As I have a yen for one particular soup, Won-ton, I've ordered it all around town, excepting in the buffet restaurants...I ask to get the tureen refilled (with won-tons this time please) and start my meal with a bowlful. Only once did I receive a portion that was actually disappointing and it was likely just an off-day. Point in fact, despite the wide range of okay to really quite good, I like it so much that I never thought I'd have reason...up or down, to write a review about it. This evening my wife went to China King Restaurant and made it a point to let me know that it was my sweet daughter , 'O' , that 'bugged her into getting me 'my' soup as a take out treat
. She told me that the woman behind the counter was the "nicest person " as an aside, and that everything was nice and clean, smelled great and the soup was the least expensive that she's ever gotten ! With all this praise I was almost afraid to try the soup. The container was so hot that I thought the broth would be boiling...there were so many won-tons I was sure that my dear woman payed for extras, and with nothing to complain about, I opened the crackles / noodles that comes with it expecting a tasty oily treat. Well, the crackles were the crunchiest oil-free tasty 'noodles I've had the joy to eat. The freshly made broth was richly flavored and lo and behold, the won-tons were large, creamy smooth with a perfect bite (cut them first and save the roof of your mouth) and inside each one was a generous meaty filling.
Despite the fact I wan't able to complain at all and having to listen to my wife go on about what a 'better' place it was than many...it had the saving grace of offering the absolutely best won-ton soup I've had in decades. When I take my wife out to Chinese next month, there's no guesswork involved in where I am going to take her. We'll get our standards and I'll be able to rate and review at least a half dozen items. All for you ..out there reading it of course !
