Here you have all the reviews of real people who purchased the products and services of Chow Thai (Restaurant) in West Virginia area.
Right now the firm receives a score of 4.7 stars out of 5 and the rating was based on 252 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is practically the best one, and it's based on a high number of scores, so we can say that the valuation is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their score when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to place feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Thai restaurant.
This place is difficult to find, but once you make it there, you're in for a real treat! The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, and they're happy to help you make a decision if you're like me and not very familiar with Thai food. I really liked the atmosphere they created with the decor and the music they were playing fit great with the vibe of the restaurant. They have exposed ceilings, which work well to give it a bit of a hipster vibe, but it works. At their recommendation, I got mild massaman curry with chicken and fried rice. It was delicious - very flavorful and filling. I felt like it didn't have enough spice, so I asked if I could add some more heat to it and they were more than happy to bring me a small cup with the stuff they use to add spice. This was my first time trying Thai food, but it definitely won't be my last!
Love this place. The best Thai food around Charleston. Great service too!
Amazing business all around, food, employees, and very clean, a little hard to find, but just pull into the hotel parking lot and you'll find it
Great service and amazing food! Grab a table if you can!! Or takeout is always an option!!
Friendly employees/owners and delicious food. Definitely coming back for more. Vegetarian options are available and very tasty.
Best New lil Diamond in the Ruff.
Very busy for lunch crowd. Great Thai dishes and good value for what you get served up. Been there twice and will go again soon. Hope the owner plans to expand. The business looks like it's doing very well.
Yummy
Man............ Good stuff.
Great service and great food!
Top 5 Shrimp Spring rolls! We tried 5 dishes. They were all very flavorful. Very friendly staff. The place is small only 4 tables, but well worth trying. We will definitely be back.
This tiny little place on Shrewsbury Street is a jewel. The food is authentic and delicious. Very casual atmosphere, with limited seating available.
This place nailed it. The pad Thai was very tasty (I’ll be trying hot instead of medium) and it was steaming when it came out. Darn near burnt my tongue! Loved the food and the service. Will return.
Delicious food! We ate in the restaurant, and this part left a lot to be desired. The building was an older building, and not much had been don't to the bare bones concrete and block interior other than to clean and set up tables. It's pretty obviously a take out place. But the food was excellent which is the main attraction.
A new experience of trying Thai food outstanding!
Love these good people! Great service & delicious food! Wish them the best and many years of success!
I don't think great Thai in West Virginia but this was one of the best Thai food that I have had in a long time. I had the curry steak and it was the right amount of species and coconut milk. The atmosphere is laid back. The restaurant is small so come early to beat the lunch time rush.
Always friendly, fresh, and delicious
This place is a little hard to find but we'll Worth it the food was really good infact it was so good we ordered more to take home with us the staff was really nice when ordering you can let them know how hot you want it and if you need to make any changes to the food you can well worth going to
Wonderful food.. Great service! Locally owned. I recommend!
Wonderful food, friendly staff
Very good curry. Thai hot is hoootttt :) Reasonably priced. Somewhat small (limited tables).
Great food, everything was delicious. Very pleasant counter service, small menu for a small restaurant, not a full Thai offering but still satisfies your need for authentic Thai.
Delicious and inexpensive.
A place that's easy to miss but has awesome food
I arrived just before closing today and mentioned this was my first time there and asked for a curry recommendation. The young lady recommended their C4, Chiang Mai noodles with chicken. It was an amazing dish. The taste is awesome. I will be back.
This place is more like a takeout restaurant with limited dish choices. The menu is only one page. Food is ok, the chicken massaman curry only has few pieces of potatoes and onion for vegetables. The staff is friendly.
DELICIOUS. If you like spicy Thai food this is the spot!
So amazing.
Great food! Small place but full of nice people and authentic dishes.
Excellent Thai even if the menu seems a little short. If you order spicy, expect it to be that way! Very flavorful!
Amazing food. Just know you can add some spice after your meal comes out if needed.
Delicious! John was great at helping newbies to Thai figure out what we wanted. The fact that the rice noodles are gluten free is a plus!
I just recently moved to the area and am so glad that a great Thai restaurant has opened up. The spring rolls are the best that I have ever had and they are handmade along with the sauce. The prices are very fair and I love that they have brought authentic Thai food to the Charleston, WV area. There is limited seating but specialize in to-go orders and use all environmentally friendly items from the takeout boxes, forks, bags and even straws. They have been really busy so just be patient and check out their Facebook page for updated information about hours and offerings for the day. I look forward to lots of Thai food in my future.
The spring rolls were full of grease and the pad Thai way too sweet. I swear they put king syrup in it. Worse Thai ever!
First time visit to Chow Thai. It was delicious.
I love Chow Thai. It’s really authentic and you can tell they love making their food. I recommend anyone wanting to try a new cuisine to get the Chicken Pad Thai!
Great food
Greatest lunch spot in Charleston!
Super nice people, excellent food. Can't wait to go back.
Delicious, pretty quick, convenient.
2nd time eating at this hidden gem. Great food, great service and great people.
You can modify your pad thai by adding stuff like broccoli and bell peppers to it. Highly recommend this for an extra crunch to your pad thai!
Amazing food, great service, friendly staff, and an overall fabulous atmosphere! I recommend Chow Thai to anyone looking for that authentic flavor.
Amazing restaurant serving authentic, reasonable priced thai food that you can't get anywhere else in the Charleston area. The service was fast and the cashier was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. And with it being serviced by Charleston2Go, you can bet we'll be ordering from here a lot.
This is THE place to get authentic Thai food in Charleston. Friendly staff and amazing food keeps me coming back time and time again!
Real taste of thai food. wonderful !
Hard to find but well worth the search. Went for lunch. The food was good with reasonably sized portions. Prices were reasonable too. Only surprising thing was that they charged for any extra white rice in addition to what is given as part of the meal.
Delicious and fresh Thai food
The food was potently flavorful, yet balanced and light. The digs were small but stylish, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I will most certainly be back.
Excellent food excellent service
Always enjoy the food!
Best place in West Virginia for sure. Best pad Thai I've had, ice cream was delicious, and the waitress was very kind. I'm going to eat there right now and I'm so excited I'm going to rate it on the way.
Everything is delicious that I've tried. The larb has this addictive slightly sour quality that's so good. The Khoa Soi is simply divine; slightly sweet with lemon grass flavor sauce. Very light but a little creamy. This is one of the few places that will REALLY give you spicy if you want spicy. The "Level Four" heat is probably too much for most people, but it's legitimate hot. I love it.
Wonderful food, wonderful service, and a fresh breath of air to Charleston! It is a small space with limited seating but my family had no problem sitting down for a meal! Loved it and will be back soon!
Bomb!
Great foods but limited menu...about 10 items
First time trying this place and the food is absolutely delicious! Prices are great. We will be back for sure!
Only 8 tables, be prepared to end up with takeout or wait. Food is AMAZING. Everything is great, lots of options for heat preference.
Pretty good Larb, decent Pad Thai. Hard to find - no signs. It's in back of The Hub, beside a hotel parking lot. Be brave, go in back of the building. If you like Thai food, tell them to use spice level Thai traditional. WV palate, go with as is. Glad I don't have to go out of state to get my Thai spice fix. Better yet, it's open on Sat. and Sunday. Signs will soon be added, the owner said. Meanwhile - go and get it while the gettin's good.
Awesome food
Phenomenal and authentic Thai food!! And they can bring the heat if you want it!!
While in between doctor appointments at the Mayo Clinic, we stopped in at Chow Thai. We had the best Thai meals ever. The Mango salad is phenomenal and a work of art
Getting to-go from there this week was a life changing event. The best BEST thai food we have ever had. I look forward to eating there weekly! Keep up the great work!
Absolutely recommend this diamond in the rough. A very small place that packs a very large punch. Everything about this place is fantastic.
Great food, friendly service! Venue small but comfortable & clean.
Great food, great service You won't be disappointed.
Addictively good. Great springs rolls, and amazing noodles.
Very very tasty. Nice staff. Fast service. Hopping joint on a Tuesday evening. My favorite was the su ko thai, which was sour, salty and spicy, with a touch of sweet. The employee described it as a type of tom yum.
Good food and modern, upscale atmosphere.
Great hole in the wall spot for Thai food. They were really nice, my only caveat would be that I don't recommend it if you have actual celiac disease or gluten sensitivity/allergy -- they where helpful about which parts of the menu were GF but I definitely still had a reaction so there was probably some cross contamination.
Neat hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurant. Food is fresh—and even better because you can tell them exactly how spicy you want it. Great service and staff too.
Wow! Amazing! Fabulous! Delicious! Yum! It hits all the notes for taste. Spice, depth of flavor, rich, and every bite makes you just want more. The Noodle Bowl is fantastic! The Spring Rolls are the best I have ever had. The restaurant is tiny, however, the heart of the place is huge. I would recommend this as a great date night adventure, for foodies, for families, for take out or for just when you don't want to cook and want a great meal! I have eaten in and done take out. The portions are lovely both ways. I have made a couple meals out of 1 portion as they are quite generous. The staff are super courteous and accommodating as to amount of heat to add to the dishes. Whether you don't do spice at all or want it super spicy, they have a whole range of choices. I also recommend this to all my friends on a gluten-restricted diet. Most of the menu selections are Gluten-free. The dishes are primarily made with rice noodles. It is a total joy to be able to eat nearly everything on a menu.
Best Thai food in the region! Excellent lunch specials.
Great food and service.
Good food.
Best place in charleston and the owner and his wife are extremely nice and welcoming. You have to earn it by finding it but their pad Thai is worth the search.
Very good curry highly recommend
The food was very good, but I had to wait 45 min for it to arrive. Servers should've given me a free voucher since I had to wait that long, but that wasn't offered.
Never disappointed!!!! Place is great
Absolutely amazing!
Stopped here passing through on a road trip and have to say we all really enjoyed our meals. The sitting area and menu are small and simple but we like that about this place. The veggie spring rolls were also delicious. Will def return if I'm ever in the area. Highly recommend if you like thai cuisine.
The proverbial “hole-in-the-Wall,” (small, but spotless) but really excellent Thai food with some seldom seen offerings. The restaurant only has four tables, but they stayed full, while take-out customers waited. Wonderful service from the Thai staff.
This place is great. Always super fresh and delicious.
Was a little bland for my taste
Incredibly polite and helpful staff with THE best Thai food around. One of my favorite places to eat locally. Huge fan of the Papaya Pad Thai and fried spring rolls.
Great food produced by very nice people in a start up that Charleston really needed. Try the Chiang Mai noodles; you'll thank me for the tip.
Great food, staff, service and value
Get the noodle bowl!! That's all you need to know
We are so fortunate to have this authentic Thai restaurant in our little city. We have dined here many times and are never disappointed. The spring rolls are delicious with a a flavorful dipping sauce. We have tried almost every item on the menu with our favorite being Pad Thai. Lucky for us they can add tofu to any of the dishes and the fried tofu in this one is super good. Everything is full of flavor. The prices are reasonable, especially for the amount of food you are served. The owner, her husband and staff are super friendly and are always making sure we are happy with our meal. All dishes are cooked fresh and they are eco friendly with packaging take outs.
Delicious with vegan option!
Great curry chicken. Favorite Thai restaurant
My wife and I were visiting out of town, staying downtown and looking for someplace different to eat. Found Chow Thai on Google maps. The reviews said it was small with good food and friendly staff so we decided to give it a try even though we had never eaten Thai before. First, the food was delicious. This was our first meal with Thai food but it will not be our last! Second, the staff was very friendly. They helped us pick a safe choice for our first experience with Thai food. The medium spice was perfect for me. Just enough to be slightly uncomfortable but not enough to overpower the taste of the food. My wife had mild spice and she said that was good as there was enough spice to be noticed but not enough to be uncomfortable. Third, the place was small but certainly not uncomfortably or claustrophobically small. It was very clean. My only complaint would be that the place was difficult to find. It is in the back of the building and cannot be seen or directly accessed from the street listed as its address. One has to turn into the parking lot beside the building then drive around back. A sign on the street would probably increase business substantially. Overall, it was a very positive experience and my wife and I are looking forward to trying new Thai menu items!
A little bit of a wait when busy, but trust me, it's worth it!
I've been waiting for a Thai place around Charleston, they don't disappoint. Food is great.
This place is minimalist when it comes to decor, and the menu is limited, but what they do, they do just right. I asked for massaman curry with little spice. I got a generous portion of veggies in a subtly flavored coconut milk broth, with plenty of rice served on the side. My friend ordered pad kee mao with moderate spice; the server told her she thought light spice would be better, and after tasting the dish, my friend agreed. We enjoyed every bite. We were in town for an event. I'll stop by again on my next trip to Charleston.
Just great food. What a great addition to our food scene. They were slammed and still were kind and very hospitable. Service was quick and the food was perfect. The spring rolls are the best.
The food was amazing and a great value, would recommend this to anyone looking for some authentic Thai food in the WV area
Love these guys
So good!
Delish....but beware, hot means hot. They know spice!! Order accordingly and you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent food and friendly and helpful staff!!
Let’s start with how kind and polite the employees/owners are of this restaurant! Not to mention the food, which is much better than other restaurants. I eat there at least three times a week, and I have never been the slightest bit disappointed. It is independently owned, which allows much better service and quality! I highly recommend Chow Thai!!!! :)
Love this place! Great food and service. You must try!!!
Definitely recommend
Great food and service, 3 tables !
It's a tiny dining area, but the food is awesome. They will spice it up if you can handle it, and they will keep it nice and mild if you can't. I've never had a bad experience here. The spring rolls and rice are great for kids, and the sweet iced coffee is great for me! Call ahead and your order will be ready for you when you get there.
Chow Thai has become a Charleston staple. I can't avoid it, sometimes multiple times a day. Love the Khao Soi and Pha Naeng curries especially. Get the real deal and order it "Thai hot"
Had a appetizer and a noodle dish. Both were pretty good, the pad see ew especially. Very nice staff! Keep in mind this place is very small, 4 tables total, so plan accordingly. They do take out as well. The restaurant is oddly located but its worth finding.
This place is a little hard to find as the store front does not face the main Street. The decor could use updating as it looks very run down. But the food was good and the service quick. Generous portion sizes.
Great food! Small place! Get there early.
Small quaint space with excellent and fresh food
Medium hot please! Absolutely delicious... I will be back!
Great food and staff!
Absolutely terrible...
Nice restaurant, almost alike China or Japan foods. Look alike different kinds soup / health food in the bowl.
Great Thai food..
It's nice and clean. Food is delicious. Some order may take some time because they cook it fresh.
Their pha naeng is awesome! So tasty that is great without noodles or rice!
Good food, simple menu. Try and order out not alot of space to sit.
The food was fantastic! The prices were very reasonable. I have had Asian food in Chinatown new york, chinatown san Francisco, and Europe. Chow thai was just as good. the Atmosphere is simple but i go to RESTAURANTs for great food, not snobby atmosphere.
Delicious food, fast and friendly service. Clean and quaint environment. Great find during road trip.
Good food, the only complaint I had was the noise level... it was super noisy!
Excellent food, good prices, friendly service. Great place to eat!
Try the noodle bowl and thank me later.
Always great food!
I'm still thinking about the food I had here days later. I'm so glad we decided to stop. I had yellow curry with rice noodles (I forget the name) and my husband had the Sukho Thai. We both fell in love with this quaint restaurant. I really wish we lived closer. We'd probably be regulars at Chow Thai!
Aroi Aroi! What a pleasant surprise. I never expected to see an authentic thai restaurant in Charleston WV. Their curry was excellent. I can see that they modified it a little with stuff that goes into curry but mostly they followed the traditional thai way of curry and it really showed. Just right amount of coconut kha flavor for me. I did not try other menu items yet but it seems like the owner and the kitchen know what they are doing. I even saw them advertising kao niew ma muang (stick rice with mango) as a dessert so they must be staying authentic for the most part. Enjoy!
I can’t compare to other Thai places because this is the only Thai I’ve had, however the staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable with reasonable prices. The menu isn’t big but that is to their favor, it allows for all dishes to be prepared with the same precision. The only issue I have is the 7 tables so at lunch time seating can become an issue. If you only have an hour for lunch, be there right at 11, if you have a longer time and can enjoy yourself, this is absolutely the place to do it.
Exceedingly good food. Wonderful, friendly staff. A MUST try if you like Thai.
The food here is amazing they got the flavors just right. It is one if the best Thai restaurants I've tried outside of Thailand. They also have great vegan and vegetarian options.
Great food, fast and friendly
Excellent food and service
A great Thai place. Check it out
First visit ...ordered the Pad Thai w/ shrimp w/mild spice...well prepared, very tasty, spice level just right. Give this place a try!
Food and service are great
Great new addition to the Charleston restaurant scene. And excellent service.
Od thai on point
I often do my Vacation in Thailand, so I know there food very well. Very good food, original and authentic. Very friendly stuff. The comfort was rustic and not so comfortable. Conclusion: Recommendation for an visit.
Very tasty!
Great food at a very nice price. Either to go or eat in. Very limited seating. Can be hard to find.
Awesomely awesome in everyway! If you've been there before, you know exactly what im talking about. If you haven't been there, do your taste buds a favor and go there right now. These guys are the real deal!
I asked for Red Curry w coconut milk. They offered Pha Naeng as close substitute. Very tasty, chicken, veg, red bell peppers. Thai rice also good. What Pam Chase said below about flavors. Small-ish portion imo, but delicious and sufficient. Ginger tea good. Nice cashier/server. Only about 4 tables in small room, so not fine dining. Order at counter, then find a seat. They will bring food & drinks. More carry-out and good quick chow Thai. Located just east/behind Quality Inn and Capitol Inn tall hotels.
Best food in Charleston and worth any form of wait. I will always stop here on my travels!!
Just happened to be in Charleston for the afternoon with a friend and after perusing the capital market pulled out our phones and landed on this establishment. Fabulous food and prompt service. Had Pad Thai for the first time here and they already set a high bar. Highly suggest you check this place out. Menu is reasonably priced $5-$11 and the options are simple and well explained for newbies to the cuisine.
I love their suko thai, a noodle bowl in lime broth with extra bean sprout and peanuts. It always hit my soul in cold weather.
So so
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Truly a great gem in the middle of Charleston. Love this place.
