Old school Korean menu with soups fish etc. Always filled with old people which is a good sign and customer base is almost exclusively Korean if your looking for authenticity. Restaurant isnt easily noticable as a Korean restaurant unless you know what your looking for so not surprised. Even the sign says Asian bistro but it's 100% Korean food. Friendly service and staff that speaks English. Fried fish + soup is very popular so it will also most likely smell like fish in the restaurant. I like the chunggookjang 청국장 stinkier daenjang jigae. The kong biji 콩비지 (grounded up soybean's with kimchi) is also quite popular but has no meat and almost too finely ground. Overall recommend this place.

The most authentic korean home-cooked cuisine you can fine around Centreville. (This restaurant used to be in Annandale.) Famous for grilled fish lunch set & Sahmgyetahng (chicken soup in a stone bowl). Will come back again.

Wife and I shared the bulgogi bibimbap for 2. Huge portion for under $20 and came with soup and banchan. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Wonderful meal. UPDATE: This restaurant came under new management and changed the menu. Bulgogi Bibimbap is no longer an option, let alone the large one for two people.

I'm in a tough spot from a rating perspective so please take the time to read this Although the restaurant is named Danji, it's really To Sok Jip 2 which is the second To Sok Jip, the original being in Annandale. Today's adventure had me trying the seafood pancake and my favorite, the grilled Mackerel. Candidly, the Mackerel was the sole reason I came here. Both dishes arrived within a reasonable amount of time and did not disappoint as they were absolutely delicious. It's exactly what I've come to expect from To Sok Jip. However the reason for the poor rating had nothing to do with the food but with the bad practices displayed by the staff cleaning the tables: They clear the plates bowls first leaving the leftover napkins and the cups of water which they then use to wipe down the table. Let me be crystal clear here: They would take the leftover napkins (used by the previous customers), pour some water on it from the leftover cups of water (which were also used by the previous customers) then proceed to wipe the tables. At first I thought it was a fluke and that perhaps they used a fresh napkin and a cup of water that was unused,don't although admittedly I don't know how they could possibly determine that with any certainty. However after seeing this play out at two other tables I was I completely mortified. I observed this well into my meal and began to not only worry about the very table I sat at but also what was happening in areas I the couldn't see like the kitchen. Again the food was great, the waitresses that helped were fantastic but really their cleaning practices have definitely come into question. I'll be back and if they can get this sorted out I'll update my rating.

It is now called Tosokjib. Just fyi. It isn't Danji anymore. And of course the food and service is great bc their first location is in old koreatown Annandale. This place is SO good. You wont regret it. I only wish they stayed open later. Everything is fresh and not too oily. Tastes like real home cooking. A must is the fish! So fresh and the bones have been removed which makes for easy eating. Smart.

I’ve been here two times and it has a disturbing fishy odor each time throughout the restaurant. My guests and I found it very nauseating. Very, very busy place so I guess others don’t mind that smell. The food is nice, service is not so friendly... but it might be a cultural difference.

Pickled radishes, yum! Miso soup, delicious, light, not too miso-y. Fried dumplings, good. Bulgogi, served like a fajita, sizzling. Slightly sweet, tender, thinly sliced. The best I've had! Fried chicken in spicy sweet sauce, so crunchy, great flavor and balanced. Not too sweet and not too spicy. Generous portions for everything and reasonably priced. My new favorite spot!

Went here for lunch last week with a total party of 4 people. The place was empty but clean. We were seated right away and got the menu. I had a spicy noodle/donkatsu lunch combo for $15.99 which included a can of soda. The portion was huge. I thought it would come with a small handful of noodle and half portion of cutlet but they were both full sizes. Probably could serve 2 people. Miso soup was delicious and pork donkatsu were delicious. Spicy cold noodle (쫄면) was cooked correctly but the sauce tasted too thick and unbalanced of its unique sour taste with a hint of sweetness. Overall, it was a good place for lunch with large portions and reasonable prices.

I believe they recently changed ownership and their menu to match Tosokjip in Annandale. Tosokjip is widely regarded as the best traditional Korean food in the area, and now Danji serves the same menu.

Food is salty and tends to be spicy. Terrible customer service. My parents finished food when I just started eating (server forgot to order my food and instead served someone who arrived later than us). The restaurant was not even fully packed. So my tip wasn't good but the owner/server got angry and told me that I need to give more tips. Rude. Not sure if it is because of cultural difference but they clearly don't deserve generous amount of tips.
