hair is very short). I left it like it was and told the waitress and she took the container and plate and said she would take care of it. She brought back a new container with a smaller portion of what I had left over. We then got the check with nothing taken off. Most other places would have not charged for the hairy food. We won't being back.
Nice, clean, pet friendly. I expected my expensive salad to have a bit more ump.
Staff was GREAT! The head chef was very nice, came out and told us different things that he recommends. Members of my party stated, "BEST cheese steak I've eaten in a LONG time." The Belgian Chocolate Mousse was to die for! Best place I've ever eaten! Glad to say it's close to home!
Not sure what the issue was other than a large party next to us but the wait staff seemed angry and our server showed us a really unpleasant attitude. The food was good 4/5 the chicken on my grilled chicken salad was not grilled and was completely tasteless but the salad was fine. Same thing with the grilled shrimp- not grilled on my mom’s salad. But the fish and chips and spaghetti with meatballs were very good. The service was incredibly slow - 5:30 start to a 7:30 finish - and when we ordered dessert the server brought us the bill instead. Then she took her time returning. We asked the hostess for assistance and she explained, using a lot of words but without explaining, why she couldn’t help us. My request to her to find out server apparently wasn’t heard. Super disappointing- our first time to see the plays and enjoy the town. Guess it was a bad night. The place was really nice and we loved the art. Needs better service.
Incredible brunches with seemless service. Outstanding menu with a publike atmosphere.
Great food and great beer and drinks
The staff were excellent. The salad I had was not great but the other people loved their entrees. The appetizers were tasty and well presented.
Place is dead on! Great service, beer selection, and food!
All around excellence.
Good food and service
Good food..great live jazz
2/26/2019. My girlfriend took me out to Shepherdstown for dinner then we went over to the Domestic to grab a drink or two. We walked in looking to sit at the bar. We received some snobby looks from the group of older ladies sitting at the bar. When I asked to move a stool so we had two chairs one of the women pretended it was taken so we just decided to grab a seat at the table. Now I understand it's not the restaurants fault for having rude customers; however, after we sat down we waited almost 20min and not a single person asked us if we needed anything. The bartender passed us by and either the owner or Front of house manager passed by us 3 times without recognizing us so we got up and decided to take our business elsewhere. Absolutely unacceptable customer service for an establishment like this.
It had a great atmosphere, the decor was very nice and the staff were helpful, but the food was relatively mediocre (shrimp scampi).
The mussels and the Thai Chile brussel sprouts were excellent
It made my. Mom sick
Very cute little spot. Pricey for just a lunch stop though. Nice staff
Nice staff, good music on occasion
This is the place for you! If you like waiting an hour for apps, then leaving because they still haven't gotten to your table.
Food good, service great however there was live music that was way to loud and it made the experience unenjoyable...too bad
Excellent food, great drinks. We stopped here after a long day and loved the vibe, the comfort food, and the live jazz music on Thursdays. Every weeknight has a drink special and happy hour with delicious appetizers at 25% off. Service was a little slow because they were busy, but the waitresses were friendly and had good tips on the food. Two thumbs up and would definitely go back again.
Fantastic lunch. Friendly staff. Clean restaurant.
Really good food and service! Nice open airy space, low key and relaxed!
Waited 15 minutes to be seated, waitress ignored us until I asked if it was a self seating style restaurant. Once we were seated, we sat for another 15mins before they took our drink order. The tables were so close together I had to sit at the corner of our table. They got one of our drink orders wrong, then stood at the neighbors table chatting about tattoos while we waited another 10mins for a sweet tea, that turned out to be ginger tea instead. A few cheese burgers and a fish sandwich took 40 mins. The cook/proprietor was kind enough to comp our drinks however, and the burgers were quite good.
Wonderful food and atmosphere!
Good new American food and drink in Shepardstown. Enjoyed the burger; the beer list has good variety. Cocktails are nice, too.
Beautiful space, generous portions of "farm to table" fare, pleasant staff. The main street is pleasant for walking, there's a grocery with a little bar featuring local beers, a butcher, etc. About 45 minutes to D.C.
Food was delicious, atmosphere great, we were seated very quickly. Server did get our order wrong, but he was very quick to try to make it right
I have been a regular at Domestic for years - I love the food and the atmosphere - I'm a local that stops in all the time and brings family and friends. The last three times I've been in I've been met by hostesses that have have told me first that they couldn't take reservations for a large party of 8 - when I stopped by the restaurant was mostly empty....the last two times I've stopped by with a party of three and been told I couldn't be seated without a reservation prior to 7pm - even though there are many tables empty. Domestic youve lost my business and local support - I don't understand your new seating policies because for years I've always been able to stop by and get a table - I don't understand this any longer.
Super Dog friendly! !! *Indoors* (Yes, you heard right!!! Indoors! !) Fine fine dining! !! Classy "Soho" feel yet a laid back casual vibe, not stuffy at all. Great ambience for bring a calm pooch to enjoy some really fine foods like mussels in wine cheese sauce... OMG that was so good!!! Wide wine n beer lists! !! Staff is super friendly. Totally love this restaurant. My pooch is 140lb and he has lots of room to move around in.
Great service and ambience, but our entrees were miserable. My pot roast was oily and covered in burnt -- way past crispy -- brussels sprouts. My wife's burger was tiny and her fries were overcooked to the point of being inedible.
We love this restaurant for its great food, drink, and atmosphere! We wish we could give it six stars. Keep up the great work, Doug!
Freaking delicious southern cooking, which this yankee appreciates.
Food is great and original, the atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. The menu is eclectic and a gastric treat.
Friendly staff and an attractive, spacious dining room.
Must have brussel sprouts! And jalapeno margaritas.
Great tasting, affordable lunch. Nice atmosphere too!
Drinks and food are wonderful, and the staff is friendly.
Great food and service. I especially like the live jazz they have there.
Beautiful inside. Good beer, cocktail an wine selection. Food menu looks good, but I didn't eat.
Always good food, drinks & atmosphere. You can't go wrong with Domestic!
Great food, great atmosphere, excellent staff. Would recommend to any friends. Means a lot to have the owner and chef check to make sure everything is perfect!
I have the Teriyaki salmon with Asian noodles, the portion was small but simply delicious. The mix of flavors was perfection.. The Black bean burger was a pleasant surprise.. flatbread pesto chicken, again, small portion but perfect combination of flavors.. Service can be slow but always friendly staff in a nice, small place,, also some nice cocktails.
Not splendid
Fun, modern–hip vibe. Lovely, welcoming space with tables placed far enough apart that your chair back stays free of surrounding guests.
Great food, nice atmosphere and always friendly to our dog. Will always recommend. They even gave her some cheese and bacon!
Love the owner Doug and his staff. A great place to hang with friends and get some drinks and something to eat.
Very good service and excellent food. We went for beer and dinner pairing recently with Berkeley Springs Brewing Co and it was great.
Very quaint nice atmosphere
The staff there were completely overwhelmed by a party of about 8. They were out of silverware, plates. Turned away at least 15 customers saying that they needed to get "caught up" over a 40 minute period. Food is probably good, but not worth that kind of disorganized service.
Awesome service, awesome food... Great night!!!
Wonderful place and great folks!
Overpriced drinks and a rude bartender.
The first time I came here, I had a good experience. The service was good and the food was good. The second time I came here will be my last. The dish I ordered had the wrong things on it, as in, what it said it had on the menu was not on it when it came out, and even with the wrong things on it, was not out together well at all, it was very sloppy. My sister's dish came with fries and she received 5 of them. Literally 5. Her entree was crab cakes and it was two crab cakes the size of sand dollars, and a tiny side salad. This was for $16. Our server was very nice and provided great service but the food sealed the deal for me not returning to this restaurant. I am disappointed, especially since my first experience was good and I convinced my sister to go here with me, promising her the food was good.
Food was awful. Wings were bland. $16 Bacon Mac and Cheese was the most flavorLESS thing I may have ever eaten. They were also out of many menu items including burgers... all burgers. Service was subpar. Will not patron again.
We wanted to like this place too. Decor seems to be juuust missing something to put it over the edge to a really nice place to eat. Candles at the table maybe. But what really shocked us was how TINY the SERVINGS were. I mean, TINY. Ridiculous. Like a snack. My steak was decent, all six pieces of it, and his cod (nondescript) barely filled the palm of MY hand, let alone his. We felt so let down we had to go order Chinese next door so we didn't go to bed hungry. Just really unacceptable. Sweet staff, but doesn't make up for the rest.
Wait staff/hostess/bartender outstanding service. Food not up to par I ordered the filet which I was informed was subsituted for London Broil which no problem I enjoy all cuts of meat. I ordered it rare it came out medium for the 2 of the 4 pieces and medium well to done on the ends. The waitress asked me if the steak was cooked right it was not but she informed me when ordering it was the last in the house so I wasn't going to complain plus she provided outstanding service. Overall food quality was something I would expect from a chain restaurant and not the niche I was looking for from a restaurant that was ranked in the top 50 for farm to table. The price was fair service was awesome however I felt there needed to be more attention to the food preparation. Next time in town we will go a different direction.
Great atmosphere with live music on Tuesday.
Great crab cakes and burgers. The staff is friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed. We were in and out in an hour on a Saturday evening, which was great compared to the wait times elsewhere.
Great mimosas, simple atmosphere, and good food. Try the salmon bites.
Delicious. Great service, nice atmosphere.
Great food and staff
Food was horrible! I got the salmon teryaki and I couldn’t even eat it. We left and went somewhere else for a second dinner. Maybe the bar is good. Atmosphere was good but food is the worst I have ever had.
We really wanted to like this place. The ambiance was great and the service was excellent, our waitress even recommended a great beer that I never would have picked, but very much enjoyed nontheless. Unfortunately, both our meals were disappointing. I ordered the bistro filet, cooked medium. What was brought out was five small pieces of beef, the ends were charred, the meat was very well done and dry and overall pretty tasteless. My wife ordered the coconut shrimp. It wasn't bad, but one word of advice: a little bit of the curry sauce goes a long way. Unfortunately the rice was drenched in sauce which made it pretty much inedible. In the end, this meal caused me to do two things I never do: the first was tell the waitress how bad the meal was. The second was that after spending $60 on dinner, I was just as hungry as when I came in and was forced to stop by McDonald's for a burger on the way home! Maybe just a bad night in the kitchen, and hopefully our experience was just bad luck. We had heard great things about the place and really wanted to like it.
Wonderful food....tempting and luscious berry tempter beverages....delicious wrapped scallops...and yummy flatbreads...i highly recommend a visit!
The customer service and atmosphere were very nice. The menu selection was a bit limited and even though it wasn't very busy, it took 40 min for our 3 meals to come out (our appetizer came out with our main course). All of the dishes looked BEAUTIFUL . The burger was just OK... 80% bun (6/10). Salmon was good (7/10). Filet was about 4 Oz of steak, 5 asparagus stems, and about a dozen fries.. for $19. The flavor was just ok, but I'm guessing it was (over)cooked first and sat for awhile.. it came out cold (4/10). We got a basket of tots too.. clearly the frozen variety from a bag that they fried and threw a little cheese over.. (5/10) This place definitely spends their time on trying to look nice, and it shows.. Everything looked fantastic . The staff was very polite, but a tad slow. The sad thing was quality was almost an afterthought. I'll probably give them another shot, maybe just for drinks and an appetizer or 2.
Great meal and entertainment.
Need to change the oil in the fryer
Good drink selection
Best food and service in a long time.
Wait staff were very kind and attentive, however, I ordered the teriyaki salmon which was disappointing. The fish was roughly 3 to 4 ounces ( 1.5 inches wide, 3-4inches long) and served on a bed of instant ramen noodles, the 0.18 cent ones. Needless to say, the portion was tiny and the price outrageous for the size/ingredients of the dish ($18).
The dog visiting around the different tables made our night! The food was delicious too. We got the donut burger and the sausage & gravy quiche.
Really great and inventive menu, although it's a little on the short side. A really nice place to have dinner and drinks
Wonderful atmosphere, good fresh food n live music on Tuesdays!
Stylish pub tucked into a quaint location. Food was amazing and home made ice cream was out of this world.
Bought tickets in advance for "The Do Me Stick Comedy Show" that was supposed to start at 9pm last night (drove 30 min with very pregnant wife to get there)... Place was half empty when we arrived at 8:45, so I asked the bartender to confirm they were doing the show at 9, which he did... Over an hour later and following multiple assurances that show was going to start any minute, we noticed there were only a handful of people still there, and my wife tapped out. The bartenders were friendly and the food was fine, but we would not have selected this place had it not been for the event they promoted.
Excellent staff. Really good food
Good selection and fresh food
Great food, great staff, great place ... love it!
We decided to give this restaurant another try...but no. The biscuits and gravy was like a clump of something on a mashed down microwaved piece of dough. Terrible. No more chances for this place!
I really enjoy this place, the atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming. Food is delicious and they offer healthy choices with generous portions, fresh coffee with rich cream.. plus an opportunity to support a locally owned business with a down home feel.
Only giving 4 stars because I ordered a vegan “tuna” sandwich that is $8 on the menu, but got charged $10 by the waitress. Other than that slight annoyance, the service had been very kind and that vegan “tuna” sandwich was DELICIOUS.
Incredible food pairing with Stone brewery beers! Great place....awesome food....great service and friendly too.
Enjoyable night. Good prices & service
Service was great and we enjoyed the Belgian chocolate mousse cake! However, I ordered the beer braised pot roast and the description said it came with carrots, red onion and creamy polenta, which it did. But, it also had Brussel sprouts in the dish. I do not like Brussel sprouts and it ruined the dish for me. I would not have ordered that had I known about the Brussel sprouts.
unreasonable pricing
Amazing food that's not overpriced. The staff was very nice and always there when we needed something. I love that it's pet friendly.
Been here twice and both times with a reservation. Was terribly understaffed in each case. Waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order then left.
We ate here this afternoon. We got an entree of scallops, garlic corn, shoestring fries, and basil ice cream for $20. It was a tiny amount of food. It does look pretty on the plate. If the quality were better I maybe wouldn't complain about the quantity. There were less than ten fries, a tablespoon of corn and ice cream, and about as many scallops as I expected. The ice cream was interesting and very good. None of the hot stuff was hot. The scallops were not good. The corn was way too garlicky, and the fries were sub par. Also the waitress was not friendly and didn't check on us. It wasn't even busy yet.
home town people and good food really good place to set and eat when I am back in town that is where I will be eating
Good food, good service
Good food
excellent food, staff very friendly
Delicious and great service! Also, their creative and imaginative menu keeps me coming back again and again. Where else in the area can you get "glazed and confused" by a burger on a glazed donut? My favorite is their rise and shine burger and their loaded totchos.
Not bad place, menú is different but good. Tried the fries scallops with basil ice cream. Servings were a bit small. Had to make it 3 stars because of the random dog walking around the restaurant. (Not a service dog) reggae music was great, unfortunately for the design and size of the venue it's too loud for comfortable conversation.
Very diverse menu and well done. Excellent service. Nice draft beer list. Service was attentive but not suffocating. Meals were perfectly prepared and delicious. Made our lunch a very enjoyable experience. Will definitely return.
A gem in the middle of Shepherdstown WV. Came in for the first time to meet friends. Stella, who was wonderful, greeted us with a smile and fast service. Our fried pickles were perfectly cooked and served hot. My shrimp and grits were also a delight, with andouille sausage, fresh tomatoes and a perfectly cooked, over easy egg. An addition that worked together with those sweet creamy grits. My wife’s sausage and gravy quiche with a lightly tossed salad was so good. All the dishes served to us were excellent, hot and with a smile. Finally we ended our meal with a delicious chipotle brownie desert, served with a pipping hot fudge, ice cream and some interesting toppings. You’ll have to order this to find out. Lol. The sweet chocolate with a bite in the end. Yum yum. The restaurant was clean and the bathrooms were as well. Very friendly staff. You’ll want to go back, over and over. Oh and don’t forget to walk this friendly, sleepy town.
Cold beer, good burger
The food is good, don't get me wrong, but I ordered a $16 entree that was supposed to be crab cakes, a side salad, and sweet potato fries. The crab cakes were tiny, and I got 5 French fries total. Literally 5 French fries. $16 for really not a lot of food, so kinda feeling like I got deceived and lied to. Server was really nice though, but was disappointed with the portions, I could have eaten at least 5 of those tiny, disappointing crabcakes.
Great food, beer, and open accepting atmosphere. Visiting Antietam? Cross the river for this place.
Food was fantastic! Drink menu could have been a little more extensive.
Nice environment and some of the best food I've had in a long time. Presentation was 5star and just enough selection. I will definitely go back to try more!!
Awesome food, awesome atmosphere.. these new chef specials are killer! Anyone who doesn't try this place is crazy, make sure you get a reservation for the chef specials.
I am giving this a 5 start because we seriously had the best time out the other night! From the moment we walked in we were given excelent service from the staff, especially our server Stella! She reccomended some of her favorite menu items for us to try and my husband and I both enjoyed our meals! I tried the Brussel Sprout Salad and he had a Burger, we will definetally be going back next time we are in town and would reccomend to anybody we know visiting!
Wow! Delicious ~ the onion, bacon, fig flatbread ❤️!
Anyone who didn't put 5 stars up is a complete idiot. This is probably the freshest tasting restaurant I've ever seen. The service is top notch and the restaurant itself had a great feeling. My gf and family will be heading up tomorrow to enjoy some real food
Great food and service!! Highly recommend!
Worst customer service I've ever had from a girl named Emily. Dark hair. Food was good, atmosphere good. She was so rude, so condescending, slow, and borderline untrustworthy with my food that the friends and family who came along have sworn to never come back if she's there. Otherwise we'd have enjoyed ourselves.
I almost licked a plate. Don't do that.
Drink order took 20 minutes despite low number of customers. Appetizers took some time. Dinner was ok, nothing outstanding. With a party of 6, 5 dinners came out with the 6 taking an additional 10 minutes to arrive. That entree was comped. Disappointed with service.
The food is AMAZING
Relaxed atmosphere and great food. They also can handle a gluten free request very well.
They have a ramp for wheelchairs! Probably the only business in Shepherdstown to have one. A great evening.
Fantastic!
the bacon deviled eggs and the fried pickles spears were excellent apps. room is open but the service makes it cozy. great beer and drinks available. the los steak frites was cooked to a perfect medium and the ipa picked veggies were a nice compliment. my wife had the salmon blt and it was fabulous. friendly staff, great food and drinks, inviting atmosphere: will def stop back here our next visit to town!
Love it there. DELISHOUS
The service was terrible even though they weren’t very busy and the quality of food was not impressive. I won’t be going there again. The waitress brought silverware and placed it directly on the table before she realized she should have put a napkin down first. She clumsily tucked a napkin under the silverware as an afterthought. She forgot an entrée and never realized it even when everyone else around the table was eating and one person had no food. We had to wave a different server down just to request the last burger because no one checked in our table once the food was served. Once the late burger arrived, it was served extremely rare despite the request for it to be cooked medium. One of us waited 20 min for a soda, none of our waters were refilled, we had to ask for plates when our appetizers were served then stare at the dirty appetizer dishes that remained on the table throughout our whole meal. The description of the food was great, but the presentation and delivery were poorly executed. Appetizers were mainly pre-breaded, frozen, fried food. The bacon on the burgers was tasteless and soggy. The buffalo wings were equally as soggy. Someone at our table had a hard burger bun. The “glazed and confused“ burger was poorly constructed—rather than serving fresh, local donuts (as their motto might suggest), the hard glazed donuts used for buns were ice-cold and looked exactly like the pre-packaged donuts sold in vending machines. My salad was fresh, but had no dressing, nor was I offered any. If I wanted some, I would have had to chase our waitress down because she wasn’t sticking around to check on us or see if we needed anything, nor was anyone idle bothering to check on us. If anyone wants creative tasty food in the same price range, drive ten minutes to Martinsburg and eat at Brix27. On a good note, the one mixed beverage and bottled beers and sodas were fantastic!
The food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is a very friendly environment and I loved how it looked. The staff was very friendly and was not hovering over you while you eat. The food was great; I had the Caprese Panini, it was fantastic. I completely recommend it. Plus, I love how they supply dog biscuits and water for your furry family members. I definite go again :)
Best burger in Shepherdstown. Nice little bar too, with other dishes as well. The Tv could be bigger if you were looking to watch a game, but Shepherdstown is a bit more about visiting with friends.
Great food Mac and cheese with bacon and a burger with great beer
This is literally my favorite restaurant in West Virginia. Whenever I come down, I make sure to carve out time to come down here. Definitely worth it, no matter what I get!
I have given this place many chances and they always seem to dissapoint. Its a shame to because there are some good people who work here. The food is sub par and today was the last time i will eat there. I simply asked for a little more cheese on my sandwich and it came back exactly the same smothered in mayo it was gross. I do enjoy their industry drink night and their staff but the food leaves somthing to be desired.
Love love Love this place Good food Nice beers Nice atmosphere Feels like home We always go when passing through
We went at a non busy time of day and the atmosphere was pleasant and food good. Seems like a nice place to meet with friends.
